"New Mexico Style" LOTA Burger (no bun)
    Sam H.

I was told to try this place while visiting in town, so I did. I will admit, that I remember we had a location in AZ back in the early 70's & 80's; however, I never got to try it growing up. My co-worker recommended that I try the New Mexico burger (it was a double), so as I walked in to order and I was greeted by Zechariah. Since I have been watching what I eat, I wanted to special order my burger with no bun and use lettuce (extra order charge, which is fine). He was very accommodating, friendly and professional about. I also order the onion rings with it all to go. When I got back to the hotel, everything was still warm. The burger (not really seasoned, but had good flavor from the green chilies (that are diced). The onion rings were just onion rings, nothing special. I don't normally eat fast food burgers & sides regularly, but I was satisfied and everything was fine. This location is a regular size restaurant with plenty of seating inside and offers some outside space too. The place appeared clean and orderly. I wouldn't turn this place down if ever in an area that has a location available.

Avoid avoid avoid #worst location. Ordered 1green and I get a burrito with no eggs and a spoon of sauce. This location routinely fails. They need a real manager to keep them in line. If I had the time to drive back and throw the burrito at them I would, that bad!! Avoid this location!!

    No chile in the burrito

Blake's used to have great burritos. Then they started skimping on the green chile sauce in the burritos. I started ordering burritos with extra-chile and they have been 50% accurate with that. There are many times where I did not get extra even after paying for it. I ordered a Smothered Burrito yesterday. The cheese was not melted and opening it, it was not smothered. Even worse, there was no green chile inside the burrito. So basically, the green they would normally put in the burrito was just poured on top. Look at the pics...does that look smothered to you? This "smothered' burrito was $3 extra.

4.5 stars Blake's is a classic and convenient location to the Santa Ana Star Casino. The older woman at the drive thru was super sweet and friendly. I just got the Itsa burger with bacon, cheese, and green chile. She had asked me if I had wanted to try their new pumpkin shake. (I've had it before, but it's on my list for next time). Wait time was about 10-15 minutes for the burger and they had nice outdoor seating. 2022 #36

The wait times are pretty ridiculous for a fast food restaurant. We ordered two simple menu items and waited 20+ minutes. Looked like everyone else had the same amount of wait for their items as well as there were many irritated faces. However! What's with the 4 stars? After tasting the food, I was pretty amazed at the quality and quantity of what you get for what is paid for. I was really expecting fast food quality, but got almost regular sit down restaurant quality. I would highly recommend checking this place out!

Upon arrival you're greeted by the host who confirms your room and then seats you at a table. Unsure if you can dine here if you're not staying. I don't see why not though cause you can room charge or pay with card. After looking at the menu I decided to get the pina coco french toast and a side of chicken sausage and a fried egg. I also ordered the prickly pear limeade. I immediately sent the limeade back because it was an acquired taste, and I did not like it. The brown sugar roasted pineapple in the description of the French toast is what caught my attention. But there was nothing noteworthy of the French toast. The dish could've been elevated if they would've used brioche instead of regular sliced bread and fresh pineapples instead of jarred pineapples. It didn't even really taste like it was roasted in brown sugar. It appeared like they doused it with cinnamon and that's it. The egg and chicken sausage were basic. We did also order fried flatbread that came with lavender butter cream cheese and maple syrup, and that was for sure the star of the show. Solid experience and good option if there is nothing else around I guess

