Great Filipino-owned coffee shop in Carson, Ca (it might as well be Filipino town ) beans mostly sourced out of the Philippine farmers highlighting one of its wonderful natural resources: COFFEE. Check out "Barako"-known to the people of Pampanga as a "strong, robust cup of kape", at least my mom & dad would say over & over as we were growing up. This shop is spacious, clean, modern , formerly occupied by another coffee shop, Greendoor. TCC features Filipino coffee culture, supporting the hardworking Filipino farmers. The beans are roasted in-house, its humble beginnings of roasting in the proprietor's (Ron Dizon) garage. Barako is the inspiration, Liberia cultivar. My parents would often reminisce that it is the best coffee they've ever tasted, drinking it black. Teofilo was the patriarchal namesake, Ron's maternal grandfather. His very strong work ethic was embedded into the fabric of this coffee shop. Proud Filipino culture in every cup. The space faces the Carson Civic Center with ample, free parking. One can easily spend some time at their comfortable indoor & outdoor seating. High ceiling, modern music playing in the background, it's an ideal place to hang out do some work or just chill and enjoy a cup of kape. It's a lovely coffee shop with plenty of seating and great Filipino pride. I had the banana turon latte, garnished with fried spring roll wrapper. It was a fun dessert latte, but lacked espresso flavor. I'm relieved that their whole milk is lactose free. However the hot and cold drinks are served in different sizes. Cold drinks are served in larger size, so it's an additional $1. The cashier was really kind and helped prepared drinks during the morning rush. I might stick with their hot coffee drinks if I decided to revisit. read more

This is one of the best coffee shops in the South Bay. The customer service is always kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. It's also a great spot to work or study the atmosphere is comfortable and easy to settle into for a few hours. They use coffee beans from the Philippines, and you can really taste the depth of flavor without it being overwhelmed by syrups or add-ins. One of their best drinks is the Shaken Bibingka. It's so addicting. I also tried their chicken siopao, and it was so good I honestly couldn't tell if it was store-bought or homemade, but either way it was savory & delicious. Highly improved, my recent visit was positive! I was in the area to do some early errands and they opened at 7am. I ordered two iced drinks: 1. A matcha latte with almond milk and two stevias. 2. An ube matcha latte with oat milk. Both were good, specifically the ube matcha because it wasn't overly sweet. I also ordered two everything croissants and they were tasty. They were stuffed with cream cheese, warmed up and so flakey. The cost was $32.66 including tax and tip. They also sell ready to eat food like burritos. My very first coffee was not the best but I'm happy I returned and now I go every single day. Teofilo is probably one of the BEST coffee companies I have ever, EVER tried. Needed a place to do some work & found this cute little spot during my search. What a gem of a coffee shop! Ambiance is very chill -- lots of outlets and the chairs were actually pretty comfy. There is also ample seating, with some 4 person tables too if you're coming with a group. I love how they have snack options here in case you get hungry while working. I got the turon latte, pork siopao, & ube pan de sal. The turon latte was strong, but tasty if you like bananas! Sio pao was okay, but it hit the spot for something savory. The coffee is okay, the ambience is good I like their chairs. However, what is wrong with their prices? They have a bunch of weird fees that add up to the coffee price, which is already not cheap. You pay extra for any iced drink, and you pay extra for whole milk, which is lactose-free? I didn't ask for lactose-free and whole milk means WHOLE milk WITH lactose... but when I asked the girl up front she looked very inpatient. Mind u, when I say they charge extra, it's not like cents, it's like a dollar or more! Honestly, it's not worth it for the price. Check the other reviews and they say the same. I literally paid 10 dollars for an iced banana latte?! Just be honest with your menu prices and don't try to get away by adding all those fees.... :( read more

I loved my ube latte! I visited today (Saturday) around noon and parked easily in the structure. I haven't visited Teofilo since they moved from their old location, but I was happy to visit today! The space is huge! There's lots of seating inside, and it seemed like a popular place for people to work. Baristas are super sweet and nice! I ordered an ube latte, but almost got the wrong drink because they called my name for a different order (I would've taken it anyway because they're so nice). Luckily, another barista caught it, and I got to enjoy a really delicious latte. I'm excited for my next visit! read more

