I visited this restaurant once for my company thanks giving party. Food was ok. They offer a variety of dishes. Everything was pretty good. The party hall was good for dinners. Bar has variety of drinks. I haven't tasted them but my friend says they are good too. read more

I want to be Blackie's loudest cheerleader. I truly do! Their food is amazing. All flavors and presentations are on point. My FB messenger message to them went unanswered. Here was my message: I'm trying so hard to give your establishment an honest 5th shot. In your old space your kitchen seemed overwhelmed because of the slow times on servicing food. Now with the new space you're front end seems overwhelmed, although handling the inquiries like pros. We're here to celebrate my sons 17th birthday. You're food is amazing and it was his choice to come here. We're 15 minutes past the 45 minute wait we were told when arriving and we were just told it will be another 15 minutes. I so badly want to be your champion cheerleader! (On a side note: being on the receiving end of your new hostess' question: "do you have a reservation?" Was not a great place to be. She looked at me like I was crazy. Not so much as a Facebook posting that states your change in policy that you NOW TAKE RESERVATIONS! How was I to know the change in your policy when you never announced it?) It's true! I want so badly to proudly recommend Blackie's to anyone who will listen. However I will now tell them to proceed with caution. First, my message to you (four days ago) went unanswered. Second, once we were finally seated, our party of 5 was crammed into a table for 4. I get it. Get 'em in and move 'em out. This is truly how I felt. Now I get to insert how FABULOUS the food is! Everything was on point. The flavors, the presentation...everything. It was even ok that you were out of TWO of the dishes ordered by our table. They found suitable replacements. Here's where it went back to being mediocre. I told 3 employees that we were celebrating my sons 17th birthday and Blackie's was his restaurant of choice. They couldn't even be bothered to light a candle in the dessert. How underwhelming!!! I had been told that the meals my son and his friend ordered were going to be taken off of the bill since they couldn't fulfill the request. Instead, I was charged for their alternatives. I get it. We all need to make a buck. But it's not what I was told. They comped the 2 desserts instead. I was also charged a higher price for a "Manhattan" which I did not order and a lower price for the same cocktail I originally ordered. At this point I chose to remain silent and wait for a response to my feedback sent via messenger. Four days have passed since I gave Blackie's an avenue to respond to my negative experience. I even left a note on the receipt notating the 2 different prices for the same drink. Sorry, Blackie's. You've missed the mark on the customer service end. Your food over compensates for your inadequacies on the service end. So I'm left wondering...why do we support local businesses when they can't be bothered to respond to their customers concerns? Sorry Blackie's. You missed the mark in my book. RI is a culinary Mecca with countless choices. Although Blackie's will remain my family's choice because the food is THAT good, I'm the one paying the bill. I'm underwhelmed and unimpressed by the service in your new space. read more

Delicious food, creative menu, great staff for eat in. Take out took me 1 hour to get, after arriving at the time I was told to arrive. Watched 3 women gossip for hours and call 2 other previous orders to tell them the orders they picked up were incomplete. Honestly, the food is so good I gave it five stars anyway. read more

Headed to the new Blackies on a Saturday afternoon hoping we could get a seat because we heard how incredible It was in that you usually have to wait a couple hours. fortunately we didn't have to wait at all and was taken to our seats right away. We ordered the nachos and buffalo chicken dip for appetizers and was the usual pub fare and then went on to dinner and everyone had something quite different from steak to pizza to a cheeseburger everything was just rather OK except the pizza was lousy. We asked the waitress when we ordered, to have it well done and crispy and she said oh yes it's always crispy. It was not crispy at all but it was certainly well done black on the bottom but if you held it out by the crust it simply just hung their limp and lifeless. Not only was that disappointing but the size was disappointing as well as the price. I am unsure why people are standing in line for two hours except maybe that they like the fact that they have many keto options and gluten-free options. We however won't be returning read more

There's always a wait when you arrive but it's well worth the wait. The paleo menu is excellent. Great beers selection as well.

