Blairally us one of the hippest theme bars that no one knows about in Eugene. The best selection of vintage games in the area, including a free skee-ball game from the early 1900s. Great Theme nights with talented underground DJs building that nights soundtrack. Most weekends there is a $5 cover charge, but it is well worth it even if you just plan on grabbing a drink or 5. I went crosseyed over all the pinball machines! Yes PINBALL!!! Ok, I was also smack in the midst of a pub crawl, but still.... this bar was wall to wall full of pinball machines! It was so great!! Pumpin' out the amazing disco jams plus all the pinball machines and old skool video games you could ever dream of (not to mention ski ball) I felt like I was tossed back into the mid-70's and 80's... totally bitchen!!! Might be fun in the day time or on a week night but Saturday night was packed and a mess. Some people were definitely sketchy, didn't feel safe and a girl told me she had been roophied here recently. A creepy man followed us to our car after trying to talk to us outside the bar. Definitely have a sober person in your group. read more

I'm a child of the 80's and I just returned to my childhood walking into this place!!! Ms. Pac-Man, Centipede, TRON, Donkey Kong??? OMG! And only for 25 cents?? Heaven. Though I did end up getting just as angry placing the games like I used to when I was a kid. Dropped-in after dinner down the street on a Thursday night. It was quiet inside with maybe 5 other patrons. They had a decent selection of vintage video, pinball and ski-ball in a very industrial setting. This is a Barcade and as a plus they do serve some local brews (like Ninkasi which is located next door) . Got to hang out with some of my old "golden age" friends, battle aliens and Defend the planet from Invaders from Space. In a world of ubiquitous home consoles, it was great to play some vintage upright cabinet games. This is a big space and I would like to see more vintage games filling the place. Blairally Vintage Arcade - Bars Near Me - Eugene, Oregon

So, all of a sudden there are 3 arcade/barcades opening up in Eugene. The Location (I think their name is changing to Blairalley) is Eugene's original revival arcade, however. Although the Blairalley facebook page says they are only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday they are actually open Monday-Thursday 6pm to midnight and Friday-Saturday 6pm to 2am. They have recently renovated the space turning 3 smaller rooms into one large warehouse space. I go about once a week for the pins, but they also have a large selection of classic and rarely seen arcade games including Donkey Kong, Baby Pacman, Pole Position, and Street Fighter. Baby Pacman is super weird btw, it's Pacman on top but pinball on the bottom! It's harder than regular Pacman too, in my opinion. There are around 20 pinball machines, my favorites being: Bride of Pinbot, Fishtales, Pinball Magic, and Big Guns. A lot of the machines are only a quarter a play. So go spend $5 and play the games of your youth ( and before) for a few hours. Right now Blairalley is all ages but they have applied for their liquor license which should come through in March. It'll be interesting to see how LevelUp Arcade compares when it opens in April, but I'm sure the Blairalley will keep the #1 place for vintage and unusual games. read more

I've only recently started to go to Blairally. My husband is a massive Blazers fan and Blair hold a small contingent of fans who come to watch the game. The atmosphere it's "kitschy". New and old arcade games line the wall and the decor is a mix of Blazers and arcade and pop culture from the 70s and 80s. There is a standard "pub" menu. I haven't eaten anything there yet, but the food looks pretty good. Especially the wings. According to the owner, they don't feel fry anything, which is unique for a bar-food menu. The drinks are very reasonably priced. PBR (my husband's drink of choice) is probably priced best in town. I had a gin toddy the other nice that was amazing. Fresh honey, rosemary, and lemon made this warm drink a lovely "sipper". One of the things I liked most about the establishment is the owner. Bedecked in his straw cowboy hat, the man exudes pure joy in hosting his customers. During last Saturday's game, he took the time to speak to his patrons and make them feel welcome and appreciated. Game show on Sunday night is just about the best entertainment you can find. They have a new menu that has some great snacks and sandwiches. I come for the pinball. The machines are great and he has some really classic machines (Bride of Pinbot, Whirlwind, Xenon) and great DMD machines (NBA Fastbreak, Jack-Bot, Fish Tales). He's got a bunch of cool EM machines, but I'm not much of an EM guy. I understand servicing your own machines is a real task along with running a business; I just wish a few of the machines were just a little tightened up. A sticky flipper here and there, low power plungers/flippers, some old rubbers and dying lights. Doesn't stop my patronage though. I get it, you can't just fix a pinball machine in a few hours, it takes some time and lost time is lost money. Staff is just fine, they have always been very helpful and cool with me grabbing some change to grab some quarters. Beer selection is great. I don't need staff to wait on my every need or act like a ray of sunshine. They're people like you and me, they're easy going. It's a perfect Friday relaxer. I'm in sales and when I've had a hard week this place evens me out and no one cares if I TILT every now and again ha. read more