You got the slow rnb going on in the background. You got the hum of people working and meeting here. You got the sweet scent of Filipino coffee, cinnamon rolls, muffins and more going on. Yo this place is kinda dope. Came in on a Wednesday morning at 10am. The front door looks like I'm about to enter into another world. It's big golden doors and when you step inside you'll immediately be drawn into the brick back wall and the coffee station right in the middle. The coffee bar is the center of it all and there are seats that surround it. Mostly office type chairs and desk that are all Black and white and rolls. Mostly low tops and one high top table with 8ish chairs. I was interested in a few things and asked about two items and the barista told me hands down his favorite was the 50/50 and because he sounded so strong in his convictions I went with it. And he wasn't lying when he said it was delicious. It was creamy and taste more like a chocolate milk with caffeine rather than mocha like. If you like it sweet. This is the one for you. I also got a Pandesal with ube. The pandesal which is basically sweet bread was a dollar and then the ube or you can get it with coco is another dollar. My colleague got two drinks. They got a matcha latte and then a banana bread matcha. She originally only wanted the matcha but she said she loved banana bread and decided to get another. She preferred that one because it was spicier and tasted like home. I'm down the street for a conference and it's in walking distance from the Hilton and I told everyone at lunch to go and get something from this place. Why? Support Black and Brown businesses always. And also.. damn this place was good. No parking is the downside. There's two spaces in front of it for you to park for 20 minutes. You could park across the street in the Ralph's parking lot but at your own risk. read more

Ordered their Turon (banana flavor) iced latte ($7.50) & i love it. Not too sweet you can taste the coffee and and banana flavor a good balance. Im seeing this flavor option for the first time. I came with the intent to get the Ube iced latte since i had a sample of it at the yelp social sideline event and fell in love with it. Ambiance is very cozy and spacious to do work or just hang out. Its located on the corner next to ihop there is no parking on the street. The free parking lot is located behind the shop, and it will be on your right as you enter the alley. 6 stars if I could! Absolutely love that there is a Filipino coffee shop in such a predominantly Filipino community. Lots of Filipino-inspired flavors on the drink and food menu. I am definitely bringing my Filipino loved ones here--need to try that cinnamon roll! Lots of seating inside and outside, with steady WiFi and chairs with wheels! Having never had Filipino coffee before, a friend brought me to this nice coffee shop in Carson to try their coffees made with Barako coffee beans sourced directly from a region in the Philippines. The shop is itself was very spacious with a nice modern and quiet ambiance. Its a great place to stop by to study while enjoying some coffee and pastries. I ordered the Pandan Latte which had a nice smooth coffee flavor from the Barako beans without being super strong, complemented well by the Pandan. I didn't get a chance to try any of their pastries that time, but it gives me a reason to come back and try their coffees once again. read more

Their banana latte was so good! It was the perfect sweetness & the banana syrup didn't taste artificial or fake. I got salted caramel foam on top which paired nicely with the drink. It definitely is salty though! This is a seasonal summer drink, but I wish they had it year-round! Parking is in a structure & is free! read more

This place has the best Ube latte. It's a perfect balance of coffee and ube. They use ube condensed milk as one of their ingredients but it's not overly sweet. I came across their shop as a pop up during an Ube festival in Cerritos and I put all my friends and Titas on. The latte was so good that I even came back the next day to order their latte again while they were still in Cerritos. I don't typically go to the Carson area but I definitely will be making the drive to visit their coffee shop soon! read more

More than a coffee shop, the Teofilo Coffee Company (found in 2017) mission is to 'Give Back To The Philippines'. It's original location in Los Alamitos closed, to expand to two locations this year: this one in Carson and another more recently opened location in the Naples neighborhood of Long Beach. It focuses on coffee grown in the Philippines, with it freshly roasted in the same building. My daughter hadn't been here before, so we stopped in for her to check it out. Parking is plentiful in the complementary nearby multi-level parking garage. It's a typical, tried-and-true coffee set-up with coffee ordered via the front register, and open tables separated where folks were meeting, getting work done, and enjoying their brews. The space is large enough to provide co-working spaces. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Ron, on a previous visit. We learned that the company is named after his Lolo, Teofilo, and that his company's vision statement is 'To be the top coffee provider of Filipino coffee in the United States while providing meaningful opportunities to Filipino coffee farmers'. It's an admirable goal. My daughter bought a couple of 227 grams (about 8 oz) bags of Liberica coffee beans ($29...so definitely on the higher end) along with an iced latte ($7) which she enjoyed. They also provide assorted croissants from Nonna mercato ($5 - $7) and baked goods from Cafe Dochi (virtual Filipino bakery). read more

