We booked a table for 6 on Open Table. Excellent service, great atmosphere. The food was excellent. Smoked Trout app was just as good as Annie Gunn's which we love. We had a wide variety of dishes and all were great. The Filet is truly a prime filet. Hope this place sticks around! It was too cold for the patio, but I have sat out there before and it's beautiful. read more

Had lunch here and it was very good. I had the lunch special, Salmon grilled cheese with a side salad. They have a great wine selection and their cocktails looked yummy. The best part of this location is the seclusion and green space you feel while dining on the patio. It was awesome and very tranquil. The restaurant is beautiful and has lots of space for large parties. We had the pumpkin bread pudding for dessert with cinnamon ice cream and it didn't disappoint. read more

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. - Walked in with 3 associates, the place was dead with the exception of a few tables of people in the bar area and a few in the dining room area. Hostess told us there was no room in the (near empty) dining area and asked that we seat ourselves in the bar area, which we were fine with. We sat at a table that had more seats than our 4 person group and was then told that table was reserved (no reserved sign on the table.) For some reason, they did not want our business.. their loss. Big tippers. Will NEVER go there again!!! read more

6 of us went there at 6:00 on a Wednesday evening. After promptly being seated we waited 10 minutes and finally asked a busboy if we had a waiter. Shortly thereafter a man showed up apologizing saying he was in the kitchen polishing silverware and that he would be our waiter. He promptly stated that they were out of prime rib (a staple on their menu). After ordering drinks the bartender came out to ask my wife how to make a champagne cocktail. Throughout the meal service was poor, although feeble attempts were made to make up for the lack of quality. Upon receiving the check I noticed that the drink special i ordered, a $10 Manhattan, i was charged $11 for it. I only give this 2 stars because the food was better than average. It was also a bit overpriced. read more

Hands down the best food I have ever had. The steak and scallops are to die for, and the desert menu was amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Only 5 tables occupied. After waiting 15 minutes, had to ask hostess to find us a waiter/waitress. Poor quality food for the price. Skip the Sunday brunch. Food over salted. Shrimp risotto served with greasy brown gravy? Frozen style hash brown cubes served with the eggs bene. read more

I'm going to give this a four, but it's probably more a three and a half for me. Went at 5 pm on a Saturday with my parents. The place was empty so seated right away, I enjoyed the atmosphere. We had lots of attention from the bus boys but the waitress was a bit on the slow side. They brought out sweet potato chips and Idaho potato chips with a Maui onion dip for the table and they were not stingy with it as some places can be, they refilled it without being asked. I enjoyed the dip a lot but was a little disappointed that chips were not warm. I ordered a moscow mule which I thought was a pretty tasty drink and served in the correct copper mug they are traditionally served in. I had the chicken lasagna which was good but a little over cooked causing chewy noodles. My dad had the fried chicken which he said was nice and moist and cooked perfectly. The chicken looked light and crispy not oily at all. My mom had the Shepards pie, which was more like a beef stew with dollops of mashed potatoes on top. The flavor was really excellent and it had large delicious chunks of beef roast. My mom and dad really enjoyed their meals and intend to return soon. Mine was good, I wouldn't order it again but I would go back to the restaurant and try something else. Over all we thought it was good food for a good price value. read more

Disappointing. Came here for a date night with my husband. We were seated at a table far to large for two people. It made conversation difficult and awkward. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and said it was the worst one he had ever had. Out of several types of liquor. No bread, they claimed there was a rush and they ran out. Our food was not worth the price. Gumbo was average. My green beans were cold and under-cooked. Pork was ok. Other side I didn't care for. My husband's was too hot and he had to wait for it to cool. Wouldn't come back. read more

Living in the area, I have tried every restaurant that has been in the location. Bishop's Post is good, but not great. I wouldn't say that the food is worth the price, but the food is not bad. Everything is pretty "vanilla." The bacon wrapped shrimp was little overdone and for $15 for 3 shrimp, I would say not worth it. Split a Caesar salad which was very good. I had the pork rib chop and my wife had the yellowfin tuna. Both were good, but definitely did not think it was worth the price. Service was amazing though. Our waiter was enthusiastic and the rest of the staff was on top of their game. Might go back one day, but nothing to rush there for. read more

Great juicy burger. Crispy fries. Wanted a beer but still working. Jake at bar is super efficient and Darlene is charming as ever. Place is clean, friendly and inviting. Perfect for a late lunch and all for eleven bucks. Thanks. John Dalton read more

Bishop's Post - Great burger. Crispy fries. All for $11. Jake at the bar was fantastic and Darlene is always super sweet. - American Near Me - Chesterfield, Missouri

I'm a fan of this place. Great service and atmosphere. I visit quite often for lunch and every once in a while for dinner. Consistently great service and never a bad meal. Sometimes I have special off menu request and they are always willing to go the extra mile. read more

