Warm and cozy inside with the Christmas lights and season happening outside through the picture windows. Sat at the bar and had a great conversation with a local couple. Our drinks were wonderful and amazing. Mine was even custom as the bartender took the ingredients I wanted and made a really tasty drink for me. 8 of my girlfriends and I were out for a girls' night in Jacksonville. One of my friends (our designated driver) had her 8-week old infant with her. We walked in this place, and the bartender rudely told us to leave. We asked why, and she looked at us dumbfounded and said, "Because you can't have a baby in a bar! You all need to leave now!" We we're all shocked at how rude she was. It's not like we were going to buy the baby a beer? But, all of the girls started to walk out and I asked the bartender if I could just have a drink while they all waited outside. She said she wasn't going to serve me and that I needed to leave right then. There were a few other customers that stood up for us and told the bartender she was being rude. One couple even offered to buy us a round at another bar so our night wasn't ruined from her. Long story short, we won't be back just based on how rude the staff was. read more

The ambiance is fantastic! The service is great. Brice is a fantastic bartender with lots of experience and ALWAYS a smile on his face. There are some slot machines so you can gamble a little but our favorite thing is the jukebox machine that with touch tunes you can play any song from where you are seated. This place is so amazing that I don't even drink and I so much enjoy going. My boyfriend likes the extra cold beer that a minute after being poured in the mug, it forms some icy suds in the mug. They have some tater tots that are the bomb. I just wished they had other food options. Definitely highly recommended spot to visit. read more

Well, was not impressed with the Lady bartender, must have been a bad day for her? When we walked in, my friend went to use the restroom, The bartender approached me with a frown on her face, I ordered 2 drinks, then trying to lighten things up, asking if she could smile? With the music playing loud in the background I could not really hear all her response, but something like I'm not smiling tonight!! Jokingly, an kindhearted I said ohhhh, there goes the tip!!! (I'm normally a generous tipper for waitress an bartenders.) She turned around an rudely said she was going to ask me to leave!! WHAT?? That what I had said was very inappropriate?? I used to love this place, then it got bad, then it got worse, then it got better. I still want to like it, but now it's lame. Don't believe their posted hours, they always close early-even on weekends when they're packed. Businesses with inconsistent hours usually go out of business, I hope that's not the situation with this spot. At least they're consistent with live music. read more

Myself, my husband, and two other couples will never step foot inside this establishment ever again! We had been there for about 30 min (9 pm) had ONE drink as the wives sat at the bar and chatted, and the husbands played shovel board. When my friend went to order a round of drinks, the bartender was incredibly rude and stated that she would not serve us any more drinks. When my friend politely asked why, she failed to respond and did not give a reason. Then, as a group, we politely inquired further. She then walked down to the other end of bar and called the police! well lit corner bar on the main street in Jacksonville, OR. I was touring through town on a Friday, visiting Medford for work and plenty folks mentioned coming by Jacksonville. Cute downtown area. They had a few pubs/eateries to choose from. Boomtown was my pick after a little shopping. I walked in, saw a couple bearded toughs at the end of the bar. It's got natural light, service was friendly, could tell the bartender knew a few of the clients. They had a few nice beers on and I ordered a Red Chair IPA from Deschutes. It came in a mug! Later I moved to the end of the bar to be by the window. They had golf on TV and I bought couple lottery tickets. They should be lucky. Nice time. Not too many customers, it was early yet. Folks playin' the video poker. Tried to picture what it would be like in the early 1900s. The bar was a little too bright - would've preferred a little darkier, dankier. read more

My wife and I stopped in here for some cocktails and air conditioning...it was 109 outside! We read and hung out through a couple of rounds. The atmosphere and bartender were pleasant enough. Boomtown is located on the main drag in Jacksonville, the first (1966) whole town in America to be listed as a National Historical Landmark. The building retains the charm of the late 1800 architecture. While pleasant enough, the bartender had trouble making an Old Fashion. No muddled cherry or orange, and seemed very light on the whiskey...but had 2 cherries floating in it. My wife had a vodka cranberry, which again seemed very red...where was that vodka? We were there during the Happy Hour (all well drinks $4) but despite asking for the house whiskey, she still charged me $8.50 for my Old Fashion. Bummer! read more

