I attended a fundraiser for Hope 4 Paws Rescue. The owner said we can bring 4 foster dogs for adoption and we can use the outdoor patio. We had many people wanting to order food and plenty of drinks. The rescue paid to have a singer at the event as well. When we got to Bishop's Post the owner changed his mind. He made us go to the tiny bar area without enough seating for everyone. The owner also decided he was not donating any portion of food or drink sales to the rescue. Once myself and the others were told that the money we spend at the restaurant will not go towards helping the dog rescue, we left. I will never step foot in Bishop's Post again. I would recommend nobody patronize this establishment read more

So I just was at Bishops post and participated in a costume contest for Halloween. It was supposedly going to be judged by the audience clapping and when I went up I had the obvious loudest applause than anyone else but did not receive anything. All the regulars won the prizes. There was even 2 third place winners and a tie for first place. I wasn't in any of it. A few people came up to me and said I should have won or at least gotten something! So it wasn't just me. I originally only gave them 1 star but changed it to 2 because my waitress was nice. read more

So disappointing. My spouse and I are new to Chesterfield and are both working at Barnes Jewish Hospital, thus we are trying an ample amount of new restaurants here as of late. Tonight, we arrived early for our reservation at 6:05 for a 6:30 reservation. We were seated promptly at 6:10. Our server, whom I will not name, greeted us very quickly. Introduced themselves, suggested menu items, delivered waters, and then we reported we needed one moment to select either a bottle of wine or each our own individual cocktails. It took 15 minutes for the server to return to our table. We visibly saw the server moving all around us and in that 15 minutes we made eye contact twice and on the third time mentioned we were ready to place our order. At this point we had our cocktail, hors d'oeuvre, and entree order prepared. Once placed our hors d'oeuvre arrived before the cocktails, server reported "bartender was busy." The time is now 7:30PM. The two entrees were a filet and ribeye. Steaks arrived undercooked. My spouse regretfully indulges in a Medium Well temperature "leather" and I myself enjoy a nice warm, red center that oozes with juicy, beef-forward flavor, a.k.a Medium Rare. Both steaks were around 2 inches thick making for the medium well steak to come out Medium Rare, and the medium rare steak to come out barely rare. The two steaks were extremely chewy and the outsides were burnt. We refuse to complain as who knows how long it would take to get our steaks cooked to the correct temperature after already waiting over an hour. Needless to say we were very disappointed. You could get a better cooked steak at Texas Roadhouse. We unfortunately will not be back. As well as, will be spreading word to not dine at this establishment and fear of suggesting our friends have a wasted evening. read more

Tried the place out for happy hour and was definitely not disappointed. Even with the limited happy hour specials menu, there were nice wine, draught, and drink options. We had the potato skins - pretty typical fare, but had just the right amount of cheese and bacon without being particularly greasy. Also ordered the spinach/artichoke/portabello sliders which were excellent. A sort of veggie-patty with horseradish, distinct flavors, on a fresh bun. Big quantity. Not too loud, not too crowded, fast service. Will be back for dinner soon. read more

We had an event at this location and were very pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. From the venue to the event planner and staff that worked our party. As well as the food and drinks. It all went swimmingly and we couldn't have been more pleased. We would definitely do it again here. Great job!! read more

Had a great late lunch on the outdoor patio, which features a beautiful waterfall. I had the grilled chicken with rice pilaf and lightly breaded brussel sprouts with bacon and onions. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the brussel sprouts were out of this world. We finished with a tasty bread pudding with a light caramel sauce. Great service and great food! We'll definitely be back! read more

I'll start off by stating that the meat they served me was raw. I got food poisoning. All 4 of us got sick. We had reservations, but they couldn't find napkins to put the water on, so we had to wait...and wait. We arrived at 5:30, and were served food about 7pm. The staff tried all this fancy stuff, but mainly just succeeded in looking dumb. I found the staff to be lacking in professionalism. They charged us more than $48, including a 20% gratuity for a 5:30pm meal for 4 people, then wanted a tip. The prices are outrageous! $12 for a little burger that was undercooked and tasted terrible. We had a burger, 2 kids' meals (mac and cheese and a cheeseburger) and a soup of the day. They went on and on about a waterfall, which is just water dripping down a few rocks outside. If you're looking to get sick on overpriced food that tastes badly, served in a dimly-lit, ugly room by inexperienced servers, I guess you've found your eatery. read more

