In Carson, it's very rare to find anything mom and pop owned anymore. I heard about this business from a friend. I never had Filipino coffee before. After given a free strawberry lemonade at an event hosted by them, I had to try this place out. Teofilo is a hidden gem in Carson. It's spacious, great for meeting up with people or study groups without too much noise interfering or feeling cramped. The coffee is pretty strong, even for the lattes. I like how they really embrace Filipino culture in their design and they have even made this into a community space with a mini library or Filipino books and art! Service is very friendly! Underrated, new coffee shop in the area that's a must try. They serve Filipino inspired drinks and pastries, and it is delicious. We tried the Babingka Latte and Killamatcha. Here's our take: - Hot Babingka Latte with whole milk, half sweet: I am not big on sweetness so the half sweet was PERFECT for me. There's a hint of caramel and coconut in the drink with a good touch of espresso, steamed perfectly. If you'd like it sweeter, get it at the regular sweetness. The coffee has the perfect amount of caffeine (but not as strong as Vietnamese coffee or cold brew- which you don't want lol) - Iced Killa Matcha with Mango Foam: made with real matcha and calamansi fruit. Such a refreshing caffeinated drink! The mango foam adds a nice touch on top, sweetening it perfectly. I'd definitely get this during a nice warm day! If you love matcha and calamansi, this is your drink. It's not excessively sweet either! If you like sweet, I'd ask them for what they recommend to make it sweeter.. - Barinko Ice Cream: coffee ice cream that tastes like coffee lol nothing crazy here, it's delicious though! I think it would be good to add in a cup of black coffee! There's parking behind the building at no charge. The coffee shop has plenty of seating for studying and hanging out. The ambiance is very chill and relaxing; a really good place to focus on work or studying or catching up with friends. I'd say this is a more upscale coffee shop than your typical Asian coffee shop. The coffee is okay, the ambience is good I like their chairs. However, what is wrong with their prices? They have a bunch of weird fees that add up to the coffee price, which is already not cheap. You pay extra for any iced drink, and you pay extra for whole milk, which is lactose-free? I didn't ask for lactose-free and whole milk means WHOLE milk WITH lactose... but when I asked the girl up front she looked very inpatient. Mind u, when I say they charge extra, it's not like cents, it's like a dollar or more! Honestly, it's not worth it for the price. Check the other reviews and they say the same. I literally paid 10 dollars for an iced banana latte?! Just be honest with your menu prices and don't try to get away by adding all those fees.... :( read more

I've been coming here every day since returning to carson to try every drink on the menu lol. My favorite so far is the shaken bibinka! Caramel, coconut, and brown sugar. The hot ube latte and the pandan with mint cold foam weren't my favorites but maybe I'll give them another try. Nonetheless, I think this place is incredible and a community-centric coffee shop carson has been sorely needed. It's incredibly special to have one of the few Filipino coffee shops in LA be here. The story and mission behind this place is very special and meaningful, and I'll be coming back to buy some beans to support the motherland and our people! I also see this place as a third space and multipurpose venue; somewhere to work or socialize and build connections. There's baked goods that come in from different businesses and cooks (so not all food items may be available on the menu); books; merch; cool car magazines; and really great music. Pan de Sal with coco jam; chicken siopao; and matcha pistachio white chocolate croissant were 10/10. Bibinka was dry when I got it though. The service can honestly be hit or miss. I primarily see a lot of younger folks working. Sometimes I'll walk in and no one is at the register because it seems like they go to the back to make their coffee so I'm not sure if there's an indicator to know if a customer arrives, and as a result I'm standing there wondering if they know a line is forming lol. Stopped by this spot on the way back to San Diego and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was Filipino owned! I always love seeing representation. The coffee itself was excellent. I had the Pandan latte and I really liked that I can taste both the espresso and the pandan notes, which means it wasn't too sweet - the ultimate asian compliment. The café that used to be called Green Door has now changed its name to Teofilo Coffee. The place is still spacious with plenty of seating and a great parking lot one of the main reasons I've always loved coming here. Since the name change, it seems to have shifted to a Filipino-style coffee concept. The interior has been slightly remodeled, but I personally preferred the previous design it felt more elegant and refined. I studied here for quite a while today, and the chairs were comfortable, which I really appreciated. The staff were also very friendly. However, I tried a Filipino-style coconut-flavored latte, and I think that was a bit of a miss for me it was overly sweet and lacked the sophisticated taste I was hoping for. Of course, I haven't tried all their drinks yet, so I want to be fair about that. Overall, it's still a nice spot, but there are a few small things that feel a bit disappointing compared to before. read more

