Finally got to try 1942 Restaurant, this new Mexican spot tucked away around the corner; and wow, it was absolutely worth the mini scavenger hunt. It's located in the far corner of a plaza behind another plaza, but don't let that deter you. Once you find it, you'll be glad you did. The décor is colorful, modern, and inviting. We were seated right away since it wasn't too busy, and the staff was friendly from the start. We were brought complimentary chips with salsa and what seemed like a cilantro cream sauce -- both packed with flavor and just the right touch of heat. I ordered the carnitas platter and my girlfriend went with the chicken burrito. The food came out quickly and everything was incredibly flavorful. Portions are very generous -- I took half of my meal home and was still full. The menu is massive with tons of tempting food options and some fantastic-looking drinks we can't wait to try next time. And speaking of next time... the patio is gorgeous, and we're already looking forward to coming back when the weather heats up so we can enjoy it. We visited at 3pm-ish on a Saturday. We were the only ones there. Sat on the patio on a beautiful day. They have lights over the patio. I imagine a nighttime visit would be nice. We had the steak and shrimp meal, chile rellenos and a beef torta. First time I've eaten chile rellenos made like a corndog. The way they did the egg batter was thick. I opted for verde (green) sauce over the typical red sauce. They were ok. I like mine better. Drinks were a spicy margarita and the Smoky Pina Rita. I'm personally not a fan of mezcal but for those who are would enjoy this drink. read more

Super awesome Mexican food in a fabulous atmosphere with interesting spins in classic Mexican dishes. Service was on the spot in a Saturday afternoon. We had the place to ourselves almost. The Texas dip was delicious albeit a bit liquidy for a queso dip. Still great but I could have used a bib. Flavor was fantastic. Drink menu does not disappoint and I cannot wait to go back and try more! The coco azul margarita was yummy and coco nutty. Next time I will try the margarita flight! Hubbys chimichanga was the bomb. Even their rice was better than any other. Mexican place we visit. I have the Burritto California because instead of beans they put fries in it! The pizzabirria was delicious to start and dunk in that birria sauce, so good as an appetizer but it's a lot of food, 8 slices. 4 of us split it. I had the special huge chimichanga without the hot sauce on top. It was supposed to have steak, chicken, and shrimp inside, but I asked for no shrimp and our waiter said ok extra gauc for you instead! MY FAVORITE. The quesabirria was absolutely delicious - tender beef with lots of flavor. Chips, salsa, guac, rice, churros for dessert, and the amazing drinks - all delicious. We were super impressed and the staff was great! Totally attentive and friendly. Seems like they have a great time working together. It was packed when we came in (6 pm on a Friday in the summer, but we found seats at the bar with no problem). Really enjoy this restaurant. The food and service are great. It's on the top of my list for Mexican. Have gone several times. Prices are reasonable and I've enjoyed everything I've tried. Had the lunch chimichanga the other day, perfect portion for me and it was very good. My friend had the beef fajitas, any of their fajitas are a good bet and there are always enough to take home. Have had the pizza, which reminds me of a crispy quesadilla, we split it amongst the table, it was enjoyed by all. Have had the enchiladas, another winner, love the cheese dip. It can be a bit tough to find since it is tucked in a small center behind the Walgreens on Wiggins Pass but don't let that deter you. Finally, an excellent Mexican restaurant in the Naples/Bonita Springs area. We've lived here for several years, and have missed the Mexican food, we were able to get so easily in Texas and California; and trust me we've tried practically every restaurant in the area. We ordered the Tacos de Arrachera with rice and the Tacos a Pastor with beans. Everything was excellent. The meat was flavorful and tender, it had all the garnish you would expect in an authentic Mexican restaurant. The portions were very generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The hostess was friendly when we arrived and gave us the option of sitting inside, in an air-conditioned patio or outside by the pond. We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful evening and the setting is just lovely. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. And we particularly liked the old school instrumental music that was playing outside. We will definitely be back and try other things on the menu, which looked to be very extensive. We went for the first time tonight. Classic margarita had no alcohol in them and were not great. The fajita chicken/ beef were ok very little meat but tons of peppers and onions to fill skillet plate rice and beans were cold. Lots of staff but not great service. Won't be back anytime soon. Based on the very positive reviews, I was excited to try this restaurant. I'm from CA and Mexican is my favorite food so I'm always on the hunt for great Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. I started with the margarita flight which is supposed to be four different flavors. However, they all looked and tasted to same, and were just okay. We can make a much better margarita at home. Then I had steak fajitas which were flavorless and poor quality steak. To top it off, my daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries, which were served with ketchup packets. I understand, ketchup is not a primary condiment at a Mexican restaurant, but if you have fries on the menu, splurge for a ketchup bottle. No mom wants to spend 5 minutes squeezing ketchup out of packets unless they are at McDonald's. For those looking for the diamond in the rough Mexican restaurant in Florida, this is definitely not it. I will continue my search as should you. read more
