I got a hot cortado and the signature iced whiskey vanilla latte, both with oat milk (Oatly I believe.) Both were excellent. The Cortado was smooth and milk had good texture. The vanilla tea latte really stood out. The hint of whiskey was delicious, and vanilla bean flavor was notable. It was very much on the edge of too sweet for me- but I also dislike sweetness lately- I'm a 10% sweet kind of guy at boba shops, so this means it'll probably not be sweet enough for most folks(which is always fixable if you prefer more- hard to remove the sugar though!). So highly recommend this iced drink. 100% will return- 5 stars. Also service was friendly and felt very warm/welcoming even though simple. Also- I love the little black sleeves on the Togo cups. Sometimes it's the little things that completes the experience. Black ring indeed! As others have mentioned- the pricing is excellent for this level of drink- ~20% lower than peers doing this style and quality of brew/signature barista drinks. read more

I first came here a few weeks ago, seeking the small apple pie that one of my Yelp buddies posted. Unfortunately, they didn't have it in stock that day. So I went with an apple streudel and a cold brew. The streudel was very stubborn, so I asked them to head it up, which made it a lot better. The coffee was smooth and packed a good amount of caffeine. The second time I came here, they were also out of the small apple pie. The staff informed me that their pastry selections vary each day, and that the small apple pie in question was more than likely originated from Portos. No problem, as I got their vegan churro donut instead. Not just for vegans (I'm a big-time carnivore), this donut is pretty good, and not overly done with the fat and sugar. It's all about the balance, people. The coffee this second time around was as good as the first. No complaints there, as I got the energy boost I needed to carry on with my day. This place is located off the 710 freeway, just south of the 91 intersection. Parking is found on the street, which is not hard to find on a weekday. If you find yourself in this part of town, I'd recommend giving this place a try. read more

