They have a really unique machine with cute nick nacks for all. *Pictures will be uploaded later** They sell new and used records and store merchandise. Opium walking in you'll notice the menu only list the basic coffee and tea drinks. The baristas can make just about anything, or at least that's the implication. So for I've only tried a Chai tea and Matcha latte, all I can say is their oat milk is amazing, as that was the only thing I could taste in both drinks. Now onto the good stuff!!! The jalapeños croissant is amazing!! Just make sure to ask for it too be warmed. I believe in a 3 strike rule, so I will give them another chance. My first time coming here and was thoroughly impressed by their coffee. We are not huge coffee connoisseurs but for reference I think Starbucks' over burnt beans have to be covered up with immensely strong sweet syrups. My husband roasts his own beans and makes me a latte daily so usually I get kinda bummed when we do spend $10+ to get lattes and we are disappointed. We got the Whiskey Vanilla Latte, Burnt Caramel Latte and Cortado. The flavors of the lattes were incredible and the drinks were not overly sweet! We ordered to-go and I was really surprised that the drinks lids were different and they still did foam art on top so I was actually able to get a proper sip each time. The space was cute and I found the t-shirt art wildly charming which was a view of looking outside the front from inside. We found their parking directly behind their building with a small outdoor space. Highly recommend and excited to come back! read more

Needed a pick me up and decided to finally try Black Ring Coffee Roasters! I live literally 5 minutes away and I can't believe I haven't tried it til now. I ordered: Honey Oat Latte (iced) ($5): this seemed like one of their most popular drinks so I gave it a go! They use oat milk in this one which is all the rage nowadays. It gave the drink an added creaminess. I also enjoyed it because I'm lactose intolerant! The latte was just the right amount of sweet. 5/5 stars. I also tried the hot version which was delicious as well! The interior of the restaurant is very hip and aesthetic. We ordered a lot of drinks (maybe like 5?) when we came in, but the baristas were nice and efficient. Their menu options cover the classics and have a couple of creative drinks on there. Surprisingly delicious considering their most popular drink is a sweet one but that whiskey vanilla was pretty darn tasty. The golden snitch was also pretty unique in flavor but a tad too sweet for me, very chai-like. Drinks were about $5.5 w oat milk. Parking was really only street cause that weird shared lot was stuffed. We ended up a block away and strolled over -- lucked out cause it was a beautiful morning. Only one lady was working that Sunday morning so service was slow but we were living that leisure life anyway so it was no biggie. Updating from a five star review Been here four times, and prior to my last visit, always left satisfied with my drinks and pastry. I love their vanilla whiskey latte and I tried the honey oat latte this last time. Now my review isn't being updated and lowered solely based on the drinks alone. My last visit didn't yield the worst drinks ever, but definitely disappointing. First, drink was made with the wrong milk, not a biggie cause they offered to remake it. That's not where the problem lies. And look, maybe it was a bad day or they had a new barista on staff but these were some critical mistakes that were made. The first one was that the barista making the drinks, had terrible judgment in dosing to the basket so he overshot the amount, which is a waste of good quality beans but it'd be none of my business until he used his fingers to take out the grounds off the basket to get the right dose on the scale. His fingers!!! Never seen such a thing at a great cafe before. For sanitary reason reasons this was a violation that couldn't be ignored. Second offense came with the second drink, so assuming this ship follows the standard two shots for a latte, my honey oat latte was giving one shot by first barista, ice and milk were added until they realized that there was an extra shot laying around but since there was no space left in the cup just put a little on top and threw the rest out. As stated above, it wasn't a horrible cup of coffee but clearly it was lacking. I hope that this was just a bad day and not an indication of the practices of this establishment. Will this make me not want to go back, probably not but now I would probably head to a couple of other spots before coming here again in the area. May update review upon next visit. read more