Super excited to be the first review on this amazing company! I love their morals and ethics. They source their coffee beans from the Philippines! On their coffee bags they say the origin of the beans, so cool! The parking is easy to locate (there's a parking garage). Replaced green door coffee. Nice spacious space. Unique Filipino flavor offerings. Parking is in a lot behind the businesses. Pandan is my favorite flavor so I got an iced pandan latte with the pandan foam. Unfortunately the flavor was barely there at all so I probably would not order again. The coffee itself was good though. I also tried the Milo/drip coffee drink. This was better than my drink however I tasted more of a chocolate sauce than Milo itself. Again the coffee was good. Tried the ube latte with pandan foam, drip coffee, and chicken siopao bun. I enjoyed the ube latte very much, it's flavorful with the right amount of seeetness for my tastes, and the pandan foam added not only a compatible flavor profile but a nice texture as well. The drip coffee was fine but not unique in any way to me, and the chicken siopao bun was a little disappointing because it wasn't fluffy and seemed to need more time steaming. The space is nice, and I feel that the specialty drinks are quite good, so it's worth return visits to try the bibingka and calamansi flavors and an update to this review if needed. read more

Halo halo latte??? Unheard of. It's sooo delicious. I absolutely love the use of red beans AND ube cream. It's so good I came 2 days in a row for it. Props to also using lactose free milk! The entry doors are cool and when you step inside the ambiance is great. Coffee bar set up is in the middle with many desks all around since it's also a coworking space. There are many other signature drink options including matcha and tea. Really cool how the beans are imported from the Philippines and the TV and shelf of business cards all promote other entrepreneurs within the community. The place already looks nice, but with the actual space being so historic looking, I feel like there's even more opportunity improve the ambiance since most of the chairs and tables right now are plastic and the chairs have wheels on them. There's been around 3 baristas each time and most are very nice. It is just a bit pricey for a latte since it's $1 extra for an iced drink. Probably because places usually have to add in another shot of espresso. So the iced Halo Halo drink comes out to $10. Definitely a TREAT for me so i'll have to save it for my weekends crying because i love it so much though. read more

Upon entering, I was amazed with how modern and pretty the place looked! Very cozy vibes and perfect to hang out with friends or study. Ended up ordering the Ube Iced Latte & Nutella Croissant. I rate the it about an 8.5/10. Reason being is because I tend to prefer creamy and sweeter coffee, however the Ube Iced Latte was a little strong for my liking but still had a really good Ube kick to it! Nice mix of natural lighting as well as structured. I didn't stay for long, but read from the other reviews that there are outlets! I got an Iced Ube Latte, and was so happy with my drink! Neither the coffee nor ube was overpowering. The nuttyness and sweetness from the ube reminded me of Honey Nut Cheerios (in the best way possible), and was so well balanced! Out of all the Ube Lattes I've had, this is the only one I would confidently recommend. Their bakery items also look tasty, and will probably snack on one when I bring my laptop to get some work done. Their rotating menu of seasonal flavors all sound delicious, and I will definitely be back when I'm in the area! Plus, easy parking behind the shop under an apartment building (just be sure to read the signs for 2 hour versus 20 minute spaces). The strawberry matcha was a good amount of sweet and had a perfect balance but didn't taste like ceremonial matcha. The other drinks on the other hand like the Killamansi and Mango Dream tasted vague, more like water. I think it's missing some more Calamansi. Thankfully the Mango foam made it a litte sweet. Super disappointed since Calamansi usually has a natural, vibrant refreshing taste. We also ordered pastries as well such as the Ube coffee cake and the Ube Sourdough Cinnamon Roll. Finally got to check out Teofilo! It's just a few miles from my house and I've been following them on Instagram so I was excited to visit. At the barista's recommendation I ordered the iced bibingka latte and it's definitely a 10/10 for me. You can taste the coconut but it's not overpowering at all. The space itself is really big. I can imagine people coming in and working or studying there while enjoying some coffee and pastries. I also ordered the Ube cinnamon roll.
