A mixed eating experience that's very good when things work but gets muddled with a few disconnects. We ate early ordering sea scallops and fried chicken. The scallops came (not mentioned on the menu as an ingredient) sprinkled with bacon crumbs but the manager was only too willing to replace the entire plate. The chicken was ordered with sweet English peas. Overall, the scallops (with string beans, squash, and carrot caramelized gaze--extraordinaire) were very well prepared, proportioned and paired well with the vegetables and was delicious. The fried chicken was under-seasoned but good as were the mashed potatoes and sweet peas (also sprinkled with bacon). The restaurant is quite beautiful and inviting sitting nestled on the hem of a luscious garden, waterfall and verdant berm. No obtrusive music or TV monitor blare. However, wait staff gathering nearby can be a little noisy. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Service was good but perhaps in keeping with its comfort food theme played a little too casual for our taste. It's expensive comfort food with a few areas where the experience, decor and fare get a little muddled in execution. I found Bishop's Post while searching for a location for my son's rehearsal dinner. I was thrilled to have such a beautiful space, The Garden Room and its adjacent waterfall, for this event. We ate several times at the restaurant before the "big day," and have never been disappointed. From the friendly, chatty bartenders, to the attentive servers, to the host/hostess who stop by to make sure everything is acceptable, you are left feeling that everyone wants you to enjoy your experience. The food is fantastic - and reliably so. My favorite, the bone out chicken is consistently terrific. My guy's favorite is the fried chicken. He raves about it to anyone who listens. It really is that good. A shoutout to Stacey LaBarbera is in order. She made all preparations for the rehearsal dinner easy. She gave ideas on room design, asked a ton of questions, gave lots of food options, and was highly attentive during the actual event. Went with four friends for lunch. The bare bones lunch menu offered few choices. At 11:30a they were already out of the chicken salad for sandwiches, but one could get it on a platter. Odd. Servings were especially small for the trio platter, plus the blob of cheese on the plate was tasteless. My house salad seemed to be from a bag you buy at the grocery. It was overpriced and served with hardly any dressing. Plus it did not set well with me due to the hot weather and lack of ICE in my drink. The lobster roll was served on bread too hard to eat, but the lobster was good. Be aware, bread is not served at lunch time, only at dinner. It was a hot day and condensation from our drinks was all over the table. Coasters were not provided and drink refills came without ICE. I had to ask for ICE. The helper brought a small cup of ice that was shared with four people. But, to top off the overall disappointing meal and service, there was no toilet paper in the women's bathroom! Pre-Covid this place was much better, but now, my advice is don't go for lunch. If you go for dinner be aware of the limited overpriced menu. The birthday treat was good! Attentive service and good food. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday, thinking it was early enough to not need a reservation. However, the excessive heat had closed the patio. Fortunately, the manager came over and said they could squeeze us in before they had to start holding tables for the 7:00 reservations. They had two big parties coming in. The server was very nice, chatty but not overly so, and all staff kept drinks full and dishes cleared. It did take a while for the entrees to arrive though, but that was a minor quibble. The wife ordered a house salad that was pretty large and had an interesting mix of julienne veggies on the lettuce. Grated Parmesan on top was quite generous. My spicy seafood gumbo was pretty good, but the $6 cup was pretty darn small. My shrimp & grits were outstanding. Lot of andouille sausage and pork belly cubes in there, and a good amount of large shrimp, too. At first I only saw three, and was a bit perturbed. But closer inspection revealed six shrimp, which actually filled the dish. Sweet corn and halved grape tomatoes (and cheddar cheese) rounded it out. There was a goodly flavor and spice, but the spice was not hot. The wife's grilled chicken picatta was juicy, with fresh grilled asparagus. She commented on the good & strong lemon flavor that made it zesty. read more

Ambiance is the ONLY thing going for this establishment. Take that back our waitress Nina was nice. She was rushed and seemed totally overwhelmed. We LOVE trying new places to eat. This was not a good experience. Our reservation was at 6. We were there a few minutes early. It took 15 minutes for the hostess to show up at the front to greet us. Seriously, it was the dinner hour and there was NO ONE at the front of the restaurant. Once seated it took 15 minutes to get water. We ordered wine 20 minutes to get wine. We ordered dinner and salads. Another 30 minutes for salads and 30 minutes later dinner actually came. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. Nina was nice and even took my wife's $12 gumbo off the ticket. The bowl of gumbo is smaller than a large chili at a Wendy's. read more