This place was introduced by good friends whose recommendations are highly treasured. Great atmosphere, happy work staff and plenty of room. Excellent beer menu and wine list...served by a witty and shapely bar maid. The menu was extensive and available in both paleo and regular fare. Food well prepared and simply scrumptious! Staff accommodating and helpful... a smile goes a long way - which makes it easier to show appreciation and tip kindly! Deep in the woods feel but not far from Bryant U. Campus... don't tell anybody it's good so I can have this place to myself! read more

Service was outstanding! We did not want for anything including water. Just stopped by for a quick bite on our way home. Had the Meze, a great appetizer big enough for two or more. Includes fresh vegetables, warm breads, hummus etc. read more

I initially came here about 2 years ago and absolutely HATED my experience. I believe I wrote a review on it and only gave it one star. This past Saturday some co-workers and I decided to give it an other chance and I am glad we did. I was in a party of 3. We sat down right away and within 30 seconds a waitress addressed us and took our drink order (opposite of my last experience). We also ordered our food when the drink came back and were served our meals within 10-15 minutes after placing our orders. In total, it took about 25 minutes TOPS to get our main course. (Again, completely different from my last experience in the dining area). I had the "Chicken Parm(ish)" dish made with a chicken cutlet, one other had the multi-cheese grilled cheese and the other had Pumpkin Risotto. All three dishes were of a very good-sized portion. My dish was at a correct temperature. The food was excellent and the wait staff seems to have changed for the better since the last time I was here (2yrs ago). I would go back. read more

Fantastic fusion food that will always leave you craving more, I suggest the breakfast burger that is not only unbelievable but when paired with a Bloody Mary one of the greatest hangover cures I have ever come across. FYI Beware of ordering food at the bar because you will wait... and wait... and wait read more

This place never disappoints. Food, service, atmosphere! Its my go to restaurant! They're so meticulous, they make sure all beers in cooler are facing front to customers. read more

We enjoyed the menu's variety of choices. Friendly staff. Good food. Will visit again read more

Biggest gluten free (and paleo) menu I've ever seen. Sweet tater grilled cheese was heaven on earth. I love fluff! GF chicken tenders had some kick, which I loved! Huge portions, btw. Definitely want to go back soon to taste some of their other (GF) food concoctions. Fun atmosphere. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was a good crowd. Plenty of parking. Friendly and attentive staff. No Titos vodka (gluten free); their only downfall. read more

I'll keep it short and sweet... Nice restaurant. Attentive waitress (not so attentive host). Reasonably priced. The food presentation was beautiful and equally delicious. I will return and recommend. read more

Blackie's - Pictured: Sunday Mornin' Gobbler with garlicky homies. Not pictured: coffee. - American Near Me - Smithfield, Rhode Island

When hubs and I got there on Labor Day it wasn't very busy.... initially. Next time I looked around the place was mobbed. There are some very beautiful aspects to admire at the new place like the bathrooms, the entrance and the pizza oven/ bar. The main bar is very very gray. Everywhere you turn it's gray... like too gray and I felt almost like I was in prison. One thing that no one took into account when designing the bar is that 2/3 TVs aren't viable from most parts of the bar because the pendant lighting is in the way. We are bar people and if we can't sit at the bar we leave.... we had no problem getting a seat at the bar but probably wouldn't return because we like watching football, baseball etc and you can't here. The food was good albeit expensive but the service was very prompt and attentive considering they just opened. read more

Love the staff, beer selection and buffalo chicken dip. Long waits for food and sometimes a strange smell are the only downers.

We normally love this place but their wings are awful. We got chewy, soggy wings and the blue cheese tasted like ken's right out of the jar. So gross. Expensive for what they are. read more

We love Blackies. So many great menu options I spend 20 minutes trying to decide which to eat which is a clear sign that I need to go here more often. Delicious food. read more

Always enjoy coming here! Love the menu changes so I'm never tired of the food and have yet to be disappointed. (Except when I find a favorite that doesn't come back! Hello fried pickles and gyro nachos!!) brunch is also delish but wish the morning drinks were bigger/prices a little better. Prices are fair for the fresh food. Just be prepared to wait both to be seated and for your food to be cooked, but definitely worth the wait. read more

One of my favorite restaurants! They are constantly changing up the menu, so you will never get bored. However, they always have their classic Junkyard Nachos - do not leave without giving them a try! They also have a great Sunday brunch menu. I definitely recommend. read more

There is a reason this place is always so busy... it's actually busy to the point where I can't even stop by here anymore without having to wait an hour or more. Guess that's not a bad thing for the owners and employees but for those of us that want to go here it just kind of stinks but just goes to show how amazing their doing! Kudos to the owner, manager and employees because their all rock stars! I went here a few weeks ago and it was right before the dinner rush on a week night and it was busy but not crazy busy- we sat at the bar so we got right in. Within an hour the place was completely packed to the point where you'd have to wait over a hour for dinner so luckily we got right in when we did. We ordered dinner and drinks. Everything was delicious. The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly and made some great recommendations regarding entrees & drinks. I tried coming here two times afterwards and was looking at an hour plus for wait times. I just couldn't wait that long. We'll be back during the week before that dinner rush- that's the sweet spot time to come if you don't like to wait! I was torn between 4-5 stars but it's just NOT fair for me to rate 4 stars just because I can't get in here (lol). I think they need to open another location & then we wouldn't have any zle read more

