We were back in Gainesville, and since it was a cold, rainy day, we decided to h go again using our North American Reciprocal museum membership. In exactly one year, they had changed and updated practically the whole museum except the Cade/Gatorade section which was partly updated. I was impressed. This is a great museum for kids of all ages ,and adults too, especially if they are interested in STEM, creativity and inventing. Plenty of fun, hands-on learning and inspiration for future careers. read more

What a fun place to come explore and learn. I love museums and this one was fantastic. Love how interactive this place is. They had such a cool gift shop with a bunch of neat merchandise. I lived being able to go into the Fab Lab and explore all their tech including the Printing Press. The staff is super helpful and friendly. What to do on a rainy afternoon in Gainesville? Visit the Case Museum that's what. The museum is geared towards children, with multiple interactive stations where they can be creative but adults can learn something here as well. I really enjoyed the exhibit on Dr Cade, the museum's namesake and and inventor of Gatorade. The outside property is nice with a bridge and paved walkway, although our walk got cut short by the lightning detector On-site parking is free and admission for adults is $15 There is also a small gift shop. We had so much fun at the Cade museum! My nieces are super into technology and tinkering, and this was just the place for them! My parents really enjoyed it too--fun for all ages! There are lots of interactive things to do. When we went, they had a gentleman (who was so informative and sweet) teach us how to spin yarn and how to tie dye with sharpie. In the Fab Lab, they had screen printing, block printing, circuit making, and a harmonograph. Lots to do and take home whatever you make! Upstairs was my favorite--Edison's Pile of Junk! They give kids a task card (my niece's was "make a bed for a possum"), then a brown paper bag filled with "junk" (cupcake liners, Pom poms, cardboard pieces, etc). You need to make whatever the task card says with whatever they give you! As a teacher, I truly appreciated the creative outlet this place gives children and adults! We will be back! read more

Got a chance to finally visit the Cade Museum properly recently. I have been to the museum a couple of times before, but each time was for an awards ceremony so I only got to see the main foyer, and not the exhibits hosted throughout the building. When you enter the building and get past the reception area where you pay for admission, you enter the main foyer where there are a number of small exhibits and places for children to listen in rapt fascination to various lectures about various bits of science. On the far side of the foyer there are doors that lead back outside, and a patio area where Cade staff perform hands-on experiments that you can participate in. I saw exhibits going into classical physics and chemistry there. Back inside, to the North side of the foyer is the Gatorade exhibit, and exhibit dedicated to the inventions of the museum's namesake, Dr. James Robert Cade. He invented a number of things that were to do with sports medicine and the care of athletes, his largest of course being the invention of Gatorade. To the Southwest of the foyer there is the Creativity Lab and the Fabrication Lab, where you can learn all about the processes of creating new inventions and also how things are fabricated. The fabrication lab also holds a printing press and a number of 3D printers where you can design your own small objects. Upstairs there are a number of travelling exhibits. These exhibits change on a regular basis, so it is good to go on the website and see what is in there currently. In all I really enjoyed my time at the museum. I used to love going to science museums as a kid (I would take the bus on my own in Toronto to go visit their science museum... at the age of 10!) and this brings me back to that time in my life. read more

My former review was up a long time, letting guests know that babies weren't the top priority for the cade. Which is fine, but not super accommodating for families with kids of various ages. My now five year old really enjoys the Cade. There are stations of activities that littles enjoy. Even my five month old baby was intrigued because there was brightly colored blocks and things. But there is still this weird Industrialized vibe and aesthetic that makes it feel unfriendly. STEM doesn't have to mean stainless steel, y'all. For example, they have this baby time, Little Sparks and activity stations. The stools at those stations are impossible for kids under ~3 to safely sit at. I mean, I'm not mad, I chuckled. My very independent 2.5 year old was leaned way over and I thought she was gonna fall. But she didn't. It seems like Cade had this beautiful vision that was more design focused than practical. Kids need backs to their chairs. And it doesn't have to be all bright colors, but a playful kids museum like Glazer in Tampa has tons of STEM activities and frankly, it's more fun. Cade is working hard to have something for everyone and I appreciate that a lot! But I just don't think it's going to be our families' favorite indoor hang in Gainesville. read more

The building was designed by GWWO Architects in Baltimore. Construction took place from April 2016 to November 2017 by Oelrich Construction. In May 2018, the museum was officially opened. The opening of the museum took place in the setting of a revitalization process in downtown Gainesville. The interior of the museum has windows to allow for light. The building's design is in the spiral shape of a nautilus shell that reflects math concepts like the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio. Exhibits There are exhibits on inventions and technology that came from the University of Florida.The museum has one wing dedicated to Dr. Cade, which has his lab from the University of Florida and information about the development of Gatorade. This was ok, we were there on Veterans Day so it was HEAVILY discounted & I would have been pist if I paid full price for this place. It's just that I expected more, maybe more exhibits. The main one advertised was "food revolution" & it was really not anything surprising or new, but would be educational for small children. Many hands on exhibits hosted by college students. Again, nothing surprising but fun. My older kids enjoyed the working printing press. They also had an exhibit called Cuban ingenuity which was really interesting, showing how Cubans had to jimmy rig sooo many things in their daily lives w the limited amount of goods they have available. Stuff we take for granted of course. (Blenders, washing machines, bicycles, refrigerators, toys). If u come here w children make time for the park next door. That's a great park. read more

