If you can forgive a little roughness around the edges, and you use the common areas, this can be a great experience. If I could break down this Inn's features, I would give the room 2.5 stars, the common areas 4 stars, and the breakfast 4 stars. We met this couple from Atlanta and we had a great time getting to know them, so 5 stars for that. Now the 'needs improvement' area, the room (ours was the Dogwood). Floors boards were cupped, and both the doors to the shower and toilet would not close due to the house settling. The doors to the upstairs common balcony would not easily open and all the locks were damaged or missing. The saving grace was the bed was super comfy! Even with the issues with the room we do plan on returning.

NEW MANAGEMENT! Important to note cause prior reviews were kind of cray... We were traveling to the area for a wedding and happened to stumble upon the mansion as an option for lodging. I immediately took advantage since I knew rooms there would be limited and boy am I glad I did! We opted to stay at the Pump House which is located outside of the main house. It was smaller than expected but has all the amenities you would need when staying away from home. The rooms in the mansion definitely seemed bigger and each had a different vibe/feel to it- I creeped into most of them to check them out. House dates back to 1845 so we are talking loads of history and mega cool feels. The innkeepers were awesome. Sweetest couple ever! We had a lovely breakfast every morning and there's also a little cafe right up the street if you want to venture out. It's a quiet residential area so not a whole lot of activity outside of the mansion. Location is right in the historical part of Micanopy. Very close to Paynes Prairie and about a 15-20 min ride to Gainesville and 20 minute ride to Ocala. Definitely enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to a future visit if ever in the area!

Such a cozy place with unique charm! The staff was incredibly friendly and the breakfast was made with love & some of the best pancakes I've ever had! They have coffee and tea out all day for the guests with such delicious mini muffins. I took like 10 of the banana and pumpkins won when we left for outings. Right down the street is the cutest historic area full of antiques and vintage items. Walking distance! This place was quaint, beautiful, and overall a wonderful b&b that I highly recommend!

This B&B is very nice, quiet and everyone was very friendly, trying to make our stay very pleasant. The house is beautiful! Trying to help them I have to I was disappointed by the breakfast. The website showed wonderful pancakes and we got spinach pie with bacon and grits which weren't good on an empty stomach. They should change that photo on their web.

I travel often to Gainesville to visit my daughter and events at UF. The Herlong is my favorite place to stay although it's much further out then the local hotels closer to school. I have this rating a four due to they are no longer accepting Collect & Redeem from Hotels.com. It's unfortunate for me because they do have availability but I'm unable to redeem and so I'd have to book elsewhere.

I have never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast before. The Herlong is as gentle as it is steeped in history. I may never be able to stay at a Hilton again after this experience. Treat yourself next time you are in the Ocala area of Florida. You won't go wrong.

From the street, Camellia Rose appears to be a well maintained historic looking building. It's a pretty decent size with a nice yard and water fountain out front as well as nice parking. When we arrived, Mrs Pat met us at the door and welcomed us in. She showed us around and scheduled a time for breakfast. She told us to call if we needed anything and was very sweet. We went to a ballgame and had dinner and then went to Rockeys in town before heading back. When we got back we immediately got in the big jacuzzi tub. (We stayed in anticipation). There's bathing salt provided which made it even better. The temperature and water pressure was great, everything was very clean and taken care of. There were a lot of little details that made the room even better. The bed was comfy- my honey didn't want to get up the next morning due to how soft the bed was. I ended up getting him up and we went and got coffee and sat out front for a few minutes before breakfast. Once it was served, we had fresh sweet fruit, some kind of egg dish that was my absolute favorite (the boyfriend stated I needed to "up my breakfast game" the next time I cooked haha), sausage, and a really good pumpkin bread that I could barely eat because I was so full. We refilled our coffee and sat on the upper balcony for the rest of our stay which was relaxing. It was a little chilly but there was a small blanket in our room I could cover up in as I sipped my coffee. All in all a very great place to stay and we look forward to returning! PROS: - very quiet and relaxing; not like a hotel room where people are yelling in the halls randomly - Excellent breakfast that will have you extra full and ready for the day - I recommend definitely getting a room with the big tub. I would stay in it all day with a book if I could - clean and well maintained - quick uber/drive away from everything - great patio to relax in the mornings or nights

