Mother's Day dinner on the patio at 4PM. We arrived on time and we were quickly taken to a table set for 12. Since our party was only 6 people we requested a smaller one and we got seated by the waterfall feature. I got the hamburger which was perfectly prepared to my order. The service was quite good. The manager spent time reorienting our table umbrella to provide shade. All in all this restaurant has the most attentive staff I have seen in quite some time. Lunch was not great. Had a reservation, but still had to wait 10-15 minutes. A first. Then they forgot the "turkey" on my turkey club. The pasta salad side was one step up from Suddenly Salad. (Theirs made my mouth numb and tingly in the same way, too.) Their new menu stresses that all their pasta is now "homemade" which is great, but all that fresh goodness was smothered by too many competing spices. Seems like they try harder for dinner than lunch in terms of food quality and service. They need to hire more servers for lunch. Seems like they cut them in half compared to last year. I have previously rated this place 4 stars but after a recent visit, I have reduced that to a single star for one reason. One person in our group ordered her "go to item" that she has ordered on numerous occasions and enjoyed each time. That is, the Tenderloin Meatloaf. This last visit the portions of whipped potatoes and meatloaf were ridiculously small. I really wished I had taken a picture because I cannot adequately describe how thin the slice of meat was or skimpy the scoop of potatoes. I'll try. The meat was not as thick as a ham steak you buy in a grocery store and measured maybe 3 inches by 2 inches. The amount of whipped potatoes was the size of a single scoop of ice cream. I have seen low calorie dietary TV dinners with far more food. To add to the insult of this dish was the fact the "seasonal vegetables" served with this was a spoonful of cubed sweet potatoes. Who serves TWO kinds of potatoes on the same plate? VERY, VERY disappointing. I hope we found this mess on an off day. read more

They have a simple menu of apps, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks. A seasonal drink menu always has new concoctions and there is a solid wine and liquor selection. Some app highlights include spinach artichoke. Dip with crostini's, calamari, and charcuterie board. Gumbo is a popular soup or enjoy a nice wedge salad. (Fun fact..my dad and I always split the salads and they serve it on two plates which I love!) I can't say no to scollops or their chicken dinner but the signature dish at Bishops is the meatloaf. Seriously it's well known around town. Dessert wise you have a traditional St. Louis gooey butter cake but if that's not for you they'll present you the Wheel Of Desserts. Friendly hosts, servers and wait staff make this place a popular go to. I cannot recommend enough going out on their beautiful patio. Came in early on a Tuesday night. Saw a smoked salmon salad on Yelp that I really wanted to try, but they don't make it during dinner. Bartender asked the kitchen, but was told they "put everything away." I find that to be a bunch of bullshit. Nonetheless, ordered the ahi tuna with fingerling potatoes. Something was supposed to be blackened, but I didn't taste spice on anything. Regardless, the tuna was very good, cooked to a perfect medium rare. This was a big tuna steak with a deep purple center. This is probably the nicest patio in St. Louis. Giant canopy with outdoor bar, waterfall, and ample flowers and plants. I got the Cajun chicken sandwich. It was very good. Cajun spices are excellent and chicken was moist. The green beans were decent too. My wife got the salmon and it was also cooked and seasoned perfectly. We reserved the Post Room to celebrate an engagement through Jade, who was very pleasant to deal with. She was willing to accommodate my request for choice of salad, as well as additional guest count from original number. Our server was PmP? (per receipt) and she did a fabulous job keeping drinks filled, dishes cleared, and orders taken timely. I opted to do a pre-fix menu as was told that would be from catering kitchen as opposed to regular kitchen, and possibly more timely, given the restaurant capacity for the evening. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular; maybe next time would go off regular menu/kitchen and take chances that would be served timely. This was my first time dining here. We made a reservation and were able to be seated on the amazing patio! I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was! There is a waterfall, plants, large covered bar area, umbrellas, lights, couches with fire pits, and lots of tables. One of the best patios I've ever seen in the St. Louis area. I ordered the Grilled Scottish Salmon off the lunch menu. It was soooo good! The salmon was cooked to utter perfection and I loved the chili glaze on top! It was served on top of this wonderful mixed vegetable rice pilaf. The menu description didn't do it justice...the veggies were plentiful and such a variety. They were cooked and seasoned well. My recent experiences here have included a baby shower, dinner in the garden area and a recent one in a quiet space. All three were excellent experiences! The baby shower was set up with a buffet in a pleasant separate room. It was a a group of about 25 and the servers handled it with grace and efficiency. The garden area was so pleasant and service was spot on. Most recently, we were seated in a room which was also quiet enough to not have to shout like some restaurants, and the star of the show was the most delicious Chilean sea bass I have ever tasted. I've been here several times over the years. Bishop's is usually a solid good dinner. Sometimes better than others. I heard someone say they had changed owners several times over the years so that explains it. I came in for a birthday dinner with my friends. We sat by the bar (first time) in a high top square table which was perfect because we could be close and talk as loud as we wanted. Bishop's post is a classy place, in the summer their patio is so enjoyable with live music on weekends. We ordered the Chilean sea bass with risotto and asparagus. We asked to share two dinners between 4 people and they were nice enough to place them individually in each plate. It was delicious!!!! We also brought our own cake and they were also nice enough to let us bring it to the table and provide us with to go containers at the end for the leftover cake. We also ordered a round of margaritas which were