FOOD: They gave us a lemongrass mocktail for our anniversary, and it was super refreshing with nice citrus aromatics. Light but has some complex notes plus the citrus rind hits you and invites you to try the drink before you actually drink! Originally offered champagne but we opted for a non-alcoholic option. The bread with house honey butter was good, but nothing special other than the fact that they source their honey from their own bees. The beet "carpaccio" tasted good but was really more of an arugula salad--I wanted more actual beet and grapefruit. The beet is thinly sliced, but because of the sheer volume of the arugula, it feels like the beet takes a backseat. It's a good salad but different than my expectations, not really a carpaccio. Wish there chunks of beet along with thinly sliced beet and more grapefruit Duck taco was pretty good! Duck is juicy and still has some fatty portions but paired will with crisp of taco and the acidity + crisp of the pickled onion. The creamy sauces helped but I wish there was slightly more kick. The bison tenderloin had great flavor (the sweetness and acidity of blueberry worked very well with the butter) but the small portion size really overshadowed the taste. Corn grit and mushrooms were a fine compliment, but not very cohesive. The Cerdo Frito was tasty, and the red chili sauce wasn't too spicy and actually reminded me more of southern Mexican food/sauce (oaxaca). The fried pork was a good amount and if you ate it fast enough, still had some crunch of the fried batter AMBIANCE: Very on theme with the Tamaya/Pueblo culture. Not too stuffy of a "steakhouse" that you have to wear long pants or blazer. Definitely okay for elevated couple dates/dinners, business dinners, and even okay to bring younger families. It was very dark and dimly lit. With some windows that really help lighting. but once the sun sets, it gets pretty dark. SERVICE: Very friendly server (first day), fast pacing--maybe too fast. They cleared plates the moment one of us was done. The kitchen mixed up desserts twice, which was more funny than frustrating, but still a miss. PRICE: Pricey but expected for resort fine dining.

But it didn't taste like expected to... there was no actual sauce to the dish. Desserts were solid and well presented. Overall I would certainly return.

Beautiful, classic New Mexican architecture surrounded by desert and mountain views. The grounds are beautiful with options for biking (included), tennis/pickleball, walks, horseback riding, and golf. Located about 30 minutes north of Albuquerque and 45 minutes south of Santa Fe, made it easy to spend time in either. We were able to check in early, which was so nice after an early travel morning. Our room was large and included the classic hotel amenities, including waters. We were staying slightly during the off season, so two pools were open, which was fine as it wasn't that busy and it didn't get hot until about noon. Due to the location of the resort, it is easiest to eat at the property and there are a couple of options available: The Corn Maiden - nicer dining experience, Santa Ana Cafe - casual sit-down, Rio Grande Lounge - bar and bites, and Plaza - pool cafe. During our visit the Plaza pool restaurant was only open on Saturday. We tried in-room dining for breakfast one morning, as we were up early, the eggs had little to no flavor, and a couple of our items were forgotten/late. Not a huge deal as we understood they were training a lot of staff during the time of our stay. Overall, the food throughout all the dining options was just okay, and if there were more dining options close by, I would probably go there. The restaurants all tasted the same and there didn't seem to be much variety. It would be nice if at least one of the dining options was a different kind of cuisine to bring some variety. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the staff was so friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities to do at the resort and we loved that they had nightly s'mores. The property itself is beautiful and expansive, sits on Tamayame land, and at the outset of the conference a member of the Native American tribe welcomed us and shared about the land and setting. The property has with multiple event spaces, an on-site trail, a large gym, and several pools. It is a fairly large resort (our room was at one end, so it was about a 7-10 minute walk to the main lobby area). Each day began with a large breakfast buffet, and lunch was similarly well done. One of the highlights was being able to sit outside during meals at large tables overlooking the grounds, mountains, trees, and fresh air made for a really peaceful setting. For breakfast, I enjoyed the red/green chilies chilaquiles (New Mexican style breakfast), it was very flavorful and I enjoyed trying but was very spicy/heavy. From a conference and events perspective, the resort is very impressive. There is a large main conference room with a stage, and the room can accommodate over 100 people (at round tables), along with many smaller breakout rooms. Over two evenings, we attended events at different venues on the property, one about a 10-minute walk away (with hotel mini-bus transportation available), and another closer to the main area under a tent. The more distant venue was quite large and set apart, likely used for weddings and larger celebrations. That evening included a buffet dinner, DJ, dancing, and multiple bar setups. The second evening closer to the main hotel was a seated dinner under a tent, with music and performances in a more contained setting. There is also a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby, as well as another more casual restaurant by the pool. Given time constraints, I was not able to fully take advantage of all the amenities (including the spa, horseback riding, and longer trail walks), but I would absolutely recommend this property. It is incredibly scenic, serene, and feels immersed in nature, and I would gladly return.
