This is one of those places where you happen to stumble upon it during your ventures and you can't resist because they have a display board outside advertising $11 spritzes. Which is precisely what happened to us. Bistro So is so open and airy, it was a worthwhile treat to just sit there in the outdoor spacing and people watch. We ordered an aperol spritz, a st germain spritz and a glass of orange wine to split and spent hours just vibing and chatting. The orange wine was very reminiscent of a white wine. And my St. Germain was a perfect balance of sweet and floral. For $18 for 1.5 drinks, its well worth a visit to at least savor some libations during the summer!

Quite overpriced for what you get. Plenty of other French restaurants in the area that offer a similar vibe for the same price. The food wasn't that impressive either. Ordered the steak as my main - solid flavor but was quite chewy. Staff were really friendly, though. Don't have a great reason to return unfortunately.

Incredibly sexy restaurant with great food and a great staff. Came one night with a group of friends and had a great time. I had the escargot and she ordered the steak au pouv (spelling). The steak was perfectly cooked and the escargot was tender. The mixology was great too. Will be back soon

Very cute place with more seating in the back but a bit more intimate in the front. Very shocked at how great the ravioles were, given it was a vegetarian option! The service was great, the drinks were also great, but unfortunately couldn't remember the names. We also got free shots at the end so that's always a nice plus! The cheese board was good for appetizers too.

FF w sauce and crab cakes, super yummy!

I stopped in for a happy hour in this cute Williamsburg spot with a great view of the block and a breeze had a happy hour drink and really great crabcakes, but I love the peppercorn sauce with french fries. The most super delicious my bartender Caye was awesome.

Big corner restaurant with beautiful back patio and cool atmosphere. Friendly and attentive service, with daily happy hour from 5PM to 7PM which includes some small plates and drinks, good deal. As appetizers we had the onion soup which was edible but, in my opinion it lacked flavor, cheese, onion, the bread inside and the traditional dark wine infused thick broth, so I don't think I would order that again. We also had the escargots which were perfect, delicious, the sauce was amazing, enough ratio of garlic and parsley, served with bread perfect combo, I loved them, probably the best dish of everything we tried. For mains we had the truffle mushroom risotto and the mussels in poulette sauce, the mussels were great the sauce delicious the portion reasonable and came with fries, that were very soggy so I focused on the mussels and ordered extra bread. The risotto was good, texture and flavor but the size was really small, definitely not the size of a main course. For drinks we had gin tonic, perfectly made and their happy hour lager which was delicious, generous glass and super cold. I would recommend going and I would come back, definitely try the escargots & the mussels. Seems like a fun place to be on a weekend night.

Super cute little French restaurant in Williamsburg. My boyfriend and I were looking for a wine bar to have a drink before a concert and this place was perfect! Too bad we had dinner prior because everything on the menu looked delicious. They have authentic French dishes like steak au poivre, beef tartare, and French onion soup. They have a happy hour, which we sadly just missed, with $10 glasses of wine and cocktails from 5-7. They have a beautiful outside courtyard with tables for a perfect date night. Cannot wait to visit again!

Tonight I stopped to meet the owner to set up a future brunch event. The owner is pleasant and accommodating. I truly enjoyed our chat. The French onion soup had great cheese pull and was so darn tasty. I ordered a salmon burger before I had the soup and really shouldn't have because the soup was so filling. I decided to taste the burger and fries even though I knew most of it would be dinner for the next day. Well my belly was so happy I did. I ended up finish off the fries. That salmon burger was seasoned to perfection. My compliments to the chef. The vibe was just right. They played great music you can chair dance to or get up and dance. I'll definitely be back. Oh the waiter was super cool and made me honey mustard and gave me creme brûlée to try. I gave him a great tip to show my appreciation.

Highlights (would order again): - Foie gras canelé - $15 each so yes, it's pricey for the size, but it's genuinely delicious. Rich foie flavor with a surprise sweetness that totally works and makes it feel more like a savory-dessert bite than a standard foie app. - Duck pithivier - basically "beef Wellington but with duck," with that flaky pastry moment and deep, cozy flavor. - Desserts: the "canard au citron" lemon meringue is almost too cute to eat (there's a little duck!) and it was my favorite dessert of the night: bright, citrusy, and not too heavy. The yuzu frozen yogurt was clean and refreshing, and the chocolate brownie pie hits the rich/chocolate craving perfectly. Also tried: - Crab crepe - my friend described it as a "Caesar salad wrap with a soggy tortilla in the best way," which was weirdly accurate. Tasty, but texturally soft (know what you're getting). - Honeynut squash bombolini - slightly sweet from the squash, fun little bite. - Pappardelle + agnolotti - comforting, saucy pasta energy (and great for sharing). - Colorado lamb - the only real miss for me: lamb itself was a bit salty, though the sides/sauce situation was delicious. Overall: inventive without being fussy, and everything feels very intentional. Portions are on the smaller/fine-dining side and the prices add up fast, but the execution is strong and the dessert game is elite. I'd come back for the duck pithivier + lemon duck dessert combo alone. They're also known for their duck which is a massive portion for $120 or $150 (I forgot the price) - have heard this is incredible so will need to come back to try that as well. Service was also great. Definitely deserve the Michelin star.