Just had my 60th Birthday Party at Bishop's Post on Jan 19, 19. What a great night! Our servers were both named Jade and did a FABULOUS job serving drinks and keeping the buffet filled for over 40 people! Had a wonderful time! The food was great, and Jade J suggested a 'signature drink' for the evening that we called 'The Redhead'. What fun! I attended a fundraiser for Hope 4 Paws Rescue. The owner said we can bring 4 foster dogs for adoption and we can use the outdoor patio. We had many people wanting to order food and plenty of drinks. The rescue paid to have a singer at the event as well. When we got to Bishop's Post the owner changed his mind. He made us go to the tiny bar area without enough seating for everyone. The owner also decided he was not donating any portion of food or drink sales to the rescue. Once myself and the others were told that the money we spend at the restaurant will not go towards helping the dog rescue, we left. I will never step foot in Bishop's Post again. I would recommend nobody patronize this establishment read more

So I just was at Bishops post and participated in a costume contest for Halloween. It was supposedly going to be judged by the audience clapping and when I went up I had the obvious loudest applause than anyone else but did not receive anything. All the regulars won the prizes. There was even 2 third place winners and a tie for first place. I wasn't in any of it. A few people came up to me and said I should have won or at least gotten something! So it wasn't just me. I originally only gave them 1 star but changed it to 2 because my waitress was nice. read more

So disappointing. My spouse and I are new to Chesterfield and are both working at Barnes Jewish Hospital, thus we are trying an ample amount of new restaurants here as of late. Tonight, we arrived early for our reservation at 6:05 for a 6:30 reservation. We were seated promptly at 6:10. Our server, whom I will not name, greeted us very quickly. Introduced themselves, suggested menu items, delivered waters, and then we reported we needed one moment to select either a bottle of wine or each our own individual cocktails. It took 15 minutes for the server to return to our table. We visibly saw the server moving all around us and in that 15 minutes we made eye contact twice and on the third time mentioned we were ready to place our order. At this point we had our cocktail, hors d'oeuvre, and entree order prepared. Once placed our hors d'oeuvre arrived before the cocktails, server reported "bartender was busy." The time is now 7:30PM. The two entrees were a filet and ribeye. Steaks arrived undercooked. My spouse regretfully indulges in a Medium Well temperature "leather" and I myself enjoy a nice warm, red center that oozes with juicy, beef-forward flavor, a.k.a Medium Rare. Both steaks were around 2 inches thick making for the medium well steak to come out Medium Rare, and the medium rare steak to come out barely rare. The two steaks were extremely chewy and the outsides were burnt. We refuse to complain as who knows how long it would take to get our steaks cooked to the correct temperature after already waiting over an hour. Needless to say we were very disappointed. You could get a better cooked steak at Texas Roadhouse. We unfortunately will not be back. As well as, will be spreading word to not dine at this establishment and fear of suggesting our friends have a wasted evening. read more

Had a great late lunch on the outdoor patio, which features a beautiful waterfall. I had the grilled chicken with rice pilaf and lightly breaded brussel sprouts with bacon and onions. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the brussel sprouts were out of this world. We finished with a tasty bread pudding with a light caramel sauce. Great service and great food! I'll start off by stating that the meat they served me was raw. I got food poisoning. All 4 of us got sick. We had reservations, but they couldn't find napkins to put the water on, so we had to wait...and wait. We arrived at 5:30, and were served food about 7pm. The staff tried all this fancy stuff, but mainly just succeeded in looking dumb. I found the staff to be lacking in professionalism. They charged us more than $48, including a 20% gratuity for a 5:30pm meal for 4 people, then wanted a tip. The prices are outrageous! $12 for a little burger that was undercooked and tasted terrible. We had a burger, 2 kids' meals (mac and cheese and a cheeseburger) and a soup of the day. They went on and on about a waterfall, which is just water dripping down a few rocks outside. If you're looking to get sick on overpriced food that tastes badly, served in a dimly-lit, ugly room by inexperienced servers, I guess you've found your eatery. read more

