We have been coming to Blackfish for years and it never fails to be outstanding. Last night was again, excellent. Burrata special and pork belly for appetizers were tasty and generous. Tuna, halibut short ribs and lamb pasta as entrees were inventive, delicious and well executed. Dessert was chocolate tart and tres leeches cake which were recommended. Our friends have been raving about blackfish. We went for dinner Friday night of Truro Treasures weekend. We started off with the scallop and pork belly apps- they were amazing. The dishes were so delicious and cooked to perfection.Then our dinner came, I ordered the yellowfin tuna special with grilled bok choy. It was horrible. The bok choy was not cooked, and the tuna was overcooked and tasteless. My wife ordered the duck appetizer. Another very bad dish. The duck was chewy, and the escorole was inedible. Total bummer. It was like someone who had never cooked took over after our first servings! We will try it again and hope it is not another dissappointment. read more

Really a 2.5. Bartender was super efficient and asked us if we wanted a drink while we waited for our table. Wait person was a bit arrogant and gave us the wrong information about the spices/flavors in one of the dishes. Good thing we knew it was wrong or we might have been very disappointed. Their signature dish for $39, the lobster gnocchi with morels and fava beans in a butter sauce had nice flavor. The morels were delicious, the fava beans were like chalk and the lobster was a bit over cooked and very chewy. The fish was nicely prepared. Wine was okay. Overall, it felt like a lot of money for not a special occasion experience. But, I guess that's the experience when on vacation at the Cape. read more

This was, by far, the best dining experience of this year's trip. All of the food was creative, well prepared, and presented. I've never had such outstanding mussels - very fresh and perfectly cooked to a deliciously tender state in a cream sauce with sausage...Yum! The service was excellent, thoughtful and timely. This restaurant has excellent food, great drinks, and wonderful service. The menu had something for everyone. I had the burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice beer list as well as wine list. Because it is one of the few restaurants that is open later in the season, it was busy but still a very comfortable atmosphere. Our server guided us through the menu as well as the specials. He was on top of everything we needed or wanted. It was a great meal and we look forward to going back. read more

The food is fabulous here. I had the frisee salad followed by the wild mushroom with tagliatelle while my husband had the golden beet borscht followed by the veal cheeks. All were excellent with the exception (minor) of the fried duck egg on the salad which was probably a few seconds overdone. Still, it was a delicious appetizer. The desserts were delicious too but my dark chocolate mousse was more like a ganache. Slightly too heavy for me after a substantial entree but delicious nevertheless. We will be dining here again ! My first trip to Blackfish was wonderful. Lovely ambience, very good food, pricey but worth it. I was adventurous and tried the porkbelly appetizer and it was phenomenal. For my entree, the panko crusted pan seared sole, was by no means bad but was rather boring. We were a sharing group so i tasted a few other dishes too. Though I agree that it's heavy for summertime, the rabbit ragu was extremely tasty, and the mussels appetizer was delicious as well. Great service (especially for a party of 7) and all round a nice fancy night out. read more

Easily the best meal we've had on the Cape- and we've tried several places between Hyannis, Chatham, and Yarmouth. Everything from the ambience to the dessert was excellent. The food is definitely made from the freshest ingredients and perfectly seasoned. We had the little neck clams and mussels- I think the mussels were better :) but both were great. Then we had the braised short ribs and lobster with gnocchi. Again another slam dunk! Most tender ribs and perfectly cooked gnocchi with serious chunks of lobster. Our server Lily was excellent- very knowledgable about the dishes and personable. Overall A++ would highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality meal. Reservations are a must!! Blackfish had a cozy, warm, and romantic atmosphere. The frisée salad with the duck egg on top was delicious. It was light and tasted like fresh greens, truffle oil, and fresh eggs. The lamb rigatoni was very flavorful - it was meaty and had a strong cumin flavor. The tuna bolognese had the freshest tasting pasta I had ever had, however, there was a strong cinnamon taste that was very unexpected. It was shocking at first, but was very enjoyable once you are used to it. Finally, the braised short rib was very juicy and tender. The meal was very enjoyable and our server, Mike, was passionate about the menu and about serving the customers. The experience was very enjoyable and I would recommend it for intimate dinners and small group dinners. read more

Found blackfish on yelp while on a trip with my girlfriends family to Provincetown. It was the best meal I have ever had and among theirs! We all couldn't stop talking about how delicious the food was for the rest of the trip. We will definitely be going back on future trips. People who were leaving the restaurant as well were extremely pleased with their dinners as well. You will have to make a reservation for dinner especially in peak season. Many people who were walk ins for dinner were turned away while we waited for dinner. The wait for a table was a bit lengthy but the food made us forget about it very quickly. You should also leave room for their dessert and their specialty in dessert was the chocolate tart with pretzel crust. read more

We had two great dinners at Blackfish. Everything we tried from the salads and fish to the duck dish were delicious. They use fresh and interesting ingredients combined with excellent flavors. Really the best restaurant in the area. Yes it is pricey but gosh it is good! Gourmet fare combined with great service makes it worth the cost. Make reservations well ahead of time and you will be glad you did! From the pork belly appetizer to the oxtail ragu out entire party were happy and stuffed when we left! Only reason I gave four stars is because the chef would not adjust an ingredient ( I am allergic to mushrooms and would have liked the risotto, but they wouldn't leave them out ). read more

We went to Blackfish on Friday of the week after Labor Day. The service and the food were excellent! This was without a doubt the best meal we had on the Cape. Every bite of my meal and the bites I was given of my family members's meals was delicious. I had the appetizer, Pork Belly on Polenta, which was so good it almost brought me to tears. It had all the sophistication of the New York City restaurant scene mixed with the taste and aroma remembered from my grandfather's midwest farm table. The scallops, both in the appetizer with Parmesan fondue and in the entree with corn, a special, were sweet and fresh--really exceptional. My daughter and I shared the fig and goat cheese dessert while my husband and son-law shared the chocolate and hazelnut on a pretzel crust; both were exquisite. read more

Both were great starters, torchon was cooked perfectly. We then ordered two pasta entrees, which was definitely too much for two people - order one to split. We look forward to our visit to Blackfish every year. Happened into Blackfish late one evening and split a dinner with my husband because it was so late. Loved it so much, went back with friends the following week. The first time we had a halibut special over risotto that was phenomenal. Next time we had the Tuna Bolognese that was superb. The bread and hummus dip is incredible, I think we had 3 servings! All four of us loved our meals, and our waiter was extremely attentive and super to deal with. Wish I had gotten his name, I would tell everyone to ask for him.
