The service is always great! We went with my mother in Law. We all like this place. And the food. They sat us right away and they took our drinks order. We got coffee, strawberry lemonade, and fountain drink. When the drinks arrived they took the food order. It was an open face turkey sandwich, a Bacon Cheddar Burger, and avocado toast. My mother in law opted for dessert only so she had a banana cream pie. The food came out in a very decent time. We were chatting so we felt that it came pretty quick. The Burger was crispy and juicy. With the fries it was very filling. The turkey sandwich was so good. My husband loves it. He order the same thing every time we come. He mentions the turkey tastes freshly made. The avocado toast was very yummy. I added the sauce they have. They have different spicy leves so they called it baby bear for the mild momma bear for the middle spicy and the papa bear for the very spicy one. I love that one. It has some seasoning that makes it even better. The coffee it's always freshly brewed. My daughter loves the strawberry Lemonade they add some fresh strawberries. The ambiance it's very familiar. So we have ordered the full turkey dinner for a large group in the past and it was delicious. This year it was just my husband, my daughter and myself so we ordered three individual dinners expecting the same quality. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! They smothered our mashed potatoes and school cafeteria grade turkey in gravy after we requested it be placed on the side. The salad was old and disgusting. We were so disappointed! Went on a Sunday; after the church crowd. Not many tables ; maybe six sat at; others available; however made us wait 5-10 minutes to be sat. Service was good; drinks always filled. The newspaper menus are pretty cool. I went with the breakfast club melt with potatoes; loaded with meats; ham; bacon; egg and cheeses; grilled on sourdough Parmesan bread. Very filling! One of the better Black Bears we have tried in our travels. The servers were pleasant, the service was pretty quick, and the food was quite good. Our entire party was very well pleased. We met some friends who live in the area after driving in from Klamath Falls so good service and good food was very welcome. Our drinks barely got refilled Then on top of that after this horrible service we get our bill and because we had our grandkids with us we were considered a large party (6 of us) and so they added automatic gratuity to our bill. I brought my three nieces for lunch and since they're little I had to leave the table with them to take the to the restaurant and I'm not leaving my purse. This used to be a go to spot for my family. Not sure what changed but they never have enough staff, sometimes the staff is very rude & the good often comes out on the luke warm side. There's a nice old lodge feel but the food taste has gone down hill, last time I enjoyed a meal here was in 2019 with good tasting food. The last time that I went here, I ordered a full-size salad, which was huge and very fresh and then I also got a hamburger and some fries. The hamburger was huge also and cooked pretty well. Everything was hot and my son got a side of scrambled eggs that was hot and a huge portion as well service was very hometown friendly, and when I had mentioned that it was hot in there, they had turned the air down and it was very comfortable after that. I also bought three personal pies that were all delicious and fresh that lasted about four days in the fridge. Maybe been to this location once the whole time I've lived here in Tulare County. This week we went twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Shared a California burger for dinner with fries and side salad. They let you order the cooking temperature how you like it, which is nice. Very nicely prepared and service was pretty good. For breakfast I was craving a waffle so we split a big papa breakfast with a waffle, eggs bacon and a chicken sausage. The waffle wasn't made with waffle batter but more like a pancake batter. Wasn't my favorite because I hate pancakes but still pretty good nonetheless. Everything else was cooked decently and service even though it was busy was exceptional. Thai review is for our to go order we placed. My daughter and I love the chicken apple sausage scramble. However, I noticed it's no longer on the menu. Such a stab in the heart! I wanted to get this for my daughter as it's her fav and she has a big competition today. So I tried calling to see if they could make it. I think I called 8 times since no answer (they were busy). The sweet person on the phone was able to ask the chef and he knew the scramble and was able to make it. It made our day! However, the downside is once we got back to the hotel we noticed we had no butter or jam for the toast and the toast was dry . The hotel didn't have any either so she wasn't able to eat it.
