Me and my friend stopped for a quick bite on our visit to area. She is vegitarian so that was the main reason for eating here because they had a good variety for her. We got seated inside because it was too cold outside for us to sit. It was a very small space for my comfort but we made it work. There were lots of tourists eating next to us and a conversation naturally happened between us and the table beside us. I order the french onion soup and the escargot. I really enjoyed the soup because it was hot and cheese; perfect for a cold day like the one we visited. My friend order the veggie burger and she approved. I order the escargot, which I have had in the past so nothing out of the ordinary. The service was fine, we did get water and it was a bit of a wait getting our refill. Had we done our research, we probably wouldn't have tried Bistro des Champs but our experience was better than a 3.5 rating. It just happened to have no wait along the busy Champs-Élysées. We were seated outdoors, facing the crowds. This is a typical setting in France, where people sit towards the street, side by side, instead of sitting across from each other. But since we were right by the crowds, we were approached a couple of times by beggars. Croque Madame: It's really just a ham and cheese sandwich but it's got a layer of melted cheese and an over easy egg on the top. The salad was kind of sad with a couple of wilted leaves. I love these back at home and I wanted to see if it would be any different or better...it was about the same. Moules Au Chablis: I saw a picture of mussels on their billboard and had to get an order. I thought of it as something to share but it came with so many mussels that it's definitely meant for one person's main course. They weren't the most fresh tasting but it was still pretty good. We thought service was slow at the end but it was because they don't normally give your check until you ask for it. Lesson learned! Unless you did your research and found a well known place for lunch along Champs-Élysées, then Bistro des Champs isn't a bad choice for a meal. read more

They have a nice variety of dishes, from meats to poultry to fish to pasta, etc. They even have burgers, if you just can't leave home at home. :-) The ambience is very nice, resembling a more traditional Parisian cafe, and the location can't really be beat. You're walking distance to the Arc de Triomphe, and if you get seat a seat near the doors you have an open view of it. Quite the setting! The only negative was the service. They were good and pretty efficient, but seemed indifferent and not the most friendly. They never did check in on us, and we had to flag them after waiting a while for our bill. A lovely little bistro just down the street from a major Parisian landmark, this place hit the spot for us! We opted for outdoor seating, fully taking advantage of eating and people watching on a busy street. The waitstaff quickly seated my party of six, giving us time to browse their menu. Or should I say a little TOO much time: we waited almost 20 minutes before someone came back to take our order! After a recommendation from our waiter, I chose the Grimbergen beer (DEFINITELY not disappointed with this choice!). As for my meal, I picked the Ravioles du Dauphiné (ravioli in a nice cream sauce, with a lovely parmesan crust on top). My fork made a nice *crunch* sound as I made my way through the dish. Bits of broccoli could be found through the the sauce AND ravioli, which I thought was a nice touch! Both the drink and entree I would highly recommend! A stroll along the Champs Elysee after a visit to the Arc de Triomphe is an eye opener to the extravagances of many. Wonderful shops so, as a treat, we decided to stop off at this bar for a few cocktails. We knew it would be expensive, but damn the expense. It was a treat. Seated people watching and perusing the menu we were surprised at how reasonable the cocktails were priced. Service was friendly and the outside area with heaters was very comfortable. But I've literally had better soup at work, and if my workplace can prepare better french onion soup than the French in France, then that's a problem. Still, not a bad start. It was creamy and oniony, which was a good start! But that's where the good ends. I ordered a minced beef medium rare, and out came a plate prepared by a college student: a beef patty cooked well done, bland, too chewy, topped with an egg, and a few shreds of romaine lettuce on the side. The saving grace was the fries on the side, but for 19€, probably not what you'll consider worth it. My partner got the beef tartar and took a total of 3 bites. Did not finish. Disqualified. The desserts were not what we expected of a Paris bistro ( between the 6 of us, we had the pain brioché façon pain perdu, crème brûlée and fondant au chocolat). Overpriced menu and poor services I came here with my family for dinner after touring around the area. We were sat down with the menu and ordered our food. We waited 30 mins + for our food while the waiter was just running around serving the whole area. They provided very low quality services as we're unable to get the waiter for any services (to get water/ bread). When we were to pay, the waiter asked for 5% tip which was out of our expectation as his service wasn't up to standard at all. I would give this place minus stars if I could. I have travelled the globe for many years and never come across staff and management as rude as the people here. They let me sit down at a table and then ignored me because they didn't think I would spend much money. They didn't have the nerve to tell me that. They just let me sit there. We walked past this restaurant several times before we walked in. The mussels looked incredible and we wanted to try some authentic French cuisine. We were greeted, sat down and given menus. My wife ordered the mussels and I the steak. About 5 minutes later, we ask for water (regular water) but he brings sparkling. He unscrews the bottle but i say regular. He then asks, half liter or liter. I say half. About 5 minutes later, a couple sits down next to us and immediately is given bread and water in a different container. By this point, i've noticed all tables have bread and we have not been offered anything. Another oriental couple sits down to our right, orders and is also given bread. My wife starts talking to the first two people sitting to our left who were now eating escargot. They noticed we have not received our meal and inquired as to what we ordered. The food should not be taking this long they said. I am now getting upset as i am watching the waiting staff serve others as i am watching them through the reflection of the mirror. It has been 40 minutes now and still no food. At this point, my wife gets up and says lets go. I also realize the water they brought me is the water that cost 4.5 euro. The orientals to the right of me are now eating their food and i begin to feel much anger boiling up within me. I stand up, look at the female waitress and the bartender and say, "this is how you treat Americans, just ignoring us like this". The female says, your food is almost here. My wife is walking out as i continue to vent my frustrations at the staff who purposely treated us like peasants. I ordered the croque madame from them. The sandwich was just okay. It was just regularly just eating a regular ham and cheese sandwich. I was expecting the sauce to be on top of sandwich and put more of it on it. The egg on top was a little bit under seasoned. I put ketchup and Tabasco on the side of it to to make it taste a little bit better. The menu it says they have a salad on the side but it's just a bunch of chopped off old lettuce pieces with no dressing on it. Overall it was a bit overpriced but seemed decent for lunch. read more
