We visited twice while staying at the best western next door. Very very convenient, however they close at 9. The outside is beautiful and updated, but the inside is outdated. Doesn't really match the vibe. The service was very good and both times, the staff was very nice. I did not care for the food, but my husband liked his. First night I ordered a glass of wine and a baked potato. It was ok. Kinda hard and not much flavor. I could tell it was microwaved. The second day I ordered the small dinner pot roast and potatoes with grave on the side. The dish came with the gravy on it, she offered to have it fixed, but the time it took the food to come out, we didn't have time. The potatoes and green beans were good but the pot roast was terrible. I forgot to take pics of the food. My husband got steak and eggs both times and he enjoyed it. We were visiting from Vegas, so can't say we will be back. read more

My wife and I traveled to Washington, UT to attend the wedding of a close friend. The Black Bear Diner was across from our hotel so we decided to give this location to try. Ambiance is typical for the Black Bear Dinner, cute and fun for kids. I ordered the turkey dinner and my wife ordered the fish and chips. This chain claims to make much of their food from scratch but that doesn't seem to be the case (in my estimation). My soup had no bacon, a few potatoes and very little taste. The cornbread was sweet, but hot and moist. Sliced turkey was moist but very salty. The gravy atop it was jarred and did nothing to hide the turkey's excessive saltiness. It came with mac and cheese that was mostly milk and flour, with very little cheese. The onion rings were good and crisp. My wife's fish was moist if a tad greasy. She requested that her fries be extra crisp. What she got were soft, unseasoned fries that were very unappealing. The side of coleslaw was actually crisp and fresh, quite good. Overall the food was substandard. HOWEVER, the service was Outstanding! Our waitress, Dayna, seemed to be the only person waiting tables during the dinner rush. She patiently took our order, kept our glasses full and got us everything we requested. She worked hard to give a good experience and I hope they appreciate her efforts. We have now tried several locations of this Diner. The locations in Riverton and Sandy were very good. This one was not. We would not recommend this location. read more

Food-the amount of food you get here is a bargain. Not only is it a huge portion but they do NOT sacrifice quality. I had the omelette with a side of french toast and mac and cheese. The mac alone was superb, it tasted fresh as if they just made a batch. The omelette was amazing, packed with mushrooms which i LOVE mushroom but most places skimp. The french toast was thick and fresh-not that yellow fake french toast you get at those low quality diners. Service- Dalton was our server, greeted us with a friendly smile and was very attentive. I had an issue with my avocado not being ripe enough and told her "i dont wanna be that guy" but she said "no, BE that guy" and well she brought me a plate of fresh avocado. Dalton was so friendly i felt like she was a friend of ours and should have been grubbing with us. I had no complaints. Even at checkout, the manager came to help with a lit up smile and friendly voice. Overall every single employee we came into contact with was a 10/10 but Dalton still standing above them all. Thank you Dalton. Ambiance- this is def a family type of diner, Alot of space with big tables to load your whole meal without feeling cramped. Considering outside was over 100 degrees the restaurant was cool and comfortable. If i am ever in the area again I will visit this location again. You cant go wrong here. read more

In the past times I've been here, the service and food was good. However, I was there last night for the All You Can Eat Fish Fry. When we drove up my friend was wondering why the parking lot was almost empty since he always goes to the crowded one in St George. I said it's less crowded and we can get seated quickly, instead of waiting 30 minutes for a table. So that's a plus. We walked inside around 4:45 and were seated right away, I counted less than 10 customer seatings, so the place was pretty much empty - we beat the dinner rush by about 45 minutes. We ordered the Fish Fry - the promo picture showed a light golden brown surface on the fish. However, what we got was overcooked fish with a dark super hard crunchy exterior. The fries were overcooked and hard, as well. My friend couldn't even get through the exterior of his fish and he used his knife and fork to cut it off - he said the St George diner is much better, he's never had an issue there! My servings of fish just trashed the roof of my mouth basically scraping the hell out of it. Was the cook here having an off day? I attempted to use the table bottle of Heinz Ketchup on the fries, but it was super acidic and it actually burned my tongue! Was it rancid or what?? I NEVER had that happen in 60 years of eating any type of ketchup! WOW. The first beverage I received was perfect with easy ice / light ice as I always order. The refill if you can call it that, was a cup full of ice up past the top, with a only a few ounces of watered down lemonade poured in over the ice with all the strawberry pieces on the top. No flavor (only of water) and next to useless. Was that a hint to leave for some reason?? The place was still pretty empty when we left. We both wore nice clean clothes, didn't stink and were dressed better than some of the other customers. I grew up in the 60's with the respect to dress up for dining at a restaurant, though now it's a bit more casual for me. We were polite to our server, she got a good tip. What was her problem? I paid for the meal, my friend paid the tip, even though my refill was unsatisfactory. My friend originally wanted to go the Golden Corral, seems we would have been better off there! From now on, I will only go to the more crowded BBD in St George, even though I live directly between both of them! Sorry I didn't even think to take photos, I usually forget as I get older! We arrived at Black Bear for a dinner meeting and they were pretty slammed. Still, Nancy was so very accommodating, engaging and kind. We were seated and even while our server had a number of large parties, she made us feel like we were her only guests. The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak was something. Great sized portion, with two large sides and couldn't finish it all. On top of that were some of the biggest rolls that made for the full carb overload. These things were massive and amazing. I have never written a review like this, but the experience we had at this restaurant was deeply upsetting and unacceptable. My group and I came in, were seated, and asked for waters. After waiting over 20 minutes, we noticed that the three groups who arrived after us had already been greeted, served drinks, and had their orders taken--while we still had nothing. It wasn't until we made direct eye contact with a server that they finally approached us, and even then, we still had no drinks. Throughout the entire time, the staff's demeanor toward us was dismissive, unprofessional, and downright rude--complete with eye rolls. We could not ignore the fact that every other table that was served ahead of us was non-Hispanic, and the way we were treated made it painfully clear that this was not just bad service--it was discrimination. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or lesser because of their ethnicity. This kind of behavior has no place in any business, especially one that serves the public. We will never return, and I strongly urge others to think twice before supporting an establishment that treats people this way. read more

