Honestly, I really loved the vibe and culture around Black Coffee. The drink itself was smooth with a great foam -- the kind I'm still trying to recreate at home. Service was also great, and the staff were patient and helpful with all our questions. The "take a book, leave a book" idea was a really nice touch for the community. That said, it's not somewhere I'd go regularly. Part of it is the area, but even then, it feels more like a spot you check out once rather than keep coming back to. The drinks were decent but honestly the food was a big let down, the bacon taco was burnt and I took one bite and told him I couldn't eat that. I got the bagel instead and then they brought it out without the bacon jam it's supposed to come with so I asked for it and she said they were out... Lovely little coffee shop near Texas Wesleyan. They have your standard coffee items as well as a few specialty drinks. There's an assortment of pasties available too. Visited this location yesterday, late morning. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with cinnamon powder. The baristas were very kind and welcoming. I did not wait to place my order and had a minimal wait before receiving my drink. My latte was delicious. I would definitely say this is one of the best that I have had. This morning I got the opportunity to drive to Black Coffee for my pre-worship service cup of Joe! I decided to try out the #brownSugarBabeColdBrew which they don't add the breve now. Instead it has cold foam on top which is what I wanted anyway! The cold brew was smooth with just a hint of sweetness, just the way I like my coffee. I prefer to taste my cold brew moreso than the sugary ingredients. I also ordered a pour over, straight- no cream no sugar. And I got to watch my barista make it. It's black coffee, just made in a different way. I could tell the grounds were fresh though, bold and robust! Loved it. I also got a chocolate milk with a little vanilla syrup for my little and a veggie breakfast sandwich! She gobbled it up before I could get more than three bites, haha. Finally got the chance to stop by Black Coffee. It's such a beautiful coffee shop . The staff was so helpful and friendly and the coffee was so good . I got the snickers coffee iced at the recommendation of the gentleman behind the counter . I also loved the book selection. You can leave a book and also take one . I thought that was really cute . I ended up leaving the mental health awareness children's book that my babies wrote and took a pretty awesome one as well . Can't wait to come back . I wish them all the success. read more

Coffee, since the snickers latte wasn't available i just got a mocha latte, it was ok. Babe got a caramel latte, he says it was good. Usually , from reviews and pics. you'd get a cute cup with a cute design in the latte. You get a to go cup now. I understand this. Proper protocols for the virus. I read so many good reviews about the batista, but I didn't receive the best service. I asked a question and one barista went away in her own workd for a moment, when she came back she didn't ask my question again, she looked at thr other barista.... I just laughed it off. That made me not buy a shirt and food. I just demand a level of customer service when I spend my money. I do believe in 2nd chances though, so I'll be back. I'll update the review if needed. Yelp is encouraging everyone to go local, and this was a recommended spot. It is just across from the college and I bet is popular with the students. The decor is very clean, minimalist. I loved the artwork on the wall outside and in. There wasn't anyone there when I came in on Sunday, and I ordered the honey lavender latte. They don't carry nonfat milk, so I had to opt for almond. It is a consistency thing for me. Though I think almond milk changes the flavor of the coffee. My latte was good. It was very heavy on the lavender, so very herbal. The coffee wasn't bitter and it was lightly sweet, but I didn't get the taste of honey. My only real gripe was that it wasn't HOT. It was at a temperature to drink it down immediately, but I like it hot, and by the time I got to my destination it was cool. read more

We've been wanting to come give this place a try forever and finally made it over. We accidentally visited during an event which probably made our experience skewed. A lady was literally giving tattoos next to me so yeah made for a bit of a strange experience especially since my husband and I were planning on sitting to read for a bit haha. That didn't happen. I ordered a butter cup latte hot and my husband got an iced coffee which they made using flash method. I was super bummed they put our drinks in to-go cups even though we said here but maybe it was because of the event. My drink didn't have latte art which was sad. What was more sad was the drink itself. I was underwhelmed, the espresso just wasn't my favorite and seemed like it wasn't dialed in right or something. The actual peanut butter used was good but also added such a gross texture to the drink. My husbands drink took forever and was a bit