We went on a holiday.There was no wait.All staff were courteous and efficient. Food was very very good. My son forgot his braces. I called that evening and the Manager was very helpful and mailed it to us without any hesitation.She did not even accept my offer to cover postage. Well we've been on the road for 6 straight hours. Hungry and we decided to co ti ur just 11 miles further up north because we see on Yelp that there is a Black Bear Diner. Hubby is 6'8" tall, and has a big appetite. And this is the place to feed him great food. Cheese burger, fries, and a vanilla shake. I got a salad and a Ruben. Perfect. And the waitress awesome. Oh my....!!! After the Jack hammering finally ended we had waited 45 minutes for uncooked pancakes, a cold French dip and under cooked poached eggs and sausage. The wait staff was very apologetic but it did not fix the nasty meal. We will give BB Diner a break from our business. read more

bears everywhere! this is a cute, old school diner and has an extensive menu, which is nice. I decided to get the 12-grain (I think it was 12) pancakes and they were delicious. The platters are huge so you could share. The prices seem a little high but it's like that all over California from what I've experienced. I was pretty much unimpressed. I had been camping at lake Shasta and I woke up hung over and was ready for real food. Some friends recomended this place and said it was awesome. I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. We walked in and it was busy, but there was no wait. So we were seated and shortly after our server came. He was nice but not overally helpful or warm. He recomended the eggs benedict which is generally my favorite. It was gross! The portions were HUGE so I wish I would have enjoyed it, but I honestly would rather go to Denny's across the street, and I never thought I would say that. We popped in on the drive north to Oregon for a quick bite at Black Bear Diner. Table for two: seated right away (it was almost 7:00 PM). Table service was efficient and friendly, the food came out within just a few minutes of placing our orders. The omelets were tasty, though I would probably not recommend the hash browns, but I admit to being particular about my hash browns. Overall; I would call it a success! read more

At first, we were told it could be a 15 minute wait but about 45 seconds later we were seated. I did not know if I could have Chicken and Waffles for breakfast even though it was on the Dinner menu. Worst service ever!!! I usually love Black Bear Diners, but this one is not up to par with the others. Stopped for a "quick" lunch stop on the way from WA to So CA. First I noticed that the carpet was dirty and probably needs replacing and it isn't the nicest smelling place, but the worst part was the service. It took awhile for "Brittany" to get our drink order, then when our food was ready, I watched it sitting under the heat lamps for several minutes until she got around to bring it to our table. She was too busy chatting and socializing to deliver it when it was ready. Then I asked for mustard and she stopped to do a few other tasks before bringing it. The real kicker was when we asked for the check and she proceeded to fill waters, start a pot of coffee, and chat with a couple of guys at the counter. We finally got up and went to the cashier to get our check and a to-go cup for my iced tea. I am okay with friendly servers, but they can't let their socializing get in the way of good customer service. I will not be returning to this location. I'm only giving this place a one because I can't give a zero. My family and I stopped here on out drive up to Washington looking for some good food. The servers were ok. Not horrid but definitely not amazing. The food however was ABSOLUTELY gross. I ordered a steak medium rare. It came really well done and was super salty. The mashed potatoes were also salty and pretty gross. The veggies were bland. My mother in law and sister both ordered the patty melt. When they arrived, my sisters melt was missing a patty on one side and both were greasy tasteless masses on some sad looking bread. The fries also were sad limp little spuds that didn't even taste better with ketchup. None of us even got halfway through our meal before leaving without taking our leftovers. If you are thinking of stopping here...don't. You are better off going to jack in the box. The food there at least is edible. read more

Gross! Went in for breakfast on a Saturday and it was very busy as to be expected. I decided to go with the corned beef hash and my boyfriend went with an omelet. When my order came it was just a pile of corned beef with a side of hash browns. Usually a hash consists mixture of onions, peppers, potatoes, and corned beef. Even the hash browns were bad, no flavor and undercooked. My boyfriends omelet was average but nothing special. We had to ask for water 3 times and my orange juice was warm, very warm. Every set of our silverware at our table had at least 1 piece of noticeably dirty silverware. My orange juice glass had lipstick all around the rim. I love this place, I always get an omelette in the morning with garlic, Cilantro, onion, spinach, mushroom, and Swiss cheese! It is excellent every single time however my only critique would be that the potatoes are often burnt and rather flavorless but I do enjoy drenching my whole plate and the crazy cause hot sauce. I'm really glad that this place is going nationwide although I am a bit concerned about the quality being diminished. I wish the best to this business and I will continue to be a customer as long as the food is great! read more
