GREAT QUALITY MATCHA! Not my favorite matcha place, but I would totally come back. The lines were extremely long, we waited in line for 30 mins which was insane. I don't think it's worth a 30 mins wait. It was a Saturday around 4pm. The service moves as quick as they can for the demand. We ordered The strawberry matcha 3.8/5 Lemon curd matcha 5/5 I'd for sure come back for that lemon curd. It's very unique and taste amazing!!

DO NOT COME HERE. Waited over an hour for the worst matcha of my life. I have had lots of matcha from Japan and California and never tasted this before. I finally understand why people say matcha tastes like grass water. Even if I was not a matcha lover, this matcha was very bland and watery. It barely even tasted like matcha... This was beyond disappointing. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. I would give this a 0/5 if I could. Also the service was horrible (only the cashier was friendly), there were a bunch of workers just hanging out, talking, very slowly making drinks. One guy took forever to take out the trash and then served as a bouncer/security for the cafe?? The workers are making their own drinks and eating in the back rather than taking care of customers. At one point I saw a worker trying to be helpful by holding a lid for a fellow coworker. He was literally just holding it. Doing nothing else. The other employee didn't even need the lid!! It just seemed like they were all high school friends hanging out. There was zero customer service at this cafe outside of the ONE nice girl who rang up our order. She also took the initiate to help us check on our drinks when one matcha latte came out and our other two drinks took an additional 30min. There is limited seating inside, so it was really packed with a lot of people standing and waiting for their drinks as well. I don't even understand how it could possibly take so long to make the drinks. The disposable cups are readily available, the matcha is pre-made in easy-to-pour containers, the syrups have pumps, the milk just gets poured...?? I am astonished by the level of incompetency at this cafe and it is a miracle that they have such high ratings/reviews and have managed to remain open.

    Strawberry Shortcake Matcha

I love the strawberry shortcake matcha, it's perfectly refreshing for a nice day out in Georgetown. I deducted a point because they were out of straws, and they also don't have lids that you can sip through...so that was quite unfortunate. Certainly a first time for a drink shop to be out of something crucial to consuming the drink! as far as ambiance, there isn't too much seating and it gets pretty crowded understandably so plan accordingly! There are outlets though so if you do get lucky with a table, you're able to work. Staff was nice too. Will come back again and hopefully the store will be better prepared!

pistachio matcha latte - Nov 2025

After clocking several locals walking by with this cup I realized it was the talk of town - I just had to try it. The shop is simple and clean, albeit extremely crowded. There's a line out the wazoo but the staff have all their ducks in a row and each order gets processed fairly quickly. The seasonal beverages are flavored naturally instead of from artificial syrups and extracts. For example, the banana bread flavor comes from banana puree (brand: real infused exotics). The matcha quality is mid-tier and I think that's okay! These might be fighting words but I don't think the best quality matcha should be served at trendy shops like this. Once you add buckets of milk and sugar, the flavor from a mid-tier matcha is virtually indiscernible from a high-quality matcha, if but for the color. That being said - the matcha doesn't have the overwhelming bitter overtone the way cheap supermarket matcha does, and it also doesn't taste stale. We went in November 2025, so these flavors might be gone - I got a pistachio matcha latte and my partner got a banana bread matcha latte. They were both sooo tasty and sweet. They made the perfect treat for exploring DC. I encourage other customers to respect the employees' wishes and keep the door closed, even if there is a line going out the door. Also I hope the staff is being compensated sufficiently - the speed and diligence of the person making my drink was unparalleled and I was greeted with unexpected kindness from the staff, even though the shop was so crowded, and overstimulating. Next time I'm in DC, I'll definitely try to stop by Blank Street to check out the new seasonal flavors - maybe I'll try a coffee next time.

I've seen a lot of hype surrounding Blank Street and their frequent innovative drops, but I was genuinely disappointed after trying their matcha. The matcha lacks the earthy, smooth, slightly bitter qualities you would expect from a higher-quality product. While I'm not a matcha purist ordering Marukyu Koyamaen directly from Japan, I've had enough matcha in the NOVA and Bay Area to know what and what isn't good. My friend and I ordered the blueberry matcha and the banana bread matcha, both with the default oat milk. The drink ended up tasting like watery, ice cold oat milk with an artificial blueberry note and the faintest hint of grass. The banana bread matcha was slightly better in terms of flavor, but the cinnamon was so strong that it reminded me more of apple pie. No banana flavor in sight. Both were too sweet overall. While I can't comment on the espresso drinks, I doubt I would come back to try them out. TLDR: extremely performative; would not recommend for matcha enthusiasts

A while back I got the chance to try Blank Street and I was blown away by how good their drinks were! I was walking along the area looking for a drink and stumbled upon this unsuspecting shop that had a long line so figured I would try and find out what the hype was about. The store itself was pretty small with few seatings inside and outside. Blank Street offers both signature coffee and matcha drinks, this time opting for the special at the time, Cookies and Cream Matcha. I am a huge sucker for anything cookies and cream so it was an obvious choice! The drink was the perfect blend of the rich matcha flavor and the sweetness of cookies and cream! You can truly taste the quality of the matcha and the sweetness wasn't overwhelming at all. I was scared it would be too sweet, like some cookies and cream flavored drinks in other cafes, but I was pleasantly surprised by how balanced it was. I didn't get a chance to take a picture but I did go back to try an espresso latte and it was just as good! I would definitely recommend Blank Street for anyone looking for a delicious drink in the area!

Really love the coffee and matcha here! Haven't had a bad drink yet. The only frustrating thing is how slow the service is, even if the establishment is empty they still take their sweet time making drinks.

I was dragged here by my girlfriend. I was just expected "oh, this is just another matcha place, what's the difference" -- but I was humbled. The daydream got me daydreamin bout it because I'm a sucker for cinnamon and this was the PERFECT blend that I finished my drink within 15 minutes. Yes, there's probably a wait here, and yes, it's DC so not a lot of space inside, but, service was quick and nice. I like this place and so should you.

I got the strawberry shortcake matcha latte and it was delicious! Not too sweet and a perfect balance of the strawberry and matcha flavor. It was very busy Sunday morning, I would recommend ordering ahead online, if possible.

First time trying the matcha in this place or business. I was hesitant at first but strawberry shortcake matcha was good. If there's anything I could recommend is to have more options to lower the sugar level. I chose the lowest one but it still a little bit sweet. The taste of matcha is not being overpowered by the strawberry that's why I like it. Pricing is reasonable- my cup is only around $7. They also offer croissant and more other drink drinks and food in their menu. The service was fast, the line was passing their door when we visited but taking orders was fast. It is a small cafe with limited seats inside and outside. Still cute interior though. Parking could be tricky as it is DC, so be prepared to find street parking. Looking forward to the next season flavor.

Very crowded in there but expected and drinks came out fast. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha 8/10 - a good amount of sweetness and really tasted like starwberry shortcake - could have a stronger matcha flavor bc i definitely tasted the milk and jam more but overall really liked it Daydream Matcha 8.4/10 (bf reviewed) - tasted like cinnamon toast crunch milk - liked the cinnamon flavor

I visited this location on what had to be the coldest day ever the line was extremely long and it was hot inside. I tried to stand in the doorway and prop the door because it was so hot and it was told to close the door so we were all just stuffed inside when I finally made it to the front. There were several items that they were out of including cups for cold drinks. While that was annoying. the staff were very nice and I got my drink in a timely manner after ordering. I hope they open up more locations because there really isn't any parking in the Georgetown area and it would give other people more chances to try blink Street in the DMV.
