Unfortunately this was a cafe I had high hopes for due to the hype. I ordered a banana latte which costed $10.06 and it tastes like a cold brew coffee . It was upsetting because I paid for an extra shot of espresso but nothing about that drink tasted right. I couldn't taste the banana either . I also got a feta pastry and that coated $9.20 and that was just ridiculous . When I ate it, it was literally a block of feta in the pastry making it hard to eat because it was extremely salty. I was impressed with the amount of filling it had because it's rare to fine a filled pastry nowadays but unfortunately for this pastry I had to throw majority of the filling because the salt was overpowering. So for paying about $20 was not worth the cost. The space was cute and service was great but I wouldn't come here and pay so much money. read more

Beautiful spot and fun vibe with a lot of activity (at least during the week)! I was impressed with the amount of seating offered here and could definitely see having a meeting or two here in the future. Lots of options both beverage and food wise. Their baked goods looked delicious - I hear the giant sized cookies are top notch. We opted for lemonades - one was Strawberry and the other a Toasted Coconut. I asked for less sweet lemonade and they delivered. The Toasted Coconut was delicious and a nice twist on lemonade. Don't be fooled by the hours posted. I showed up at the scheduled opening time (7:00 AM), only to be told to return in 30 minutes. At this high price point, there are better (and cheaper) coffee options within a 2 minute walk from this spot. Not worth the effort or money. read more

Popped in for a post work iced matcha and enjoyed the great ambiance of this location! Ample seating, friendly staff and some great treats and bags of coffee to take home if you are into it. Insane prices for subpar quality and service. I rarely write negative reviews but when paying FOURTY EIGHT dollars for just 2 lattes, 2 cookies, and a feta pastry, I feel I must share. And if everything tasted great, it would be another story - but the pastry and cookies were mediocre at best, and both coffees tasted burnt and had no resemblance to their names (banana bread latte had not even a hint of banana). Service shocked me too - not a single smile, long wait for the lattes despite being the only customers there, and condescending nods in response to questions. For these prices, you'd expect nearly white-glove hospitality, not getting treated like an annoyance. The cafe is cute inside, but that's the only upside. Would not go back. read more

In addition to that, drinks are just so-so. The pastries are a stand out though. Excellent baked goods and fresh. Though, I wish they would warm up what I order after just picking it out from behind the glass display. This is my second time at For Five. The first time I came here was during their grand opening and I got an iced latte that was decent. For my second time, I wanted to try their matcha latte since i've been on a matcha kick and wondered if their matcha could beat the taste of other shops i've had in the area. It did not. I watched them make the matcha and the powder they use even when mixed is a lackluster green. Taste is also grainy. What helped was that I ordered a strawberry matcha and was able to get some sweetness from the strawberry puree at the bottom but I can only imagine how much worse it would be to just order the standard matcha latte with just milk. Four Five Roaster is a solid coffee shop with some good bakery items! I'm more of a tea drinker, and while they had some good options, I found the menu wasn't very helpful in explaining what's actually in the tea. The staff was friendly, but they didn't seem familiar with the details of the tea choices, which left me a bit in the dark when making a selection. I don't blame them, but it would've been nice if the menu had more info. That said, I tried the 360 Summer tea, which was a good herbal tea. A very cute and efficient place to work remotely. I have been here once with my friend recently. I was very happy when there were a lot of open seats, as working from certain coffee shops can be a gamble on whether there are seats. We sat at a comfy booth, which had a place to plug in my computer which was a major score. I had just had lunch and was only craving a tea. I opted for their raspberry iced tea. A small was nearly $8 which I thought was a lot for the size. I will say I tried to enjoy my tea, however, it tasted as if it did not have much flavor in it. I added simple syrup and honey (which i love that they had that sitting out and available to use). Unfortunately, nothing made the tea taste much better to me, so I drank as much as I could before I tossed it. I would come back and work here again and try a coffee instead. Got their new banana bread latte and while it doesn't taste like banana bread, the coffee is sweet and caramel-ly. Very cute ambiance and very nice staff. My main complaint is that the coffee is a bit too expensive, which makes it not worth buying on a daily basis. It has plenty of seating and work tables. I needed to find a cafe to work out of in Rosslyn this past week, and For Five Coffee Roasters was the best option out of all. I got the TIRAMISU LATTE (over $7 after tax) and asked for less sweet. The syrup did taste like tiramisu and overall, not a bad latte, just expensive. The interior was pretty cozy and spacious, and I was able to get my work done without any interruptions. Popped into For Five for a coffee before heading back to work! I admired the aesthetics of the spot and loved the spacious environment. On my visits I got the Iced Cappuccino, Matcha, and a happy hour treat. All drinks were tasty and kept me going through long work days. I will say this place is PRICEY! With drinks ranging from $6-$7, expect to be spending upwards of $20 each time you visit. The ambiance is FANTASTIC! Very modern and has a ton of room for meals or taking your next meeting from. I appreciate the productive nature of this location and can focus extremely well when working here. For happy hour, I tried their Salted Caramel Espresso Martini. It was very delicious with a nice dusting of crumbs on the side of the drink and had a strong flavor throughout. However, after tax this came out to $20 - not much of a deal after all. With this being one of my first times there with a friend it was worth the experience, however, I don't plan to purchase again. This is one of the few cafes that is actually excellent for working. The cafe is huge, and it's equipped with workspaces, and tables of all sizes. There are also several large sofas situated in front of full size windows that face the street. They offer great lunches, and the obvious coffee as well. I ordered a kale salad and cafe latte for lunch, and they had everything ready in a matter of minutes. The upstairs section is quieter, and it's where I took a seat for about a half hour. It seems like the lower section of the cafe is more transient, and there were more customers waiting for their takeout orders. Synopsis: Consistency could be better. Average drinks with great atmosphere; perfect for work from coffee shop moment. Back in March 2024, I got a lovely lavender matcha latte that was great. While it wasn't the brightest green matcha in the world, however the matcha flavor was floral and earthy; exactly what I was expecting. Coming back again in December 2024, I received a muted, dull tasting matcha latte that was not reminiscent of my previous experience. The color is incredibly pale and the flavor is not existent. It just tastes like warmed milk. I also ordered a decaf caramel latte for my decaffeinated friend and was also disappointed by the flavor here too. One of my new favorite coffee spots in Rosslyn! For five opened about a week ago and I got the chance to try it yesterday. Initially upon walking in, I was surprised by how much seating was there. There is a downstairs and stairs that go upstairs. I stopped by around 12 so it was pretty packed from lunch rush hour, but we were still able to find seating. It seemed like a great spot to come back and study/work. It did feel like the music was a little loud, so it's probably not a great spot to try and take meetings. I ordered a medium vanilla latte. They had a bunch of flavor options including hazelnut, caramel, and others. The latte was very good. I asked for it half sweet and it was perfect for me. My friend ordered a hazelnut latte which I also thought was good. It was definitely on the pricier end. I paid $7 for a medium latte. However, I thought this price was pretty comparable to compass right next door - I believe I pay around $6.5 for the same order. I didn't get a chance to try the food but they had an extensive menu!