Bartender was incredibly rude. The most horrid experience. I was a guest to the Medford area, and have never been more embarrassed in my life. I totally understand rules.. regulations.. etc. As my party dispersed, I had a full glass of wine left sitting on an empty table. As a woman, I wasn't going to leave it sitting alone. Grabbed it and stepped outside for a quick call.. maybe 2-3 minutes. As I walked back in I was rudely approached by the bartender who aggressively snatched it out of my hand and told me to leave. Let's put this into perspective.. I'm from Kentucky where we are allowed to step outside, alcohol in hand. Had I known this was an issue I would have happily handed this glass of wine off to a friend, even the bartender. A respectful place of business would have grabbed me on my way out and told me to leave it in the establishment. Or stepped outside to tell me taking the glass outside was unacceptable. I get it and would have gladly complied. Instead this woman felt the need to watch me leave then rudely embarrass me in front of friends. Being in the marketing/social media workforce, there is a reason this place doesn't have a website or social media presence. Reviews can hurt. This could have been 100% avoided with a little girl power. Help instead of hurt. read more

My wife and I were staying in Medford, OR and it was recommended to us to try Jacksonville, OR for a small historical town atmosphere. We wandered into the Boomtown Saloon. We loved the historic storefront and equally enjoyed the casual historical interior. As you enter grab a bowl and some peanuts from a giant tub near the end of the long wood bar counter. They have a great shuffle board located along the side wall. The locals were very friendly and we enjoyed talking with the male bartender, who is still on active duty serving our country in the Army. Thank you for your Service! I had a double crown on the rocks and my wife had a couple tall Tanqueray and tonics. We enjoyed the drinks and the locals. I recommend stopping in and relaxing for a few minutes with your favorite beverage. There is only one bartender, so best if you are not in a hurry. read more

I don't normally write reviews but the male bartender at this bar was terrible!!!!!!!We came into this bar to have a drink last night while we were waiting for a ride. One of the gals I was with ordered a lemon drop martini, the female bartender made the drink. My friend took a sip and right away new it was made wrong. She got the attention of the male bartender. Let him know that it tasted like grapefruit not lemon. By the way she used to be a bartender so she knows when something is not made correctly. She asked him if he would make her a dirty martini instead. His reply " Sure but your going to have to pay for it"....Are you kidding me!! A paying customer tells you that she doesn't like the drink and your response is I'll make you another drink but your going to have to pay for it. She took one tiny sip, that was it. And mind you she ordered premium liquor not well, so it wasn't a cheap drink. What kind of bar refuses to replace a drink that was made wrong. We all pushed our full drinks up to the bar and walked out!! We went a few doors down to J-Ville tavern and had great customer service. I'll never go back to this bar!!!!!!!!! read more

I work in Jacksonville and have stopped in Boomtown a few times with my husband and and some friends. I can say that we have never had a bad experience, the bar food is decent (it's bar food) and good for some munchies with reasonably priced drinks. We love the look of the place (definitely Jville style), there is pool, shuffle board, and other board games to keep everyone entertained. I would give five stars but the service can be slow with only one person behind the bar and the jukebox music is pretty loud (but again, it's a bar...). read more

We were looking for a place to eat and drink while watching a couple football games and after looking up their website decided this would be our best bet. Turns out their website was more than deceiving. "Boomtown Saloon is where you go for exceptional food and spirits" this couldn't be further from the truth. They did not have a real menu and the few things they listed while describing themselves on the website were pretty much what they have. What they don't tell you is they don't have a kitchen and all of their food is is just heated up in a microwave or mini oven at the end of the bar. The popcorn they sell is microwave popcorn and they were out of fries on a Thursday night saying it had been a busy week (yeah right). The service was ok but some of the patrons weren't friendly and there were a bunch of flies hovering around while we ate as well. If you are looking for just drinks this place might be ok but don't count on much more. We will not be going back. read more
