This place is so nice to walk around and look at! I loved the butterfly fly garden! It is $12 per person to get in so keep that in mind when you come.

I visited Kanapaha Botanical Gardens for the first time and loved it. It was so serene and offered so many different types of gardens to walk through. It was a relaxing couple of hours just leisurely roaming the gardens and enjoying nature.

We so enjoyed our trip to the botanical gardens. We arrived around 3pm on a Sunday and had so much fun exploring! The botanical gardens boasts so many plants, but most notable I feel like was the huge collection of bamboo plants and their herb garden (which they said is the largest herb garden in the Southeast United States). The admission is $10 per person which I think is very reasonable. The gardens boast about 1.5 miles of trails through their plant collection. Signage was great and almost every plant we saw had a sign on it. There are lots of beautiful areas, waterfalls and even a kids garden! Definitely a recommended place to stop in Gainesville!

Visiting Gainesville and looking for something to do? Add this is your list... No matter what time of year, these gardens are absolutely beautiful. Walking the trails and enjoying the nature around you is the perfect way to relax. I tried to think of my favorite parts for this review, but I like all of it! But I guess I do favor seeing the giant water lilies and the bamboo garden. I/we always seem to notice something new as well. Of course, this is the beauty of nature...it's forever changing yet it stays the same. There is plenty of free parking, however, there is a small fee to enter the grounds. Moreover, there is a gift shop and restrooms. Plus, you are welcome to bring dogs as long as they remain on a leash.

Everything was just perfect. It was our first time visiting and I can't wait to go back. My favorite part was all the lilies!

My husband and I really enjoy exploring new botanical gardens and this one didn't disappoint (although we will definitely visit at a different time of year when more is in bloom). Not part the American Horticultural Society this garden costs $10 per adult for admission and has annual passes starting at $40 a person (there are some reciprocal gardens in Florida) there is plenty of area to walk, stop for a picnic and enjoy nature. The children's garden was spacious with play areas that include climbing and sliding as well as a giant chess set and small maze to walk through. There are areas with waterfalls and ponds as bamboo gardens and everything in between. This is the perfect place to spend a couple hours.

We had a lovely morning at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. We started on the right hand side and walked the one mile loop. They were setting up for a wedding amongst the bamboo standsZm. Then we stopped in the main office for some water, before going back out to the other side. We picked up some seeds at the front desk (sensitive mimosa) and purchased a membership. My so will come back for the orchid and Camilla sales!

First things first do not come here in February.! They had cut everything back getting ready for Springs so we only saw a couple of flowers. But this place looks like a great place to spend about 2 hours walking around looking at the types of flowers and vegetation and herbs and they have a koi pond as well. They said they have the largest bamboo garden in the state. They also have a visitor center and a gift shop. Large parking lot and the price to get in was $10 per person.

Had a great time at the gardens this afternoon! Upon entering, however, we were attacked by these huge black mosquitoes! If you have repellent, bring it with you, or they have some at the front desk. It was $10 per adult to get in and it was a beautiful day for a stroll. Even though summer is coming to a close, there is much to see and experience. Even got to see a baby gator in the koi pond!

Gorgeous and very interesting! Between the largest variety of bamboo in one place (in the state of Florida), and the largest herb garden in the southeast United States. My only regret for this visit is that I wished I had looked up when the large lily pads were in season. For some reason, I thought these would be constant and not bloom back each year - but they do! Which is almost more impressive

It small but love the everything about it , especially different kind of Ginger and Asian bamboo plants and Japanese decorations

We had questions regarding our tour and tried contacting the phone number prior to arriving in which nobody answered or returned our phone call. We were confused where the tour was at because there were no signs anywhere and nobody to communicate with. We waited at the residence for 40 minutes until a kind gentlemen walked by helped us find the creek. He told us the creek was on his property and he brought us back to where Hurley, our tour guide was at. Hurley was immediately hostile towards the man and yelled at him for "interfering with his business". We were immediately uncomfortable at the altercation and had an uneasy feeling. He began yelling at us telling us we were late and we explained how we tried to call and there were no signs anywhere and we were lost. He said "we don't have signs & don't answer phones". This business is sketchy, the people are sketchy, we were treated absolutely poorly for being paying customers. We asked for a refund because of how uncomfortable and unsafe we felt. Hurley was rude, aggressive, and unprofessional & kept his hand on his gun. He told us we were trespassing even though we paid and had a reservation. We had to call the cops on him because he was making threats and told us we would be "safer" further away from his property. He recorded us the entire time. We do NOT recommend this business. Especially if you are with no men. We felt very unsafe being two women with our children there.

And I wasn't wrong! The tour lasted about 90 minutes (and it leaves promptly FYI) and takes you along the shoreline of Amelia Island - past the shrimping boats and past a Civil War era fort - before heading towards Cumberland Island National Seashore. This is where the true fun of the tour was for me. I had no idea really the history of the island and found it fascinating how the Carnegies and Rockefellers and more of the country's elite used this random Georgia seashore as their private escape. The history of both Cumberland and Amelia Islands is incredibly fascinating and the guides for both the Florida and Georgia sides respectively were well informed and personable. Plus - you'll very likely see a ton of great wildlife throughout including dolphins and wild horses and pigs. It's a great way to spend an afternoon in the area and a fabulous introduction to Cumberland Island National Seashore/Park.

Scott, our tour guide was so fun and played the 90's music while we rode the fun golf cart ride! One of my favorite one was the wine and cheese spread at the top floor of cathedral with a beautiful view of the city. The eggplants spread, goat cheese with honey on a rustic bread was amazing and the wine was wonderful. What a fun way to explore the historic st. It most definitely didn't seem that way! They DID get back to me via text, but it wasn't in a quick fashion. I'd say an semi-acceptable fashion (within 8-12 hours.) Regardless, we DID get our event scheduled for a private tour with (15 people.) It was quite an expensive 'private tour' of the night of lights that was explained to me as tho the grinch (driving one trolly) and Santa (driving another trolly) would interact with one another (more than minimally) and make the tour exclusive to all 15 of us. They would hop off one trolly and interact with the passengers of the other trolly, etc. In reality, it was NOT a collective tour. The grinch separated from the other trolly and it was essentially two separate tours. Approximately 3-4 times they interacted with one another (acting as tho one would hit the other's trolly, yelling insults at Santa, responding to the grinch, and stopping at the 'duck bar' for the ambush together.) The address to initially meet at is kind of hard to find, even with GPS, as well! There is NO indication of 'the tasting tours' business name on the store front at the address. It is a Cuban bakery.' YES, we all had a good time.... But I don't want the rest of you that book a 'private' tour to be mislead or pay for something you won't receive. *** I also find it distasteful that the company charges an unprecedented amount of money for the trolly rides and then has the audacity to send an email asking for further tip for the trolly drivers.*** Whether a patron tips or not is up to them, not a business owner requesting it!