really good. Towards the end we met the owner and he was so nice! I love it when owners interact with the customers. Lunch on Sunday with daughter and son-in-law took us to Bishop's Post instead of our usual Mexican. This was a nice change. We do have lunch here once in a while and have always had good experiences. We shared some calamari which is always good. Ms T had a Chicken Salad sandwich served on a croissant. There was a ton of shredded style chicken salad on it and it made two good meals for her. Our son-in-law had a great looking burger, loaded with toppings. Our daughter and I each had a special daily sandwich, a Chicken BLT. This was also very good, but was not a BLT. We were not sure what happened because it rang up in the slip as a Chicken BLT. It had no bacon or anything we could identify with "B. It had no lettuce or anything we could identify with "L". It had no tomato or anything else we could identity with "T". It DID have grilled chicken that was moist and tender. It had grilled sweet peppers and pickled red onions as well as some sauce of some kind. It really was very good and we were not unhappy, thinking it was better than a BLT. We never solved the mystery and assume they just changed things. Both of us took half home, because it was half was plenty. Anyway, I think anyone can find something good at Bishop's Post. I think it has lasted in this location about 13 years, which is way longer than their predecessors. The lunch menu offers a selection of good sounding appetizers, salads, soups and plenty of sandwiches. It was a little hard to decide. read more

Well they decided to change up the menu which was a bad idea. I was so disappointed my Brussel sprouts had been cooked differently and they are not even close to what they were. First time at Bishop's Post last night and it was a great experience. We arrived early for our reservation, but were able to be sat right away. Our server greeted us right away to take drink orders & let us know about the evening's specials. We started with the House Smoked Missouri Trout which was very light and flavorful. The horseradish sauce was not too pungent and very complimentary to the light fish. Everyone enjoyed this starter. For our entrees, I enjoyed the Veal & Shrimp. It came with artichokes, tomatoes, asparagus in a lemon garlic sauce with mushroom risotto. Everything tasted fresh and the sauce was not too heavy by any means. My fiancé got the Chilean Sea Bass and absolutely loved it. It was served over a mushroom risotto, fresh grilled asparagus, and had a limoncello sauce. He definitely wished their was more! I also enjoyed the Basil Hayden Manhatten cocktail with my meal. It very well created. After dinner, we were able to move outside and enjoy the beautiful evening on the patio. Simply Extraordinary!! The Mother's Day Brunch was so generous and ~ delicious . It was easy to see that the owners went out of their way to make everything special for the Moms. And, the landscaping on their awesome patio is unparalleled in St. Louis. Who gets to enjoy lunch by a babbling waterfall . It really is beautiful. We have come here and always have eaten outside aside from one time we had drinks and appetizers at the bar. Last night was our 27th wedding anniversary and my husband booked reservations for patio seating. If you ever have a chance to go, and it is a beautiful day, definitely request the patio and I would suggest making reservations ahead of time because it got very busy last night. The outdoor area is stunning. They have huge umbrellas for shade, an absolutely gorgeous garden filled with flowers and a little waterfall. There is an outdoor bar with a big screen tv, so my husband got to watch the hockey playoffs last night. The ambience is 100%....gorgeous! Now for the food ! We have some appetizers we always order and they never disappoint! Baked Spinach & Artichoke dip served with Crostini bread ....delicious. We also always order the Shrimp & Crab Campechana, which is loaded with shrimp, crab and avocado, fantastic! My husband ordered an incredible steak served with street corn on the cob, and I had the pan seared scallops. Both meals were excellent! Being that it was our anniversary they had a little card on our table and we received not just the one, but two comped desserts. The dessert tray was exceptional, with so many choices! I went off of my regular choices last night to try the bread pudding while my husband had caramel cheesecake.... Both were delicious! The owners are very friendly and they jumped right in to helping and talking to people! They each stopped by a few times to make sure we were enjoying our dinner and even took some pictures for us by the garden before we left. This is an incredible restaurant with a touch of paradise! Although we have never eaten in the inside dining room, it looks beautiful. I would highly recommend coming here. When we got home, it was like returning from paradise.... I am very respectful to service workers, yet often encounter bad customer service in STL... NOT HERE. They were very attentive and helpful, very nice first impression. It was my birthday and they welcomed me with a welcome card and multiple people wished me a happy birthday. They even gave me a free dessert. The food was just delightful. The wings pictured were $18 and off the bat I was already thinking they were not going to be worth the price. I was wrong! The wings were crispy, fresh, and plump. Very worth the money. The penne pasta was delicious, I had never tried a Bolognese sauce before and it did not disappoint. This pasta had steak medallions, sausage, and beef in the sauce. It came with a full size ceasar salad because it was the nightly special. I wish this was a part of the permanent menu. Next, the mashed potatoes were okay, they tasted like there were drowned in butter, and lacked seasoning. My husband, sister, and I went to Bishops Post for New Years dinner and it was perfect! We made reservations well in advance and when we arrived we had ab option to have a booth or table. We opted for a booth and in the room we were in there were probably five other tables. It was not too loud, which is always a plus. We had calamari as our appetizer and it was delicious. My sister and I chose the special Chilean Sea Bass and my husband has the tenderloin meatloaf. It was all DELICIOUS! We all had left overs to enjoy today! One daughter had fried chicken which was good; she substituted green beans for street corn. Said the corn's coating was too thick, she could barely taste the corn.
