At this particular time during this pandemic, I'm attempting to circle back to my favorite restaurant I enjoyed pre-pandemic to see who is open and offering outdoor dining. To my delight, Kaskade is now offering outdoor dining and plus their backyard patio is now open. My latest visit to Kaskade was a bit of a reunion of sorts. I enjoyed a marvelous brunch with my dear friends. Although the brunch menu is limited, it had a decent variety of option to choose from. We all enjoyed the burger, which was cooked to perfection. I must say, the chef is excellent. I've never had a bad meal. Period. The chefs attention to details and presentation is superb. The staff can't be left out here because the service is outstanding as well. I can't wait to return for dinner in the coming days. I always might add that they have to-go cocktails and who doesn't love that. I'll end by saying what I said in the very beginning, Kaskade never disappoints.

The chickens are the freshest they can be, humanely raised and prepared with great care. And it shows in the dish that arrives at your table which is a chicken with roasted potatoes that is greater than the sum of its parts, filling and worth exactly what you paid. All the other dishes I've had here are equally fresh and beautifully prepared. The bread and butter is not to be missed. The ratatouille is amazing and will convert a veggie hater. I recently tried their beet salad and could not stop eating it. What I really come here for is the riz au lait. You might be tempted to get the chocolate mousse, which is of course good, but if you want a great dessert get the rice pudding. It is unlike anything you have had. It's light but decadent, crispy but creamy and a delicious mix of buttery caramel and sweet vanilla with a hit of salt.

The bread and seasonal butter was just cold bread with salted butter. We ordered the rotisserie chicken with haricot vert (green string beans) in a butter sauce. Everything needed salt. It was so bland. Luckily we also ordered French fries which were delicious and would def order again. Overall I do still plan on coming back to try the chicken schnitzel and steak frites. The carbonara wasnt well flavored and the bacon was overly oily fatty and crunchy not really worth $28 as it didn't taste authentic or delicious especially considering how their prices are more expensive than other well known competitors next door. The truffle pasta they charged as "custom" $32 but came out looking so strange in a color I've never seen before and was the strangest off truffle smell ever. The taste did not help it any better, had to throw it away. It was by far the most expensive "truffle" dish I've ordered that was by far the worst. Overall not sure what to make of this incredibly pricey meal that was one of the worst meals we've had, and it was agreed upon by me and my guest and we've never both agreed a meal was this bad before. I'm sure they're trying their best but some improvements definitely need to be made either on price or quality or both.

The oysters were delicious although I must say there was a lot of shell pieces inside, which was very annoying to eat. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of whoever is shucking them. I noticed the oysters they serve have a lot of thin slivers of shell on the edges which are bound to end up in your mouth. Perhaps they can try serving another variety of oysters? Just a thought. The chardonnay was pretty good and service was amazing. The girls at the bar also let me try the Ten Bells red wine which is produced specially for them in Boudreaux, France. It was a beautiful, light, and smooth red blend. As a wine lover, I will definitely be back to try more of their wines on tap.