I've been here a few times now to know that they're not ruining my cold brew. It's just subpar. I'm a cold brew person so that's what I always order at coffee shops. Maybe it's because they have the cold brew on nitro. I always get it with light ice and cream. My first two visits they went heavy on the cream so I thought that was overpowering the coffee. The last time I went I made sure to ask for just a pinch of cream. Even then, the coffee flavor just wasn't coming through. I've had nitro cold brew at other shops and it's not my favorite. So I think that may be the problem here. Other than that, I've always gotten good service and I love the feel of the shop. But, I think I'll stay away, at least until they start offering regular cold brew. read more

I would give this establishment 6 stars if I could. I would highly recommend it. We were there this last Friday while passing thru town. Staff was super friendly. Drinks were on par for sure. The barista went out of his way to make sure my kiddo's warm milk was ready for her to drink. Parking was street parking only I believe, however we were able to find a spot without an issue. We've been consistently coming to Black Ring for a while, and the drinks are always great. I usually go for a Honey Oat or Whiskey Vanilla latte, and the wife a Cortado. We also buy bags of their whole beans to keep in rotation at home; if you ask, they'll grind it to your specific use (espresso, French Press, etc.)! They have two outdoor tables in the back lot now, so it's nice to have a place to sit and enjoy their coffee. I had a nice conversation with the two baristas working this morning, having not seen them in a while. I much prefer spending my money at higher quality local spots like this, than at big chain coffee shops. read more

I suggested for my friends and I to meet at Black Ring Coffee because it was close to my mom's house in North Long Beach. First off, I love the exposed brick in this coffee shop and the decor. We arrived about 10am on a Sunday and it was pretty empty but as noon approached, it did start filling up. I ordered the Honey Oat Latte and my friends ordered the Lucky Charms/milk and a tea. While the latte was pretty tasty, the lack of latte art left me disappointed. They do have a small selection of pastries that are brought in from Porto's so if you were looking for some tasty treats but wanna bypass the wait at Porto's; go to Black Ring Coffee. My advice is to get there early to get your pick of pastries. Being that it's so close to my mom's home, I would definitely come back and give it another try. read more

This is the best coffee shop in Long Beach for me, which says a lot cause there are a lot of coffee shops in Long Beach. I can't resist their whiskey vanilla latte or their honey oat latte. Their nitro cold brew is the best around, and it's also way cheaper than other places! $4-$5.25 for a cup. They do roast their own beans, so maybe that contributes to the cheap cost. They hang up cool art on the walls and they switch up the artists from time to time. Follow their Instagram because they tell you when they have a cupping class or cool events! It's a decent place to study at because it's quiet and there's a good amount of bar seating. They don't have large work spaces though other than the three seats at the counter. Do not park in the plaza next to it because they have been known to tow. I normally don't have a problem finding street parking though since there's a lot of space in the nearby neighborhoods. read more

Black Ring coffee is fairly new. I went this morning before work. It seemed pretty clean to what I could see. Service was pretty fast since there was no one in there. Staff seems friendly but not really talkative. I ordered a black coffee and opted for the Conga since it's less citrusy according to the guy that worked there. Its still pretty citrusy. So whether you go for Ethiopian ( their other blend ) or Conga the coffee is still going to be in the citrusy blend. Price: The price for my coffee was $3. They fill it to the brim so careful. Coffee is good - no complaints at all about the coffee. However, I went today (Saturday 3/12 around 11:15am) and the girl behind the counter was, to say the least, the most rude, bland customer service I have ever received. We came in to get a drip coffee and a Mexican mocha, and this was the first time we came. So obviously, I was perusing the menu, and she offered no help, no "here's what's popular" and when I gave her my order, it was almost like she was SO bored doing it. Whatever, I've had bad days before work too. The nail in the coffin for me was when I got excited to see the foam design she made, and exclaimed "how cute! I want to take a picture" and she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME. And just set the lid next to my cup. My partner even was upset with how she acted, as if I was a bother to her morning.
