I am visiting from Mississippi and a family friend suggested this spot. I was not disappointed! I got the iced raspberry cream latte from their summer menu and my boyfriend got a cappucino. We also got a cinnamon sugar cruffin to share. I am pretty picky with coffee because I work in a coffee shop as a barista, but their coffee was genuinely delicious. My raspberry creme latte was not too sweet, the raspberry was just the perfect amount. The atmosphere is lively and good customer service. Check this place out for sure. I hope I can make my way back before I head out of town! read more

This place is a strong no for me. Being a black Woman born and raised in Polywood I will not return. Walking in, was not greeted. At the counter I received assistance from a Latino girl, she may or may not wanted to work that day (vibe given). I asked what is your most requested coffee beverage here, she points at a sign on the counter. Ummmm okay, I asked again. What is your most requested coffee beverage here. She then touches the sign. Y'all! The sign had bakery items, seasonal drinks and one latte. Thinking ..Oh okay... your most requested item is seasonal . I then tell her what I normally get from my other favorite coffee house (Carmel macchiato). She grabs a small 3 oz cup and says" this is our macchiato". Thinking...Ummm okay, "do you all have something similar to the one that's made at Starbucks"she really didn't give me an answer, she just looks up at the menu and waits for me to speak. My sister now says... "so what about a latte", "Can we add Carmel to that?" she says "yes, plus add vanilla it'll then resemble a macchiato". I then ask her "how many pumps of syrup is put into the drink?" THIS GIRL SAYS" I CANT TELL YOU"... me I for sure thought she was joking.. her "I'll be giving you the recipe.. in my head YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! In me head I can go into one of the biggest chain coffee houses and know how many pumps or syrup go into a latte! So your syrups are on the counter right? Your pumping flavoring in the darn drink right? But okay, I then say. "Well I'm not huge on sweet drinks so maybe half the sweetener but not so sweet. " After we've been helped. Two ladies came through. One white and one Latino. They received giggles, smiles and well wishes out the door. I'm getting annoyed as the time ticks anyone know me know that I love supporting small local businesses and have a thing for black owned. For us to receive thiS service mad me angry yet confused. Drinks came. My sister drank hers and I tried enjoying the overly sweet latte that came at semi hot temp. Oh wait! The owner walks in.... She wasn't better. She didn't acknowledge her customers as she went to the back. They laughed and joked till we decided to leave. While walking out.... We didn't get any well wishes. My sister turns to say have a good day to the Latino girl who was looking directly at her... nothing. She says again"have a good day" then girl says "ok, thank you" I will never return to this establishment. Being black owned in a minority neighborhood where I was born and raised is unacceptable. I am a business owner as well. Using the term black owned for me means that we will get the same service as our counterparts, no matter what color you are. If you are the owner of this establishment I will suggest that you all should hire outside of the company to enforce customer experience. Good luck to all read more

We visited Black Coffee for the first time a week or so after it's opening. Both my husband and I have worked in the craft coffee industry for several years and we were blown away with how well the shop was put together. We ordered a cortado and a pour-over. The coffee was great! We moved Eastside last year and we love all the small businesses in the area. We had our order taken by the owner and she took some time to talk with us after we had our drinks- and this is why it's important to have small businesses come from within the community! The experience was far more personal and we could tell the owner truly passionate about the shop. Recently we visited the shop again, this time during COVID-19. We found that the shop had a very good setup for social distancing and had some seating available for those who would want to enjoy their coffee outside. It was a bit hot for us that day so we took it to go and enjoyed it in our car. I think Black Coffee is a well thought out, beautiful decorated coffee shop with personable staff. I don't think you can ask much more from a cafe. Most of Fort Worth's individually owned coffee shops are clumped together in a few spots (Southside Mainstreet, TCU area, and a bit downtown). This area was in great need of cafe options and I applaud them for being the only locally owned coffee shop Eastside. And let's address the obvious: Eastside is a predominately minority neighborhood: we need to be spending our money at locally owned shops by community members. Skip the commercial drive-thrus and support an amazing Black-owned business. read more

WOW! I try and make it a point to eat/drink things I have never had or heard of before, so when I saw the honey lavender coffee it piqued my interest. I went in with the mindset that I was not going to like it, but I was won over with that first sip! The floral note from the lavender syrup was surprisingly pleasant. Mixed with the honey took it to a whole other flavor level. The cruffin was delicious. I don't know if it is made in house or shipped in, but you literally taste the butter in that cruchy, flaky dough. I appreciate the fact that the cruffin was evenly and generously coated with cinnamon sugar. I also had the chorizo breakfast taco. Not a fan of breakfast tacos in general, but this was the only meat breakfast item. They also had bacon and potatoe tacos. You can order curbside, inside, or online. I ordered online and went in to pick it up. Very clean and cute on the inside. I will be purchasing coffee and a tumbler from here on my next visit! read more

We were excited to try out this place so we ventured out this Saturday morning. Cute shop and the coffee was great. Unfortunately the young lady taking our order seemed bothered and annoyed with our existence. I asked if she could recommend a drink with caramel, her annoyed response, "Yeah, a caramel latte" Not a very welcoming environment. Maybe we tried them on a bad day, everyone has those, I guess. Just okay. The coffee was nothing special . We went early no one was there. It was clean and spacious. Music blasting. It was way too loud to enjoy your coffee. My mother wanted a croissant which they nuked in the microwave. So not fresh. Barista was not friendly at all . Like she didn't want to be bothered . I won't be back. read more