I came here on a whim just wanting to find some good coffee around the Rancho Dominguez area. Low and behold this was the only coffee joint other than Starbucks in the area. I came on a Tuesday around 1pm and was able to find easy parking next door. Inside was a clean coffee joint with nice art and a friendly staff. Coffee was great as well. I really enjoyed my visit to this hip coffee shop. My friend and I were welcomed immediately and the barista kindly answered any questions we had about the drinks. I ordered a whiskey vanilla latte and absolutely loved it. I also liked browsing the cool merchandise they displayed. What stuck out to me the most was that the workers were extremely friendly and talkative. They didn't act like coffee snobs like I've previously experienced at some other coffee spots in LA/LB. My boyfriend is such a coffee connoisseur it's ridiculous how picky he is. I don't drink coffee so I know nothing about it. Black Ring Coffee is just the newest shop to hop on the Long Beach coffee scene. Albeit, they're hardly new to it, as they've been roasting since back in the days. Wouldn't know exactly how long it's been but I do remember seeing their cold brew at other Long Beach businesses and their coffee being used in one of Long Beach Creamery's creations, places that have been in business for quite some time. As I said, they're no stranger to the scene - the LB scene in general. For a while now, I've been anticipating their opening. Well actually, for them to acquire their own brick and mortar. So it was thrilling news once I found out they were in the midst of building their space and looking to open soon. As of now, they remain in a soft opening phase - you know, today's way of saying we're open but not really - and all indications point to a grand opening soon. The space is pretty standard; exposed brick, wall counters with stools for seating, shelves to display their coffee and other merchandise, and of course all the necessary coffee gadgetry to create that ever so pleasant latte art we all love or a simple coffee too if you're a grab-and-go type. Anyway, its a simple and clean look. It's location in North Long Beach is great, can only mean LB coffee is expanding its boundaries. The neighborhood looked to be up-and-coming, a locale that seemed very fitting for a coffee shop. This was something I told someone a few months before it was ever known they would be residing there. Lo and behold, coffee has now arrived, and I feel self-validation for calling it. I think its a great addition to the area, especially because it's conveniently located off the 710 - for that quick stop. I didn't get to interact much with the guy running the shop, but he provided good service. The cappuccino I ordered was perfectly made, so at least I can say he knows what he's doing behind the bar. Really awesome place to get outstandingly delicious coffee in North Long Beach. These guys have been around for sometime before their shop opened up, providing coffee blends to Long Beach Creamery. Now they have a roastery right in the shop! They serve and sell single origin coffees there and they're fantastic. During their grand opening they had a rare selection of natural processed Ethiopia beans and boy, oh boy, they were some of the best coffee I've ever had! Some unique treats? Try their Honey Oat Latte. It tastes basically like a whole milk one, but with high protein and low fat and just the right sweetness. Oh and this delight is delicious! They serve nitro cold brew--very well made and smooth. You'll be surprised if you like cold brew. And if you want a bowl of cereal here, why not? They got them too. Every once and again they partner up with Long Beach Creamery to serve affogatos and nitro floats. I've had a nitro float with Burnt Caramel ice cream and yes! What a great treat indeed. Calling to all North Long Beach residents! This is the ONLY specialty coffee shop in the area. Come here. Befriend the awesome baristas. Enjoy the fantastic coffee! I finally had time to myself to try this place just walking distance from my home. This is North Long Beach area and this is a treat to the neighborhood that this specialty coffee shop is opened so I am very greateful, as well as the private owned businesses on Long Beach Blvd. that are striving. Their hours are 7am-3pm which I hope in the future will open a little bit longer. This is was Friday afternoon now its still new they just opened a few days ago so I recommend going now. As I walked in I was greeted by smiles and a welcoming presence, the guy at the counter was very friendly and knowledgable about coffee, he offered choices from the menu, I usually get lavender lattes but decided to try what they had. I got the honey oat latte and a lemon bar, I was disappointed because I was too late to try any of their pastries all that was left was cookies and a few lemon bars which was still delicious. Next time I'm coming early! *They also do the star rewards which I believe Long Beach creamery and Any's Juice on Atlantic does as well, now take advantage of those they give you free options on items by spending a certain amount once you get a certain amount of stars. I had the latte to enjoy there I admire the latte art in the giant mugs also just to take in all the atmosphere on my first experience. The latte was delicious the right amount of foam and coffee for my tasting. The lemon bar was very lemony which it doesn't lack in lemon, the break is flakey and buttery every bite was very tasty. I love the simplicity of this place bar stools and bench table, on the other side theres a grey graphite table closer to the baristas making coffee, very minimal and aesthetically pleasing, clean and organized. Theres air-condition and the large window view of the busy streets of Long Beach Blvd. one thing I noticed was the artwork on their business cards and invitation post cards I would like to see that more in this place, coffee and art will be a nice touch as well. Ordered an iced Baby Yoda latte and banana bread to snack on while I sat inside and got some work done. They were both tasty and unique choices that accompanied the relaxed environment. There is plenty of seating available along the wall and a window which is fun if you like to people watch like me. I usually come here every so often and the whisky vanilla latte is my go to. Amazing drink as always. The spot inside is very chill and has great decorations. The only reason why I can't give 5 stars is because of the argument/back and forth between the barista (who I believe was named Chris) and a female customer of his or possibly even his friend. Idk what relationshiop they have with each other but they were arguing about something and at one point he was just cursing at her. It just felt very uncomfortable waiting for my drink as that unfolded and shows a lack of professionalism on the barista's end. He was cool with me, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to feel tense and uneasy as I'm hearing an argument of that sort unfold in the shop. I'm not saying I won't be back, but it just goes to show that professionalim and proper etiquette plays a huge role in making customers feel welcomed or not. read more

But, when a barrista offers silly dialogue about Harry Potter (I asked about the flavors in the Golden Snitch latte), exchanging which house we beling to, and the tears we shed as our favorite characters died in the books, I will make an exception. I went for the whiskey vanilla latte since it was mentioned several times here and it did not disappoint. I snagged a sea salt chocolate donut too, which are smaller and more dense than a typical donut (are the GF?) yet tasty and I would purchase again. The baristas here are really sweet, along with their delicious eggnog (seasonal) latte! The vibe is relaxing and you really feel welcomed here to hang out and/or do some work. Today was their first day of their soft opening. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by everyone there, it wasn't packed, so try to go now before word gets out. Lol. Everyone was helpful and trying to get to know us instead of asking how did we hear from them. I personally enjoy people trying to just have a conversation with you instead of trying to see what marketing technique worked to get you in there. It's great to see an alternative to Starbucks opening up near me and hopefully more stores like Black Ring Coffee will open up north of Del Amo Blvd instead of south where Bixby Knolls is. Was looking for a coffee place to try out. Went on a search through yelp and found this place, which is a few minutes from home. I saw the menu in a picture. What caught my eye was at the bottom of the menu was a quote " pull the lever kronk" that right there pulled me in completely. When I went in person, the quote had changed to something else. After looking at the menu I decided to go with the whisky vanilla latte (the other thing that pulled me in). That drink is delicious! Sweet but can still taste espresso.
