This place was pure heaven. Check in was easy, the host responded quickly to my texts, the bed was extremely comfy and the room was elegantly decorated and clean. I've went back and forth about writing this, because I know it's a family owned business, but I want to warn others before they make the mistake I did. I booked the most expensive room for a birthday surprise. The location is very close to Crescent Beach and 30mins from downtown St. Augustine. The room I booked (see photo), was supposed to be a deluxe junior suite with a jacuzzi. The website also stated a hot tub (I saw photos of a room with an outside hot tub). It also said it was supposed to be oceanfront, garden and lagoon view. When we arrived the room looked nothing like the room I booked and overlooked the roadway in front of the hotel. I texted the number and explained the situation. The lady tried to say it only included a jacuzzi not a hot tub but that she would contact the manager. Colin, the general manager arrived at our room promptly and said he was told we had a hot water issue (which was later confirmed as miscommunication between the lady I was texting and Colin). Colin tried to say our room was ocean view (the ocean is located on the other side of the highway and blocked by houses). I brought up it said lagoon/garden view which were rooms on the other side of the hotel. He said it was Airbnb's fault as they "push what they say on their website). I booked the room directly off the bliss hotel website, not Airbnb and informed Colin of that. He then told me no room has an outside hot tub (I saw photos of a room with the hot tub on google reviews). He asked how much I paid, which was almost $500 for two nights. He was very nice and apologetic, but insisted we were in the correct room. He refunded me $100 and offered a 20% discount on our next stay. The room's thermostat is locked and goes down to 72 degrees, which is a good temperature, but while in the room it would rise. It was unbearable. I went to use the jacuzzi tub, which we paid extra for and it was broken. I notified the hotel and was told they would let Colin know. Colin said we paid extra for it and seeing we realized it was broken the next day, and paid extra for it, it would've been nice to get some money back for that as well. If you're planning to go to St Augustine based on time/day and availability (we went Friday through Sunday in November, before the St Augustine lights started), you're looking at least $60 round trip. I posted a photo of our room which states the amenities we were supposed to get and the room they put us in., which was over $100 less a night. There are so many other nice places to stay that were less money and in hindsight I wish I would've booked there and will in the future. We made the best out of it, but we won't be back. read more

Beautiful stay for a very reasonable price. I wish I could have stayed longer. About 10 miles from st. Augustine, but it was an easy drive and very nice. 3 minutes from public access beach which really made me happy. This place has a unique aesthetic and was very beautiful. Decorations were throughout, and an interesting theme. I really appreciated the stone flooring and tile in the hotel room and bathroom. The doors to the room were beautiful. Bed was very clean and comfortable, but extremely creaky on the base. Every time I turned it was very screechy. That would be an easy fix though. Loved the bathrooms natural lighting and jacuzzi tub was a plus. I liked how it didn't feel like a hotel as more as a private boutique bnb or residence. I saw several employees, but they were few and far between (which was a good thing!) I liked how I felt like I was the only one there. The property was prompt to answer my calls and messages when I had questions. The Roman dip pools were beautiful and I wish it was warmer so I could have a swim, but sticking my legs in were enough. It was beautiful to look out onto the waterway. The dock was a nice walk and very scenic. Breakfast was nice to be complimentary, a lot better than other hotels. The coffee was absolutely delicious and they offered organic milk for it which was points in my book. They also offered local pastry option which I thought was a nice touch and elevated the experience. Very glad I was able to book here, and I hope to visit again in the near future. read more

My husband and I booked for the weekend. We arrived at 4:30 when we arrived there was one car we walked inside and there was no one on the property no staff no one I received a text asking to upload my license and the make and model of my vehicle and then I received room number and code our room was second floor all the way at the end there is a sense of heaviness at this hotel the hallway was very very dim. I was very very uncomfortable I texted the lady to ask about cancellation and she said I would not refunded and she called and I explained to her I was very uncomfortable ( I am an military vet so I do have some anxieties about some places especially with the heaviness) and she explained cancellation policy once again and I hung up and I looked at my husband and he told me to book another hotel so I texted the lady and let her know we were leaving. Bliss by the sea is literally what it is. Peaceful, beautiful and very enjoyable. Clean and professionally well kept. They make the check in quite easy and guest friendly. The day of our stay we did a quick check in using our phone and within a short time everything was ready for us upon arrival access code for the hotel as well as access code to our room. So when we arrived about 8pm we just headed straight to our room. The room was beautifully decorated, it was clean and comfortable. We could not have asked for anything more as we had everything we needed. The stay was very pleasant and it made our trip so much better. Every morning it was a nice continental style breakfast and hot coffee from 8-11am it was always fresh and hot. If you're looking for a huge pool and fitness center this isn't the place but a nice clean hot tub and small pool size of a hot tub this is your place. This is a nice bed /breakfast type of a stay when you don't have kids and you wanna get a way for a few days with your significant other this is the place. This is a place close to the beach and minutes away from all the fun stuff. Definitely will be back here for a visit. read more

