It's a Metro Diner so generally speaking everything is good. I was here for a late-ish breakfast while killing time. Good service (Thank you, Matthew!) It is a new place as everything is in St. John's. Clean and well-lighted. My only real gripe was that I ordered a 3-egg breakfast platter and the amount of scrambled eggs was 1.5 at best. Certainly not three. I did not bring it to my server's attention. But the server should be checking this sort of thing before he leaves for the table. Pet peeve of many breakfast restaurants in N.E. Florida... why does no one butter the toast in the kitchen before serving it? Is it a law or health code thing? Do I need to ask them to butter the toast?Somebody please advise. Thanks. read more

My good buddy bezos last night decided it was a great idea to drink a bunch and then take 5 shotguns at around 4am. The other part of the group also drank their life away, and because of this you always need to go to a diner the next day. It was a pleasant afternoon.. the birds were chirping, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind felt cool. The group stumbled on Metro Diner which looked very appealing! We were told by a couple nice people that it was only a 15 minute wait which was perfectly fine so we went to Publix and bought a couple things. When we came back we were seated outside with a friendly waiter who got us going right away. The ogre kept saying how she wanted fried chicken and waffles, but then got nervous because it was 2000 calories.. like what? "You're on vacation just get the chicken and waffles." She was already overweight anyways so why not add more fuel to the fire. Anyways onto what we got! Me: egg scramble bowl with avocado and bacon. And oatmeal with fruit My good Buddy Bezos: burger bowl Doctor Bs wife: avocado egg sandwich thing Tragic: your classic eggs, toast, sausage, homefried The heaviest girl ever: Belgian waffle and some fruit? Okay pause.. how do you go from I WANT CHICKEN AND WAFFLES to mmm I'll have a waffle and some fruit! Okay anyways onto the reviews of the food itself! Doctor Bs wife: Really good Tragic: Mid Ogre: My eggs tasted like the were sitting out a while, the waffle wasn't hot but still good and I wish it was warmer and the butter was hard and cold My good buddy bezos: actually he was in the shower so I didn't get his review, but I know he liked it, that burger bowl actually looked good. Me: Yeah I mean I am a sucker for scrambled bowl with hollandaise sauce, I definitely have had way better, but the taste was there. I would like to add that I basically finished my entire meal before tragic or the wife got theirs. It will be shown in the photos below. I tried to be polite and wait, but after 5 minutes without their food showing up I had to eat I was starving. It's kind of crazy to me that me ogre and my good buddy bezos were first. I would think that the classic plate of tragics would be easy, as well as the sandwich because it's just the same stuff in my bowl just between bread somewhat. I enjoyed the ambiance and the feel of the place for sure. The music that was playing was also enjoyable, so initially I was at a three but because of those factors along with the fact that I did somewhat like my food more than the others (which is rare) and don't feel terrible after that's why we stand at a four. I would like to clarify every place has its own rating system. Like you cannot compare a fancy restaurant to a diner although they are still deemed a 4 on my page. Sorry anyways, the prices were also really reasonable and we had a good time. Maybe next year when we are back around here we will come back! It was good! read more

I went around 3 this afternoon after I got my nails done on 210. Staff was very nice and told me to sit anywhere unlike the older one on Baymeadows which is very busy. I was feeling like having meatloaf since it is difficult to cook at home with my BIL who can only have a very terribly restricted diet. He is currently on a water fast. The meatloaf was two large slices and more than I could eat. I couldn't take it home so I just buried it in dinner napkins. I did try the strawberry dessert after searching for pie since other than my BIL everyone else is on a Keto diet. It was served warm and covered with strawberries and sprinkles. I couldn't eat all of that either so it must be sized to share. read more

Metro does not disappoint. We stopped in towards the end of the lunch hour. We were told about a 15 minute wait but it was only about 10 minutes before we were seated. Coffee was a must on this cold day. We placed our orders after reviewing and deciding between many great options. I got the meatloaf and my wife got the ruben. Both were great. Today we had the privilege of having Matt as our server! He has such a great sense of humor and a way at making all of his customers feel they are the most important. I watched his interaction with the other tables and he did for them what he did for us which is make us feel as a valued guest. This is a special trait that Metro diner should be very impressed! I had a corn beef hash, which I have to say what is excellent! The potatoes were not overcooked and the brisket was cooked to perfection! They also got my eggs just the way I like them and the biscuits today tad bit overcooked but they were OK This was a great visit. I love the feel of this particular metro diner. We came to this location for breakfast. This is Metro's newest location, and it's located on CR 210, in a publix plaza. Parking is plentiful in this plaza and there is parking located on the side of Metro Diner. When we walked in we were greeted, and then shown our table. I noticed on the door that this particular location is open Sunday - Saturday, and open until 8 pm. After looking over the menu, I opted to get the Bistle breakfast, which came with eggs, your choice of meat, choice of bread, home fries/grits/hashbrowns, and two pancakes, and I ordered a coffee. It didn't take too long for our breakfast to come out. My eggs were perfectly cooked, my bacon was crisp, my seven grain toast was toasted great, and my pancakes were light and fluffy. My homefries weren't hot, so I mentioned something to our waitress and she was quick to get me a fresh order, which came out hot and crisp. I checked out their lunch and dinner options and eager to try them sometime. All in all, I'll be back for breakfast or lunch. read more

I have never had a bad experience at the Metro Diner in any of their locations. The food has always prepared perfectly with a good crust. The service has always courteous and they go out of their way to be nice to you. The ambience is excellent as well. I would give it five stars on a five star scale. Today was day one at this new diner to the public. They certainly had a lot of people there with big smiles on their face. I really enjoyed my breakfast, which was a couple eggs with sausage, grits, and the rolled cinnamon pecan pancakes, which were really good. I was told Metro diner was a great place to eat but a little pricey. I'm a person that hits all the breakfast places in the area and I found the prices to be just fine. 3.59 for the coffee maybe was a little much but then again you could drink as much coffee as you want so then it becomes a great bargain. They went from two pieces of toast to one, if you got a carb side item like the pancakes (which were great) . The problem I have with that is, I had two eggs and I wanted two pieces of toast. I enjoyed my visit, my waitress Bianca, who is from Connecticut like myself, had a great conversation of what we missed there and how much we love it here in Saint Augustine. I will definitely be coming here again. The experience overall, including price was great. I enjoyed the cinnamon/pecan pancakes. But to be fair, I would eat rusted bolts if they were dipped in cinnamon and pecan. On my second visit I tried their special of corn beef hash which was good also and not greasing, or salty alike many others. Another thing I like is , easy in easy out in such a busy area. read more

The steak tips were tough to chew. Didn't get the broccoli we ordered as the side. The BLT we ordered they forgot the tomato. Didn't get the hash browns ordered as the side. Good pickles. They need a better review process to ensure orders are complete and correct. read more

Went to breakfast this AM with my wife snd the wait was not too long. I ordered a Western Omelette and the mushrooms came whole (not chopped) like the other items. I asked for gluten free toast and the waitress said yes and then charge me without telling me an extra $2.00. I asked for onions in my hash browns and they charge me .90 cents and didn't add them to the hash browns. My wife asked for extra crispy bacon and it came out not extra crispy. She had to wait for bacon. I am writing this so that management takes action to train their staff to explain extra costs to customers as they placed their orders. The ambiance was ok but they had fans at full speed inside?? Also, I shouldn't have to ask for more coffee. read more
