Got to stop in to Blind Bob's for a really late lunch after my meetings for the day. Really glad that I did! As soon as I stepped in the door, I knew I picked the right place.. It was kind of dark and dingy with lots of neon beer signs, PBR galore. These types of places always seem to have the best burgers! After browsing the menu for a while (so many good sounding options!) I decided to go with the Ragin Cajun burger and some waffle fries. The burger was stuffed with bacon and bleu cheese. What?? It also had more bleu cheese on top and some Cajun seasoning. It was incredible.. So juicy. Also, the waffle fries were probably the best I've ever had. Do you ever go out with a group of people, struggle a bit to choose the "perfect" option from a list of VERY tempting choices, and then, once your meal arrives, spend the rest of the meal secretly wishing you had ordered what someone else had ordered?!? Me? ALL THE TIME!! But NOT at this Sunday's UYE so expertly planned out by Columbus' own MIKE G., and the Dayton/Springfield "irregulars," including Libby V. and Kimball... It's hard to find a good brunch spot, and even harder to make a choice that bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch, and since the Mr. and I did have a very early breakfast (but I still LOVE breakfast foods any time of day!!) I had my work cut out for me with BB's eclectic menu choices. Didn't really want more eggs, though their omelet choices look great, not really in the mood for a burger, I was browsing the app. menu and the interesting sounding sandwiches (great meat-eater and veggie options) when I saw the special of the month, the "awful waffle." Chicken with spinach and melted American cheese with maple syrup on a waffle might not have been part of my "agenda" when I sat down, but if anyone else near me had gotten one and I didn't, I might have died of jealousy... LOVED it, so much in fact that I resisted the urge to gobble it all down (helped to have great company and lots to talk about at our UYE, thanks again MIKE G.!!) so I could have leftovers. The Mr. also loved his Teriyaki chicken sandwich and homemade chips. $2 Bloody Mary?!? Icing on the cake!! Came here after someone from Dayton recommended it so I knew I wouldn't be steered wrong. When I walked in, I was apprehensive! It is literally a large dingy bar, in an oddly charming way. We started with the bourbon chicken wings, they were such a great start to the meal and set our standards high. Next we tried the fried pineapple rings, they were awesome but way too rich to share with just two people. I could only eat one but they made for an awesome snack later! Neat little bar with lots of personality. They had some great live music. We had some very delicious burgers but you have to try the deep fried pineapple rings. These are absolutely amazing especially with the cinnamon dipping sauce . One major drawback to Blind Bob's was our waitress. Every time she came by I felt like we were putting her out to do simple little things like bring us ketchup. She brought us the checks and came back four times before I had a chance to put money into the folder. Blind Bob's, how have I not left you a glowing review! On a roadtrip to Dayton, we stopped by here to enjoy some delicious local flavor. Bob's is a dive bar with worn out mahogany wood and high ceilings. It's old, it's seen everything, this adds to its charm. My favorite part was getting to play board games while we waited for our food to come out. We busted out Guess Who and had a rousing few games minus a few vital faces. I can't remember the last time I've played Guess Who. This was a blast! For appetizers, we had fried pickles with Tzatziki sauce and Hula Hoops: battered and fried pineapple rings served with a sweet coconut sauce. Delicious! For my main, I had the Island Delight Burger: a half-pound patty, stuffed with pineapple, pepper-jack cheese, teriyaki glazed with wasabi mayo. A juicy, succulent burger; I never knew how good a sandwich could be with ingredients stuffed inside the patty. My wife and I seated ourselves as is customary at Blind Bob's. A waiter came over and said he would be back in a minute. We waited for 30 minutes and he, nor anyone else, ever came back. He came by our table several times, but never even looked our way. We finally just got up and walked out. We've been to Blind Bob's a couple of times before with parties of six to eight. We just started coming back to Blind Bob's regularly and it makes me wonder how we ever stopped. The service is awesome, friendly, attentive. The food is amazing, fresh, high quality, high end, delicious. Hula hoops are a must try, battered and fried pineapple rings with a sweet dipping sauce. The sauce is so good you could drink it, the hula hoops always come out hot, crispy and amazing. I've also had: The Screamer, a teriyaki chicken sandwich with wasabi mayo, and pineapple - amazing, well cooked, cool combo of flavors. Patchouli Papa - the world's best omlette, it sounds like there is too much in it, there isn't, it's exactly right. Their home fries are battered and fried and so so tasty. Pita chips and hummus are also a great add to any dish, though I will say I feel like the portion of hummus they give you both as a side and as an app is pretty stingy. I have to agree with most reviews. Their food is outstanding. We tried a few different burgers, fried pickles, and the chili cheese fries. Fantastic waffle fries and a great selection of local craft brews from Dayton and surrounding area as well as other craft brewery's nearby. The service and atmosphere was what brought my rating down to 3 stars. Originally we sat under a speaker that was blaring music so loudly we couldn't hear each other or the server speak. We kindly asked to move and our experience quickly improved. Not 10 minutes later, the speakers switched and they started playing just blaring loud music above our heads again. We even watched someone at the bar turn the volume up to the speaker. We couldn't hear our server speak, we couldn't even think straight. This is rock music just horrendously loud at 5pm on a Sunday. Lastly they started to dim the lights right as we got our food. It felt like a night club rather