We enjoyed a lovely and filling lunch here on a Sunday midday. I called in advance, per the instructions on their website, for a reservation (which was not a problem at all). We were seated promptly and greeted by the owner and presumably, his wife, who proceeded as our server for the meal. The decor is fun and typically German. I could hear the pork being pounded out for the schnitzel after we ordered - a good sign that the food was being made fresh. Both the jaeger schnitzel and the curry wurst were delicious. The käsespätzle was tasty as well. We left with a number of boxes as the portions were generous. The pork shank is the best. You need a couple of days reservation to have it. It's good for 3 people but it's serves for 2. It's run by a sweet couple. Tried to make reservations on Monday for Sunday but was told to email the request and I would find out Wednesday. My dad and I really wanted ham hocks so when the reservation was confirmed I sent an email back asking about ham hocks, but no reply. Sunday came and we arrived about 10 minutes early. The place was more than 1/2 full. The man there sat us and left, it was clear to see that this man might be the owner but he was the host, waiter, busboy and chef! My parents asked for water 3x's and finally a girl appeared and gave my dad water. We order the veal and it was delicious, but sadly the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Not sure if the a/c was broken or just not turned on so I found it to be very warm which for me and my sinuses made things uncomfortable. I wish I could say the experience was over the top, but due to the lack of staffing it fell short. The man was very nice and the food was excellent but this was not my vibe. read more

Have been wanting to try this little place for quite some time, and finally made the jump with my cousin and we have found another hidden gem in Cape Coral/Ft. Myers. The atmosphere was great, it is a very small town, home town kind of feel and we enjoyed that very much. The service was amazing and the food was absolutely to die for. My cousin got the Jagerschitzel and I got the Wiener Schnitzel, our meals were incredible, you could tell that the food was fresh and it tasted like it just came out of my grandma's German kitchen. My husband is from Germany and I cook German, so we are tough critics. I had the Rouladen with red cabbage and Spätzle. The Rouladen was very good, red cabbage was ok on the sweet side (I like mine much better), and the Spätzle was overcooked. My husband had the Zigeunerschnitel. I have never seen a pork schnitzel that large anywhere, and the pepper sauce was lacking peppers and flavor. I don't think the food was bad, but if you are not familiar with German food I would not give them a 5 star rating. They work hard (you can hear them in the kitchen pounding the meat), portions are large and prices are reasonable. Guten Appetite! read more

Don't let the outside of this place turn you off. The proprietor, Hans is a delightful man skilled in the German culinary arts. There are only 6-7 tables so we always make a reservation even in the off season. My favorite dish is the sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings. Rivaling my grandmother's, it is quite tasty. They also serve giant mugs of beer and yes there is wine too but the main draw is the food that never lets us down. I once had the black forest cake for dessert. It's fantastic. You may want to stop in just for that because it is so wonderful and the serving is more than one person can eat, especially after dinner. Don't be alarmed by the noise coming from the kitchen. HJ German Corner is a fantastic eatery on US 41, recommended by my friend, Kimberly H. HJ or Chef Hans Joachim is a one man show. He greets you, seats you, takes your order, bring your drinks, cooks and serves you! You can hear him pounding the schnitzel by hand when it is ordered. Hans opened HJ German Corner during the pandemic and we never have an opportunity to try this. First, there are only six inside tables well space out with one table for two, four tables for four and one table for six or 24 seating insides. There are two tables outside as well. For dinner with this setup, it is recommended you have a reservation. Today, I swing by for lunch and was not disappointed at all. Despite the lack of help, Hans' personality radiated with a smile and very efficiently perform his work! You can have conversation without feeling rushing through your meal while sipping your German Beers or wines and a little German background music! I opted a Sauerbraten with Rotkohl (Red Cabbage) and Kartofelknodel (Potato Dumpling). The Sauerbraten was tender and savory! The Karofelknodel and Rotkohl are perfect complement! Slowly, I enjoyed each bite with a sip of Hofbrau Lager. This was a big lunch and there were no room for my favorite Apple Strudel or Black Forest Cake! What a find! We walked in the restaurant and immediately felt we were in Germany with the decor and music. The food was delicious and authentic, from the German draft beer, to the hand pounded schnitzel, to the homemade potato dumplings, to the bratwurst. I'm from NYC and my family would go to German town a few times a year during holidays because Germans know how to throw a Christmas gathering ..
