Came in for a good matcha and wasn't met with the usual welcoming tone. I understand people might have bad days or feel tired but I can sense peoples energy and the cashier/baristas energy was not it. Didnt say hello, didnt say goodbye or anything other than what I asked her. The matcha was also very dark green before it was poured in my drink, which means its not good quality even if it is ceremonial. I also asked for a cinnamon roll and wasnt given a fork to enjoy. This was the worst experience Ive had and ive been coming here a while and have always had a good experience and better drinks. Came back again and tried the ube latte it was pretty good! I liked it was a good balance of sweet and the coffee flavor. I think I'd order it again. My friend got the pandan latte and she also liked it. My favorite thing on the menu is the chicken and pork siopao I get them every time I come back. It was a bit more packed this time compared to last time but still enough seating. The staff were nice they even remade my friend's drink because she forgot to ask for decaf! There was also WiFi so it was nice to not use hotspot to finish work! The WiFi was also pretty good speed wasn't too slow! Many months ago, I got the opportunity to visit Teofilo Coffee Company located in Carson. Filipino coffee in the house. It was highly recommended to me by a fellow Yelper. Thanks JW... you know who you are! I brought my Mom here with me on their Grand Opening Day. She's not a coffee drinker neither am I, but we both enjoy trying new drinks. Upon arrival, I missed the parking structure driveway entrance at first and had to turn around. When heading east, turn into the first entrance on your right shortly after seeing Teofilo. It was crowded with so many people supporting the grand opening. So cool! Staff was outrageously welcoming and super nice. Interior was hip and cozy. Seating inside and outside are both available. Restrooms in the back of the shop. As I was in line, I was watching other customer's drink orders. What I saw were alot of different drinks leaving the counter. I had to inquiry with the cordial and friendly gentleman who took my order. Most drinks come in hot or iced. Prices were very reasonable. I ended up with Hi-Si (no ice), Shaken Bibingka (iced), Mango Dream (hot) plus Cold Brew (iced). Hey, I didn't drive a far just for one drink. Gotta taste the Filipino coffee even if it's black with nothing in it, but pure goodness. Here my take on the sips... Hi-Si didn't turn out the way I thought it would because it had no ice and they served it hot for some reason. Shaken Bibingka was top-notch and deliciously smooth, sweet, and addicting... this one is a WINNER and my top pick 110%! Mango Dream was perfectly creamy with a hint of tartness at the end... another great drink! For not being a coffee drinker, Cold Brew was actually quite good. From what I was informed, it's their signature strong coffee sourced from the Philippines and roasted in house... it goes through 24-36 hours of steeping time. What's my verdict on the cold brew? Yes, I would get it again just as it is. What goes well with coffee is a pastry. They had various croissants all lined up for the picking. Got 3 croissants. My top choice and favorite was the nutella... it was the BEST with nutella chocolate goozing out of the croissant! YUM!! Almond was decent... nothing spectacular. Pistachio matcha was a pass... a bit dry for my taste. I couldn't resist, but to take home one of their simply designed t-shirts that spoke Teofilo Coffee all over it. Got the brown one! Hoping to get the green one next time. All in all, it was a very nice visit. Both my Mom and I enjoyed amazing drinks and had a great time. We didn't get a chance to meet the owner in person, but I did see him connecting with other guests. We did however meet a really nice lady who is a relative of the owner. Food Went here with the wife for an afternoon snack and pick me up. We ordered the Mount Milo and the Nido latte and a pistachio croissant for our snack. I've been here before and I have to say that the coffee here really hits and I loved the flavor of their coffee as it's not too bitter when I ordered just plain black coffee. Growing up in the philippines, I love Barako coffee and i love this place's mission to spread the knowledge and agriculture of filipino coffee. The beans are roasted in-house, its humble beginnings of roasting in the proprietor's (Ron Dizon) garage. Barako is the inspiration, Liberia cultivar. My parents would often reminisce that it is the best coffee they've ever tasted, drinking it black. Teofilo was the patriarchal namesake, Ron's maternal grandfather. His very strong work ethic was embedded into the fabric of this coffee shop. Proud Filipino culture in every cup. The space faces the Carson Civic Center with ample, free parking. This is one of the best coffee shops in the South Bay. The customer service is always kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. It's also a great spot to work or study the atmosphere is comfortable and easy to settle into for a few hours. They use coffee beans from the Philippines, and you can really taste the depth of flavor without it being overwhelmed by syrups or add-ins. One of their best drinks is the Shaken Bibingka. It's so addicting. I also tried their chicken siopao, and it was so good I honestly couldn't tell if it was store-bought or homemade, but either way it was savory & delicious. Visited Teofilo Coffee Company while spending some time in Carson and overall it was an okay experience. The café itself has a decent