My wife an I went for our 8 year anniversary Tuesday 7-13 and I was disappointed, 2 salads 2 entrees 2 drinks 110.00 and I wasn't wowed! Meatloaf was excellent, ambiance was fantastic, salads were decent, scallops were disappointing, drenched in something similar to BBQ sauce and service was mediocre. Water was refilled after the meal. Regulars were treated like VIP's and as a first timer I felt non-existent, the owner knew it was our anniversary and our first visit and acknowledged it at the hostess stand and that was it, he never came to check on us. Waiter had been there 2 years but I never would've guessed that unless I asked. Experience was just okay. Water wasn't refilled until after the meal. I mean it wasn't a Saturday and patio was about 75 % filled I would say. Patio sells for sure, menu is small which I like but my 1st choice was the special lamb chops and was was sold out on a Tuesday at 6 o'clock. My next 2 choices were meatloaf and fried chicken. It appears they do a great job with comfort food and struggle with upscale fare. For a 38.00 scallop dish, sweet sauce and smoke were the hero and they were gritty. Everything I heard around town was that it was an epic experience, I disagree! Ordinarily I tip 25 %, this time I tipped 20%, truthfully it barely warranted 15%! Owner and servers are getting paid on ambiance because they sure aren't killing it with service and cuisine. read more

Kayla (sp) was very nice & personable. She even brought out a sample of sauce we enquired about even though we didn't order the special it came with. We ordered the shrimp & grits, pork shank, bone out chicken & a turkey burger. The food was a little slow on arriving to our table, but Kayla kept checking on us. All meals were thoroughly enjoyed. Manager came by & enquired about our experience as well. We will definitely be back. read more

We ordered the Friday Fish Lenten special. Tempura fried cod, fires and coleslaw. It was delicious. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. During this interesting time it is important to support local restaurants. We will be returning to curbside pickup often. Thanks for the Bishops Post for staying open and providing curbside pickup! read more

Seriously Outstanding. Lets start at the ending: Talented dessert chef presents his best: Wow. Great Happy Hour with serene waterfall next to patio. Steaks, salmon, scallops. A+ A Four cheese grilled cheese with Heirloom tomatoes and bacon. And those same cheeses end up in Mac and Cheese to go. Also great for events....we had a rehearsal dinner there. Only nits..not much pastrami on the grilled pastrami sammy, and romaine not so green on the Caesar salad. And if you don't know the Hockey history and Chesterfield history of this place.... Now you will. read more

We held a birthday dinner here for 20 guests and I cannot say enough how perfectly it went. For starters, we met with the GM, Dan, well in advance to discuss food and drink options. He was very thorough and helpful despite meeting us during business hours. On our event day, we had a dedicated server, Jade, who was nothing short of amazing. She was there early to setup the entire room, from decorations and candles to folding napkins. She waited on our entire party of 20 for a cocktail hour and then for dinner and it was almost as if she had a couple clones. Truly excellent service. The food menu was perfect because of its breadth of options. Everyone commented on what a wonderful experience they had. I will be back for dinner many times. read more

I came here for the first time with my friend on Saturday afternoon and I loved it. We sat outside and it was beautiful, they have a little waterfall type situation built into the landscaping and it's so pretty and relaxing. Our server was wonderful and she recommended I get blackened chicken on my house salad and it was amazing. So good. We were there early so it was quiet and starting to pick up when we left: I will absolutely come back again. I live in the city so it's not close but I'll make the drive for another pleasant evening like I had on Saturday:-) read more

My husband and I came in for dinner on Sunday night 10-14-18. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who was very polite. We were then seated and greeted by the lovely manager , Robin. She was very personable and professional and checked on our table in a timely manner. We had a delicious Seafood medley appetizer, which I highly recommend. Our waitress, Courtney, was also lovely. To me it appeared that the restaurant was well run and in tune with each other. I believe that has a lot to do with the management. We will definitely be back. I will recommend and we truly enjoyed Robin. read more

