The only thing more overrated than this restaurant, are the pies everyone keeps pretending are good. My apple pie and the lemon meringue pie the person with me ordered, tasted like something from a gas station display case - bad crust and awful flavor. Neither of us could finish them. The food was bland and the low-quality ingredients were noticeable right away. Some dishes arrived on plastic plates and others on stoneware, creating an odd and inconsistent presentation. This place survives because it's in a tiny town with limited choices - not because the food deserves praise. And after reviewing the restaurant's track record of negative findings from health inspectors overtime, this only adds to our overall dissatisfaction. read more

Apple Annies is a Tulare Staple. It's like a country store meets a diner. Big menu, lots to choose from. However the food is okay, quality could be kicked up five notches . Ordered a melt sandwich, kind of weird it had American cheese on it, usually it has Swiss or provolone and the meat isn't so dry. The meatloaf, was flavorless. Needed a binding agent to hold it together a little better. Reminded me of canned meat. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was good. The French toast topped with apples was honestly the star. Won't be the first or the last time as a minority treated with racism at a restaurant. Everyone dining in today 06/28/25 was the same color as my MIL, the server skinny white chic kept checking on all the tables around us but skipping us every single time. She would not make eye contact or check in on us. Food was okay and I probably would have come back again, the owners look Mexican which look like nice people as I saw them interact with several customers, but their employee totally ignored us our whole time dining in. There was also another girl waiting on us, she looked Hispanic w black hair and she went MIA after she brought our food to us. The restaurant looks like an old school diner, my MIL had mentioned she visited frequently in the 70s. We lived in Tulare county for a while and would visit Tulare/Visalia area a lot but never visited Apple Annie's. This was my first and last time coming. 90% of the time I would rather eat at home, but if we're in the mood we like to check out places we haven't visited. Today was super unfortunate and I haven't felt this kind of racism in a long time, but I do know it's not the last time either, I almost brought my 81yr old mom with us too, I'm glad she didn't come. If you have never visited, you're not missing out, just go to IHOP or Denny's. I would not recommend this restaurant to any minority. I notified a male staff member he stated okay.. mind you he never apologized or anything and walked away. I then told the waitress she picked up the plate and I was like oh I see it then took the plate and walked away. Again she didn't apologize neither. I've driven past this establishment for years, and saw the signs on the freeway many times, but only recently was I finally able to enjoy the fare from this old-fashioned country diner, that really has a pleasant atmosphere. Decent parking (just be prepared for traffic on the street being a bit challenging when leaving) and good seating, all with a positive interior design that reflects the theme. I enjoyed a chili cheese omelette with home friends and two large biscuits. The dessert of a signature apple dumpling really lived up to a good reputation per the restaurant's specialty. Hot and fresh, with a cool blend of vanilla ice cream to give the best of both worlds. Thank you to the chefs for an excellent service, to the waiters and staff for their own diligence and attention. The workers were all amazing and friendly and smiling well they were working which only means management is doing something right. My wife and father in law had the BLT Sandwich and Corn Chowder Soup. My mother in law had a ham and cheddar sandwich with corn chowder soup. We all had ice water and I had strawberry lemonade. Apple Annie's is one of our go to places when we're traveling. They serve comfort food, traditional dinner items, and a little variety of Mexican food. There's always someone friendly and warm to greet you and to take your order. We haven't had a bad meal in all the times we've stopped there over the years. This day we ordered the French burger, one of the daily specials, to the eye, it seemed kinda small probably because it was cut in half. The patty was cooked just right the only thing was it kept sliding out of the bread. The decor is definitely a collectors and kids paradise with so many fun things to look at. I've promised myself to stop here for years and I finally did on a trip to Visalia. The decor is severely dated and the chairs are almost all wobbly and cracked but the food is amazing. All three of us ordered burgers and they were juicy and perfectly cooked. The onion rings were pretty good. I wasn't blown away but they were crunchy and fresh. We ordered desert and everyone really enjoyed it. Mom got a lemon merengue pie, dad got a slice of apple pie with ice cream and my best friend and I split the apple pie burrito. My only critique on the burrito is that it wasn't fried long enough to really be crispy. The filling was superb but the tortilla was very tough and hard to cut. For Breakfast you can't go wrong. Many Omelette options. Home fries or Hash browns. The Value breakfast is really great for the price. With 2,Eggs any style, 2 Sausage links or 2 strips of bacon, Hash-browns & two pancakes. It's one of my go to's for breakfast . Good Burgers and Fries. A long list of Sandwiches. Plenty of options. I'm an Uber driver based in Visalia but I've been all over Tulare county. I've driven by Apple Annie's lots of times and thought "I gotta try that place". Today was the day! (finally). My wife and I were in Tulare to pick up a piece of furniture she bought on marketplace and she decided we should get a bite to eat in Tulare before heading back to Visalia. I've got just the place! We were greeted and seated promptly in the cozy dining area. It has an old school diner vibe that I enjoy. The menu had all the American diner favorites and an assortment of house specialties. The wife had a BLT with fries and I had the Monster Burger with fries. The burger features bacon, cheese, a whole half of avocado and an onion ring as well as fresh lettuce, tomato and a dill pickle slice. The food was delicious and priced very reasonably. The wait staff were all friendly and there seemed to be many regular customers which is always a good sign. I'm looking forward to returning for breakfast and a slice of the house made apple pie ! read more

