Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans.
    Dawn M.

I went around 3 this afternoon after I got my nails done on 210. Staff was very nice and told me to sit anywhere unlike the older one on Baymeadows which is very busy. I was feeling like having meatloaf since it is difficult to cook at home with my BIL who can only have a very terribly restricted diet. He is currently on a water fast. The meatloaf was two large slices and more than I could eat. I couldn't take it home so I just buried it in dinner napkins. I did try the strawberry dessert after searching for pie since other than my BIL everyone else is on a Keto diet. It was served warm and covered with strawberries and sprinkles. I couldn't eat all of that either so it must be sized to share.

Metro does not disappoint. We stopped in towards the end of the lunch hour. We were told about a 15 minute wait but it was only about 10 minutes before we were seated. Coffee was a must on this cold day. We placed our orders after reviewing and deciding between many great options. I got the meatloaf and my wife got the ruben. Both were great. Great food and good service.

Great new location and consistent local charm. Welcome to the neighborhood, Metro! The folks here are enthusiastic and ready to please. Can't go wrong with standard diner fare. Food was good and service even better. :)

Breakfast with rolled cinnamon pecan pancakes

Today was day one at this new diner to the public. They certainly had a lot of people there with big smiles on their face. I really enjoyed my breakfast, which was a couple eggs with sausage, grits, and the rolled cinnamon pecan pancakes, which were really good. I was told Metro diner was a great place to eat but a little pricey. I'm a person that hits all the breakfast places in the area and I found the prices to be just fine. 3.59 for the coffee maybe was a little much but then again you could drink as much coffee as you want so then it becomes a great bargain. They went from two pieces of toast to one, if you got a carb side item like the pancakes (which were great) . The problem I have with that is, I had two eggs and I wanted two pieces of toast. I enjoyed my visit, my waitress Bianca, who is from Connecticut like myself, had a great conversation of what we missed there and how much we love it here in Saint Augustine. I will definitely be coming here again. The experience overall, including price was great. I enjoyed the cinnamon/pecan pancakes. But to be fair, I would eat rusted bolts if they were dipped in cinnamon and pecan. On my second visit I tried their special of corn beef hash which was good also and not greasing, or salty alike many others. Another thing I like is , easy in easy out in such a busy area.

I loved mine scallops, such a unique twist with the tom yum broth. My husband got the ribs and they were incredible! We got the Hawaii coffee and the lava cake to finish. The ice cream or sorbet with the lava cake was so special. We would definitely come back!

We made an early reservation since we saw they do Happy Hour 4PM to 5:00PM everyday so we had to get in on that. We walked and and were seated at our table. They made sure to let us know you can sit anywhere during Happy Hour and still get the specials where many restaurants limit it to a bar area. Rustica does a great job of Happy Hour. They have appetizers, cocktails, beer, Sake, wine, and even main course happy hour entrees too. I started off with a cocktail going for the Liliko Martini which I really enjoyed. I have really been into my Passion Fruit drinks lately. We of course had to get some of the Happy Hour appetizers too and we might have gone a little overboard but for sure worth it. We got: The Naan Bread Yellow Beet Salad Crispy Tofu Roasted Pork Belly Bao Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia Japanese Style Fried Chicken These were a great way to start off dinner and not one of them were $8 or less. If I had to pick favorites the best was for sure the Roasted Pork Belly Bao. I think it might have been the best Pork Belly Bao I had ever had. I was a large thick piece of Pork Belly but it just melted you your mouth and had so much flavor. We also very much enjoyed the Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia which were much bigger then expected. The Japanese Style Fried Chicken was great too and the BBQ Ranch took it to the next level. For my entree I went with the Basil Crusted Roasted Monkfish which came with Vietnamese Yellow Curry, Crispy Shrimp and veggies. The Monkfish was cooked perfectly. I had a great sear on it too which gave it a bit of a crunch. I know Monkfish can sometimes be intimidated people because it was pretty ugly looking but let me tell you if it's prepared like this you're going to love it. Some of the best fish I have had. The Vietnamese Yellow Curry paired very well with it too. Wasn't too heavy and didn't over power the fish but just added an extra boost of flavor. I know what you're thinking who could was possibly be hungry for dessert but it sounded good so we ordered the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee and the Yuzu Cheesecake. Both were light enough that we could still really enjoy them after all we had eaten. We really like that the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee also had bubble boba in it which we didn't expect. We had an amazing meal and for sure be coming back sooner rather then later.

