I moved to Rocklin in August 23' and started pool service with NorCal pools. Service started out good and slowly declined over the next few months. I began to notice they wouldn't show up and when they did they were only here for maybe 5 minutes and did a poor job, there were always leaves and bug floating on the surface immediately after they left. On multiple occasions I saw the pool guy smoking a cigarette in the corner of my yard, I found this extremely unprofessional. The whole time I was with Nor Cal pools my salt levers were extremely low and I was being charged for salt. I had my water tested in May 24' a couple days after their last visit (note they came twice in May but were a no show for the last 2 weeks of the month) and found only 20% of the levels were within range. I called and cancelled my pool service and received an invoice with some inflated charges. I spoke with Bryan via text about the charges and he adjusted the invoice and hoped we could move on. Fast forward to today 7/8 and I get a certified letter that I actually had to sign for. The letter threatened legal action for unpaid invoices... this was frustrating due to the fact that I still have a card on file with NC pools. I sent Bryan a text letting him know I would pay the amount we agreed upon back on 6/3 not the new amount with $60 in late fees. I sent him a screen shot of our text when I set up the card on file that he said he could auto charge. A few minutes later I get an email saying my card was charged but not for the agreed upon amount. I didn't get an apology for the unnecessary letter, no "my bad" for not charging the card on file or even an acknowledgement of my email. I am a believer in small businesses and like to support locally but I expect honest service and integrity in return. read more

Bryan did an inspection of our pool and it was ridiculous. "Found" several issues with the pool and his suggestion was to replace almost the entire system. Some things that were working, started not working after his "inspection". When pressed, he said the pool was totally functional, but eventually you would need to replace some things. This is a scam. Avoid. Edit: owner says the things broke after he said they were going to break. Let me clear this up. The thing that did not work according to him, did work the day before he came. Instead of saying "after" I should have said they stopped working "during" his inspection. read more

Had Bryan do a start up of a new plaster job. After several times of letting him know that we believed there was an issue with start up and to please come look at it and him blowing us off the pool finish was ruined. Had to get the pool contractor and the manufacture of the plaster out to confirm that it was indeed ruined and the calcium build up from the improper start up job caused all the white discolored spots that were all over the finish. Had to drain the pool and have it redone. When I asked Bryan for my money back he gave some SAC (Smart A&* comment) and said he would need to several pieces of documentation from XYZ. When he had finally came out and looked at the pool after complaining SEVERAL times he just went Oh....with his head hung low, but would not guarantee his work. I'm not an expert in pools by any means BUT I've done 3 pools by scratch and 1 remodel and I know when things aren't going well in the start up chemical phase. After consulting a few other companies that do pool services along with a person that is certified to teaches how to do the chemicals correctly in pools , we found that Bryan is not as knowledgeable as he seems or claims he is and on top of that he price gouges his services and other pool items he tries to sell. I truly hate doing these types of review as someone who is a small business owner that takes pride in my work and my word as a business owner I know how important it is to have good reviews and good word of mouth. Please do your research on this company and 100% listen to your gut if you do have him do work, I wished I would have listen to mine. read more

At first, this company seemed great. We've had a hard time finding a good pool company & the pricing goes up, while the service goes down. Unfortunately, the same thing happened here. After the major storms, our backyard flooded & we had quite a bit of dirt flow into the pool. Bryan had spoke with my husband & said they were cleaning the filters, but recommended new ones. After about 2 months of 0 progress of clearing the mud & noticing either nobody showing up or them not being near the pool for any longer than 3 minutes (and we pay for the full service), we switched to a different company that came highly recommended. In 1 service (and no new filters) they were able to clear our pool & have it looking normal again. Now they service it weekly & I understand maintaining doesn't take quite as long, but are still by my pool at least 3x longer than this company. There were so many weeks that nobody came by & we were never prorated for the month & when I would text Brian, he just assured me they were. Even my neighbors were commenting on how quickly he'd get here & leave. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going with them. They started off great & the pricing is fair assuming they actually do the work you're paying for & that's why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1. read more

So the other reviewer gave NorCal one star because of a receipt, that's really low Drew. Bryan/NorCal is not my regular service company, but called him 2 years ago when my pool company was charging me and arm and a leg for a new filter system. I ordered it from Bryan and saved 30%. Now I just used him again, my pool company wanted to charge me a small fortune to replace two motors and upgrade a controller. Brian determined all it needed was to replace a capacitor and saved me several thousands of dollars. I would definitely call him again and you should too at least for a second opinion. read more

I thought Brian was a very professional guy until I bought a used filter from him. I asked him over atleast 6 times for a receipt and until now never provided me with a receipt. My guess is he wanted to do a transaction under the table to avoid taxes on his end. But don't tell your customer over and over your going to send the receipt and not do so. Beginning of 2017 Brian sold me a cleaner and he spoke very highly of the unit and I paid over $300 , couple days ago I had problem with the unit and I called the manufacture and I called him for receipt to do repair or replacement under the manufacture warranty and he told me my warranty expired on 2/2017 ????? ( that's when He sold me the unit )He got upset when I told him you sold me expired warranty unit and he said I'm not gonna honor this unit !!!! read more

NorCal Pools was recommended by a neighbor and we've been using their service for a few months. We have been charged for a monthly service that includes brushing the pool (which was built this summer). I observed multiple visits where the pool was not brushed. We questioned the service and my husband received confirmation in writing that the pool was being brushed weekly. After observing another week of no brushing I discussed this with Bryan and he admitted that he hasn't been brushing the pool and that sweeping with the net accomplishes the same objective. I disagree. You can see a film on our waterline tile. We notified him that we are cancelling our service and he gave us a prorated invoice for the weeks that he completed this month plus a calcium charge that he never notified us of nor did he get our approval for. We were over charged on the service level for months since he wasn't providing the full service. I would not recommend this company. read more

Bryan has been cleaning our pool for several years. He has changed filters (at a much lower price than I was finding retail online), and has installed a new pump and pool sweep. When I thought our pool light needed to be replaced (at about $300 cost) he was able to find a switch that I had missed and showed me how to turn the light on, no charge! I had NorCal pools for a few years. I was happy at first, but as time went the pool was not clean, and I would get charged at the beginning of the month for service that was not performed. I tried to work with them but all they would come back with is that I complained, but no fixes. I finally hired a new company, and it wasn't until they come to let me know the things that were not done by NorCal did I realize how bad they were. read more
