    No door on stall

One of us ordered the Taco Salad which comes with your choice of ground beef, grilled or fried chicken. They have a fish and chips plate that's all you can eat for $14.99 if you order frozen fish. For $1 more you get fresh fish but just 1 plate. I opted for the fresh. That did seem strange to me. The door was missing from a stall in the ladies room. The water had a strange taste I sent the fish back and got some that was still over done. I think that even though I paid a dollar extra for fresh fish it was actually frozen. Why else would it be so overcooked. The hush puppies were delicious. Taco salad was fair.

Went to this location for dinner while we're in town, we were seated promptly and asked for drinks. The host brought us drinks and told us our server would be over soon. We needed a little time to check out the menu, our waitress came over and introduced herself to us. She was very friendly and polite. The restaurant wasn't too full when we arrived but quite a few more tables were filled while we were there. The restaurant wasnt too loud, we could have a conversation. The restaurant was decorated in many bear themed items. They had a small gift shop near the register. Some of the staff were kind of hanging around betting on who would order what etc. and werent paying attention to the chefs. The cooks had to have the host take items to the tables because of this. Our server was pretty on top of things, got our food out quickly and got our order correctly and checked on us often. Drink refills were a bit behind but she had quite a few tables and it was understandable. Overall it was a decent meal for a decent price.

Came here after my car caught on fire and was hungry. Mark was so nice the whole time. Food came out fresh and definitely hit the spot after a long day of dealing with my car. Grits didn't have any flavor but I mixed it with my mac n cheese and it tasted great haha

Chicken fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns, 2 gigantic biscuits and gravy - for dinner!

Breakfast for dinner - what's not to love! The chicken fried steak and country gravy was phenomenal - exactly what I was craving. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuits....THE BISCUITS!!!! They were fluffy and dense, huge, and melted in my mouth. Added a side of gravy to complement the biscuits. Too much gravy? Never! My server, James, was amazing as well. Large portions, delicious food, great service. Perfect experience.

While traveling through the area, I decided to stop in and give this restaurant a try. I appreciated the ample parking and the signage reminding guests to be cautious of potential car break-ins. it's thoughtful and proactive. The interior was clean, well kept, and inviting. Service was attentive and pleasant; our server James was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our visit. He's a standout and brings genuine warmth to the dining experience. I ordered the pot roast after seeing a photo of it on Yelp, but unfortunately, it didn't meet expectations. The dish appeared and tasted as though it had not been freshly prepared. It was noticeably dry and lacked any sauce aside from a ladle of gravy seemingly intended for the mashed potatoes. I attempted to improve the flavor with hot sauce, but I was unable to finish the meal. I respectfully urge management to review the quality control around this item. Serving freshly prepared food should always be a priority. At its current state, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the pot roast to others. Once again, James was excellent, and I truly hope he continues providing the same level of customer care. With continued attention to food quality, this place could be a worthwhile stop for future travelers.

Big foot Chicken Fried Steak (560 cals.)

We came here on a Monday around 10:30am with a big group of friends. Got a seat right away. Service was friendly. Bear decorations everywhere. Cute atmosphere. Took about 25 minutes for the first few dishes to come out so order a drink in the mean time. Menu is extensive, presented in a newsletter type format. They managed to keep prices low while still serving large portions. The big foot chicken fried steak was only $16.99. This same dish in their Colma location is $24.99! Food is what you could expect at any diner. Ordered poached eggs with my chicken fried steak and the eggs were overdone. I should have expected that from a diner. Grits were bland, don't recommend. Sweet potato fries were much better. An add on was only $0.99 and it was a lot! If you like biscuits, they are about the size of baseballs here. Huckleberry lemonade wasn't anything special.

Zero stars if I could. Mark came off nice for five seconds--until I dared to ask for a simple meal modification due to a food allergy. That's when the eye rolls and huffing started. Sorry for trying not to die during lunch, Mark. Didn't even get the drink that was supposed to come with my meal. And the food? Straight trash. Chicken was burnt, bread was crunchy like it was toasted in hell, bacon tasted like an ashtray, and the fries were basically charcoal sticks. The second his attitude flipped, we should've gotten up and walked out. Never again.

I am on a quest to visit every Black Bear Diner. I started in Santa Maria, then Emeryville, and now Redding. It was important I get to visit the two very first diners that were built up North in Shasta and Redding. I admit I like the old feel to this diner and the old photos that were taken when it first opened in 1997. The staff stood out for telling funny jokes to the customers. Something I haven't seen at the other locations. My chicken pot pie was delicious however my loaded grits were cold. Otherwise I would give them 5

Can't go wrong with the food. Better quality, always a good choice. I try not to pass one at meal time.

Located in the Placer Heights Plaza, next to Starbucks. Same plaza as Holiday Market and CVS Pharmacy. We were seated immediately as they were not busy. The menu was a bit different than online. Our server came to take our order. He didn't introduce himself and seemed like he didn't want to be there. We decided on the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken sandwich and catfish po' boy. When the po' boy came out, we thought it was burnt! We didn't know the catfish will be blackened by default. We thought it will be fried since it is a po' boy. The options can be blackened or fried based on the menu online. We were not given those options by our server. They brought out the food but didnt provide utensils until minutes later. Fried green tomatoes: It was good. Fried perfectly. The dressing that was tossed with the side salad was super salty. Catfish po' boy: Fish was tender but super salty as well. Fried chicken sandwich: Pretty good sandwich. Chicken was huge. The fries was so soggy, not crispy at all. Also very greasy. We were a bit disappointed as we drove out of our way to try this place. Nice ambiance though. I felt I was a bit underdressed lol