over-extracted but he said it was good and better than he thought it would be after watching the barista make it. Yes we are coffee snobs haha. Ummm so I just tried Black Coffee and they might as well name their coffee Black Magic Coffee. Woowzers their coffee is stronnnnng. Mind you I am a coffee and tea drinker. Today, I tried the Honey Rose cup with coconut milk. Sheesh laweesh. The flavor was something that I have never had before. It was realllllly good. The honey was such a great flavor and it tasted roasted. Okay, don't laugh at me for saying that the coffee tasted roasted. What I mean is is that it tasted like it had roasted honey nuts in it of some sort. The flavor was not too rich but was flavorful enough. It was creamy-probably due to the flavor combination with the coconut milk. The vibes here are really chill. There's a small dine-in area, but I don't beleive it was available due to COVID-19. Both drinks were brimming with flavor and perfectly balanced. We also got a veggie breakfast sammie and a pumpkin cruffin. I posted pics of everything except the cruffin because I ate it too fast. LOL! That cruffin flaky, buttery, pumpkin glaze goodness was simply too yummy to photograph. The shop is laid back and welcoming. Obviously, the baristas are talented. This gem is across from Texas Wesleyan university and surrounded by a neighborhood. There are plenty of places to park and I appreciate that black coffee has a community coffeehouse fee. I ordered a chai latte (12oz.) and a slice of poppyseed cake. The baristas were helpful, quick and friendly. What a cute coffee shop! - strategically located across the street from Texas Wesleyan I'm guessing the line is out the door certain times of the day. I didn't arrive until 11ish so while most of the tables were occupied there was no wait to order. The barista was friendly and whipped up a honey rose latte - large - and bagged up a couple of the sausage kolaches which are locally sourced by Pearl Snap. The coffee was super smooth. I liked it! And I'm not a connoisseur nor an expert in the topic. But I'm a consumer! The amount of coffee shops that open in and through this pandemic is ridiculous. And I love it! This shop in particular is a rare gem. In my personal opinion, underrated! Coffee here is VERY good(excellent). Is full of flavor and not boring. Yes is not in a hype or popular neighborhood. But guess what!... it's still serves an excellent coffee(in my opinion above most shops in dfw). Service is not pretentious at. This people clearly know what they are doing. Black coffee is a huge win! The people are incredibly nice, the coffee is amazing and the pastries are Devine. They had a decaf option for my husband. He had the Lady Marmalade and I had the Sunset Brew and we shared a cruffin. The sunset brew is a one time order for me because it's too far outside my norm, but I was glad to try it! They also had oat milk available. We saw they had whole beans (we got a medium roast and decaf bag) we could purchase and take home. We can't wait to give those a try. The ladies behind the counter were nice and friendly. I went for the honey lavender latte, I went with iced as that was what the cashier recommended. I was curious to what this latte would taste like, it was very enjoyable. This cafe is very close to the school campus and a great spot for students and staff to grab a coffee and study in when possible again due to COVID. From murals to lit phrases, cozy seats and fellow black people promoting voter registration or just other coffee enthusiasts... the environment is a place MLK would've had community meetings at. However, I'm not a big fan of a la cart businesses. I do not want to pay additional for items like milk or syrup (which I did for both of my drinks)... The Blueberry Coconut Latte was just okay. My sweet-awesome hairdresser referred me to this place and even though it is across town from where I live.. I will make an effort to make my way to this establishment on the weekends when I'm at the hospital. WOW! This place is super cute, clean, quick service and lovely peeps behind the counter who answer all questions. I ended up getting some breakfast tacos, Black Eye and a bag of Eastsider (which is their expresso). They had the whole beans and they grind them for you/us. A couple of friends had told me about this place, and I decided to check it out this morning. I'm glad I did; it's not one of those coffee shops that gets so packed with people you can't find a seat. They get a decent amount of traffic. However, it is an excellent location to enjoy coffee, breakfast and get some work done. This morning I got their Daily Blend Drip Coffee and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese taco. Their daily blend is fantastic tasting; it's just the right amount of boldness but not so much that it kills your palate. Now let's dive into this breakfast taco. The first thing I always notice is the filling ratio to the tortilla. Then I determine quality based on the tortilla and salsa. Black Coffee hit all 3 for me, and most of all, the taco was delicious.