This is a gem many people have not discovered it and I would like to keep it that way because that'll give me opportunity to book it more often it's right on the inlet opposite the ocean side with view of water and beautiful garden and all windows on the back of the dining room area and breakfast area! This morning I was watching The hurricane rain coming down and enjoying my delicious and proper croissants with some great coffee and what do you know they have 4% milk and almond milk to go with it your choice! Also nice quality jams and Nutella my one of my favorite things since European I am well aware of that as I was a boy! The room I rented was awesome clean very nice I believe my room had a full mattress which was really comfortable and the shower was beautiful walking shower water pressure was excellent none of this slow drip let me save some money on the water place that I encounter on my other travels! Beautiful travertine tiles on the wall and in the shower area just all in all good! Lots of parking for the guests. Pretty good Wi-Fi too I was able to update my Tesla while it was parked in front which I appreciate thank you! I booked a reservation for a room for January 25, 2025, I was flying into Destin, Florida, meeting friends, then driving 4 1/2 hours across state to St. Augustine on !/25/25. However, due to a severe winter storm my flight from Texas was cancelled and then the governor of Florida announced a Emergency Weather Warning asking people not to attempt to drive on the highways. When I tried to contact Bliss By the Sea to cancel, I could not reach a person but left several messages. After two days of attempts, Hotel staff advised that they could not cancel and I must cancel through Travelocity. Travelocity advised that Bliss by the Sea must approve cancellation to avoid penalty. after two days, I was notified that Bliss By the Sea denied the request and would charge me a penalty for cancelling. this is very disappointing and I really wanted to stay there is the future, but I will never. read more

I share MY OPINION: I booked a 2-night stay and paid weeks in advance. Their cancellation policy required 5-day advance cancellation notice for a full refund. Three days prior to arrival (then beyond the 5-day cancellation window) I received an "AGREEMENT" that I was REQUIRED to accept prior to check-in. I would have NEVER, EVER agreed to this if I hadn't already paid; I was, at that point, unable to cancel for a full refund. Ask to see this "REQUIRED AGREEMENT" before you reserve and pay. I am NOT a lawyer but after reading it, in MY OPINION, this agreement releases Bliss by the Sea from ALL liabilities and FURTHER requires the GUEST to "INDEMNIFY and HOLD HARMLESS Bliss by the SEA", blah, blah, blah... This was to be a 50th Anniversary, NOT an exercise in understanding and AGREEING TO over 1200 words of legal mumbo-jumbo regarding my Release and Waiver of Liability, and me giving Indemnity to this hotel. I was expected to agree - but the likely alternative was that I would forfeit my fully paid reservation by not agreeing. This is not required at Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott, or Hyatt. Once burned, twice smart... After "agreeing" and checking in it got worse: There was a deep Jacuzzi tub with NO GRAB BARS to enter - what a safety hazard! - do the math 50th Anniversary. The ONLY shower was within the Jacuzzi tub but you couldn't take a shower because the bracket to hold the shower wand was REMOVED from the wall (so spray wand in one hand and wash with the other hand - quite enjoyable.) Management said they removed the wall bracket for the shower wand due to a leak - my problem? No anti-slip Jacuzzi/shower mat and many anti-slip "dots" were missing from the Jacuzzi bottom - another safety hazard that made me "happy" that I waived liability. The Jacuzzi drain stopper was broken and loose in the tub. Then: A Flatscreen TV with NO NETWORK CHANNELS, just in my opinion, dozens of rerun, shopping, old movie, IPTV junk channels. Management advised me to use my Netflix, Prime, etc. credentials. I missed my three favorite network programs that evening. Enjoyable... There was no desk for a computer - just dresser tops and there was very limited space in bathroom for cosmetics. It got cool in the room and the thermostat was LOCKED in cooling mode - another call to management to get heat. The elevator safety inspection license that was posted in the elevator had expired last year and, surprise, that gave me a good feeling. My room was on the front side of the building and the balcony door had a big gap that would not seal so the road noise all night precluded restful sleep. After this experience, I will in the future, CHECK with the county clerk of court websites for any LEGAL ISSUES before committing to pay for lodging at Boutique Hotels, family-run establishments, and B&B's. If I had done my due diligence for this establishment (it only takes about 5 minutes), I would have found Case Number CC25-0925 at the St. Johns County clerk of courts website. Oh my gosh! Oh my Gosh!! Under the circumstances and due to my feeling of unease and discomfort, I absolutely could not stay the second night and vacated one day and many $$$ early. This little place is a slice of heaven. I'm a cleaner myself so it's hard to impress me with cleanliness and this place was white glove clean. Virtual check in was a little odd but it worked. We loved our stay here. My only complaint is the roof top was not accessible due to it being private for the penthouse guest. Pictures show the area but you can not access that area. read more