Fun place, good atmosphere. Menu not too large or too small but I did think the food selections were too far apart in price range. So you could get something for 10 dollars or 40 dollars. Regardless the food was good. Our server was new but otherwise food on time, as promised, no complaints. Manager was also engaged to make sure we had a good time. I had the lamb which was great. Wife had shrimp and grits, kids had burgers. read more

Bishop's Post is a refreshing change from the line of big box chain restaurants surrounding the chesterfield area. We took my wife's family there for west county restaurant week to try the new location. Overall we were impressed. The atmosphere is upscale, but not fancy and even thought we didn't sit at it there was a long, spacious, and comfortable bar. Our server was friendly, and our service was relatively timely considering 90% of everyone in the restaurant was ordering the same 4 things. Unfortunately it was pouring rain, otherwise we definitely would have utilized their GIANT patio which looked awesome from the inside. The food was excellent, instead of bread and butter to start like every other restaurant on earth they start you with sweet potato chips and an onion dip. 2 baskets among 6 people were gone pretty quick. We all share appetizers which were all excellent including the arancini, tenderloin bruschetta, and house salad. The tenderloin bruschetta was delicious, but it was really just cheese and beef on a crustini. As far as the entrees went they had some eclectic selections such as quail breast in a lemon butter sauce, that's what I had and it was fantastic. My wife ordered the prime rib, and for restaurant week you generally expect the smaller portions... well apparently they didn't get the memo because she got what looked like a 16 oz. piece of prime rib that was practically falling off the plate. Overall the rib was cooked ok, and the flavor was above average, but well worth it for the meal. Dessert was a gooey butter cake and a kahula chocolate cake. Both were delicious. My wife did the wine pairing with her meal and 3 full glasses of wine, all were excellent. Bishop's post did not disappoint and if you're a movie goer at the mall, just doing to some shopping, or just work in the area this would definitely be my after spot location for a drink or a meal. read more

Terrific meal. We got cheaper main courses but cost of 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 2 desserts was about $60. I would recommend the lobster mac and cheese for sure. I can see myself coming back. read more

This review is a long time coming. My wife & I came for a date night and the experience was excellent from the moment we walked in. The waiter "John" was awesome helping us with our diner selections. I finally decided to try Bishop's Post on Friday night. I was unaware that they had happy hour specials until 7 so I was excited I got to try the ap at a discount. The trout was pretty tasty and is supposed to be smoked in house. My criticism is with the accompaniments. The capers were clearly the lowest quality available and the rye was just meh. I feel like the quality of the dish was lessened by the side items. I also was not a fan of the horseradish cream sauce. I understand it's easier to just use what goes with the prime rib but it over powers the capers and onion when a simple cream cheese would do. Next I ordered the Caesar salad and, although fresh tasting, wasn't worth the 8. If the entrees were at a lower price point I could see making up margin with higher cost salads but not the case at BP. I ordered the prime rib for my main and was very happy it came with fresh carrots and green beans as veg was not listed as a side item. They were barely cooked (perfection) and had just the right amount of herbed butter. The baked potato was okay by I'm not really a fan of them. The meat itself was massive and tasty. My concern with it is that although delicious it seemed to be covered in a red wine or had been marinated in a red wine because the texture for mid-rare was way off and the red juice was not natural to a once living mammal. It was still delicious but made me question the cut, quality, and age of meat used. For dessert I ordered the white chocolate bread pudding which was tasty but definitely not a bread pudding or taste like white chocolate. Thankfully the berries used were in season and easily stole the show. I am disappointed I wasn't offered any of the homemade chips. Many other reviews rave about them and I don't know if I'll ever go back. Now for what knocked them down the stars: one controllable, one not. The controllable complaint was the service. They need more staff. Period. I was there a ridiculously long time and other patrons who wanted cocktails while they waited for their tables became frustrated and walked away frequently. The bar tender who served me was also overly fake, kinda creepy, and was trying too hard to sound fancy. My appetizer was not deconstructed anything and I hardly felt like there was contrast in the dessert. Also, the age old "I don't say it often but I mean it when I say that it was an absolute pleasure serving you" was over the top considering we had only the necessary encounters and they were awkward at best. The uncontrollable complaint was the patrons. The who I assume to be regulars were loud and obnoxious and the median age of the guests was at least 55 or 60. I get it, going to an expensive restaurant in chesterfield is a gamble at my age (almost 30) but it was just uncomfortable and I felt judged by the regulars. What this place needs is a juicer at the bar in order to make classic, tasty cocktails where freshness not fancy is the key. I spent much of 2013 in Sydney and I miss the fresh juices most places used in drinks. I longingly stared at the bottle of Bulliet rye on the back bar wishing they had super tart, fresh apple juice with which to mix it. read more

