Have been to Steam Distillery now on multiple occasions since they opened and continue to hope that service time will improve. The Lemongrass Collins is my absolute favorite cocktail on their menu, its just unfortunate that the service is extremely slow. There is typically only 1 or 2 employees handling the entire space and since the drinks are all crafted, between waiting to get your order taken and then waiting for the drinks to arrive, you're looking at 15 to 20 minutes. For the first time of these visits, we made reservations for the now reservation only Sunday menu. Reservation was at 4 and you had to place your order at the time of making your reservation days ahead. We didnt get our meals until 445. While the menu and presentation were amazing, the taste was not there. Lobster was very overcooked and lacked flavor in the seasoning, prime rib cut was impressive at 16oz but was cooked perfect and thankfully was served with some type of horseradish cream. The potatoes were stated as being a mashed potatoe type but we're not a mash in my opinion at all. It was a half super chunky scoop with the sour cream and butter kind of hidden in the middle. read more

My wife had come across some chat and pics from the resident restaurant here "That One Place" and so we searched it out- actually our first visit was last week right after we left the gym...lol, just wanted to take a peek inside, but the atmosphere and people were so inviting, we took a table for a quick bite. The food (my brisket taco) and my wife's shrimp tacos, were just incredibly delicious AND good-sized. I've had Brisket in Texas and in Tennessee, and this brisket was seriously the best of them all that I've had before. We'd been looking for just the right spot to have a 30th wedding anniversary dinner. One local place (by the river) has great food but can't seem to get a ribeye right. The other with a NewYork motif, served me a hideous ribeye a few months ago...so we wanted something else. KING on food, and ambiance secondary. Don't let Steam Distillery fool you- the causal steampunk- meets-British Pub vibe is not a ragged presentation, but a carefully crafted and executed place to sit and relax. SO laid back; and in a very special way, feels like home. We contaced April (That One Place Owner) to get some details before we came down, she's such a loving 'people person', and it shows not just in her demeanor, but the genuine care & love imbued into the dishes she serves. Three days after our recon visit, my wife and returned on 10/19 to celebrate our 30th anniversary few days early. Steak (Ribeye) and Lobster is what we both ordered. THE BEST RIBEYE STEAKS we've had in Grants Pass, right here, and BY a WIDE MARGIN!!!! The Lobster was sweet, and the twice-baked potatoes were stupendously delish. Will we be back? ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME. (??) MY wife told he she's quitting cooking on Sundays so we can come here. The patrons- good, salt of the earth, local folks who are very gregarious without being too much so- we had table o Casey was an attentive huge blessing serving at our table, we lacked for NOTHING. Jess behind the bar was awesome. My wife loved her Rogue Roasters Espresso Martini. Just over the top. And... April managed to come out of the kitchen so we could meet here in person- hugs for everyone. What a blessing she is, and she and her husband have an INCREDIBLE thing going here. DON'T MISS IT!!! Excellent dining experience in Grants Pass last night. Although the place was small and the menu was very limited, the cool decor, great service and amazing food made this restaurant shine. My blackened halibut was over an inch high and cooked perfectly. The seasoning was just right and not overpowering. Creamy mushroom rice and fresh grilled asparagus were great compliments to the dinner. My husband enjoyed a giant chicken Parmesan and lasagna. Only could eat half. Very flavorful. Wished he had a little more sauce. Our server, Casey, was very friendly and checked on us many times throughout dinner even though every table was filled. I liked the theme, and had to try this place because of the theme. There were no cars parked in front, so I was concerned, but when we opened the door, the small place was full and we were put on a waiting list. So glad we stayed!! GREAT Drinks, and STRONG!!! Chocolate Martini and a gin drink my wife loved. Friendly service and conversation. And an interesting arrangement for food, they have another company that does the food for them. A couple that both had medical issues, and started the food truck to keep busy after retirement and are now Steam's full time food service, using the kitchen in the building. On to the food! Steam was an incredible find! We stopped by on a Wednesday night and were immediately welcomed by Kenny, Trina, and a friendly group of locals. The cozy atmosphere, with warm lighting and distillery decor, felt just right. Our drinks--the mango habañero seltzer and especially the vodka-rita--were fantastic. Dinner was delicious, especially the tri tip sandwich and prawn skewers. Before leaving, we sampled (and bought) the house-distilled gin, tonic, and vodka. My husband and I celebrated our birthdays here last night with family and friends . It was our first time visiting this outstanding establishment. I cannot say enough about how delicious the food was. We had brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. They were all fall apart tender and perfectly seasoned. The drinks were so good too! Each person at our table had something different and there was not one thing that we did not love!! On top of all that, the prices were super reasonable! My hubby and I ordered a dinner for two that cost $28 including dessert. We brought home enough for at least 2 more meals. We came in looking for some drinks and dessert. They only had one option for dessert - ice cream and a brownie - which sounds delicious just not what we were looking for. We got the Lemongrass Collins and another drink that had grapefruit juice in it. Both of our drinks were really tasty and packed a punch! We were there for a guest chef night, and enjoyed the five course tasting menu. We had drinks and dinner tonight and it was amazing. I had a Long Island Iced Tea (they call it something different), my wife had a Nuckin' Futz. We both had the Teriyaki chicken. This is not the usual Teriyaki Chicken. The presentation was beautiful and flavor was excellent. All other diners loved their meals. It is no wonder it was voted best new business in Grants Pass. A great new craft distillery and bar........Their house made Gin and Vodka were both exceptionally smooth. The Gin was very citrusy, and while it could be easily mixed, it deserves to be enjoyed straight, almost like a fine aperitif or digestive, the juniper was present, but not dominant. As to the vodka, along with tastes of it, I also ordered a Lemongrass Collins, a lemongrass infused vodka cocktail that was wonderfully balanced, lemongrass, vanilla, a tiny bit sweet, a little tart. This was the vision of three locals, and it's got a really fun Steam Punk decor, which when placed in a late 1800's historic brick building that has housed several breweries, and in fact still does house one, it's a nice new addition to Grants Pass.