than a dinner location. It was very obvious that we were being treated as non-local outsiders. And it was overly obvious that we were displeased by the ambiance and our server did nothing to change that. We didn't even finish our meal, we just asked for the check and boxes and left. I want to give Blind Bob's a 3.5 rating, but a 4 just seems a tad too generous. We arrived Friday at 2:00pm and grabbed a table since there were only 6 other customers at the time. It took the waitress over 5 minutes to acknowledge us and bring us our menus, but once she did she was actually quite friendly. My glass of water was kept full during our visit and our food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time once we ordered, so no complaints there. The atmosphere is DEFINITELY 100% pure bar, from the music posters to the graffiti bathrooms to the bearded bartenders laughing it up (a little too loudly, by the way). But I knew all of this in advance and didn't care 'cause I just wanted some really good food and the Yelp reviews had me curious. The food was hot and freshly made, but we weren't in love with everything. We started with the Hula Hoops (deep fried pineapple rings with a sweet coconut dipping sauce). I was hoping for a sugar overload, but on their own the rings just tasted like hot french fry grease. However, dipping them in the super tasty coconut sauce magically made them much more edible. My husband likes pickles but thought the popular soup literally tasted like straight up warm pickle juice. Not his thing I guess. I had the Blind Bob's double cheeseburger with provolone. The bun was toasted and tasted great and the beef was actually quality meat with no chewy fillers, so I was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint was that it didn't taste seasoned at all (salt & pepper, please!). My husband's Reuben was super messy but he swore it was amazing. He even liked it more than the one we shared at Dublin Pub so that's saying a lot. The highlight for us were the homemade potato chips & garlic dip. Insanely delicious! The chips were thick and crispy without being greasy, and the dip was so thick and flavorful (and also good smeared on my hamburger bun). We also shared some waffle fries, which were also hot and crispy but not as "special" as I was expecting after reading the reviews on here. Honestly, they just tasted like Arby's curly fries. The prices were average and the interior was clean so huge thumbs up there. The patio looked cute but really small and all of the male staff kept running out there to smoke cigarettes right by the entry door, so that was a turn off. Overall, Blind Bob's offers more creative choices and better quality food than your typical local bar...but it's still just a bar that serves food, not a "real" restaurant, so don't get your hopes up. read more

My husband and I had been to Blind Bob's before, but had never eaten there. We did today! We got there a little after 1 for lunch and Angel was our server (at leaat that'swbat the receipt said ). She said we were her very first customers for the day! I have no idea why.. the food was excellent, came out hot and delicious, the tables were clean and VERY spaced out for safety and the service was friendly and attentive. we never had to ask for anything. If you care to have a delicious dining experience with staff that isn't full of it then come here. Blind Bob's has a menu that will please most and is happy to accommodate reasonable requests. My wife and I walked in with the intention with getting an order of fries to share, but we decided on a burger platter. We forgot to ask to have the meal split, but they served it portioned evenly for us both. The happy hour specials met our personal needs, and we ended up staying to chat with other patrons far after our meal was over. The environment is friendly and forgiving, so we have decided to come back and explore more of the options the menu has to offer. We had the pleasure of having Jim Bob as our bartender. After feeling not so great on a Sunday morning after a long Saturday night, Blind Bob's came to my rescue. The atmosphere is divey, the bartenders have tattoos and I couldn't be happier. I sat at the bar and was immediately served a never ending glass of water. The guy made a constant effort and even joked about my hangover. I went with the suggestion to get a burger and decided to get waffle fries and their garlic dip on the side. My patties were perfectly cooked and the bun was fluffy and toasted. My waffle fries were well seasoned and very tasty along with the garlic dip. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night of beer drinking or a relaxing lunch (especially when your craving a burger and fries). I wanted to like this place as it was suggested to me by a bartender at another place. My first impression upon walking in was just a hole-in-the-wall bar. Not a big deal, I'm from a small town, I've experienced this. But after sitting down and about 10 minutes in, there was a superiority complex that was borderline pretentious about the place. Granted, I was there on Friday for dinner before the drinking crowd showed up (money). But, the bartender was kind of an asshole and was seemingly there to please his friends from other restaurants that came by for food. He was attentive, but I felt uncomfortable with the looks he gave and how I was getting served. It was a small thing to me I was hoping would be redeemed by the food. I started with garlic pita and hummus. The hummus was standard fare and was good quality. The pita was toasted/fried to a very dark brown and overly garlic seasoned. So, I looked over the menu throughly for the main course. A chicken sandwich called, "The Screamer". The chicken sandwich was great. It includes fresh grilled pineapple and a surprising Wasabi sauce that really complimented the palate. It came with a side of house fried chips which were nice. There wasn't a huge selection of beer on tap, 4-5 I think. And really only one beer that wasn't a national brand. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back. There's possibly something special in the kitchen, but I couldn't possibly break through the ego I was getting hit in the face with. read more