My wife an I went for our 8 year anniversary Tuesday 7-13 and I was disappointed, 2 salads 2 entrees 2 drinks 110.00 and I wasn't wowed! Meatloaf was excellent, ambiance was fantastic, salads were decent, scallops were disappointing, drenched in something similar to BBQ sauce and service was mediocre. Water was refilled after the meal. Regulars were treated like VIP's and as a first timer I felt non-existent, the owner knew it was our anniversary and our first visit and acknowledged it at the hostess stand and that was it, he never came to check on us. Waiter had been there 2 years but I never would've guessed that unless I asked. Experience was just okay. Water wasn't refilled until after the meal. I mean it wasn't a Saturday and patio was about 75 % filled I would say. Patio sells for sure, menu is small which I like but my 1st choice was the special lamb chops and was was sold out on a Tuesday at 6 o'clock. My next 2 choices were meatloaf and fried chicken. It appears they do a great job with comfort food and struggle with upscale fare. For a 38.00 scallop dish, sweet sauce and smoke were the hero and they were gritty. Everything I heard around town was that it was an epic experience, I disagree! Ordinarily I tip 25 %, this time I tipped 20%, truthfully it barely warranted 15%! Owner and servers are getting paid on ambiance because they sure aren't killing it with service and cuisine. read more

Tried the place out for happy hour and was definitely not disappointed. Even with the limited happy hour specials menu, there were nice wine, draught, and drink options. We had the potato skins - pretty typical fare, but had just the right amount of cheese and bacon without being particularly greasy. Also ordered the spinach/artichoke/portabello sliders which were excellent. A sort of veggie-patty with horseradish, distinct flavors, on a fresh bun. Big quantity. A+ A Four cheese grilled cheese with Heirloom tomatoes and bacon. And those same cheeses end up in Mac and Cheese to go. Also great for events....we had a rehearsal dinner there. We held a birthday dinner here for 20 guests and I cannot say enough how perfectly it went. For starters, we met with the GM, Dan, well in advance to discuss food and drink options. He was very thorough and helpful despite meeting us during business hours. On our event day, we had a dedicated server, Jade, who was nothing short of amazing. She was there early to setup the entire room, from decorations and candles to folding napkins. She waited on our entire party of 20 for a cocktail hour and then for dinner and it was almost as if she had a couple clones. Truly excellent service. The food menu was perfect because of its breadth of options. Everyone commented on what a wonderful experience they had. I will be back for dinner many times. read more

I came here for the first time with my friend on Saturday afternoon and I loved it. We sat outside and it was beautiful, they have a little waterfall type situation built into the landscaping and it's so pretty and relaxing. Our server was wonderful and she recommended I get blackened chicken on my house salad and it was amazing. So good. We were there early so it was quiet and starting to pick up when we left: I will absolutely come back again. My husband and I came in for dinner on Sunday night 10-14-18. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who was very polite. We were then seated and greeted by the lovely manager , Robin. She was very personable and professional and checked on our table in a timely manner. We had a delicious Seafood medley appetizer, which I highly recommend. Our waitress, Courtney, was also lovely. To me it appeared that the restaurant was well run and in tune with each other. I believe that has a lot to do with the management. We will definitely be back. The patio is fantastic on a warm evening! The service was excellent and accommodating. The owner was working the room/patio and kept the staff on their toes, but I think our server would have been helpful and attentive regardless of who was around. I ordered the goat cheese and tomatoes coulis appetizer which was supposed to come with bread but I ask for veggies instead and the chef diagonally sliced celery into bite-sized pieces and it was fantastic! The combo of the cool crisp celery and the warm goat cheese-tomato mix was really tasty. I then ordered the smoked salmon salad which was good but not a favorite. The portion was nicely sized and the amount of salmon, bacon and other toppings was definitely more than expected. What I would have liked was more of the spinach leaves to balance out the toppings. There were maybe 8 or 10 spinach leaves total, which if you prefer more toppings than lettuce this sald is perfect for you, but I prefer more of a balanced salad. The flavor combo was just ok. Honestly the salmon had almost too much of a smoked taste and without the spinach to balanace it out it was a bit overwhelming.
