This is the biggest secret in Hanford. This restaurant feels like home cooking, and the food reflects that only better. Ambiance is great, not fancy but homey. It doesn't get more local and country than this! Where else can you have the restaurant in the same building as an indoor live cattle auction house arena. You can literally hear the livestock inside the restaurant and around the building. After eating we took a few steps outside the front door and up the stairs and watched a few cows being auctioned off. Fun! Great service and food. Large proportions. Many local farming/ranching regulars. While we were seated one guy came in to pick up some rabbit, and another some Cornish game hen. I got their feature Burger which was huge and the wife got a BLT which was loaded with bacon. They apparently also just started offering lunch platters so ask about those! read more

We were in Hanford for a baseball tournament and needed a quick breakfast before a game. I looked through these reviews and pictures and everything looked amazing. We only had about an hour so I was worried it might be busy but when I pulled up the address I thought I might be in the wrong place. It is definitely a locals spot, when we walked inside it was tucked in the corner and completely empty. The waitress was so sweet and sat me and my son down with menus. He ordered the breakfast burrito, since he had a game he didn't want anything to filling. I ordered the bacon and eggs with biscuits and gravy. When his burrito came out covered in chili beans it was not what he expected but he was very happy. He loved it. My biscuit was delicious and homemade for sure. The bacon was so good. He only ate about half of his burrito and he was bummed he couldn't take it since we were headed to a baseball game and had no where to keep it, but she offered to wrap it up and then put it in another bag with ice so we could pack it up in our cooler. I really appreciated the fact that she wanted to make it easy for him to take his leftovers. It kept well and he ate it the next morning after a warm up in the air fryer. I think this cafe is only open a few days a week but if you are in the area it is most definitely worth a try. The food was fresh and tasted like you were home in someone's kitchen. With a five star average, there's not much I can say except that if you want to get away from the hustle bustle of fast food Hanford, the Overland Cafe is a wonderful place to do it. Nice small café with good hometown people cooking and serving, cattleman sitting around a table discussing business, Folks, this is where some of our agricultural lifestyle is being made and delivered while you eat. Cowboys coming in and out while delivering or picking up livestock, and the sound of the live auction going on in the background is a wonderful difference to the regular sounds experienced in most breakfast/lunch places in our area. Service is a mite slow if you're in a hurry, but you gotta stop and smell the roses once in awhile. Food is good. Not world class, but good. If you like burgers the Cowboy or Cowgirl (with or without jalapeños) should be your choice. I do want my next breakfast meeting there, as mornings may be a little more alive with the living ambiance you get at lunchtime. Everyone needs to visit this place at least once for themselves as I'm sure most of those around here have never experienced what they offer besides food. This gem did not disappoint. I knew it would be good because I remember their restaurant " The broken Bit" which was phenomenal. Very friendly staff and excellent portion sizes. Plenty of seating inside and clean. I got the chicken fried steak w/ country potatoes and toast as well as egg whites. The gravy on the steak was delicious, not salty and the meat was tender. The potatoes were fried very well and still fork tender which is what I like. Plenty of parking and friendly patrons. I will definitely be back to try their lunch menu. read more

Tried the Overland Cafe yesterday for lunch and it was great! The Overland is a throwback to old school diners. In this case, it's where the local ranchers/farmers come for a cup of joe and some grub. However, the grub here is definitely a step up! I had a BLT that was piled with juicy bacon and a cup of tomato soup so thick it was a meal in itself! My wife had a tasty burger and the fries that came with it had a dash of seasoning that gave them a subtle zing. The owner and waitress were both as sweet as could be. The place itself is no-frills and a bit rustic. It's just an honest diner. People have wondered if the Overland is exclusively for the use of the ranchers and farmers, as that's what makes up most of their patrons (Seriously, if you're not wearing a trucker cap or a cowboy hat, you stand out,) but rest assured the cafe is open to everyone. We were told that Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to go, because (I believe) they don't have auctions and business is slow those days. NOTE: There's no sign that I saw outside pointing towards the cafe. Just enter the main doors next to the giant cowboy statues and once inside bang a left and there's the cafe. read more

The food is very good but I have to take a star away because the coffee is pretty bad and they don't have real creamer. If you order a milk or an orange juice be prepared to get a solid quart of each. It's a legit portion. Kinda funny when they brought it for my 4 year old. Wow. Eating the food here takes me back to my childhood when the hamburgers were hand made right before they were put on the grill.