I stumbled upon the Cade Museum as I was searching for new field trip venues for my first grade class. Immediately, I was intrigued by its mission: to inspire future leaders, inventors, entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, and creative thinkers and makers. The permanent museum building will be a central feature of a beautifully reconstructed Depot Park in downtown Gainesville. It's currently under construction and the first phase is projected to be completed in late 2015 (?), but the museum's Creativity Lab is open for classes and camps. The offerings range from Lego Robotics to labs linking art/music with science. These are open for all children and families to sign up online, and they also set aside a week every month for school field trips. Yesterday, our class went on their field trip for a "Magnificent Matter" lab, led by the program director Patty Lipka. It was so incredibly informative, creative, hands-on, messy (in the very best of ways), and just plain FUN. Many of the kids proclaimed it the "best field trip ever," and the adults (myself included) had just as much fun as they did. Patty's enthusiasm was instantly infectious. She knew just how to keep the us laughing, learning, and engaged for the entire two-hour lab, which, let me tell you, is not an easy feat to pull off with a gaggle of extra-rowdy 6- and 7-year-olds. She customized the lesson perfectly to suit the students' grade level and interests, and she started off the lab with a BANG (literally)! The kids were able to take home what they created during the experiments, and I received a bag containing all the ingredients I'd need to conduct one of the experiments on my own. The folks over at the Cade Museum are clearly passionate about establishing an educational culture that encourages curiosity and a love of learning. All-in-all, it was pretty much the perfect field trip experience. It's definitely one that I'll be taking my classes on every year. It seems to be relatively unknown to most of the staff and parents at my school, so I'm happy to spread the word. Gainesville is lucky to have such a great resource to add to its growing innovation culture, and the Cade Museum deserves all the support it can get. Once the park and new building are open, I'm absolutely certain that the Cade will quickly become one of the centerpieces of our little town. Mark my words. read more

Great interactive museum in Gainesville for all ages! Overlooking Depot Park, the museum and surroundings were intentionally designed to follow the Fibonacci spiral and sequence. We spent 3 hours here and could've stayed longer. History of Gatorade was my favorite part but was only one exhibit. Other exhibits at the time explored inventions, inspiration, and various aspects of science and technology. There is also an exhibit that rotated monthly. When I went in December 2018, the rotating exhibit was "biomimicry" which explored creations inspired by nature. For example, the Japanese bullet train, Shinkansen, was inspired by the kingfishers long, barrow beak which minimized splashing upon impact to water. We also enjoyed the fab room by the entrance which has 3D printers, a spirograph and much more. Had a lot of fun playing with the spirograph to make cool designs. The UF students who work/volunteer at the museum are all really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! This is a great place to take children to get them thinking about science, the way things are and how to solve problems in the real world. read more

I'm surprised to see a 4.5 star overall rating! My wife and I were in town and took my daughter. $37.50 for the 3 of us. I'll admit I'm very jaded when it comes to museums, but this was a big disappointment. The Gatorade exhibit is interesting, but the rest of the displays are sub par. There is a Cuban "invention" display... "people using limited resources to make their lives better" should have been the tag line. I don't recommend the the Cade Museum. read more

We held the wedding reception for my daughter and her new husband at Cade Museum. The events coordinator (Amanda) is extremely competent and she handled everything well--even stepping in at the end to ease a problem we experienced with another vendor. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and easy to decorate for a wedding. Cade can put up twinkly lights; they set up the tables and chairs, they have a projection system to show photos. Flowers and candles for the tables and you are set. The staircase facilitated a grand entrance for the bridal party and was great for extended family photos. There was plenty of space for all our guests and for the DJ and space to dance. Truly if you are looking for a venue for a special event, we highly recommend the Cade Museum! read more

The Cade Museum is a great place for all ages . I took my Grandsons with two friends. Ages from 5 to 11. We were there from 10:30 until 2:00. We only left because they were hungry. The staff took so much time with each one . As if were the only ones there which we weren't. We all learned so much . I highly recommend The Cade Museum. The Year Membership is affordable. read more

We visited the Cade Museum last month with our two boys age 9 and 11. The building and grounds are lovely. There was excitement about our first visit and expectations and were high, unfortunately they weren't met- especially for the price of the admission. The Gatorade history exhibit was the most interesting and engaging. The labs and other exhibits were less so. My children and I were finished within an hour. For such a large space, and admission price, so much more content and engagement could be installed. We hope the museum grows and thrives in the wonderful new Depot Park area. We'll wait to hear that the inventive content has grown more substantial before visiting again. read more