Went for happy hour and the food wasn't bad at all, the prices weren't either. Bartender was extremely nice and attentive. 3 stars for now, will have to come back for dinner. read more

First let me say that the food I had at this restaurant was good. The service was very good. But I can't say that their food is anything really special. We went for lunch and I had the Harvest Salad and my companion had the Caesar Salad. We both had a bowl of the bean with bacon soup as a starter. As I said, it's not that the food wasn't good or that the service was less than it should be I just didn't think "Wow! That was awesome. I'd go back again for that." In fact, I was kind of underwhelmed by the lunch menu. Maybe I should try going there for dinner and have something more substantial. I just think that since they advertise their food as "American Comfort food" they could be a little more inventive with both their lunch and dinner menus. I'd go and give them a second chance. read more

Food was okay but more disappointed in the level of service. Our waitress was rude and didn't seem to know wine or the menu. Not a fan.

This has become our favorite go-to restaurant. The food is excellent. The cheeseburger, grilled salmon, and Caesar salad are our staples, but we enjoy trying other items off the Happy Hour menu like the deviled eggs, tacos and flatbreads. We love the live music! The service is exceptional. Liz is their crown jewel! She is always upbeat, friendly, running circles around the place and still always has a beautiful smile and a warm attitude! read more

Had a long dinner here a few weeks ago. Service was great and the ambiance was good. Food was well prepared. We had a great dinner and will surely return again. A rare locally owned restaurant which shows that someone cares and pays attention. read more

Always amazing! The wine menu is the best in St. Louis and the food is delicious. Every server is gracious and takes great care of us. Wonderful place to visit! read more

Went to an event today st Bishops Post. Most difficult owner/management staff to work with that I have ever experienced.. They changed the event from our planned outside to inside and complained twice about the singer in the designated bar area. Not very accommodating whatsoever Lots of money walked through the door today but we were treated crappy. I will say our server-Amanda was awesome! She was very busy but kept her cool and was on top of things. The food was ok.... nothing to write home about. For a special event I suggest not going there.. Try other local eateries such as Coopers Hawk, Bristol's or Edgewood..... get good service, food and respect. read more

Fantastic food and service. Amazing outdoor dining area. Once you are outside, you'll forget you are near a mall. So much of the food is homemade. Overall great experience. read more

What a great dinner experience!! Very attentive and professional wait staff; awesome food; and priced proportional to product. A fun experience. read more

This place is nice but it's beige throughout. No one strenuously objects to beige. I must say that I agree with other Yelpers that for some reason this establishment is for lack of a better word...boring. The food was decent. Our server was knowledgeable and delightful. The dining room was clean and airy. Everything was acceptable, non-offensive and actually serene. We were just hoping for a little more ZiZ. Instead, there was just not much to write home about. I can't quite put my finger on it ... read more

Really good lunch. Prime rib was excellent. Smoked bbq incredible and the burger divine. Returning soon.

It's an awesome place for dinner and happy hour. Their food is exceptional! We went for Mother's Day ! We had an excellent server with excellent service. It's a great family restaurant! Don't waste your time. I had shrimp and grits. GRRAT flavor, but should have been listed as, shrimp & grits soup. Calamari salad, tortilla strips have more calamari meat, then Bishops did. There were ants all over, though manager said, we are working on it. Unless we ordered the wrong thing, not worth the money. read more

What a let down. I made a reservation days in advance for Saturday night. I mentioned in the reservation notes that it was my wedding anniversary. When we arrived the hostess immediately said "sorry about this, the table we have for you isn't great." She was right. It was a makeshift pop up table right outside of the kitchen entrance. Very loud. I asked if we could wait for another table to open up and she said that there were many people ahead of us and it would be a long time. Good thing I had a reservation....? I ordered a Moscow Mule, which is on their specialty cocktail menu, but apparently the bar had run out of ginger beer. I also noticed that multiple tables had opened up within 10-15 minutes of us being sat, and many other people were sat at normal tables. The server did a good job of getting us everything we needed in good time, but that's where it ended. I've had more personal service experiences at Cracker Barrel. Absolutely no warmth or personal interaction. The food was pretty good. The gumbo was very good. I ordered the filet and it was a great piece of meat, cooked well, but lacked seasoning to make it pop. I've eaten great steaks at a lot of places. Even the most casual restaurants double check to make sure the steak temperature is to my liking. Thankfully it was, but the server never bothered to ask. I won't give it a one star review because the food was decent and the server got us everything we needed, but I won't go back to Bishops Post. I've got 4 kids, and an opportunity for a date night for my wife and I rarely presents itself. I wish I had chosen somewhere else to spend our anniversary. read more

Had dinner at Bishop's Post for the first time last night, the dinner, service and atmosphere was fantastic. A great date night restaurant.

