One of our teenage guest really wanted to try German food. We have been to Germany many times so we are fond of the cuisine. We found this restaurant, called the same day (in season) and made a reservation for a prime time on their ice new outdoor patio. They server was fantastic, and the food was wonderful and authentic. I've been in Naples for 10 years and am so sorry I didn't discover this gem till now. Authentic German dining in a cozy place was the perfect answer to unusually cold weather. Excellent service by manager and waiter yielded a lovely table , and a good choice of wines was quickly followed by hot potato pancakes with salmon, capers, and sour cream plus a warm venison sausage with two mustards and and a berry sauce. We each selected a style of veal schnitzel (pork is an alternate) accompanied by homemade spatzle and red cabbage. I chose calling Wiener style with fried egg and anchovies and my wife a piccata style with lemon and capers. All items were cooked perfectly. We ended with their homemade cherry packed Black Forrest cake. Menu has many other choices and we will surely return. read more

They had a cucumber salad special that I could have eaten until I exploded. I ordered a chicken schnitzel topped with apples and brie cheese it was heavenly! Now pair that with amazing red cabbage and spaetzle. You can not go wrong. As full as we were we had to get the apple strudel and now I am craving it. This restaurant was absolutely delightful. I love German food, but it can be hard to find good German food outside of Germany. We ordered the Currywurst appetizer, and then each ordered a schnitzel - Jaegerschnitzel for me and Pfefferschnitzel for my husband. All of the food was amazing. The spaetzle was perfect and authentic. The portions were HUGE and there was lots of sauce, always a must for me. The red cabbage sauerkraut was some of the best we've ever had. A Warsteiner on the side and Apfelstrudel for dessert made for a perfect meal. This restaurant clearly has heart. The staff takes pride in the establishment - we felt very welcome. Not going to lie -when we drove up, I was skeptical. From the outside, I didn't expect much. Fortunately, looks can be VERY deceiving. Just one bite of the potato pancake and I became a true believer. Everything was amazing - black cherry cocktail, potato pancakes, German pretzel with 3 equally interesting and delicious mustards, the sauerbraten, the chicken Parisienne and all the sides that came with theses dishes were absolutely delicious. I wanted to stop eating when I was full but I couldn't because it was all too good! Even the bread on the table was amazing. Luckily, I found room for a few bites of Black Forest cake. Tried this place on a Sunday evening. Pretty crowded but they found us a table inside. We started out with potato pancake appetizers that were large and superb. My entree was two different sausages with there different condiments. i do not like cabbage so I asked for a spaetzle alternative. Our server was upbeat and pleasant saying it would be his pleasure. Everything was excellent. My wife had the pork schnitzel. It was a bit dry and thin, but that tends to be the nature of the dish. Finished with a nice apple strudel. A winner, that will be a restaurant we'll return to. read more

My fiance is a huge fan of German food and German beer and has been asking to try one of our local German spots. We happened into this place at 5 pm sharp, prime Q-tip time! Within 10 minutes we were literally the youngest couple in the place by a good 50 years. This didn't bother me but wanted to present that up front in case you are looking for a young German techno scene hehe.... On to the good stuff! The service was wonderful, seems to be family run and they are all very attentive. For an app we shared the potato pancakes. You can never go wrong with these and they did not disappoint. Specifically the applesauce it came with was delicious! Jerry got the Oktoberfest special. A selection of delicious meats, potato salad, cabbage and a pretzel with as much mustard as you can handle. It was all good. The only type of meat he didn't love was the veal loaf. It was kind of mushy. The good news is you can mix and match what you want on your platter. I went with the dinner salad. They had a curry dressing which I asked for on the side because I didn't know if I would like it but it was so full of flavor! A perfect compliment to the fresh greens and beets on the salad. My fiance and I went to Black Forest for Valentine's Day and will DEFINITELY, 150% be returning!! The food was outstanding. We ordered quite a smorgasbord that consisted of potato pancakes, a house salad, a bowl of mushroom bisque, 2 sausage platters, and 2 desserts: the Black Forest cake and a Valentine's Day special. The V-Day special was both delicious and adorable, featuring homemade cherry ice cream dipped in chocolate, and two brownies topped with Nutella. (I'll be sure to post a picture!) The Black Forest Cake we took to-go, simply because it seemed to be what the restaurant is known for, so I wanted to try it ... I was not impressed. Actually, I was super disappointed that it was missing the nuts and coconut ... Then a friend reminded me that I was [an idiot] confusing Black Forest Cake with German Chocolate Cake (which is what I REALLY wanted, dammit!) ... I gave the Black Forest another go once I knew what I was eating (it was a HUGE slice) and felt better about it. The prices were extremely reasonable. We ate like swines and had two large beers each, and our tab came to about $100, including tip. They fancied the place up a bit for the holiday with red table clothes and paper hearts. Truthfully, I would have preferred traditional Bavarian decor (which was lacking, save for two cuckoo clocks), but neither are going to change my overall opinion of the place. Service was slow, but understandably so. (The place was mobbed for the holiday ... In fact, I overheard one couple saying they drove up from Marco Island because they loved the food so much.) I imagine it's much better on an off day. Even so, the waitress was incredibly nice and knowledgeable of the menu. She was busting her rear, too. Our entire dinner took about 2 hours from start to finish, which I didn't find annoying at all for a Valentine's Day dinner. It was nice and romantic, actually. All in all, I give this place an A+++. I ordered a chicken weiner schnitzel (basically a large breaded chicken cutlet) and a pork Jager schnitzel which is a seared pork loin with a creamy mushroom sauce. Both entrees were huge. And delicious. The entrees come with sides of spatzle and red cabbage. The spatzel is quite good. The red cabbage is amazing. My husband loves vegetables and we asked for mixed veggies in place of spatzle and cabbage with the chicken. No problem. Take out is a bargain here as the To Go prices are even lower than dining in. 20 bucks for a large, delicious entree with two sides, bread, butter and are you ready...a complimentary apple strudel. Visiting Naples where my sister has a condo, I got a hankering for some good German food. With all the Midwesterners in this area, I figured there must be a German restaurant somewhere to be found. I found three on Yelp, all with good reviews, and settled on Black Forest. It was about seven miles from my sister's place but well worth the drive. The restaurant is fairly small and the decor tasteful and unpretentious. The bar has a bit more of a "German" look than the rest of the seating area. We arrived at about 5:15 on a Sunday afternoon and were among the first customers. (The restaurant subsequently filled up rather quickly.) We were seated promptly and found our server to be gracious and attentive. I ordered a one-liter Mass of Spaten Oktoberfest for $12 which in my opinion was very reasonable pricing. The beer was fresh and tasty. My wife had a soft drink. The menu had a lovely selection of Schnitzels, Sauerbraten, sausages, and various other German specialties. I chose the Zigeunerschnitzel, one of my favorite dishes, which I rarely find nowadays even in Germany. (I ordered the pork version but all of the Schnitzels are also available in veal for $10 more.) It was accompanied by Spaetzle and red cabbage. My wife chose the Jägerschnitzel. Everything was, in a word, perfect. We couldn't have asked for more authentic German cuisine. It being Sunday, we were treated to a complimentary dessert of Strudel with ice cream, loaded with apples and just delicious.