Apple Annie's is a must stop place to eat along hwy 99 in Tulare. This restaurant is so cute. We love driving the extra hour every so often to eat there. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is always great. The service is outstanding. And something you hardly see is the manager walking around helping out where needed because they are so busy. From busting a table to serving a table with a smile. Everyone is always friendly. The heaping over the plate. Your never gets empty and every employee asks you "how are you? Can I get you anything"? I went here while in town for my son's Dr appt. We decided to stop at Apple Annie's. I ordered the club sandwich, no tomatoes with French fries. My son ordered a basket of boneless wings and fries and it came with coleslaw, but he didn't eat that because he doesn't like coleslaw. My sandwich was good, service was good too, the vibe there was really quiet which was great I don't like loud places. The best part of my visit there was overhearing the waitress tell an elderly man near us, that his bill was paid by another patron. It was so sweet to hear the man say how thankful he was about it. I ordered the apple pie to go they asked if I wanted it warmed up I said yes. When we got home the apple pie looked sad. It came with a sauce to drizzle over it I was disappointed it didn't come with a scoop of ice cream. read more

My 5 rating is for what this is - an old fashioned family restaurant. If you're looking for an upscale experience, go somewhere else, but this is homestyle food like you used to get. The menu has a fair amount of variety, from breakfast to dinner. I had the grilled chicken taco salad. It was very good, but be forewarned if that's something you might be interested in - there are three different items on the menu that are all similar, and both we and our server all had a little confusion. Apple Annie's has a vintage ambiance. There's a couple life size dolls standing around to greet you. They serve both American and Mexican dishes along with a variety of apple desserts. The lunch hour was pretty busy, so the wait time was to be expected. I ordered the chicken marsala along with a side salad. It was cooked perfectly! The mushrooms were soft and thin while the chicken was tender and juicy. I didn't have any room for dessert because my meal was so filling. My food was an embarrassment to your restaurant. I ordered a Philly Cheese steak which was said to be Ribeye. I got a few shreds of some sort of meat with veggies on dinner size roll​. All in all it was as small as a kids meal burger at Burger King but costs me more than $20. That unfortunately included a tip for sub par service. read more

We came for breakfast at the request of a family member and I wasn't sure what to expect since I probably hadn't been there for probably 40 years. All I know is that the parking lot is always full every day of the week. The restaurant is clean and in great condition for its age. I decided on the New York Steak and Eggs for my breakfast. Our server was very helpful and patient with our elderly mother. The five meals were served quickly, hot and lacking any sort of flavor. The steaks were tough and the coffee was weak. I probably should have stayed with a breakfast entree. Overall, I enjoyed myself with the fam and the exceptional service. Three Stars for lack of flavor. read more

I Normally go for Breakfast and I Rate it at a 10 being the Best the Pancakes and Waffle are one of the Best but the Omelettes are Outstanding.