Great service, but shady characters here. I recognized one of my friends and told my waiter I would pay her bill. Lo & behold, when she's getting ready to leave, she gets a bill...that I already paid. I had to go back and confront both waiters and the manager to get it straightened out. That's messed up. I don't believe I'll ever return to this establishment. But the food was good. read more

This is the former Oceana Restaurant in Chesterfield. Two kinds of entrees....classic and comfort foods. I did like my shrimp and grits a lot. Spicy and good. This was $16 which I did not think was bad but the restaurant was a bit more ordinary than I expected. I would go back however. Waiter was attentive. read more

After reading these reviews, some of them leave me scratching my head. We have been to Bishop's Post regularly and, with rare exception, have had grat meals and enjoy the ambience. We dine out frequently and find that Bishop's Post is consistently good. We have referred friends here and they have all come back with positive remarks. Mother's Day Brunch and Easter Brunch were so well done and the Outside patio area is unrivaled in the area-what a beautiful setting! We had a company function in the private dining room a few weeks agao and Jenna made sure everthing was perfect. Great place to have business meetings as well or just a private party. We will be back. read more

My husband and I had a great experience at Bishop's Post last night! I had the salmon and my husband had duck. Both were fabulous. The staff was also wonderful, especially our waitress Ashley, who provided courteous and prompt service even though the place was packed and she was very busy. Thanks to everyone at Bishop's Post for a nice night out! read more

We were very disappointed. Wanted to try this new restaurant. We were only 2 of 4 people at bar for 5 mins with no acknowledgment and sat there watching 2 bartenders load dishwasher, We left. At least say "hello" and "we will be with you in minute". Bad first impression. read more

Came for brunch with the family. The wine manager suggested a Terrific wine that went really well with the omelettes and French toast. Really great service and the french toast was crisp and done to perfection. They had a dessert buffet with really yummy individual cheesecake. I will totally be back here to try dinner. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here recently. It was very busy since the outdoor patio was closed due to the rain. The outdoor patio is beautiful. My beef medallions were full of flavor. Everything was perfect. Bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. I don't even like cook carrots and they were perfect. Enjoyed my lemon drop martini and chocolate martini. The Kahlua cake was very good a little too sweet for me. Very good food, it is a little pricey. read more

I eat lunch at Bishop's Post one to two times per week..I have found that the personnel are all very friendly, and competent..Brenna, the general manager is a pleasure to watch her do her job and everybody there has nothing but praise for her management style..Chef Dave is excellent and he never disappoints with his food and especially his daily specials and his desserts are to die for...my lunch experience starts with the friendly face of Darlene who is one of the best hostess i have ever seen..she doesnt know a stranger and makes everybody fell welcome read more

Had dinner on the patio this weekend. The setting was great and we had exceptional service. Everyone really liked the food too, the pork chop was especially good! We also tried a couple desserts were were quite tasty as well. Will definitely be going back! read more

Ambiance is nice, looks almost identical to the restaurant that was here before, Oceano's, staff is attentive and nice. As far as the food, a little disappointed in the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer, so much bbq sauce and smoke we couldn't even taste the shrimp. Tasted like a bacon wrapped hot dog or pork honestly. The main entree was the filet and asked for medium and came out medium rare in the middle but at least the outer part of the filet was medium. For $40, you would think they would let the steak get to room temp before cooking in order to get a consistent cook; either that or the fire source needs to be adjusted. On the upside, the linguine with wild mushrooms was very good. However, their batter for their calamari is way to peppery, and I love pepper, so that's saying a lot. Aioli is nice, but it would be nice to have some marinara as an alternative for some, of course, to no avail. Overall, decent, but a bid disappointed in some of the food considering the price. Hope that helps my fellow yelpers, but that's just my opinion, go check it out if you wish. read more

We tried Bishops Post for the first time last night. This place is confusing. Its called comfort food but there is little comfort food on the menu.....where is the burgur??!! The ambiance is boring and more like a high end restaurant and not well aligned with a comfort food atmosphere. Had the beef carpaccio as an appetizer. It was good but came half frozen. The service was very slow throughouut the meal. For dinner had the lasagna and the meat loaf. The lasagna tasted like it was microwaved with a very hot center and was extremely rich...too rich in my opinion. The meat loaf was OK but not worth $25.00!!! We wont be back. read more

First off, it is a beautiful restaurant to dine at. The selection on the menu here is limited to say the least. I would like to see more items on the menu and fries as a side dish would be good for those of us who are picky as far as side dishes go. I had the Spare Ribs which were delicious, but it came with tiny cups of beans, mac n cheese, and creamed corn. The beans and mac were very good, but there simply was not enough for the price. The toffee basket with ice cream and strawberries was quite good. I thought dinner was good, but for the price I was expecting more selection and bigger portions. read more