this place is pretty spacious and nice. They actually serve pretty strong coffee here and my parents like coffee. It's different than the chain brands like Starbucks and coffee bean. I brought my parents here to try it and give them a taste of something different. I liked the Ube latte and requested the server to take out the coffee part and it still tasted delicious. I say, if you like strong black coffee or Filipino inspired flavor lattes and other coffee drinks, come give this place a try. They are definitely worth it. Stopped by last weekend to check out this cafe. There is retail parking inside the apartment structure. The door to this cafe wasn't intuitive, but it's a large door (the kind you'd see in fantasy movies or in Europe). The seating area is very spacious. I came in the late afternoon, so there weren't many people in the cafe. But it definitely had a nice vibe, definitely a place I'd hang out at if I had work to do. I ordered their iced ube latte and ube coffee cake which cost ~$15. It's good, but I think there's a lot of food coloring in the latte. It didn't stop me from finishing it though! The items are a bit pricey, but they do have a cool concept going on. I found out about them through social media. I think this is a solid place to buy Filipino-inspired coffee and desserts! read more

I absolutely adore this cafe. I am Filipina-American and grew up in a busy Filipino community in San Diego, so I am very attached to Filipino culture and used to having it all around me. With that being said, I love what this cafe has to offer the South Bay community! The drink menu is exciting, with Filipino desserts being offered on the weekends (turon cookie, ube cinnamon roll). For the month of June, they offer a seasonal halo halo latte which I looove, and I also like their matcha with added ube foam! Beyond the drinks, I was amazed by the Filipino library corner. It's one thing to celebrate Filipino culture through your menu, and it's another to celebrate its language, writers, and stories by offering customers the chance to browse and read through a thoughtfully tailored book selection. This is such an incredible initiative that I've never seen before and was truly touched by. They have this hybrid setup where they are sharing space with an agency , and it's kinda cool to see working place and coffee shop together . Meeting the owners and hearing them share their stories of humble beginnings. I believe this is the only / few Filipino owned coffee / cafe shop , with coffee beans sourced directly from coffee farms in Philippines . This location is really nice , is in the vicinity of government buildings and sit in-front of a bus stop . Has parking lot access shared with other businesses in the neighborhood. I am sad that this coffee shop took over Intelligentsia BUT what a great new coffee shop. I have been to the other location they had in Los Al but heard they closed it and opened up this one, so I had to check it out. The coffee shop is from the Philippines and the drinks and pastries on the menu pay homage to the Filipino culture. Even their merchandise uses the burlap coffee bags they receive their coffee beans from in the PI. Pretty cool concept. On this visit, I tried the Bibingka Latte and I enjoyed it. It had the same flavor as the coconut rice cake I love. The drink itself isn't too sweet either which is a plus for me. Inside the coffee shop, there is so much seating area that you can enjoy with friends and family. They also will have work areas for those who work remote. They hadn't opened them when we went since it was the soft opening. Overall, cool coffee shop and very roomy. Parking is located in the front and in the area. In Carson, it's very rare to find anything mom and pop owned anymore. I heard about this business from a friend. I never had Filipino coffee before. After given a free strawberry lemonade at an event hosted by them, I had to try this place out. Teofilo is a hidden gem in Carson. It's spacious, great for meeting up with people or study groups without too much noise interfering or feeling cramped. The coffee is pretty strong, even for the lattes. I like how they really embrace Filipino culture in their design and they have even made this into a community space with a mini library or Filipino books and art! Service is very friendly! Underrated, new coffee shop in the area that's a must try. They serve Filipino inspired drinks and pastries, and it is delicious. We tried the Babingka Latte and Killamatcha. Here's our take: - Hot Babingka Latte with whole milk, half sweet: I am not big on sweetness so the half sweet was PERFECT for me. There's a hint of caramel and coconut in the drink with a good touch of espresso, steamed perfectly. If you'd like it sweeter, get it at the regular sweetness. The coffee has the perfect amount of caffeine (but not as strong as Vietnamese coffee or cold brew- which you don't want lol) - Iced Killa Matcha with Mango Foam: made with real matcha and calamansi fruit. Such a refreshing caffeinated drink! The mango foam adds a nice touch on top, sweetening it perfectly. I'd definitely get this during a nice warm day! If you love matcha and calamansi, this is your drink. It's not excessively sweet either! If you like sweet, I'd ask them for what they recommend to make it sweeter.. - Barinko Ice Cream: coffee ice cream that tastes like coffee lol nothing crazy here, it's delicious though! I think it would be good to add in a cup of black coffee! There's parking behind the building at no charge. The coffee shop has plenty of seating for studying and hanging out. The ambiance is very chill and relaxing; a really good place to focus on work or studying or catching up with friends. I'd say this is a more upscale coffee shop than your typical Asian coffee shop. Think starbucks reserve stores :P The employees here are very nice and chill. Service is quick for the coffees. They are new so I think they're still getting a hang of things.
