We're headed north outta Medford and Grants Pass and now we're in Eugene for some work. It's time for a later lunch and I see there's a Texas Roadhouse and a BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse near by. WE pick the BJ's cause they have this $13 special Pizookie lunch deal with the deep dish pizza I love. I think I wanted to try a different piza then what I usually get. I normally get the classic, but this time I went for the all meat marvel or something like that. Served with a Caesar salad, I asked if I could get some anchovies on the Caesar like the real Caesars have. They server said he's check. The rest of the crew got the deep dish pizzas as well. Service was friendly in a trained chain restaurant kinda way. It's a little bit upscale inside, so that's nice. The Caesar salad arrives, holy crap, that's a TON of anchovies on it! It look like some kinda weird creatures on the salad! I shared some of the anchovies with who ever wanted any. I'll say it did add another dimension to the salad. My personal deep dish pizza arrived. Wow, that thing is stacked with toppings! Tons of pepperoni and meat. I think I like this one better than the Classic pizza. It was all quite filling and tasted all yummy, I'll keep coming to BJ's. This review is specifically for the take home item. My family and I enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant and had ordered an extra entree to take home for my friend who couldn't make it. None of us opened the box to check when we got the order, so when we got back and gave the box to my friend, it looked like someone has eaten the corn out of the box! There were only a few kernels (as seen in the picture) and the fried chicken was way over cooked. I don't recommend take out. read more

Been going to this location for as long almost 11 years. I've never experienced such poor customer service and food quality. I'll share my family's experience. We ordered our toddler aged child's food first so that way it comes out first and we can enjoy the rest of our dinner without a hangry child (we all know the hangry toddler tantrum). Everyone else's food came out except hers. Our server put blame on the kitchen and said that the manager was running the kitchen. Does that mean food won't come out in the order received? Does that mean everyone's food will be messed up? Even when the food came, it was the wrong food and we sent part of it back. My side caesar was less than half the normal size. My order of bone in wings were raw. Yes, raw. I thought it could be that off color that chicken sometimes has, but it tasted and felt raw to the touch. We were barely ever checked in and when our server did I told him take the wings back to the kitchen. The chef told him it's impossible for the wings to be raw. The server then told me he thought they were clearly raw too. He continued to put blame on the kitchen. We never had a manager come over to talk with us about what was going on. A family member order the pizookie combo meal and it took 25-30 minutes to get a pizookie. We eventually went outside and noticed other families waiting on their dessert. We were a group of 5 with relatively easy orders, but our entire reservation took nearly 2 hours. Pizookie is a well known item and it should not take that long. Over time, we've noticed the food quality has been going down, but we've kept returning as it's been kid friendly and our child loves it. This all begs the question, would BJ's management treat their friends and family the way mine was treated tonight? read more

Let's start with 5 stars for service. On a Friday night, holiday weekend. Specifically for our waiter. Additionally to his girlfriend who also chatted with us as well. Just very personable and kind even after a massive wave of dinner service. Our server was flawless and made up for a slow kitchen, a late salad, missing items on my salad and forgotten dressings. So the service was the highlight. The food was sub par. The sampler appetizer felt "from frozen" and the dip was overheated with a crusty top. The burger was good but over spiced. The cider was flat and overly sweet. But..... the slider burgers.... DELICIOUS! Home run! So, I'll come back and try a full burger and give it another try. First time at BJs! We got the $13 pizookie meal deal which includes one of about 6 different entree option and a personal size pizookie! A great deal! For our entrees we got the mediterranean chicken bowl and the chicken parmigiana pasta. the mediterranean chicken bowl was good, but overall nothing special - definitely something i could make at home for cheaper. the chicken parmigiana was good, flavor was nice and liked how the pasta was cooked. the chicken wasn't as crispy as we would've liked, most likely due to the sauce, but it wasn't bad! we ended with a chocolate chunk and strawberry shortcake pizookie, which were both DELICIOUS. if i were to come back it would be solely for the pizookies. so delicious and the personal pizookie was the perfect size! our server was very friendly and attentive, the only thing was he gave us a long spiel shortly after he delivered our pizookies, which i didn't love since we kinda had to wait till he was done talking to us to finish our pizookies and the ice cream had melted quite a bit by the time he was done. he was very friendly though. overall, the actual food was just mediocre but the pizookies are to die for!! will definitely be back to try more pizookie flavors! read more