Just dropped in for a drink (or two) and to check out the arcade. This was definitely an experience to remember! First off, it is in the "Whit" and has the feel of most places in that area. While some people call it dirty, or a bad area of town, I would call it edgy, fun and industrial. I will go back for sure. Second, the games are a blast. As a kid that add grew up in the 70's/80's it was so fun to play some of the classics...Ms. PAC Man, Centipede, Donkey Kong. How fun was that? It brought back great memories of hanging out at the pizza parlor as a kid playing those games! Third and the most surprising was the drinks. In my world bars are judged by how they prepare a Margarita. What a pleasant surprise when the drink was prepared with fresh juice and not served in a weird shaped, colored glass. The drink it self was not the syrupy, overly sweet mess that a lot of bars pass off as "good"! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We didn't get food but will be back to do exactly that. read more

Great idea and fantastic ambiance. This is one of the coolest places I have been in Eugene... such a cool idea. The one bad thing is the bathrooms are disgustingly stinky, but this is not a huge issue... Just keep it in mind should you have a small bladder. Sunday gameshow night was great! I've been there while it was happening before, but until now never participated. Great way to make new friends by partnering with someone new. The bartender filled any lull in the entertainment with "the Drew show" magic tricks. If you go in ask for Drew and you'll get some hilarious magic tricks and great drinks. No real food, had to go across the street for food. The owner was constantly yelling at kids, including mine who was right next to me both times and not misbehaving. (There was a hippy kid running crazy through the barcade, but that is no reason to behave that way). My son was not happy to have a stranger walk up and take his ball away (bowling game) and then play his turn for him. This guy needs to re-asses whether he wants kids in here because his attitude says he would rather it is just adults. I know for a fact that college age kids come in here in the evening and abuse the machines like crazy, SO DON"T HARASS MY 10 YR OLD FOR DROPPING THE BALL 4 inches accidentally!!!! This is where the action in the Whit is! Blairally has so many great pinball machines and arcade games it's like a paradise of arcade games. They also have a full bar and serve some pretty awesome eats. What is really cool is there is something going on most nights. Their regular weekly scheduled events are pretty rad, like on Friday's they have both Free Play Friday and 80's night (Church of the '80's). Wednesdays there's a regular tournament (called Pinball Knights) and Sundays there's Game Show. But even if there isn't something going on when you go, a good time is sure to be had by all. They have a full bar with some fun house cocktails as well as a pretty good tap selection and an awesome selection of tall boys to choose from. They even offer a small but good selection of wine. Oh, and they have a pretty good selection of soda in the bottle too. The food is sort of a mix of standard bar type fare (hot wings anyone?) and some pretty awesome sandwiches (I recommend the grinder and the club/Dagwood) along with some comfort type food. If you haven't been to Blairally yet...you need to make it a priority to get in here already! read more

We brought family from out of town to check out the Whit and felt that Blairally was the best place to show them something that wasn't just food, drinks or the green stuff, haha. It was midday on a Sunday and it wasn't busy but that's the best time to go. You don't want to have to wait forever to play a game you want. They also had signs on a lot of the games that were free at the time for whatever reason, which is a really nice feature! They have a really good selection of pinball machines and classic arcade games (mario bros, street fighter, frogger, pacman, etc). They even had a sped-up version of Ms Pacman in case you want to see how good you really are. What I love about this place is that it has skee-ball! I wish they had more than the one, I love skee-ball and could have done just that one game. They also have 4 player Pac Man which is by far the best multiplayer bar game! If you go at night, you'll always have to wait for this one. You're always going to run into people that hog a game or don't save their game properly (i.e. they walk away completely and expect you to just know they aren't done with the game). Downside to Blairally is that it can be considered a bit sketchy. While the Whit is definitely making a comeback, there is still a high-ish population of questionable characters that gather in the area. read more

Stopped in for the Wednesday night pinball tournament and landed $1 PBR's. But wait, there's more...Blair ally is amazing. There are dozens of pinball machines from old school to new school in immaculate condition. There's Galaxy and the whole Donkey Kong franchise. This is no low ball tavern, this is a dedicated living museum of the greatest pinball and video games ever imagined. The bar is well stocked and tasty along with the bar menu. If you like arcades and that's why you're going out, this is obviously the best place in town. They do not let the fact that it's a bar get in the way. On top of that, I think this is the best arcade I've ever been to. Well cared-for machines, rotating titles, workers who give a damn about video games and total 80's vibe. Other barcades in town don't hold a candle. I couldn't think of a single complaint about this place. [update] -- I thought I'd share a little more than just about the arcade games! Blairally is also special in that they have lots of different fun things going on at different times. Like: A game-show night! I never have encountered this before. It's a lot of fun, everyone can play and try to win prizes, etc. I love it! They have live music nights sometimes with DJ's kinda like an "80's Night", sometimes with bands. They also have live stand-up comedy sometimes, which, even when the comedy is bad it still makes for a fun atmosphere when drinking and playing pinball & arcade games. If a bad comedian starts complaining that people are playing video games instead of paying attention to him and laughing, well then folks can just heckle him and then it gets actually funny. If you're around 35-55 this shizz is right in your wheelhouse! Vintage arcade games and pinball machines line the walls. There's stuff like Donkey Kong, Defender, Robotron, Centipede, Street Fighter, etc. I was excited to finally get the chance to play Tron! That was one of the games that was always dominated by gangs of older kids when I was a young lad. There's probably more pinball machines than arcades, and not many of them are classics. There is a Playboy one and one for the Dr. Who fans. I was hoping for some really old school pinball machines, and there is one or two, but not much. Blairally also has a bar with some good beer choices at reasonable prices. Lots of nostalgic fun to be had here! read more

