The only thing more overrated than this restaurant, are the pies everyone keeps pretending are good. My apple pie and the lemon meringue pie the person with me ordered, tasted like something from a gas station display case - bad crust and awful flavor. Neither of us could finish them. The food was bland and the low-quality ingredients were noticeable right away. Some dishes arrived on plastic plates and others on stoneware, creating an odd and inconsistent presentation. This place survives because it's in a tiny town with limited choices - not because the food deserves praise. And after reviewing the restaurant's track record of negative findings from health inspectors overtime, this only adds to our overall dissatisfaction. read more

Whitlee is still Amazing! The service and food are top notch! I had The Mary's Mess which is not on the menu. OMG the Mary's Mess is out of this world delicious! My wife and father in law had the BLT Sandwich and Corn Chowder Soup. My mother in law had a ham and cheddar sandwich with corn chowder soup. We all had ice water and I had strawberry lemonade. My father in law had ice tea. Everyone loved the atmosphere, service and most of all the food. This is my favorite breakfast place in the valley! read more

We love coming to this place food is always great and service normally is great too but unfortunately tonight service was very sad it seemed as if we were getting avoided not sure why, sat for 10+ mins without a refill unfortunately they didn't seem to busy we had to ask another staff member to even get our check after waiting longer and somehow after asking for our check a table that came in after us was given their check before us. I went here while in town for my son's Dr appt. We decided to stop at Apple Annie's. I ordered the club sandwich, no tomatoes with French fries. My son ordered a basket of boneless wings and fries and it came with coleslaw, but he didn't eat that because he doesn't like coleslaw. My sandwich was good, service was good too, the vibe there was really quiet which was great I don't like loud places. The best part of my visit there was overhearing the waitress tell an elderly man near us, that his bill was paid by another patron. It was so sweet to hear the man say how thankful he was about it. I ordered the apple pie to go they asked if I wanted it warmed up I said yes. When we got home the apple pie looked sad. It came with a sauce to drizzle over it I was disappointed it didn't come with a scoop of ice cream. read more

Won't be the first or the last time as a minority treated with racism at a restaurant. Everyone dining in today 06/28/25 was the same color as my MIL, the server skinny white chic kept checking on all the tables around us but skipping us every single time. She would not make eye contact or check in on us. Food was okay and I probably would have come back again, the owners look Mexican which look like nice people as I saw them interact with several customers, but their employee totally ignored us our whole time dining in. There was also another girl waiting on us, she looked Hispanic w black hair and she went MIA after she brought our food to us. The restaurant looks like an old school diner, my MIL had mentioned she visited frequently in the 70s. We lived in Tulare county for a while and would visit Tulare/Visalia area a lot but never visited Apple Annie's. This was my first and last time coming. 90% of the time I would rather eat at home, but if we're in the mood we like to check out places we haven't visited. Today was super unfortunate and I haven't felt this kind of racism in a long time, but I do know it's not the last time either, I almost brought my 81yr old mom with us too, I'm glad she didn't come. If you have never visited, you're not missing out, just go to IHOP or Denny's. I would not recommend this restaurant to any minority. Even my husband who is half white felt it and my son who's 1/4 white also felt it. read more

Apple Annie's is one of our go to places when we're traveling. They serve comfort food, traditional dinner items, and a little variety of Mexican food. There's always someone friendly and warm to greet you and to take your order. We haven't had a bad meal in all the times we've stopped there over the years. This day we ordered the French burger, one of the daily specials, to the eye, it seemed kinda small probably because it was cut in half. The patty was cooked just right the only thing was it kept sliding out of the bread. The decor is definitely a collectors and kids paradise with so many fun things to look at. You definitely want to leave room for a piece of pie or take a slice to go. The place can be a little chilly so be sure to cover up a bit if you tend to be cold. read more

Apple Annie's is a must stop place to eat along hwy 99 in Tulare. This restaurant is so cute. We love driving the extra hour every so often to eat there. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is always great. The service is outstanding. And something you hardly see is the manager walking around helping out where needed because they are so busy. From busting a table to serving a table with a smile. Everyone is always friendly. The heaping over the plate. Your never gets empty and every employee asks you "how are you? Can I get you anything"? I've promised myself to stop here for years and I finally did on a trip to Visalia. The decor is severely dated and the chairs are almost all wobbly and cracked but the food is amazing. All three of us ordered burgers and they were juicy and perfectly cooked. The onion rings were pretty good. I wasn't blown away but they were crunchy and fresh. We ordered desert and everyone really enjoyed it. Mom got a lemon merengue pie, dad got a slice of apple pie with ice cream and my best friend and I split the apple pie burrito. My only critique on the burrito is that it wasn't fried long enough to really be crispy. The filling was superb but the tortilla was very tough and hard to cut. My 5 rating is for what this is - an old fashioned family restaurant. If you're looking for an upscale experience, go somewhere else, but this is homestyle food like you used to get. The menu has a fair amount of variety, from breakfast to dinner. I had the grilled chicken taco salad. It was very good, but be forewarned if that's something you might be interested in - there are three different items on the menu that are all similar, and both we and our server all had a little confusion. Apple Annie's has a vintage ambiance. There's a couple life size dolls standing around to greet you. They serve both American and Mexican dishes along with a variety of apple desserts. The lunch hour was pretty busy, so the wait time was to be expected. I ordered the chicken marsala along with a side salad. It was cooked perfectly! The mushrooms were soft and thin while the chicken was tender and juicy. I didn't have any room for dessert because my meal was so filling. Apple Annie's is a long time restaurant in my hometown. Apple Annies is favorite of locals and convenient for travelers staying at local hotels. We came for breakfast at the request of a family member and I wasn't sure what to expect since I probably hadn't been there for probably 40 years. All I know is that the parking lot is always full every day of the week. The restaurant is clean and in great condition for its age. I decided on the New York Steak and Eggs for my breakfast. Our server was very helpful and patient with our elderly mother. The five meals were served quickly, hot and lacking any sort of flavor. The steaks were tough and the coffee was weak. I finally tried this restaurant after working in the area several years in a row. Complete letdown. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. It was an unseasoned chicken breast with a ham slice and cheese slice on top with some weird hollandaise sauce. Bland rice pilaf. The string beans were actually good with nice flavor which is why I'm leaving 2 stars instead of one. The price for a meal where the only thing I could eat were the string beans? Almost $30!!!! The place was full of kitschy vintage memorabilia and a cute motorized train that went around the restaurant. We split the fried chicken meal because we knew it would be a huge portion. We were right. The fried chicken isn't what you'd expect. It's better than you can ever imagine. It was a flattened chicken breast that was breaded and fried served with a thick yummy chicken country gravy and mashed potatoes. Wow! We were thinking about how we were so glad we saw the sign and decided to eat there. This will def be a stop for us on our way up north for future trips. The coffee wasn't great. Most places have bad coffee but it's because they skimp on the grounds. Please don't cheat on the grounds. Coffee is best when it's nice and rich with flavor. We love to stop here for breakfast or lunch on the way to Yosemite or Sequoia. The food is always tasty, the service friendly and the place is fun and quirky. It brings a smile to our faces every time. It's pretty cool that a little restaurant can create such fond memories.