Changes from new owner (Mark) will destroy this place. Mushy pan fried chicken, blue plate specials, and firing of staff that we have come to love has sent us to Yia Yia's and Balabans. Food is inconsistent every time we visit, sometimes good, sometimes ok, tonight...awful. For well over $100 for two people I expect better. A place that we want to love (and have when it was Aqua Vin, Andrias, etc) we now are boycotting. Even when we noticed the food went bad, we loved sitting at the bar with Corey, our favorite bartender. He no longer works there, so we now have no reason to return. There are too many other good choices in the area to waste your time here. read more

Saturday night was a perfect evening to enjoy patio seating and Bishops Post clearly has the best patio in West County. Our table for three was the best part of our evening. We asked if it was okay if we shared food as we were looking to sample the menu and it was a late dinner, 8:30 pm and we wanted to eat light. We were assured it wasn't a problem. From the start our server was flustered. When he greeted us his first question " would you like to start with a cocktail?" I'll admit it's a reasonable question except when all three of us have full drinks that we carried in from the bar sitting in front of us. His offer to bring water was appreciated but it took 15 minutes for that to appear. He was rushed to take our order and when we said we needed a few minutes it took him forever to return.... Our drinks had been sitting empty before he returned to check on us. We each started with a salad, Caesar was good, wedge was by far the best and the caprese was a huge disappointment. Visually it looked beautiful but had ZERO taste. There was no basil just two small pieces of chive... Menu description said basil and red onion. The worst part was that the generous slices of heirloom tomato were tasteless. They must be committing the mortal sin of tomato storage and refrigerating them as the salad was quite chilled. I salt and peppered away but nothing could wake up the flavor of those tomatoes, such a shame when they are in season. We opted to order and share 2 apps and one entree. We asked for salads first and then to have the other food follow , to shared as entrees. It took a very long time to get the salads and we had barely started them when the rest of the food appeared.... Still waiting on our second round of drinks that were always "on their way" Presentation was great on everything served but again no flavor. Calamari was cold, unpleasant for fried food, carpaccio was accompanied by very salty bread which overtook any flavor there may have been. Shrimp and grits were the best part of the meal... Small detail, they knew were were sharing and we had to flag down someone to bring a spoon so we could eat it...again we waited and watched as the temp on that entree dropped. I think it would be a lovely place to sit and enjoy some drinks but I'd pass on the food there was nothing about it that would inspire me to eat there again. Finally we had a VISA gift card they wouldn't honor, still wondering about that one..I have never had a VISA gift card refused at any retail or restaurant that accepts VISA cards. It didn't make sense and in hindsight was the "perfect" ending to an imperfect evening. read more

We had our first visit to Bishop's Post a couple of days ago. I found it to be exceptional and we finally have a place in Chesterfield that is in the same class as Annie Gunn's, though with it's own unique character. We tried the shrimp and grits and the pork chop. Both were exceptional and would rival anything you can get in five star restaurants in other cities. The chef Dave Rook has done a great job in putting together a unique and creative menu without pretension. We are looking forward to going back. read more

Came here for a business lunch on a rare nice day (warm and sunny!) and sat on the patio. No one else was out there, but I have no idea why, since it was lovely! Our waiter was Lexi H. Ugh. What a sweetheart. Big fan. It was a marvelous experience and would 1000% go again. Only one thing, it is expensive, but well worth it. However, the only complaint is the creme brûlée was very over cooked and so was the fried chicken. Yet still, a lovely time and atmosphere and I reminisce often. Also bus boy 10/10. read more

Have been there twice recently and both times received undercooked meat. Won't take a chance the 3rd time.