Food: both of our meat dishes were Meh!! Not great, but not horrible about what I would expect at a Denny's (that's not a compliment). The veggies (broccoli and carrots) were inedible. They looked and smelled like the wilted stuff a store would've tossed a week ago. The baked potatoes were ok. Nothing special. Ambiance: Dumpy and dirty. The restaurant looks neglected. We were seated in a booth. The seats are torn and the springs in the seats are shot. The carpets on the floors are in dire need of cleaning. First time visiting this restaurant 4/24/24, I ordered the cheeseburger w/out cheese salad and ice tea. The portions are huge! My friend had the open face turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, her portion was huge. Lunch was a 5 star. You will not leave hungry for sure. Our server was Ainsley she is a great asset to your establishment. She is very kind and polite and check on us the whole time we were there. The restaurant itself is big and beautiful and very clean. Lots of neat stuff to look at. Update: Dinner Prime Rib 4/26/24 Ok so we went here tonight for the what they call prime rib dinner....4/26/24. There was no price for the prime rib it says to ask. But I didn't. If they were to cut it any thinner it would be see thru! Flavor ok, we got our salad with our meal, the green beans were un edible. My husband asked for medium rare and got really rare steak he ate it because he was hungry but said it was gross. My friend had the prime rib ask for medium rare it came out overcooked. My prime rib was rare but almost see thru. I dint eat but a few bites brought it home for the dog. Service was ok she was friendly. My brother and were driving through Washington, Utah on our way to Southern California and stayed at the Best Western across the street. We arrived close to closing time but we had a welcome greeting by Sydney and served by Megan who was delightful. They both were super friendly and accommodating and were fun talking to. Good service and good food. I had the tri tip sandwich and sweet potato fries both that were fresh and hot. My brother had a Cobb salad that was huge and could have fed 2 people easily. It's convenient to several hotels near by and I'd recommend it to travelers as a play to relax and get a good amount of food for the money. read more

Were going to go to Chipotle across from here, but saw this diner was there so we decided to give it a try. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and clean. We were say right away and tended to almost immediately. Our server, Dalton, was extremely helpful and friendly. Right away jokes around with us lile if we knew each other for a long time. We got our food in about 20 minutes and everything was amazing. Onion rings were very crunchy. Definitely would recommend the Homemade Crispy Onion Chicken Stack was very flavorful. She only checked back when we were halfway through our meal. We were there with kids and by that time we were done. We paid $75 for 4 meals and a kid meal plus some drinks. If the food was good I wouldn't have mind but it was absolutely horrible. The waitress wasn't concerned too much and since she didn't stop by at the beginning of the meal there was not much to do. If you're looking for decent priced all American food that you can take your family too and come away content, this is a great option. It may not be a ma and pops, and it's fairly generic, but I'm a sucker for pancakes and eggs with sausage and muffins. They are always fun and clean and the food portions are fairly sizable. For a bunch of kiddos who are fairly picky, it's a decent spot to bring them. I've always had great interactions with staff. My family is happy to support them. read more

Went for dinner staying at a close hotel. Was pretty inedible. We had the pot roast and the open faced turkey "sandwich". Pot roast was dry and had little flavor. Broccoli was the best part..which I ate most of. I had the turkey. Was layers of deli meat. Dry, preformed...not good. Gravy was from a mix. Mashed potatoes were ok....hard to mess those up. We visited Monday 8/19/24. The staff was friendly but the wait time was beyond unreasonable. We were seated immediately but it was at least a half hour before anyone came to our table. One party left before a member of the staff took their orders. We were on the verge of leaving but the waiter finally took our order. Our drinks took forever to arrive and our food was also slow, incorrect and one of our party waited about five additional minutes for their food to arrive. Being polite, we waited until all of the food arrived and our food was no longer hot. It was between six and seven pm. The place was relatively clean except the women's handicap stall. We were very disappointed. We know the kids working the place aren't responsible for staffing it but someone needed to have adequate staff to serve six or seven tables. read more

We were promptly seated and was told Megan would be our waitress. She came over sat down and took our order. My husband ordered Denver omelet with sourdough toast, I ordered a western burger. She left and came back with the toast and pointed to the corner of our long booth and said, there's the butter. She started to walk away, then turned and asked if we wanted her to reach for the butter, I said yes. we buttered the toast while it was hot. Then sat and waited. The omelet sat on the ledge for a while, then the burger finally was out on the ledge. When we finally got our meal, toast was cold, omelet warm and hamburger warm. I was not impressed. When she brought my husband another drink, she made a comment about how much catsup he was using, and when I was done she brought the check and made a comment about me finishing my burger, said boy you must have been hungry. I ordered the burger with coleslaw, now I'm feeling like she was judging me! I've never written a bad review until today. While waiting for our food, a young girl from the kitchen was by the beverages, she put her middle finger up to one of the waitresses, and held it up all the way back to the kitchen.