Bob gets the fifth star after dinner tonight with my folks and little brother. I've been meaning to get a bit to eat here and was glad I did. The fried pickles and fried mac and cheese were both good, but the sandwiches were great. My dad really liked his reuben, my mom said her "Screamer" (chicken sandwich) was good, my brother bashed a cajun stuffed burger, I had the falafel - it was the junk, and the lady had the fish sandwich (Seadogg?) which was also good. Since I'm not a big meat person let me tell you about the falafel. I've eaten a lot of this stuff over the years. This is the most unique and possible the best (breaking the top 3) falafel I've had in recent memory. It looks like most, but has a very interesting flavor, with a hint of cinnamon. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and the sauce bring it on home. A must try for the vegetarians and anyone who digs the stuff. Don't forget the waffle fries. Eat there, drink there, and be merry - you need to want to go to here. This place is the junk - my highest rating (and my wife gives it five stars because she wasn't afraid to touch the surfaces in the bathroom). Now I'm just worried about Tank's. read more

This was my go-to place when I lived in Dayton. Cheap Beer, Good Karaoke on Wednesdays, Great Food. A lot of great out of town bands end up here, and they have a good stereo system. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is half the people working here are a**holes. Bryan Brady in particular. I don't think I've said one word to that guy, but he hates my guts. After a morning around town, we swung back to the Oregon District and headed over to Blind Bob's for lunch. We came in around mid-afternoon on the weekend, and it wasn't crowded at all - a few people at the bar and a couple tables occupied, but otherwise it was easy to get seated. Our waitress was very helpful in recommending particular choices and got our food pretty quickly. The ambiance is very laid back, and it looks like there's a space for live music, and there's an old-school jukebox that you can play some older classics on. The beer selection here is top-notch; I went with a 21st Amendment Back to Black IPA in a can. Aside from the fact that the beers are priced at amazing levels (at least to these NYC eyes), you really do have a wide variety of brews to choose from, not just regional crafts. The only downside is that they were out of some varieties even though it was the mid-afternoon, but it's not a huge deal. If you're in the mood for a burger, though, get Blind Bob's burger. While I wouldn't say it was the most flavorful I've had, it's pretty much a cross between In-N-Out and Shake Shack in NYC - thinner patties like the former, but a texture and heartiness reminiscent of the latter. It's great, and for $8, you also get a side. I spent the extra buck to substitute potato salad, which was very good - not too creamy and doused with mayonnaise. Blind Bob's looks like it'd be a fun place to be at night, but it's definitely a winner even if you're looking to sit down and have a bite. If I make back out here, I'll definitely be back for another burger and sampling the other beers available. Well done! read more

Not so cool: Having to wait literally 10 minutes to get a beer after midnight while the three bartenders, who'd been very attentive earlier in the evening when it was actually WAY more crowded, waited on literally everybody else at the bar but me, despite the fact that I was standing right by the cash register where they all had to pass me to ring up their orders. Y'know, when a person is standing at a bar waving paper money they generally would like a drink. Hey bartender lady with the glasses and bobbed haircut, I am talking to you, because you looked straight at me like, twice and totally ignored me. And yeah, I'd been tippin' so I ain't be trippin. I am new to the area and have only stopped into blind bobs for drinks, however tonight my boyfriend and I were starving and decided to try the food. We got the bourbon wings and both had the bobs burger. The food was SO good. The wings are seriously good. They were some of the best wings I have ever had. Super giant juicy wings with the perfect amount of bourbon sauce on each one. They were the perfect amount of crispy and saucy. The burgers were also great, simple but totally hit the spot and the homemade chips on the side were great as well. So we went to Blind Bob's to watch a friend's band perform and our experience was much better than our previous trips. In fact, I was forced (by my boyfriend) to sign a statement printed on the back of the receipt that said the service was great and that I had a good time. (A statement which he will whip out the next time he suggests Blind Bob's for dinner and I groan about the obnoxiously slow service.) I have to admit, the food has always been good at Blind Bob's (falafel! yum!). It's primarily the service and the very long wait times that has kept me from going back. But after this last trip I'm willing to go back a few more times, and reserve (some) judgement if the service is spotty. Or I'll just call and see if Kevin (our server this time) is working. He did a terrific job getting our appetizers out fast and keeping our drinks filled, even though people (the band members) kept joining and leaving our table. He was totally friendly (without being irritating) and our food came out mercifully fast. We had the fried pickles (awesome) and tons of waffle fries. My bourbon chicken tenders were good, though the sauce was sweeter (and more alcohol-y) than I expected. The burgers were delicious, the beers were cold, and the service was top-notch. Excellent food, reasonable price, intelligent waitstaff. I recently completed eating every menu item and have been wholly satisfied by every dish. The menu covers a lot of territory. Find something you like and try their take on it. Portions are generally large and the featured soup is always worth trying. If you have a problem with the service, you probably need to settle down. The good news is that the people you are dining with can see that you are a bad person and are wholly unreasonable with people in your service. read more