I noticed quite a bit of dust, our fries had came out cold. The sweet Asian boneless wings were good. We were able to get seated quickly since we had a reservation, but it did take an hour for our food to come. The restaurant is nice though. After 15 minutes, we asked him if he could bring us our drinks now then he went ahead and waited on some other customers we asked again. Is there a problem with our drink? No, it's sitting there I just haven't had time to get it. He took three other tables orders that came in after us half an hour. We still hadn't got a drink and went to the manager. My partner and I went here for dinner after a long evening. We arrived around 9:15pm and left around 10:30pm. There were still a few tables occupied which was nice since I hate being the only table in a restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately and the server Nadia took our drink orders about 10 minutes after we sat down. Nadia was super friendly and personable and we loved having her as our server! We placed our food orders when our drinks were dropped off. I got the smokehouse burger and my partner got the shareable combo pizza. My burger was a little overdone but tasted good. The onion strings were the best part, I could eat those every day. The pizza was also good, my partner said it was very filling. The restaurant was reasonably clean but our table was a bit sticky when we sat down. A piece of old rice was right there on the table in plain sight so I'm not entirely sure the table was wiped at all between seatings. The bathroom was clean. There is a ton of parking since the restaurant is right next to the mall, meaning it's also pretty easy to get in and out of. Overall our experience tonight was good. I came in with my husband last night for dinner. We had been to Texas Roadhouse very recently, so BJ's was the next choice for our date night while at VRC. This was not the most brilliant choice on our part. The hostess asked what brought us in. Well, it's 1800 hours and I'm hungry. Weird, right? She seated us, while struggling to string two cohesive sentences together. She seemed thrilled she could even mark our table out on the guest list in the computer. Our server arrived and asked us why we were there. He looked genuinely shocked when I said, I'm hungry. Like, I really can't fathom another reason for going to a restaurant. I didn't go for the non-existent bowling, that's for sure. Is there something I'm missing as to why people go to restaurants other than eating? Plus, nothing says welcome quite like, why are you here? He then spends a solid 5 minutes explaining the menu like we're 5 years old, followed with a long drawn-out spiel about donating to the charity No Kid Hungry. Last time I checked, I am capable of reading the menu, and I'm there to eat, not listen to a sales pitch. I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken, our waiter made absolutely certain I didn't mean chicken parm, and explained that it's a common mistake. Again, I do know how to read and use my words. My husband ordered a steak and shrimp combo. They were out of filet, so he had to pick something else. Which kept our waiter there and talking the entire time. He finally picked another combo of steak and chicken. Waiter didn't bother asking how my husband wanted his steak cooked, so I chimed in and said he wants that cooked medium-rare. Waiter blankly stares at me and says, oh okay, and doesn't write it down. Our appetizer arrives, it was mozzarella sticks, and they were good. They always are, and our go-to appetizer. My husband ordered chili, which was basically tomato soup with some hamburger, copious amounts of taco seasoning and sour cream. No crackers, no onions, no texture. My Parmesan crusted chicken was decent. Broccoli lacked flavor or seasoning. My husband's steak was over cooked (shocker, given our waiter couldn't be bothered to pay attention to this part of the conversation) and his chicken had no seasoning on it. Like, they slapped it raw on the grill and literally did nothing to it before or after. He elected not to send it back, because it's time consuming. I drank only half of the soda I ordered and our waiter brings another with the box for my meal at the end. I said no, I don't want that because I can't drink it. He says, that's fine, just leave it there then and sets it on the table. Like, I don't tell you no to be argued with. I said no so you'd take it back. We had the tiniest table in the restaurant. The last thing I want is a full glass of soda I already said no to just sitting on the table waiting to be bumped and spilled. I said no for a reason, and that reason isn't so you can argue with me. The restaurant was clean and nothing wrong with it. So at least they've got that right. But clearly Tuesday night is not their A Squad in terms of staff. Would I return? One day, in the distant future after I've had time to forget these atrocities and the ridiculous amounts of money I paid to suffer through them, sure. But not until then. One of the biggest problems with BJ's is their severe lack of consistency. We've had decent meals here in the past over the years, which is what has brought us back. But it's like we get one good one, so we go back. Second one is completely shit in comparison. So we don't go back for a while. Then we rinse and repeat. If they could actually nail consistency the way Texas Roadhouse does, we'd probably go back more. But if we're being honest, if you're considering going to BJ's, do yourself a favor and walk the fifty yards to Texas Roadhouse for a far better meal. You can thank me after. read more

One entree was brought out , and the rest was quiet awhile later , so we watched one person eat until the rest showed up. BJ's has always been in the rotation of restaurants my wife and I visit when looking for somewhere to eat for a night out. Over the years, we have been very happy with the food quality and service, no matter if we were there as a couple for the night, or with a large group of people. Years ago, my Mom and I went to BJ's and she had such a great hamburger that she spoke about it for years. So, it is her 81st birthday today and I took her there to get another burger that she loved so much. We arrived in the early afternoon when it wasn't too busy. We were pleasantly greeted by a nice young woman who asked how many, my Mom said two, and she said just a moment please. She had to look real quick to see which tables were available as her system was down. She kept a smile on her face and seated us quickly. Her attitude and help are one of the two stars given. After being seated, it seemed to take longer than it should for our server to arrive. He walked by once, touched my Mom on the shoulder and said he would be with us in a moment. My Mom (and myself) are not ones that like to be randomly touched randomly, and I found it odd. He circled back around a bit later and asked what we would like. We started with drinks, and my Mom wanted to try their house made root beer. This is where the second, and only star comes from. It was a great artisan root beer. My Mom said she would like a cheeseburger with only ketchup and nothing else. The server said, "Do you mean dry" and she said just the burger