Not my cup of tea. Recommend by friend as good comfort food. The menu choices were not what I was expecting. Overpriced for the portion size. The menu is a bit overwhelming for someone like myself who has simple tastes. I ended up getting a salad because nothing else sounded good. The salad was tasty, however. read more

Seating was a little shakey but the server and food made up for it. Dinner was spot on and well worth the price.

The patio is fantastic on a warm evening! The service was excellent and accommodating. The owner was working the room/patio and kept the staff on their toes, but I think our server would have been helpful and attentive regardless of who was around. I ordered the goat cheese and tomatoes coulis appetizer which was supposed to come with bread but I ask for veggies instead and the chef diagonally sliced celery into bite-sized pieces and it was fantastic! The combo of the cool crisp celery and the warm goat cheese-tomato mix was really tasty. I then ordered the smoked salmon salad which was good but not a favorite. The portion was nicely sized and the amount of salmon, bacon and other toppings was definitely more than expected. What I would have liked was more of the spinach leaves to balance out the toppings. There were maybe 8 or 10 spinach leaves total, which if you prefer more toppings than lettuce this sald is perfect for you, but I prefer more of a balanced salad. The flavor combo was just ok. Honestly the salmon had almost too much of a smoked taste and without the spinach to balanace it out it was a bit overwhelming. Overall, it was a good meal and the service was great, but I would not order that salad again. read more

Clams and mussels app was so delish. Plenty for two to share. Wedge salad dressed just right, good amount of bleu cheese, bacon, and red onion. Split a mid-rare ribeye, got and extra baked potato. the green beans and carrots were cooked perfectly. Tried the Sunday $20 fried chicken, it is SO.GOOD. Go. You will love it. p.s. Great wine list. read more

This is the first time we tried Bishop's Post. I was surprised at the menu, because they call their food "classic comfort fare", but I felt it was a bit more upscale. They provide you with homemade chips and onion dip. I thought that was weird, but the onion dip is delicous. We shared the lamb lollipop appetizer. It was huge - we got 4 small lamb chops. This was enough for an entree. I then had a cup of their gumbo which was very spicy and their iceburg wedge which I was offered the option of having it prechopped. My husband had the duck which he thoroughly enjoyed. I hope this restaurant does well and I plan on coming back. If you can, get a table in the back patio where there is a large waterfall. Our waitress was nice and she even gave us a free dessert to take home. read more

Salad--Small and we thought over priced. Gumbo Soup--I could hardly eat this $10 bowl of soup. I found it to be way over spiced (and I eat a lot of hot Indian food). I did not enjoy it at all. Tuna--tasteless. Salmon--OK Wine by the glass--we thought it was over priced based on the amount of wine. If you are supposed to get bread with the meal, they forgot it. You get sweet potato chips as soon as you come in. read more

10 minutes before someone stopped by our table. Squash undercooked and halibut was so so. The crab cakes were good, nice spicy flavor to them. This location has turned over numerous times over the years. With the level of service and quality of food I don't expect this place to last. read more

What a gem for Chesterfield! In a land dominated by chain restaurants, BIshop's Post is a refreshing spot for date nights. The bacon-wrapped shrimp was flavorful. The salads were fresh. Perhaps it was the menu choices my friend and I made but we were not that impressed. The roasted vegetable fritata was okay but the accompanying fresh fruit could have been riper. The nicoise salad had the saltiest black olives which seemed rather dried out also. Then the waiter dumped the coffee cream onto the table thankfully not getting any on us. The hostess would go around and ask people how everything was but skipped our table twice (we figured she was afraid of what we would say). The waiter called us honey and sweetie -- which we both hate. I think you must have to stick to the comfort foods on the menu as when we left we saw folks with pulled pork sandwiches which looked good. It was out of the way for me so I doubt I'll try it again. read more