A large mermaid statue greets you, surrounded by whimsical decorations and beautiful artwork. The host, Joanne, is attentive while still respecting your privacy. She showed me around, answered all my questions, and made sure I knew she was just a phone call away if I needed anything. I was there to celebrate my birthday, and she had a banner over the bed and a nice bottle of champagne waiting in my room--such a thoughtful touch. You definitely won't go hungry here. There were muffins, bagels, cookies, fruit, snacks, and more than I could count. For breakfast, there were eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, and plenty of options to cook at your leisure. Drinks ranged from water and juice to soda, beer, and wine. I stayed in the Scallop Room on the ground floor. Each room has its own key, private bathroom, TV, and everything you might need. The bed was comfortable and very clean. In the evening, the owner lit the fire pit and provided s'mores so we could sit by the river, watch the sunset, and relax. Outside, there are kayaks, paddle boards, water bikes, and more. It was my first time kayaking on the river, and I had a wonderful time watching a manatee and her baby (from a respectful distance), along with fish jumping and birds diving. One of those special days I'll remember for years. The only challenge for me was getting out of the kayak at low tide .A grab bar or some support near the steps would make it easier for guests Treat yourself to a visit to Crystal River and the Crystal Blue Lagoon B&B--you'll love it.

My husband and I debated where to stay and took a risk with Crystal Blue Lagoon B&B, since we couldn't find a lot of reviews online. We booked the manatee room because we were charmed by the eccentric decor (it seemed better than a potentially run down room in a generic chain hotel) and we could not have been happier with our choice! While in Crystal River, we spent a lot of money on private boat tours (Manatees in Paradise is the best if you're wondering), but you don't even need to book a tour if you stay here. They have a manatee sanctuary spring pretty much on the property (populated by 30+ manatees during our stay). Plus, they have tons of water toys you can use and everything you need to swim with the manatees on site. Many of the boat tours would anchor there so people could swim with the manatees, but we had a perfect view of them by just standing on the lawn and looking into the spring, something the people on the boat tours couldn't do. Truly, it was the best manatee experience we had in Crystal River! Our room in the B&B was comfortable, clean, and completely charming, if not luxurious. It feels a bit like visiting your most artistic friend or family member. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, which came in handy as the weather was cold during our stay. The kitchen was overflowing with a huge assortment of snacks, drinks (including wine and beer), and food you can prepare if you're so inclined. I've already recommended Crystal Blue Lagoon B&B to friends, and we will absolutely stay here next time we visit!

Charm, wonderful homemade breakfasts, friendly staff, great rooms... mine was on the 2nd floor and had its own private large balcony, accessible from the only other door up the stairs, next to the door to my room. The grounds were beautiful. I spent a good amount of time there. For just coffee, then breakfast, just before sunset in the afternoons... even just overlooking the grounds from the back porch. I walked around and looked at the different kinds of flowers... Alice pretty much does most of the landscaping. I spoke with Alice a good bit while enjoying breakfast in the garden one morning... very sweet and friendly, she truly loves the property and cares about her guests. It was my birthday weekend and my cousin and aunt contacted the BnB and spoke with Amanda. Amanda is who greeted me when I first arrived. She wished me a happy birthday and it took me some time before I figured out how she knew that. LOL When she showed me my room, I only asked about shampoo, she said because my hair was long, she guessed a 2 in 1 type of shampoo wouldn't suffice and I said, if it's something like Pantene, it would! After I returned from my afternoon out and about, there was a bottle of Pantene sitting on the decorate table outside my room. I'm not sure that it was readily available or if she actually went and bought it...but I was certainly appreciative and used it immediately. The next morning, after she read my notes on food issues (no chocolate, no almonds....) she had to ask me at breakfast what I couldn't eat again because my aunt and cousin requested gluten and dairy free, chocolate brownies to surprise me! I can and do eat gluten and dairy...but no chocolate. Amanda had in fact found gluten and dairy free brownies! They would have been wonderful...if I could eat them. Instead, she went out of her way once again and found me a vanilla cake on the fly... dressed it with hibiscus flowers and candles. She was very sweet and we talked for a while as well. Goes to show you how much they enjoy and appreciate what they do and the people they do it for. I enjoyed staying at this BnB, it encompasses old Florida and the local culture and I would definitely stay here again!
