first some background. I grew up on bagels which were dense, chewy, smaller than what you see at Panera for example. In comparison I was really looking forward to this place opening. I went on a Saturday morning at 8am and the line was 3/4 of the way to the door. The line moved slowly and it became apparent why. They opened maybe a week or so earlier. There were easily 5 people working behind the counter. The register person was obviously new and it is quite possible it was her first job which caused some delay as they needed to write down the order to pass to the waiting staff to make bagel sandwiches or prepare a bagel with spread, then I ordered a bakers dozen bagels as well. Then they had to ring up the order. This is a place that would benefit with having a point of sales system that produces tickets for others to make items from the menu. I understand this is a local independent place but put a little thought into some efficiency and technology (even calling out the order would have helped speed things up). In fairness it is also a very new place and shaking out the bugs in the first month or so will hopefully improve. By the time I was done and was waiting for my order the line was almost out the door and some people didn't come in because it was so crowded around 9am by this time. Now for the food. I ordered an everything bagel with the lox and cream cheese it is the most expensive sandwich on the menu. Comes with the customary slice of onion and tomato. It had a small amount of lox but the sandwich hit the spot. The bagels are light, airy and a bakers dozen is very reasonable in price. They have a good variety of bagels and even muffins. They do quite a few bagel sandwiches with eggs and other ingredients. A variety of flavoured cream cheeses are available as well. There are about 10 sit down tables or so and a little area in front where large coffee containers sit for self serve coffee. It is a small place so if you go when its busy and want to sit, good luck. There are some art items on the walls referencing NYC scenery and I think I saw on the website they were from NY. I will go back and try some more sandwiches and bagels. It isn't what I love for bagels but i can like them. Now to try the the bagel place near St. Augustine. I hope Bite A Bagel makes it and continues to improve. read more

If you are looking for NY bagels this is the place to go! I have heard they actually fly in the dough from NY. Does it get more authentic than that?! They also make a variety of flavored cream cheeses in house, my faves are the bacon chive and garden veggie. Sometimes we will stop by for lunch and have a bagel BLT turkey sandwich (which is HUGE) and their Cole slaw is on point. I cannot say enough good things about this place! read more

Went to location on 210 and these are the BEST bagels!!! I grew up eating bagels in New Jersey, and these rank up there with the best bagels in NJ/NY. Basically, you can't get much better if you're looking for the perfect bagel. They're soft and chewy like they should be, not stale bread like you get everywhere else. Their creme cheese is awesome too. I moved to FL 20 years ago and have missed a good bagel... until now. Unfortunately it's 30 minutes from my house, but I will be going here every time I'm in the area. I buy a ton and freeze them. Their everything bagel is perfect- just a touch of salt for flavor. Most other places in town don't do that. My kids and their friends just learned what a good bagel is too- they each ate THREE bagels in an hour. They couldn't stop! The secret is out. Decided to try out this place today since it is close to my neighborhood. They're closed on Mondays so plan accordingly. Nothing outstanding about this place. Coffee was fair, bagels fine, and I couldn't even get a cup of water. I had to buy a bottle. Our "meal" of 2 bagels and drinks was over $10. Probably won't becoming back. I never liked bagels and cream cheese before being introduced to this place. I live nearby and regularly pick up an assortment of bagels and cream cheeses (there are so many different options every day!) to bring to my family and/or my coworkers. My boyfriend swears by the pumpernickel everything. I haven't tried any lunch items yet but I certainly plan on it! In regards to other reviews about the cashiers--I've had some awkward interactions with them too but a little patience and respect as a customer goes a long way. read more