with ketchup and nothing else. He said he had it and asked for my order. I said I would like one of the half-priced large pizzas. He said, "Those only come in the large size" insinuating it was too much for one person. I said, "I'm going to take the remaining home with me, it's a great deal". He left with our order and we chatted for awhile. Our server brought food to a table across from us and apologize for the delay. He said the story was they messed up one of the pizzas, so they had to remake it. While still waiting, some customers were seated on the other side of the short wall from us. They had a vibrant, upbeat and attentive server...we felt a little jealous. Soon after, our server came by, touched ME on the should this time, and said it shouldn't be too much longer. Why is it necessary to pat us on the shoulders? Please stop! Our food finally arrives, my Mom's burger is sat down in front of her and my pizza was put on the stand and our server awkwardly put a couple of pieces on my plate. I asked if my Mom could get a glass of water, so he went to get one for her. My Mom looked at me and asked for me to look at her burger. It had a full amount of toppings on it, not what I would call dry with ketchup only. Our server returned, and I asked about the burger. My Mom had taken everything she could off, and I said her burger came with everything on it. He said, "It's dry, the toppings were put on". I mentioned she asked for a burger with just ketchup and nothing else...he said, "Oh, you mean PLAIN, not dry"? WHAT? She said just the burger and ketchup, nothing else. Then the best part. He asked if she wanted the toppings taken off her plate to make room. She politely said yes, and he processed to literally pick them off her plate with his bare hands!!!!! Like a few different grabs, totally disgusting. Guaranteed he's handle money, and who knows what else. Totally unacceptable in my opinion. We finally get to eat our food! My Mom takes one bit into her burger and it's barely warm. The fries are also closer to cold than hot. I took a bit into my pizza...super-doughy and not completely done. I grabbed a piece from the other side of the pizza and it was more done, but not to the standards I would think of at BJ's. I jokingly said to my Mom, "Maybe my pizza is only half cooked because it was half price today" and I thought she was going to spit out a piece of lukewarm hamburger! At this point, we just wanted to eat a little and get out of there. We both ate a little of our meals and decided to bring them home and heat them correctly. I have a feeling her burger sat, waiting for my pizza to cook. Maybe it was made incorrectly like the other customers and it waited too long? We asked to take the items home, and our server thought he was funny and said, "You have to eat it all here". I kept my mouth shut, as I was so over it at this point. He boxed up my pizza for me (thank goodness with a utensil!) and left my Mom to fend for herself. I'm ok with it, as I'm sure he would have just grabbed them with his hands. My dad went to go pick up a pizza for curbside. He sat there for over 10 minutes and then called the number that's on the sign. No one answered. I called for him, and they said he needed to come inside. I asked what the difference is between takeout and curbside then if they don't come out to you, and he said "I don't know," and they're "too busy," but came in and saw 4 servers/ hosts standing around chatting at the host stand. It's an entree with a mini pizookie for $13, drinks are separate, but regardless that's a good deal! We've been twice for the same deal and it's been solid both times. I ordered online 3 hours ahead. Needed my food ready at 6. Received a text message at 5:59 saying my food was ready. Check in and be seated and my food would be served. I did get seated at 6:03. Then sat and waited until 6:35 before the food was served. Finally but wait. We had no silverware. In the mean time I did pick up a fry and it was cold. I touched my broccoli it was barely warm. No one ever came by so I stood up and started wandering. I finally got someone's attention at 6:41 who was apologetic and promised to promptly return with silverware and bbq sauce. At 6:46 when we finally received silverware all the food was cold. Ordering fresh food was not an option as I don't eat after 6:00. Also no guarantee food would be served when ready. Took my family to dinner. I had the brisket nachos. Now I would have never thought bbq sauce would ever pair up with chips let alone nachos. This was absolutely phenomenal. So very delish! I wouldn't be writing this except for the highlight of the meal, the meat. This place used to have decent food if not overpriced. Now it's just overpriced. The asparagus was both limp and dry. I like it firm and moist. Even with it being so busy the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We hardly had any wait time for our food and drinks. The food was great, I really enjoyed the ribs and tri tip combo. The ribs were not dry, they were cooked just right. The tri tip was a little under cooked but still very tasty. I really enjoyed the green beans and the wedge salad. My son and father in law loved the large cookies and ice cream. I did finish off my dinner with a lemon drop, it was very good. I usually am very pleased with the food we get delivered from BJs, but unfortunately too many times items are missing from the order. Tonight, I ordered a loaded baked potato and a small Caesar salad. You almost got the potato right forgetting only the sour cream. The Caesar salad is another story. I asked for grilled chicken as the protein and expected it to come with Caesar dressing, Parmesan cheese , and croutons. All I got was a container filled with lettuce, a couple of croutons, and a very small smattering of Parmesan. Extremely disappointed! He disappeared so we ate them anyway. When I pointed it out to him he said it was his mistake and apologized. I think he should have taken the mistake off the bill. Not sure why, but I've been craving chain restaurants lately. We came in for dinner on a Thursday. We were told that the wait would be 10-15 minutes and right at 15 minutes, we got seated. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food is pretty standard Americanized food, nothing to write home about. However, bonus points for the pazookie.
