We just discovered this hidden gem and visited for the first time last evening. The inside space is very small, so we were glad we had made reservations (although there are some outside tables). Since the space is so tiny, the service pace seemed rather frenetic, with 2 servers as well as the owner dashing here and there, but everyone was efficient and pleasant. We ordered a small pretzel to share, then 2 variations of schnitzel, each accompanied by spaetzle and red cabbage, and finished with the Black Forest cake. Everything was delicious! Our only disappointment was the very small German wine selection, especially whites; would have loved a Gewurtztraminer or Grauburgunder, but only Reisling was available. We highly recommend this restaurant and definitely plan on returning very soon! read more

My husband and I were out Christmas shopping and wanted to grab a bite to eat. We didn't realize we needed reservations but they quickly accommodated us. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My husband ordered the beef short ribs and I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel. The portions were huge! We also ordered the potato pancakes for an appetizer. This is a tough one. The experience was not terrible, but it was not great either. I would give it 3.5 stars, but as this is not an option, I will go with 3 stars strictly on the merit of food and my main dish in particular. We were seating outside with the space heaters close by, so it was nice. Beer selection is limited, but the Hefeweizen beer I got was good. Appetizers were good - potato pancakes were tasty, also chicken liver pate was quite good. Split pea soup was good, but the sausage there felt somehow underwhelming. My biggest gripe with the dinner was my main dish, the Bavarian platter. The pork chop was just very chewy and lacked any flavor. The pulled pork was full of fat and moderately tasty. The sausage was the only tasty part of the dish, even red cabbage which I generally love, was just okay. Service was good. No recommendation here. Maybe this was just a wrong day. We called the restaurant to order a couple of ham hocks for Sunday evening dinner to share with the family at home. Everything was ready when we arrived which was perfect. Owner was awesome. The hocks or Schweinshaxn as they say in Germany came with sauerkraut and potatoes with small cups of mustard and gravy. The owner threw in a couple of slices of cake too as Sunday it was Strudel day. Between the five of us we only had room to finish one order ! Now I have to take one of those things home and finish it this week. Alas, we will survive. Everyone at home was impressed being able to enjoy a typical authentic Bavarian dish. Great place! I just found it on the recommendation of a neighbor and will be making it a regular. This was truly authentic German comfort food, the sauerkraut was so creamy and delicious I've never tasted anything like it. There is also free Apple strudel on Sunday & Tuesday but if you are as much as I did, you may be too full for dessert! Take it home, and there's also Black Forest cake! The best food around, flavors were so on point. Even if you're not that familiar with German food ( or how to pronounce them!) you will love this place. I grew up on this food, and this place brought a tear to my eye when my plate arrived. So authentic, no frills food, but such a classy, homey little spot. I haven't had German food in a long while and gave this place a try for Valentines Day. My meal was a special for the day it was the Beer Braised Short Ribs. Flavor was just so delicious and my boyfriend ordered the trout which was also amazing! We were both so stuffed that we didn't order dessert. My wife and I wanted to celebrate Octoberfest and looked for an old style German restaurant with a traditional menu. Following our meal and looking at previous reviews, I wholeheartedly agree with MIchael H's previous review. While our appetizers (the house salads and potato pancakes) were very good, it was a downward slide from there. My wife's sauerbraten was just as Michael described, tough, dry and no flavor on either the meat or the sauce. My Chicken Pariessene was awful. Chicken was tough and fry. No gravy. The staff was generous and did comp the meal, but had to pay for the terrible apple strudel. Lots of really good restaurants in Naples. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

My wife and I loved our lunch today at Black Forest. We were greeted by the owner who always makes us feel like we are at home there. Our waiter, Juan, was just nice. We ordered their small pretzel and potato pancakes as appetizers. The pretzel brings three different mustards, each unique and full of flavor. We both ordered pork for lunch. The food and hospitality were top notch. I was in town on business and saw Black Forest had great reviews and so gave it a shot. Located in a strip mall that is undergoing a major renovation so things looked iffy. Once inside I was greeted by friendly staff. The food was flavorful and the portions large. After I finished they brought out hot apple strudel to top it all off. The red cabbage was probably the best I have had. The dunkel was cold and the services as warm and friendly. We love the black Forrest cake with Chantilly cream-yum! And it's a generous sharing slice! Expensive dinner entrees Everywhere in general are getting too annoying especially with too much bread, rice/grains and white potato --just causing people to be fat and diabetic. What good are restaurants that kill the patrons? I'm not critiquing and blaming this restaurant specifically for fattening people, rather, I wish all the restaurants would have keto "small lite" and healthful plates for people to sample with a smaller price tag. Who wants to risk spending $20-26 for an entree when it may or may not be good? I wanted to try some small samples of German food but it's not possible here and only some places have happy hour small portions to try. Thus, We opted to eat dessert. Some liked the apple one but the sugar-coating is not necessary and it needs more ice cream that's not half melted before it comes out. The flan was ok. Eat black Forrest cake.