This place is a Hidden Gem on the inlet side of Crescent Beach. It boast large rooms with very comfortable beds. The sun sets are just breathtaking. If you are lucky, you might even see some wildlife. On our we saw, a family of four Dolphins manatees sharks jellyfish and a raccoon. read more

My husband booked this hotel for our 6th wedding anniversary. Not being in St Augustine was a concern but we were pleased with the accommodations. What we are not pleased about is the utter lack of service when you are there! No one was ever present at the font desk a tv would pop on with a person to "help" you. First night we arrived late as we expected and made hotel aware. This wasn't a problem because there's no one there! There was one parking spot left in the parking lot (very small) and we had a truck as many others did too, we barely fit! The second night we spent the day in town, so when we arrived back st the hotel we just wanted to unwind and relax to a movie. NO! The internet was down all day and night! They said it was from wind but the restaurant next door was fine! After trying to get something on my tablet or tv for two hours I gave up, when I called I didn't get a person. I texted and emailed since that's how they get you, some e called us and told us there was nothing they could do, no refund of any kind cause it's an act of god? Fast forward to check out! I unfortunately forgot my car keys in the night stand I called them the next day and was told they had them right away! I was relieved but was then told they don't SHIP! Anything! WHAT? So only people that live there stay there? How is a guest supposed to get there items? Especially when it's car keys? The woman then said with a huff I'll have to go to the post office now! I said just send it C.O.D. She said no I have to get a price and get back to you! Three days later she came back with a price. $25 to ship my keys back to me, I live 3 hours away in Florida. Ok so I send her $25 via Venmo since she won't ship without getting paid and all I got was a "Got it" no shipping number or anything! I got the package yesterday! 10 days after being there! The price to ship? Less than $7! These people are horrible! Wouldn't recommend hotel because of them! My stay was 3/21-3/23 so very recent! read more

This could have been a great spot, but heads up, they might not let you in, especially if it's past midnight. Even if you have Booking confirmation and let them know you plan to check in late. Plus, they don't bother telling you if anything changes on their end. When you try to talk to them, all you get is a half-hearted "okay, sorry" - no real effort to sort things out. This is not the expected standard of hospitality, and frankly, it was a huge letdown for me. One more thing, the parking is limited to about 12 spots. This could be another factor that might make your stay memorable for the wrong reasons. Don't be swayed by the nice pictures and sweet prices; be aware that these people do not care about your experience at all. read more

Everything was so peaceful and Victoria our housekeeping Rep was super sweet! Breakfast selection was fresh and the guava pastries were delish! Quite a few grab and go local bakery options so I loved that. Coffee was hot and flavorful with milk alternatives. Jacuzzi tub was AMAZING. Only thing I'd like to see is a more modern showerhead, it's adjustable but a little challenging. The room was just A LITTLE overcrowded with furniture, but not necessarily an issue, just a personal opinion. Maybe take a chair or two out. But we loved the Asian aesthetic and it was the perfect get away with views in the front of the ocean and the back of Matanza(sp) River! BBTS is going be out our new getaway spot when we visit family down here! Thanks so much for everything! Adorable boutique hotel. Stunning sunset view. I love the long dock, the breakfast, and the staff. The landscaping needs a little work. Our room was clean and comfortable. The decor of the hotel is really neat. We had a king sleigh bed that was very comfortable. The virtual check-in and computerized front desk was new for us, but worked well and our calls and texts were answered immediately. Stay away from this place if you're sensitive to smells like deodorizers and cleaning products. It's overpowering the minute you walk in. Management was insensitive and unwilling to work with me. Bliss By The Sea is the most unique hotel experience I've ever had. You must be comfortable with a hands-off experience, similar to a bed and breakfast. For example, most of the communication between me and the Bliss By The Sea staff was via text message. And the staff is very, very responsive to text messages. My messages were usually returned within seconds. Check-in was via text message. And, if I needed additional assistance, I simply texted and had what I needed immediately or in short order. The room we stayed in had all the modern conveniences one would expect. It was a corner room with plenty of natural light. The style reminds me of old-world Spanish, although I am not a style expert by any measure. The furnishings were old but beautiful and accented the room well. They made us feel like we were visiting a relative's home. The complimentary breakfast was scrumptious! It was a mix of cheeses, egg dishes, meats, pastries, cereals, and beverages. Again, as one might expect elsewhere but with a European flavor and style. The weather was uncharacteristically poor and I would not have minded staying in the room the whole weekend. It was that comfortable. Additionally, our room had a balcony that provided a lovely view and comfortable seating. Bliss By The Sea is billed as one of the most romantic hotels in the St. Augustine area and it lives up to its billing. You cannot help but be struck by the uniqueness of the entry-level common area and your room. My girlfriend cried after we entered the room because she thought it was so romantic!
