My wife got the tomato basil soup with her sandwich and she says it has ruined every other tomato soup for her and we will have to come back. Overall good experience. We were looking forward to trying this place while visiting Branson. We searched for pet friendly restaurants and even though Black Oak Grill pulled up in the search, know that ONLY service dogs are allowed. The patio was closed due to the weather so unfortunately we were denied entry. Very disappointed. I want to make sure others know and possibly save you a trip. We ordered the French dip sandwich and ribs. Both were so dry. French dip was 30% fat, the rest was horribly dry. It would have been okay had they not dumped the thyme in the au jus. It was bitter. We used to eat here often but today ended it. Service was mediocre at best. read more

Ordered two of your ribeyes and fried chicken BLT. Over half of each of the ribeyes were fat and what meat there was, had gristle running through it. We order ribeyes all of the time and are well aware of the normal fat content on a ribeye. This was excessive to the point of inedible. The chicken sandwich had burnt chicken and limp bacon. These are not difficult menu items, yet they were all utter failures. We tried your restaurant due to being on vacation and wanting to try a local up scale restaurant. I have had better steaks at chain restaurants for half the price. What a disappointment and waste of money. We will be sharing our experience as we stay at the Lakeside RV resorts and the RV social media sites as a place to absolutely avoid at all costs. read more

SKIP!!! But here's is why it's a 2 star because honestly if I could leave a 0 star I would. They are accommodating for large parties, we had 10 people, and the waitress we had to as really really good! Do yourself a favor and skip this place unless you don't know how to season your food! But portion sizes are good! Now their food here has literally NO seasoning what's so ever! Like salt and pepper can't even help the food flavoring here. We had the spinach and 5 cheese dip for an appetizer and it didn't have flavor but it wasn't the worse of the meals! The kids were starving and so they devoured it! One of the entrées was the grilled meatloaf which tasted like ground beef with a can of tomato sauce smothered on top. You can also tell they haven't changed their oil because the chicken fried steak was really dark, like really dark and also a little burnt. I thought maybe it was just the oil but then you could taste the char/burntness taking certain bites. We also ordered the bbq Mac n cheese and it wasn't too bad. You can tell they just threw the pulled pork in a bottle of bbq sauce and mixed it. The Mac n cheese literally taste like it's from the box! I've made better just starting off learning how to make it from scratch! Our kiddos who usually never complain nor picky eaters didn't even touch their kids chicken fingers and Mac n cheese. It was so bad for them they asked for us to order them something else, somewhere else! Now I will give them this, the zucchini's weren't bad! Seems like the only thing that could nail was their sides because all the zucchini and mash potatoes were good and eaten with no complaints! If it wasn't for our waitress, this place wouldn't have gotten a 2 star whatsoever! She made sure we never went empty on our drinks, always came back and checked on our table. Went to what was our favorite restaurant in Branson Friday evening. Horrible experience! I ordered my go to meal, Seared Ahi Black Oak salad. I have never before gone to a restaurant and have the kitchen purposely mess with my food. The salad normally comes with 5/6 slices of seared Ahi, my meal had 19 chunks of burnt hard fish. I immediately advised the waitress, she got a dark haired woman to come to the table (didn't ID herself) the woman said she would remove the uneaten meal from our bill, asked if I wanted something else, I told her I did not want any other item. Kitchen staff came out of the kitchen, sat at a table and glared at us. My guest finished their meal we paid and left. Today I called the restaurant to speak to a manager, was told by a man named Aaron that the manager does not have time to speak to customers. read more

So disappointed all around. We're here for 4 nights and I really search carefully on Yelp for the best possible options out of hundreds here at Branson. Searched for "Steakhouses" and this one came to top of the list with good reviews. And it's not chain, at least to my knowledge. Though it did seem more like a chain when we got here. First, it's not even close to a steakhouse, but maybe that's on Yelp? One Ribeye and a Sirloin on menu. Bad start. I ordered Chicken fried steak and my wife chicken fried chicken. I got chicken. But what really bothers me the most is when waitstaff person does not write anything down, and acts like they can get it all right. Seldom do they, and sure enough screwed it up. Menu says all dinners come with "mixed vegetables". But not accurate. All come with straight zucchini which none of my family eats except me. Server confirmed it's always zucchini. No Tabasco when we asked. But she did find one when we were almost done. The greeters and person calling all of the people on waiting list conducted business from our booth. Yes, initiating multiple phone calls a minute on our booth. See picture. Come on!!!!! To top it all off, our waitress was incredibly rude when I I inquired about my steak and the vegetables. We visited the landing with our 5 mos labradoodle and need outdoor seating for her. It was so hot outside they were not seating outside, but the Manager made an exception....... Sat us where there was less traffic in the restaurant. We were so thankful. They brought our puppy some water, and she just layed under the table on the cool concrete. We were in Branson for a national dance competition and wanted to try as many restaurant options that ate not available at home in OKC. We found Black Oak on our first walk through Branson Landing but didn't get to try it until Saturday. Our server took our order and brought drinks back quickly. Food came out hot and fresh. I've been to this restaurant a handful of times. Would definitely recommend the happy hour (4-6 M-F if I remember correctly). Great deals on apps and mixed drinks. The food itself is average. Chicken on the ceaser salad was dry. The complementary bread is so light and fluffy and melts in your mouth. I've also tried the ahi black oak salad which was good. The dressing was delicious, but I wish it came on the side because it was a little too drenched. The flipping lies margarita is soooo yummy! Love the ambiance of the restaurant. Great vibe & friendly staff, but I'd have to agree with other reviews that the food lacks flavor. Everything was very bland, even food that came with sauce & gravy. The potato skins were 5 halves of the tiniest potatoes. Basically a baby baked potato. They weren't crispy like typical potato skins. The meatloaf meal was very bland & zucchini was undercooked. This could be a cool place if the menu was revamped. Nice location on the water. Apps looked appealing, but they were out of a lot. Totally understandable with supply chain issues. read more

Rosemary Grilled Chicken Was there with a large group. Virtually all meals were pre-cooked..That is the only way they could bring food to the table 5 minutes after placing the order. Virtually everyone's order was brought out 5 minutes after placing orders. My meal was absolutely horrible. The chicken was basically cardboard. It was hard as a rock. If I visit again (not from my own choice) I will probably just order a drink and go to Cakes and Creams later. I hate to be mean, but pre-cooked meals isn't my idea of a good restaurant. For Branson, USA, Black Oak Grill is a pleasant reprieve from all the hillbillyness. (I say this with much love.) Black Oak Grill has an emphasis on locally sourced foods and the homemade. I have eaten here three times (twice within two days) because it was a healthier and more pleasant option. I LOVE their Smoked Chicken & Spinach Salad (Pinot-infused cranberries, smokehouse bacon, goat cheese, toasted pumpkin seeds and garlic-butter croutons with warm bacon vinaigrette). LOVE it! I so want to replicate those wine-infused cranberries and that bacon dressing! The house salad and tomato-basil soup is pretty outstanding as well. Honestly, a cup o' soup was not enough. read more

Very nice experience. This place was recommended and we really enjoyed the food. Service was good, but not great. Building was nice inside. Nice atmosphere. We both had the Chicken Breast with fresh zucchini and the mashed potatoes. Chicken was moist and tender, zucchini was aldanti, and the mashed potatoes had the skin still on them with a white gravy, which was delicate but tasty. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant looked over waterway which was nice. We would definitely go back here and eat.