This was a disappointment to me.. They made a mistake on our order, wouldn't accommodate that we have a little extra sauce on their DRY Margarita Pizza.. and to boot, it was 14.00.. terrible service.. took 15 minutes for dessert to come.. totally snooty people there.. you are not all that.. so take your shitty attitude and knock yourself down a few levels and think of the customer.. since they are your bread and butter read more

A great discovery! I was looking for a place that was about half way between my friend and I and that was Smithfield. I looked up restaurants on yelp and found Blackie's! It was so good!! Raelynn was our server and she was terrific! The drink menu was creative and the drinks were good! We had the cheeseburger Rangoon! Probably one of the best appetizers I have ever had! We also had the yummy cauliflower appetizer which was like a lasagna and we had the pork nachos! Start to finish everything was great! Can't wait to go back! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! I have eaten here on several occasions and Blackie's NEVER disappoints. They offer a diverse menu for whatever you may be in the mood for including seasonal specials and local ingredients. The staff is well educated on the menu and are always willing to help with recommendations. Most of all the food is phenomenal! Chef Angie and her crew are incredibly creative and the food that comes out of the kitchen is always perfectly executed! I would highly recommend Blackie's to anyone, you will not be disappointed!! read more

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Smithfield. Maybe in the entire state. Everything I've ever had at Blackie's has been absolutely delicious. Chef Angie is amazing! read more

Food good service is the WORST I ever experienced. Made reservations the day before for 4:00 pm on Sunday, after movie. Looked over the menu.. waiter came over and took our drink order. He came back said "Let me deliver this glass of wine to another table and I'll be back to take your order" 45 minutes go by NOTHING!!! go look for him no where to be found!!! Go back to the table my boyfriend says to me LETS GO!!! TO many other places we've been here for 45 min and we only have a soda .. waiter comes boyfriend says we'll pay you for soda we are leaving. Doesn't even ask why Because he knew why!! Call the restaurant and tell them would happend because they were all too busy to even speak when we were leaving.. and the manager proceeds to go tit for tat with me on the phone.. says she will have owner JEANENE call me in morning to Rectify this situation.. No call.. How's that for service needless to say I will never ever go back. read more

Great food and wonderful waitress who was extremely professional/attentive. Also was disappointed that our table was given away to another party and had to sit in the high tops. Only disturbing thing was the fact that I saw multiple hostesses, and what appeared to be the manager, going in and out of the kitchen with sandals/open toed shoes on (OSHA violation). read more

What an awkward layout of a restaurant..... the patrons sitting in the center in the lime green booths have nothing to look at- you can't even see any of the restaurant and literally are staring at people walking by or they are staring at you as you walk by - I'm just not sure what the concept is here??? I will admit the food was good but very pricey- especially for a burger/ pizza place. I believe that if they opened something like that in Providence it would fail- the location is what keeps them going and again the food is good!!! I also noticed Caymus wine being served- WHAT??? Are people at a burger/pizza place ordering a glass of high end wine??? What is this place??? I liked the old location better and they should have stayed with a pub theme- they may have gotten to big for there britches..... time will tell!! read more

Blackie's is definitely on my mind , my husband and I first saw it advertised on the phantom gourmet , so we said let's take a ride ,, I'm a huge Reuben Lover And the Phantom was definitely giving it a thumb up For one of the best Reuben's Our experience was wonderful , we loved the atmosphere it was a September afternoon , outside seating was avail Until the Bee's started hanging out all over the outside tables ,? I'm allergic to those lil mood kill insects so we had to come inside the restaurant.. not sure how or why this was not a concern to the owners , anyway Lunch was great , totally did a overkill on that Reuben , they offered for a appetizer Reuben quesadillas which was delicious and for my lunch I got a Ruben traditional sandwich just a Yum to both !! Oh yeah don't forget the carrot cake sandwich for desserts .. I left a very happy full customer read more

Fun place! Lots of seating and great Sunday brunch music. Main complaint is it took awhile to have someone take our order, bring over water, and the main dishes -- it was pretty slow when we walked in, so the wait had us pretty hungry. The food was very good, a little on the salty side but good proportions. Will return read more

i got a huge plate of chips and it WAS AMAZING im gonna go back today i love the chips so much and the pork was good too.

Food was good having to download an app I could do without. My burger was decent I would come back again.

