What an amazing place!!! My best friend & I like to have girl dates where we dress up & have a fancy dinner together. Black Barn Kitchen did not disappoint. We ordered two small plates & a large plate to share & were still able to take two Togo boxes. The service was so phenomenal we hugged our waitress on our way out the door! Can't wait to go back & learn more about the history of the schoolhouse!

Hubby had the smashed burger he gave it a 4 but he said it could use more seasoning. I had the fish and chips I also give it a 4 the fish could use more salt. The fries were seasoned well and they rate a 4.5. Our server was great and a delight. She gets a 5. The place is nice and clean. Want to know why there is a suit of armor to greet us that was odd bc we r in the school basement. Not mid-evil times. lol. Desert was tasty but not "home made" was more like a box cake from Betty Crocker. And took forever to get to us. So the cake gets a 3.

Rather flat burger that arrived in greasy deli paper. I cut it in half and ended up eating it with a knife and fork.

I was excited to go back to Black Barn after our first visit, but was really disappointed this time. When my food arrived, it looked like something I would expect from a fast food restaurant. The burger was actually quite good, but a greasy burger wrapped in deli paper that I had to eat with a fork wasn't what I was expecting. There were also so many gnats that I think my partner got tired of me swatting at them. The staff also kept making fun of a group having a school reunion, which seemed in poor taste as they were spending their money at the restaurant.

Easily one of the top brunch spots in the Rogue Valley. We tried the Staple, Hen and Chick, and the B&G. It's was all delicious but the biscuit and gravy... oh my.. service was prompt and friendly and the space itself was nice as well. The Bloody Mary is a must to start off with.

A local store owner in Jacksonville recommended this restaurant. I like the old brick interior. I would recommend more of an effort on the decor to help the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. Great service. Started with an appetizer of three large beignets. Lovely toppings made a beautiful and colorful start of our dinner. I enjoyed the pasta entree with a lot of mushrooms, bacon, and spinach. A little salty for me, but so flavorful. Nice toasted bread too. My husband selected the Tere's major steak medallions. Nice and tender. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. Overall, a nice place to visit.

The service was warm, attentive, and genuine, the staff made us feel welcome right away. The food was just as impressive. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while juicy and flavorful inside , comfort food at its finest. They nailed both the service and food! As a local to Jville we recommend to all our friends and family visiting. We will definitely be back soon.

Our Jacksonville Old West, Victorian and Edwardian Society went here for Saloon Night. We had such a wonderful time. The place is absolutely beautiful with lots of stone pillars and walls as well as antique photos and other beautiful pieces of art. Service is warm and efficient. The food seemed to please everyone. I was certainly pleased by my wedge salad, which is one of my very favorites. This one was really delicious. We will return many times.

Went out for dinner first time there. They had a special so we tried it. Pork with Potato mash and carrots and Ribeye with sweet potato mash fried mushrooms. Very good and tasty. Seasoned very well and service was great. The Chef came out to check on us and that really impressed me. We went back next day to try out the brunch. It was very good as well. Lots of food. Looks like we will be going back to try the sandwiches next.

We arrived about 7:30 on a VERY busy Friday night with reservations. We're greeted and seated immediately. Very attentive and friendly people working, food and drinks arrived quickly. Loved our drinks and dinner as well as VERY reasonable prices! What a deal for this area. Will be back again to try more drink and food options.

Is it possible to label your business photos? I would love to know the name of a dish that looks like something I would like to order.

The people who post the photographs have the opportunity to do that. I agree; it makes it a lot easier to choose.

Hidden gem!!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!!!…read moreThe historic charm & modern amenities make this a wonderful spot to stay or just visit & enjoy a cocktail and a bite. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon this unique, beautifully restored & maintained historic home/Inn, the first day we arrived in town. The moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by the owner (Becky) & manager (Charlie) who not only showed us a few of the beautiful guest rooms, but also shared the story of the McCullys house, which is quite interesting... just the original well on the property, alone. My hubby & I enjoyed lunch & a couple of cocktails in the main dining area on one of their soft velvet cozy, comfy loveseats, while looking out to the beautiful brick patio and outdoor fireplace. Their clam chowder is the best I have ever had!!! It's chuck full of clams (and some potato) with thyme. They have many signature cocktails to choose from. The gin&tonic was esp refreshing on a hot day. Justin, our server was wonderful & so much fun to chat with. We went back the following night, with friends for dinner & had another fabulous experience!!!! Thank you Charlie, Becky & Justin!!!!!

The arbor they've grown over the patio seating area is really spectacular. The menu is extensive, specializing in Italian including pizza. They also had live music the night were here. I had the stuffed sole (see photo) which came with a side of pasta and grilled squash. It was really excellent, I don't often see sole on the menu and I love it! I should have gotten a photo or two of the desserts - they are huge and really delicious. Our server did a great job of handling our large group of 13 with separate checks, etc. Great expererience, I'd return in a heartbeat.

The service was excellent and our server even personally showed me where the restroom was. All of the other staff were friendly and attentive. The menu was limited with about eight entrees. We had the warm bread starter which was lovely and served with three butters. My son ordered the steak, rare. Many restaurants do not know how to prepare a rare steak but they did a great job. It was served with potatoes and zucchini. He reports that the zucchini was excellent but the potatoes were a bit dry - nothing special. I ordered the lamb shank and it was incredible. Interesting presentation with the shank on a bed of delicious polenta surrounded by a perfectly prepared variety of squash and drizzled with juices from the roasting pan. For beverages, I ordered the old vine Zinfandel and he had the coconut and mezcal cocktail. The wines by the glass were quite reasonably priced but the cocktail disappointed. The restaurant overall was pleasant and comfortable. We ate on the patio. The landscaping clearly was not a priority. The patio was small so it seemed an odd thing to overlook.