A locally owned, unique space and a creative coffee menu...get yourself over here. Just across Rosedale from Txwes in a neighborhood that needs these type of amazing spaces. I had the honey lavender oat latte. A complex and flavorful combination. Will definitely be back!! read more

I loved this shop! First things first: the coffee was SO GOOD. I had a honey rose latte with oat milk that was creamy and delicious. The rose syrup was the exact perfect blend of sweet and subtle for the drink. I can't wait to go back and try more (their summer menu looks amazing!). I also had an almond croissant that was super tasty! The chairs and tables were so comfortable for sitting and chatting, and if you wanted a shop to work on your lap top, this would be perfect for it! I also LOVED the artwork in the inside and outside of the building, and I loved how friendly all of the baristas were. Overall I absolutely loved my experience here and if you're looking to find your go to local coffee spot, you should make Black Coffee that place, you won't regret it! read more

A coworker and I had been wanting to try Black Coffee and decided that today would be the day. I ordered a caramel latte and my coworker ordered 2 dirty chai lattes and some type of apple bakery item. We were greeted upon our arrival but in all honesty, it felt forced and not authentic. We were the only people in line and we weren't asked if we had any questions or needed recommendations. I saw the menu on the board near the cash register but didn't realize that there was another that included flavors for the latte. When I asked and expressed that it was our first visit, the cashier just pointed to the smaller specialty menu. Perhaps my expectations are unrealistic due to it being a community coffee shop as opposed to chain coffee brands but I expected a warmer interaction. My caramel latte was lukewarm but tasty. My coworker loved her dirty chai latte but also commented on the cashier not being very friendly. I won't write them off but hope for hot coffee and friendlier engagement on any future visits that I may have. read more

I love everything about this place. The coffee was definitely amazing and I'm pretty sure I'll be back to buy coffee beans. The atmosphere was cozy, I loved the music. MY FAVORITE COFFEE SPOT IN THE DFW! Quality, service, community and coffee separate BC from the rest. BC will definitely see growth given the shop's proximity to local schools, The Boys and Girls Club, churches and businesses along Rosedale St. TWU students/staff are in for a treat considering their only walking distance coffee option has been a subpar Starbucks located on campus. Any of you who've ever dealt with that struggle know it's very real. Expect a bustling shop in the mornings before classes, and in the evenings toward the end of the semester as students prepare for finals. What a great coffee shop! Black coffee is a small shop on the east side right across from Texas Wesleyan. The interior is industrial and relaxed and the coffee is great. I got a vanilla latte and read at the table for a while and it was glorious. The couple across from me even made a point of letting the barista know how wonderful their drinks were. Queue the upbeat dancehall music because this spot just makes me want to dance with joy. It's a perfect little oasis. Plus - it's black owned and I don't know about y'all, but that is *incredibly* rare to find nowadays. I walked in and instantly noticed how open and free the atmosphere felt, and was pleasantly surprised by the little plants that were tucked in corners of the store. I opted for ordering a lavendar honey cold brew and it was refreshing as well. If this spot were closer to home, I'd definitely be a regular, but I'm just glad to have gotten to pop in. Took a short day trip from Dallas to Fort Worth with my girlfriend, and this was our first stop of the day. Heard about it through Yelp, and it did not disappoint. Ordered the Lady Marmalade latte and it was made perfectly. The vibes were perfect for just sitting and relaxing, reading a book, or getting some work done. Would highly recommend. read more

I live in the east side of Fort Worth and I have been driving by this place since it was just a run down building on vaughn. I never took the time to stop by until now and I'm just sorry I didn't stop by sooner. Upon arriving you will note that there is plenty of parking all around the cute odd shape building. On the wall facing Rosedale there is a beautiful mural, perfect for an insta worthy picture. By the entrance there are a couple of yellow patio tables perfect for a casual date or simply enjoying your cup of coffee. When you step in, you are warmly greeted by beautiful decor and a bubbly barista. There is indoor seating as well where you may sit and wait for your coffee, although you won't be waiting long. The menu displayed a simple, yet quality variety of options and by the register you'll find your seasonal options. I decided to look online before my visit and was drawn by the Turmeric Honey Latte. It was not displayed anywhere in the shop but I asked the wonderful barista and she said they had it. I ordered it with coconut milk instead and I must say, it was the best. I paid $6 and change for the larger option. It was a bit pricey considering the size but the drink was worth every cent. The latte was absolutely exquisite. The frothy milk was a sunny yellow as expected from the turmeric and the flavor was simply amazing. When you sip you first get a light taste of turmeric followed by the sweetness of some great quality honey. Overall, I loved every bit of the short experience and so I decided to write this review. Well deserved 10/10. I recommend this place to everyone. Trust me, there's an atmosphere here that Starbucks cannot top. read more

This place is a gem! Honestly, I'm so impressed with Black Coffee. It's more than just a coffee shop - it's a community hub. You can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk in. They're clearly passionate about supporting the neighborhood, and they do it through hosting free events and workshops. Love seeing businesses that give back! I tried the Matcha Chai Latte, and wow, it was delicious. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and the chai spices were such a nice touch. They also have a great pastry selection - not sure if they're made in-house, but they're tasty and pair well with the coffee.