We had two burgers cheese and pickles only one with chips and the other with fries. Martini's $14.00 per drink . Total bill for two burgers no added except pickles and cheese and two Martini's yes grey goose was the vodka the bill came to $60.00. We pay less at fine dining. read more

If you're looking for some southern comfort food then this is the place to go to in the Rhode Island area. Parking can be limited depending on how busy it is so carpool is that's an option. The portions are shareable, but you can also save it for lunch. We ordered the Blackie BBQ which includes short ribs marinated for 14 hours, bbq pulled pork, and Mac & Cheese. I'm not a picky eater but I'm picky when it comes to my Mac and cheese and hands down this is one of my favorite. We also had the breakfast hamburger. For desert we had the carrot cake ice cream sandwich. Again, shareable and very filling. The cocktails are made to order, which I love because I hate ordering watered down drinks. I had the Saturnnnday Sunrise with a dash of the pomegranate and orange juice - It was strong & delicious. This restaurant is good for a date night night, girls night out, or just to eat! Everything here was delicious. We came here with 5 kids after watching a play near by. My kids loved their burgers and the nachos.

Sunday place is jamming. Bartenders are cranking out the drinks and food. Great atmosphere. Food is does not disappoint. Lots of unique dishes. Shout out to Shamus ( not sure if spelling is correct) but top notch. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Let's start with a 20 minute wait at 4:30pm on a Sunday when the place wasn't full. Then the menu is way over priced but that doesn't bother me if the meal is worth it. Waitress didn't feel our party of five was worth it because she cane around once in a while to refill drinks, oh and to bring our food. I paid $20 for a steak sandwich that was 6 inches long, had one piece of Delmonico steak and it was 1/3 fat and gristle, also didn't come with fries so I had to pay $3 extra. Now $17 for 9 chicken wings, $17 for steak and cheese that was mostly cheese and fries, not much steak. Stay away, food is average and over priced and they take their time servicing you. read more

Just found out they have a dedicated Paleo menu. Being new to it all, I found all the options tempting and settled on a power plate. Brisket, Asian slaw and avocado and tomato salad, all delicious and fresh. This is my first paleo menu item and I was pleasantly surprised. Have eaten the regular menu and as never disappointed. There's a reason they are always packed! Come on an off night to beat the crowd, you'll be glad you did! read more

Great food. Place is always PACKED so there's usually a wait. I think it's a little pricey for the area. I've been there 4 times had great experiences 3.. one time everything tasted like I was eating charcoal. Too heavy on the smoky flavoring? Everywhere has an off day.. chances are you'll enjoy your time. At this time it looks like they're getting ready to move locations to a bigger venue just up the street! read more

Unfortunately my experience here wasn't all that great. I have been wanting to come to Blackie's for months because of all the rave. My boyfriend lives right down the road so it's easy to get to, just never had the time. Tonight we finally decided to stop in and get some drinks and food. First off, our waitress was super nice so I cant complain about the staff. I think it was the pricing and portion sized that turned me off. I wanted to order a glass of wine, and they listed three prices. Usually anywhere I go it's about 5-6oz/11oz/Bottle. I asked for the $6 glass and the waitress informed me that before I decided to get it that I should "be aware" it's only 2 oz. An actual shot. I was very surprised, but just went ahead and ordered the $14, which was only 5 oz. A little pricey for a glass, but it's wine so again, I just blew it off. My boyfriend ordered a Blue Moon and it came in what seemed like a 20oz glass but it was a super skinny glass so I think it was probably about the standard 16 oz, just looks like it's more. She comes back with our drinks and takes our food order. I ordered the rueben (which wasn't that bad, nothing amazing but still good.) that came with a side of chips. I asked to substitute my chips for onion rings (I think was only a $3 up-charge) and the waitress informs me that if I wanted to do that I would still be getting my side of chips and only ONE onion ring. Yes, you read correctly, ONE. If I don't want the chips 1. why would I still receive them & 2. $3 for one onion ring. I asked her if I heard that correctly and she nodded basically in embarrassment. My boyfriend ordered the steak and cheese wrap, and when it came out it was about the size of his whole hand. My sandwich was a pretty decent size, but again, nothing special. After dinner we decided we were just ready to wrap up and pay for the tab. So our waitress brings it over, and it came to $59 before tip. $59 dollars for 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches. His wrap ended up being around $17 I think. For a WRAP. I'm sorry but that's just outrageous. It's unfortunate because the food really wasn't bad at all, and the drinks were obviously fine. The atmosphere is nice, and staff is nice, if it was just a tiny bit cheaper it probably would've been worth it. I've been in the restaurant industry for almost 9 years +love going out to eat at different places (cheap or pricey) so I have a little bit of background experience when it comes to these kinds of things. Hope someone has a better experience than we did :( read more