Started with the carpaccio- I never eat mushrooms and this is the dish I'd come back here for. Fantastic. Every bite was amazing. The short rib pasta (agnolotti)- perfect portion and blend of flavors. And the star of the show, the crown of duck... perfect. The presentation and flavor.. the parsnip that came with it was also a favorite. Ended the evening with the canard au citron.. not a fan of sweets but this was very lemony and not too sweet. All in all, outstanding.

The host had even set a table aside for us with coloring pages (based on the mural on the opposite wall, which they loved realizing). Everything was absolutely perfect. The Gougère (a cheese puff pastry) was airy, light and I loved it, more than anyone else at the table. The fried artichokes were more broiled (tasted healthier) and came in a slightly acidic tahini sauce. The sauce was a light layer on the dish instead of on top to keep the brussel sprouts from getting soggy. I got the moules frites, fantastic, no notes. My son got the kids steak and fries which came with a salad he ate first. The price ($22) for a "kids" meal seemed steep, but the steak alone was probably worth the price, and actually seasoned. This is the type of kids meal that builds kids who actually like food. We got some zero cocktails (not enough sleep to drink and travel the next day) and they were great. If I'm at the NU hotel again, this is going to be a must stop place. Total bull was 222 (before tip) for 3 adults and 2 kids. So expensive, but well worth it, and honestly not terrible for NYC standards.

I was torn between the smoked trout scramble and the Nicoise but without olives since I'm not a fan but on the waiter's suggestion I ordered the Nicoise. Not a knock on the waiter at all but the olive aioli that he said was on it tasted way too olive-y for me so I had to send it back and ordered the scramble instead! I also had a small piece of the socca bread and wasn't a fan. There wasn't a lot of smoked trout in it but pairing it with the hash brown or spread on the toast was the best move for flavor profile. Overall a decent experience but I wouldn't rush to come back!

Food-wise, everything felt intentional. The menu leans classic French, but it doesn't feel heavy or outdated. The roast chicken is the obvious move for a reason. It's simple, but perfectly done. We were the only customers dining in but there was a steady line of people picking up food to-go. Service was very friendly and the food was great. I got the French Dip Au Jus and my girlfriend got the Brasserie Burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese (cooked medium). My niece is 20 months old so we just decided we'd let her have some bites of our food. The food took a little bit to come out, but I guess that means it really is made to order. I started off with the French Dip and it had a decent amount of meat on it. The bread was nicely toasted and the Jus was super flavorful. My niece actually liked it a lot and dipped her french fries in it. Even without the Jus the sandwich meat was moist and flavorful while the bread did a good job of soaking up the juices and adding crunch. The burger was also surprisingly good. The patty was actually cooked to medium so it was also juicy and flavorful. Mushroom and swiss is an undefeated combo on burgers provided the meat is good, and in this case the meat was quite good. Both entrees came with some fries and greens which were average. We also had black coffee with our food which was pretty good. It's on the pricier side, but it seems to be reflected in the quality of the food. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this spontaneous meal. I would certainly come back.

Village eateries helmed by power-chef duo Jody Williams and Rita Sodi; four are within a block of each other. There are 2 other Buvettes in Asia and one coming soon in London. Buvette does not do reservations. Buvette is a charming but tiny/cramped space, made more tiny within the last year by NYC's removal of pandemic-era street patios which greatly helped dining capacity. Buvette may sometimes have a few front sidewalk tables, and there's a tiny outdoor patio in the back. The tables and dishware are also tiny. There's a kitchen in the back, but some food is also prepared below the bar in front, where there seem to be some ovens. The food seems reliably consistent here. The menu is short but there are daily specials. I ordered a non-alcoholic ginger soda, crab tartine (a special), lobster a l'Americaine (lobster pot pie) and frites. The soda is always on the menu and is refreshing, with a nice snap of ginger. The crab tartine was fab, a fresh crab salad with avocado atop toast. The lobster pot pie was made in the under-bar oven, a small serving of lobster and veggies with a golden puff pastry topper. Delish. The frites were nicely crisp, served with an aioli. Service was okay, but my hot food took about 45 minutes to come out, apparently because my ticket was lost. Overall a pleasant meal, my first during this visit.