The server Daniel that we had was over the top, checking on us very frequently, super friendly and was very knowledgeable on the menu. The hostess was also very friendly and welcoming. As well as the manager who came to our table to ask how everything was. The food left us speechless. The ribeye was by far the best I have ever had. The shrimp and grits had such an amazing flavor. Portions were well worth the money. The setting inside was perfect. I would recommend this place 100X over again. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

My boyfriend had a custom make your own old fashioned, which is always fun. You choose what type of liquor, bitters, and smoke you would like so you can tailor your drink to your liking. For appetizers, we had to get the roasted oysters, everything here has the essence of that fire grilled taste which I particularly love on oysters. After we knocked back a dozen of those, we tried the fries with the tender beef, cheese, and pickled jalapeños. They fry them in tallow, which gives the fries a really nice rich flavor! Then my boyfriend has some cornbread, which had a fruit jam and whipped butter, which he enjoyed. I typically get the chimichurri steak which again has that nice fire grilled element and is paired with some delicious vegetables like carrots, green beans, and potatoes. My boyfriend had the red fish over the andouille dirty rice, which was phenomenal! If I didn't get my seafood craving from the oysters, I definitely would've ordered that. Everything was fantastic as always!

There's a huge full service bar area and a spacious dining room for date night for two and large celebrations on their outside deck overlooking a lake brim full of turtles, fish, gators, birds and all kinds of native Florida wildlife set against views that capture all that's great about living in Northeast Florida. Really amazing! Our server, Susan, was outstanding! She's the one who makes the coleslaw whenever she's on schedule and it's absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. I went on Sunday with my family and we all got the special of about 20 shrimp anyway you like them cooked: fried, steamed or blackened for $16.99 (@ the time I'm writing this review). We all went for the fried shrimp dinner. I chose the fries as my other side and added the unlimited salad bar for just $2.99 more. The salad bar had everything I love about an AYCE salad buffet and it's definitely worth the add. 5-STARS for their classic ranch dressing! And the balsamic dressing, blue cheese dressing and French dressing was excellent, too. They offer a few others, but I didn't try them. I have to have ranch with my fries and I grabbed a bowl of it from the salad bar. I washed it all down with some of their classic Southern sweet tea and I was too full for the Key Lime Pie on special for the day. Next time... After our meal, we went out of the deck to feed the turtles, fish and other wildlife and snap some photos to share. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and fried. Even though it was in the 90s outside, the deck was actually very pleasant, and watching the turtles and fish in the pond was by far the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi fish sandwich with fries. The fish itself was actually well cooked and nicely seasoned, but the tomato on the sandwich was literally the top core slice of the tomato. A simple glance in the kitchen would have easily prevented that. We also had the shrimp po' boy with fries. The bun had been placed on the grill to toast, but it picked up heavy black char that ended up all over the bread and mixed into the shrimp. I bit into the sandwich and was shocked to crunch down on bitter, burnt residue that even hurt my tooth. It really made me wonder what else had been on that grill. The shrimp itself also had a freezer-burnt taste, and the fries had a similar off flavor. For a seafood restaurant, I didn't expect that level of quality issue with basic ingredients. The server offered to remake the sandwich but with that kind of taste, I did not think a remake would fix the problem. Overall, very disappointing food experience. I'm honestly surprised by the generally good reviews and unfortunately can't recommend this restaurant based on our visit.
