I had such a great experience at Fugazzis that I had to come on here and say something because wow. First off, let me just say... I didn't include a picture because I completely inhaled my food . By the time I thought about taking one, the plate was already gone. That alone should tell you everything you need to know. I ordered one of their pasta dishes (you really can't go wrong), and it was fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot in a way that made me pause mid-bite like "okay wait... this is REALLY good." Portions were perfect too. Now for my favorite part the drinks. I don't drink alcohol, but Alexis the bartender absolutely understood the assignment. She made me a spicy cucumber mocktail that was hands down one of the best drinks I've had. Refreshing with just the right kick 10/10. Service was just as good as the food. Aaron was my server and made everything easy and comfortable, checking in without overdoing it. You can tell the staff actually cares. I also want to shout out Ray and Cynthia from management, they helped create an overall welcoming vibe that you don't always get everywhere. I really wanted to give them 5 stars, however, food fell short this time around. We had lunch here and the restaurant was pretty empty at 1:30 on a Monday. The complimentary bread was hard, possibly old bread and their signature dipping sauce was so cold (normally served really warm). I again ordered the Chicken Piccata. The noodles were all stuck together, requiring me to use a knife to cut them. Everything else was good. My salad a a few pieces of wilted greens, which I picked out. The others in my party said their food was ok. We ordered the Truffle Fries for our appetizer. The fries were piping hot and flavorful. Service was ok, she was efficient and got our orders correct. I'm not from Tulare and was passing through yesterday (9/15/26). I've eaten at this Tulare Fugazzis once before years ago, it was so long ago I can't remember what I had or the restaurant experience, so my daughter and I decided to eat here again before heading back home. I didn't think you could go wrong with choosing an Italian restaurant but apparently you can.... We started off with a Caesar Salad for me and the daughter had the House Salad -- it was just salad and nothing special. For the entree, I ordered the Fettuccine and Spinach which included sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and feta cheese in a creamy red bell pepper sauce and I added the blackened chicken. The daughter had the Beef Stroganoff. I'll just cut to the chase here and say that my pasta dish, if not the worst, it was one of the worst pasta dishes I've ever had. Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen, but the red bell pepper sauce was absolutely bland and favorless and the kitchen forgot to add the chicken. The waiter said he can get me the chicken, and I told him not to bother but just don't charge me extra for it (he took the additional price off the bill). I tried my daughter's Beef Stroganoff and it was unremarkable as well. Dinner was a complete bust for me (the daughter felt her dish was "okay"). The restaurant was crowded on a Tuesday night so I'm sure there are items on the menu that are really good -- mine just wasn't one of them. Honestly this place has delicious food and a great ambiance and plenty of parking. Food is hot and tasty. Ambiance is casual and cozy. However the service is lacking a lot. Felt bad our server was also the bartender and also had customers both at tables and at the bar and there was another server in the dining room and a cook in the back. The manager or I'm assuming he was the manager was just sitting at the front desk putting together a Christmas tree. Really thought he could have been on the floor helping the staff. He finally did but it took awhile ; after he was done putting together his decorations. I almost wanted to jump behind the bar and help out the girl. We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer took over an hour; I believe about an hour and 15 minutes ; ridiculous. No apology ; nothing . Not sure if it was the waitress fault and she didn't put them in or the cook forgot to make them . But it was too long ! Drink refills took too long . Everything just took forever long. We wanted the bacon wrapped scallops; they were out of scallops. Not surprising. But yet they charged us $18.99 for them. Hmmm. Had to have that taken off the bill. What was supposed to be a happy evening for happy hour and dinner; turned out to take up the entire evening just waiting . Frustrating . There were points where we just wanted to get up and walk out ; because service was so slow. We ordered take-out this evening, July 2, 2026. I ordered the large filet to be cooked medium rare and a baked potato. The steak was medium well to well done, not medium rare. The doneness of the most tender piece of beef made it tough, and flavorless, like a piece of cardboard. The cook cooked the steak until it was dry! The potato was over cooked as well and had bad spots in it. Fugazzi's used to be a favorite restaurant over the years but as of late the quality of the food has slipped beyond the recognition of the years past. Upon arriving, we were set quickly, and when the waitress finally came around and realized, as we said, we're not ready to order because we didn't get a menu. We got menus ordered and was served within a prompt amount of time, however, after that, the service really declined rapidly and there wasn't that many diners at that time. I consumed one adult beverage and waited and waited and waited to order another as I was not asked, or given the opportunity to order another until I finally saw her and said excuse me I would like another drink, please. Blown away with how bad this was, which i think is quite the art. I basically had to move plates out of the way myself because the waitresses couldn't find it in themselves to do it in the ONE HOUR i waited for my plate. The food BLEW ME AWAY! How can something take this long to make and be so mediocre, i cant say i know! In fact, how is it that the pesto pasta has a green color but tastes entirely like unsalted cream. Again, the waitresses were no where to be found to at least throw a ton of salt and maybe a lemon in it. I DO wish this on my worst enemy, but that is because i am vengeful and i think the suffering one does at this establishment is quite unique and hellish. COVID-19 phase: I called in to order and the worker was very nice. He said they did not what I wanted that I saw on the menu. Eggplant Verona sandwich. He said the menu needs to be updated. Instead I ordered the Portabella Mushroom sandwich with no mayo and a grilled chicken added. You get a choice of fries or salad and I chose salad with Italian dressing on the side. He said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to go get the order and the worker was masked and very kind. I paid for the order and waited just a few minutes and the order was given to me. If you all haven't noticed I am a huge Fugazzi's fan and this is the last one that is in my area and it didn't let me down. The Portabella mushroom sandwich with chicken added was amazingly delicious! Wow! The mushroom with the avocado and chicken with the Foccacia bread made that sandwich the best! They have had many great sandwiches, but this one wins over all of them! So good! It didn't even need the pesto or mayo. The side salad was fresh and very delicious too! The service was great, but the food was HORRIBLE! We ordered spaghetti and meatballs - extremly over seasoned with so much garlic that it was inedible. The beef stroganoff came out with a red sauce - this came to a surprise to my husband as you don't typically make beef stroganoff with a red sauce. We checked the menu, the description describes the beef stroganoff we were expecting, with no mention of red sauce. We questioned the staff and they told us that there's always red sauce in the dish, it's been that way for years.... maybe they should mention that ingredient in their menu. By the way, this dish tasted poorly also. We were told the chef's are not new, they've worked for Fugazzi's for quite a while. Celebrating my M.I.L.'s 91st birthday. Should have been a great night but let me start by saying that the food and service was (negative 5) and here's why. Sat at a table with view of kitchen. Watched our food sit under the heat lamp for 20+ minutes. And then it comes to the table and it's luke warm. The salad was wilted from baking in the artificial light. The marinara on the ravioli was crusty. The chowder was cold. Complained to manager. Then the waiter never came back to the table. We were there 2.5 hours. Only saving grace was that Elizabeth covered the tab for the meal. And she went to the store and bought a Red Velvet cake and flowers for her and presented it to her at the table.