Excellent customer service! I will definitely go back! Thanks to Chief and brother Adam for finding cash that had fallen out of my purse inside the arcade. I didn't realize I had lost the money until I got home later that night. I phoned and spoke with Chief who immediately sprang into action, did his own investigation and the money was found the next day. He is my hero and proves there are still good people out there that truly care. Blairalley is a friendly, family oriented place with something for everyone. However, I only had a couple drinks and was capable of driving. This business lost service due to its inadequate service. I was enjoying myself until I was told I couldn't get a drink. We had an Invitation to go to a birthday party there on Tuesday. It was all preapproved. The host had provided tablecloths, party favors, balloons and over $100.00 in quarters for the three five year olds and a teen and a preteen and a large Sponge Bob Square Pants cake. The adult friends and family of the host far out weighted the kid ratio and they bought food there too. At least they tried to. However, they didn't have much food to offer of since they only had a one burner stove and really didn't want to cook people the soup that they ordered off the menu on the wall. But we ordered everyone drinks both hard and soft. There were over thirty people there people came and went. The wait staff could not have been ruder to us, however. One family member asked for napkins and they got all bent out of shape to give out napkins. Than we were told that he'd like us to hurry the party up at about 7:00 we'd been there long enough (less than 1 1/2 hours total) . My family, four adults, had been there less than an hour) and the staff member thought having a birthday party even though he approved it, might be scaring off all the people that should be filling his bar stools and standing around the stools and spending $8.00 a shot! I said "We've been buying soft drinks and beer and been plugging the machines for like almost two hours, it wasn't like we weren't spending money! We didn't have the table even set up close to the bar. And it was Tuesday at 7:00 and the bar was half full and it didn't seem to be slowing down the drinkers to me! Over the phone the host was told kids could be there until 9:00 and from 9 to 12 it was all adults only and that it was a fun place for kids. It should have been. We said Okay... we'd eat the birthday cake and leave... if we could get some forks, we'd even buy them since from them, it was such a problem but that we didn't think to bring any since they served food. We served the cake ran out of plates for it, and had to ask for more napkins to serve it on. These were the cheapest napkins too. But a real big deal for them to let us have. Then while the hosts were cleaning up, the employee put wood boxes on top on the bowling ball game and another game that the kids were playing, so they'd have to stop in the middle of the game! I was watching the kids and said "Why are you suddenly stopping them in the middle of the games, they paid to play them?" I was told that 'the games suddenly became too old for kids to play on them'. In the middle of the game??...Really? Many people left without getting cake and they all were mad at how we'd been treated. I was told "This is not Chucky Cheese, I thought on the phone it was going to be more older kids, not a bunch of three year olds!" (there were no three year olds! But...Hey, if there had been they'd be with two parents, who'd have been returning customers if we'd been treated decently. This is a terrible place to take kids even if they say differently. The staff is rude and petty. They said having kids in there might discourage people from setting at the Bar Paying $8.00 a shot (he really likes you to pay that $8.00 a shot, but don't try to get a second napkin if you do from the guy behind the bar!) The people we knew that came there often said the bar, at this time of day, on a Tuesday, was never full of people buying $8.00 shots! And, they didn't think the business was effected by the party one bit. But, hey lost customers, US! and the people there will tell their friends, and so on.....You know, they didn't have to act like that. This was a family birthday party why would you want to ruin a five year olds family birthday party? Maybe it didn't help that one of the two rude guys working there was drinking behind the counter the whole time too. Or that they only had one guy working at a time because the other guy was out smoking in the alley the whole time, and they needed two people to the job 1 out of work person in Eugene would fight to do. When I said "Well if we could please just buy some forks, if that's how you feel, we'd eat the cake and get out." to which he said "Yeah, and next time bring your own Napkins too!" We cleaned up our mess and left. There won't be a "NEXT TIME", BUDDY! (Actually I don't think I said "buddy", it might have been something else more fitting the mod he got us all in.) read more