atmosphere, but it didn't really stand out to me compared to other coffee spots I've visited. I tried the Halo-Halo latte and the Bibingka latte. Both drinks were interesting and drinkable, but neither left a lasting impression. The flavors were unique and inspired by Filipino desserts, which I appreciated, but I found them more "good" than "great." I also ordered the Nutella Croissant, which was enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. One thing that stood out was the pricing. The drinks and pastries felt a bit expensive for what they were, especially coming from Orange County where I feel like similar cafés offer comparable quality at lower prices. Highly improved, my recent visit was positive! I was in the area to do some early errands and they opened at 7am. I ordered two iced drinks: 1. A matcha latte with almond milk and two stevias. 2. An ube matcha latte with oat milk. Both were good, specifically the ube matcha because it wasn't overly sweet. I also ordered two everything croissants and they were tasty. Yo this place is kinda dope. Came in on a Wednesday morning at 10am. The front door looks like I'm about to enter into another world. It's big golden doors and when you step inside you'll immediately be drawn into the brick back wall and the coffee station right in the middle. The coffee bar is the center of it all and there are seats that surround it. Mostly office type chairs and desk that are all Black and white and rolls. Mostly low tops and one high top table with 8ish chairs. I was interested in a few things and asked about two items and the barista told me hands down his favorite was the 50/50 and because he sounded so strong in his convictions I went with it. And he wasn't lying when he said it was delicious. It was creamy and taste more like a chocolate milk with caffeine rather than mocha like. If you like it sweet. This is the one for you. I also got a Pandesal with ube. The pandesal which is basically sweet bread was a dollar and then the ube or you can get it with coco is another dollar. My colleague got two drinks. They got a matcha latte and then a banana bread matcha. She originally only wanted the matcha but she said she loved banana bread and decided to get another. She preferred that one because it was spicier and tasted like home. I'm down the street for a conference and it's in walking distance from the Hilton and I told everyone at lunch to go and get something from this place. Why? Support Black and Brown businesses always. And also.. damn this place was good. No parking is the downside. There's two spaces in front of it for you to park for 20 minutes. More than a coffee shop, the Teofilo Coffee Company (found in 2017) mission is to 'Give Back To The Philippines'. It's original location in Los Alamitos closed, to expand to two locations this year: this one in Carson and another more recently opened location in the Naples neighborhood of Long Beach. It focuses on coffee grown in the Philippines, with it freshly roasted in the same building. My daughter hadn't been here before, so we stopped in for her to check it out. Parking is plentiful in the complementary nearby multi-level parking garage. It's a typical, tried-and-true coffee set-up with coffee ordered via the front register, and open tables separated where folks were meeting, getting work done, and enjoying their brews. The space is large enough to provide co-working spaces. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Ron, on a previous visit. We learned that the company is named after his Lolo, Teofilo, and that his company's vision statement is 'To be the top coffee provider of Filipino coffee in the United States while providing meaningful opportunities to Filipino coffee farmers'. It's an admirable goal. My daughter bought a couple of 227 grams (about 8 oz) bags of Liberica coffee beans ($29...so definitely on the higher end) along with an iced latte ($7) which she enjoyed. Stopped by last weekend to check out this cafe. There is retail parking inside the apartment structure. The door to this cafe wasn't intuitive, but it's a large door (the kind you'd see in fantasy movies or in Europe). The seating area is very spacious. I came in the late afternoon, so there weren't many people in the cafe. But it definitely had a nice vibe, definitely a place I'd hang out at if I had work to do. I ordered their iced ube latte and ube coffee cake which cost ~$15. It's good, but I think there's a lot of food coloring in the latte. It didn't stop me from finishing it though! The items are a bit pricey, but they do have a cool concept going on. I found out about them through social media. I absolutely adore this cafe. I am Filipina-American and grew up in a busy Filipino community in San Diego, so I am very attached to Filipino culture and used to having it all around me. With that being said, I love what this cafe has to offer the South Bay community! The drink menu is exciting, with Filipino desserts being offered on the weekends (turon cookie, ube cinnamon roll). For the month of June, they offer a seasonal halo halo latte which I looove, and I also like their matcha with added ube foam! Beyond the drinks, I was amazed by the Filipino library corner. finally went to this location after they closed down the Los Alamitos one. How I miss their pandan latte and it didn't change ! They have this hybrid setup where they are sharing space with an agency , and it's kinda cool to see working place and coffee shop together . The steamed bun took longer than we expected, but they are good. Parking was on the street. read more