I have had mixed experiences at this place. A family member brought a dozen bagels home and we liked them. A group of guys I know also ordered bagels and the overall consensus were they were better than what you get in the grocery store. However, I stopped in recently for breakfast and ordered an omelet on a platter. It was OK but squished into a Styrofoam box and served with plastic utensils. Sure was an unappealing presentation. I also ordered a cinnamon raison bagel. It had 1 raisin, no cinnamon aroma or taste and had been microwaved (makes the bagel too chewey!). I would still get bagels occasionally but won't go back for a breakfast. The place is fairly new so maybe it will improve in consistency. It is unique in the area so I wish it well but have doubts about their approach. read more

First, their bagel sandwiches are so big that they are usually both breakfast and lunch for me. The NY style bagels are amazing and the additions they have for the sandwiches are great! I went in one day to get a sandwich - mind you, it is usually both breakfast and lunch - and headed to work. When I opened the sandwich at my desk, it wasn't what I ordered. When I called the store, they wine above and beyond to correct the mistake and I didn't miss both breakfast and lunch because of that. read more

This was my first time visiting Bite o Bagel and it was fantastic!they have many options to choose from. My favorite was my boyfriend's sandwhich which was the Brooklyn with a ghost bagel. This place is awesome!! We got the Brooklyn on an everything bagel and a regular sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The jalapeño cream cheese is literally jalapeños in cream cheese and it's so good and spicy. Speaking of cream cheese - you will get a ton of it. These things are huge. We frequent BAB often, and love their breakfasts. My only disappointment is perhaps a minor one, or maybe just something that was overlooked. Months ago there was a drink cooler with diet sodas, etc. for sake. Fairly recently, a soda machine was installed, however, there are no sugar-free options. Besides the machine is a sweet tea dispenser - again, oddly, no sugar-free option. In fact, since I'm a non-coffee drinker, my only sugar-free drink option is water. Really impressed with this seemingly small cafe/bakery. Great bagels, NY style, good Italian roast coffee w/flavored cream and real half and half. Ordered the omelette w/ham slice on side and salted bagel, toasted w/butter and because it was Thursday, got a free coffee! Great service and price, going to go back again, again and again! Great bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Only place in Jax with Salt bagels. Jalapeño cream cheese has jalapeño chunks and tastes great. The ham is not a thin piece of lunch meat--it's a delicious piece of ham steak. Variety of bagel and "flagel" (flat bagels with less calories) choices. I wish I had known about this place sooner! My new favorite breakfast spot. They have lunch options, but have not yet tried them. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! We were regulars here several days per week until we discovered how much they DO NOT value their customers. On last visit we picked up bagels on the way to the office and upon opening the bag we discovered that one of the bagels was totally mangled with what appeared to be a bite taken out. I didn't eat it - I just snapped a pic on my phone and threw it out. I advised the store owner Kathleen of the issue and she accused me of messing it up just to try and get a free bagel out of them. Huh?! My boyfriend called and had a conversation with the owner about my experience, and at first she claims so many of her customers try to scam her everyday, but then she apologizes to him, offers to buy us breakfast the next time we came in if we ever decided to give them another chance. Then a few days later when I return she totally reneges on her offer! Unbelievable! We will NEVER return after receiving sub par customer service and insults... Not to mention the bagels are nothing to write home about. And to Kathleen (the owner): You FAILED. You were given an opportunity to keep us as a customer and you blew it - AGAIN. Business does not seem to be your forte based on your other unpaid reviews which all echo my concerns. Please stop making excuses that you are "small" and that's why you treat your customers like garbage when they have an issue with the food THAT YOUR OWN STAFF CAUSED. Nobody is trying to scam you out of a $3 bagel... GET. OVER. IT. In this world, customer service is the only thing that matters. If someone buys a bagel (and it is not EXACTLY as they ordered) and they ask for replacement it is NOT that you are being generous and giving them a FREE bagel. Oh no, it is the customer being generous and continuing to give you their business despite your mess up. If you messed up the bagel, then you should replace it and not give this "I can't afford to replace it since we are a small business" excuse. OWN IT. Train your staff better. And my God, please stop asking "to stay or to go today?". Say it like the rest of the world... "is it for here or to-go?"...
