There's a lot I want to say about this spot but I'm a try and keep it short lol My first time visiting was this past Sunday, May 31st. I had my whole day planned out with a list of events to attend but first I wanted to stop by Patria and grab some coffee to start my morning off. Located in a parking lot next to Wilson Park on Compton Blvd and Alameda Street you'll find this nice cut lawn in front of this small white building, Patria Coffee Roaster. Depending on your time of arrival, the parking lot can be full but it's cool cuz there's also street parking available. I was able to park in the lot. After walking in I was welcomed and greeted with positive energy from 2 young ladies who I forgot their names but we'll just call them "A" and "C" lol. A guy to my right was sitting next to the window working on his laptop. And two others against the wall sipping their coffees and doing whatever on their phones. A customer was at the register ordering while another customer walked in to stand in line behind me. I let her go in front of me while I took pics and recorded footage. I like the atmosphere and space a lot. It has a very nice decor. Artwork, pictures and murals with history displayed along the walls. Grab and cold drinks available for purchase. Nice music playing that wasn't too loud but just right to complement a chill coffee shop vibe. "A" was friendly and patient as shared with her this was my first visit. As I browsed thru the coffee menu before making my selection I noticed more costumes coming in. I ordered a medium sized Americano which is $3.75 but I requested to add some hazelnut creamer as well as some almond milk which totaled out to $4.75 which was quite exceptional to me. Giving the location, the quality of service and the quality of the coffee. Not to mention to overall experience. I even thru in a $1 tip. I support the business and love the space. It feels welcoming and safe. The restroom was clean. They also have many different events held there. If you're ever in the area definitely pull up and check em' out. It's black owned as well. I actually ended up sitting there in the lot sipping my coffee while working on my video to post on social media. The coffee was good and tasteful. Didn't need any sugar. Great vibes and great coffee. You can even go the park right next door and get your steps in or just chill. I definitely recommend coming here. If you're passing thru the area or coming to the city, do yourself a favor and pull up. Check em' out. Grab you a coffee or something. While driving home, we noticed this coffee shop and I'm so happy we decided to stop by! Coffee 8/10 We ordered an iced cafe de olla and a quad Ibarra mex mocha. Both were soo flavorful. I will say, the cafe de olla is very spice forward. I taste a lot of cloves and star anise. A bit different than others I've had but I really liked it. The mex mocha was smooth and rich. I did see that their slushies are highly rated and now that it's getting hot, we'll def be back to try them! Food 10/10 They don't have food items on their menu but there are baked goods! We ordered a cream croissant looking muffin and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were warmed up and were absolutely delicious. Vibes/Ambiance : 10/10 We came on a Friday morning and it wasn't too busy. There were people working there as they have free wifi and outlets. The decor and vibe is cute! They have art on the walls, pictures, plants, community flyers/events, and statements that make you feel safe and at home. The staff is so friendly and welcoming too! There is a little parking lot right next to the shop and we didn't find it hard to find a spot. There is a park next door so I can imagine on the weekends, parking might be a bit tricker. Earlier this morning I witnessed one of the baristas rudely servicing two police officers as they came to visit the place and ordered some coffee. As they entered the shop she never greeted them with a "hi welcome",but when another customer came in after them she then greeted them with a "hi welcome". She became very quiet while they were ordering their coffees and never asked them if they would like to purchase anything else. Then when their coffees were ready she just left them there and never called them to pick them up which I thought was very horrible. This barista needs to have better customer service especially when it comes to any type of service visiting their shop(firefighter,police,emt) Patria coffee employees please do better when serving any customers that includes people who work in the service field. read more

It's hard to find good 4th wave type single origin coffee in LA unless you're in the pocket of DTLA, Echo Park and out west towards Santa Monica. It's great to see Patria in this part of town that has great quality single origin coffee. Located alongside the Alameda Corridor, you wouldn't expect such a place in a semi industrial area. The cold brew here serving up coffee beans from Nicaragua was smooth and refreshing. Seating here somewhat minimal with patrons on their computers and chilling. While you're here, check out the Kobe/Gianna mural next door at Wilson Park and the defunct skatepark. read more

Parking in the little lot next to the shop was difficult to find on a Saturday morning (11-12pm) but check down the street, adjacent to the park. Menu is simple with the classics (espresso, americanos, cappuccinos, and lattes) and some speciality coffees like the Ibarra Mex Mocha. Prices are pretty reasonable - especially for the quality. It was busy when I went in so wait time was about 10-15 mins after ordering. I also bought one of their syrups - not really sure how much I paid for it but maybe about $15? That was a little pricey but the taste was good too. A little heavy on the spices, but I prefer it. read more

I believe I've coming to Patria since 2018 and the reason I keep coming back is always due to the great tasting coffee, nostalgic memories of growing up in Compton and when visiting family nearby. I love the new tables and chairs and little succulents. The barista's are always very friendly and the music is chill and they have a little book shelf with games and toys for little kids. Tried this coffee shop today on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The little shop is cute and well decorated with plenty of seating. The service is fast and the staff is kind and very helpful. Cute lil spot, was down the street waiting on some food and good ole yelp led me to patria. Service is good, love the decor, homage to the people, local vendors set up and they have their own organic beans. I should have ordered my regular vanilla latte and then I looked at my what they are known for the cafe de olla, so I ordered a warm 1 shot of espresso cafe de olla latte ... it needed to be a lil sweeter for me, it was strong. Incredible cafe in Compton! My friends and I stopped here on our way through town, and we were not disappointed. This local spot was super busy, with customers and their pets everywhere. I loved the bearded dragon!! I loved the equality support billboards and local business support. There was also a nice little library section. This was a super small cafe! Parking was super limited and the cafe was not busy. The staff were super friendly and the service was extremely fast. We ordered the Vanilla Bean Iced Latte and the Hazelnut Iced Latte and both were really tasty. They both had a lot of flavor, but the vanilla latte could have been a bit more creamy! When we got there they didn't have a great selection of snack items to choose from so we only got the coffee. This cafe is a bit far from us so we unfortunately wouldn't be back unless we were in the area, but we are glad that we went to try it out! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to get some tea and coffee and to check this place out. I am not a coffee drinker so I got their Citrus Chamomile ($4) iced. It was very refreshing, but I'm not sure I could taste the citrus part of it. Way more Chamomile in my opinion. My husband got an Americano with a Cafe De Olla syrup ($3.75). The syrup tasted like a horchata! So combined with the coffee, which had a nice layer of cinnamon on top, my husband thought it was delicious. It was also iced. The menu isn't extensive, but they have a good selection of coffee and syrups. They also have a kids section with hot chocolate and slushies. There's some chairs and tables inside for people to relax and sit down. The cashier was really friendly and helped us pick out something she thought we'd like.
