We shared the Dave's big breakfast and it was too much food for the two of us. The best of it - pancakes. They were light and fluffy. Delicious The good- scrambled eggs were cooked well, the bacon was delicious, the sausage patty was tasty, the hash browns were nice and crispy. The skip- the ham steak was just okay, the biscuit and country gravy did not hit the spot. It was cool and on the dry side the gravy was very thick, but did have a nice pepper kick. The sweet roll is HUGE. It lives up to the name and is super sweet. We did this as a take out and by the time we got to eat a bite, the outside was a little stale but the inside was still good. I have been coming to Bishops for years now. Today was a big disappointment. I waited for over 15 minutes to get someone to take my name for a seat. Finally; I gave up and selected one myself for the two of us. The aged thin bus boy was cleaning the table and promptly let me know that it wasn't ready for me. He also advised that I get on the waiting list. The maitre d did show up at the podium and offered a slot for me. I declined. This place was not that busy today and usually I just go directly to a booth. I understand taking names for groups; especially during busy time. Nothing really special. Ordered the cinnamon roll asking for it to be served before our meal and to be warmed up. It arrived just before the sandwich and it was not warm. It was heavy not a light and fluffy roll. I was disappointed. We shared a Ruben. Again blah! It was not hot, bread was not toasted or grilled well, it was soggy. For our Golden wedding anniversary celebration, we call for a reservation and were told no wine was allowed , but we went ahead and confirmed because we were told that their Prime Rib is great! Arrived and were told that they no longer service Prime Rib! Suffice it to say, it was a terribe evening... and for the first time ever, we did not leave a trip!!! read more

Okay, so I'm giving 5 stars because it was everything we had been looking for over the last three days for a breakfast joint. Came in on a Sunday and it's exactly the feel you are looking for when in search of the "best place for breakfast", busy, people waiting for a table (but not too long) staff bantering with "regulars" and smiles. Good variety of choices on the menu and big portions. Hubby got Dave's Big Breakfast and I had the Western Omelette. They aren't kidding when they say BIG. And their homemade jam was EXCELLENT and I don't usually like jam. It's home cooking feel for sure. Are there better, more "foodie" places to go? I'm sure but if you are looking for "feels like home" this is the spot. read more

We've been coming to St. George every year, for the past 10 years, and never have we fallen in love with a place so fast! Stephanie was an amazing server. She knew exactly what we wanted before we did. Everything she recommended was to die for, down the coffee! I mean the jam?!?! They make it fresh every morning and I think I'll dream about it all week. Then put it on top of your scone or French toast and you're golden. (Again, her recommendation) I don't post reviews unless I absolutely love a place and the people, and this was no exception. We can't wait to come back next time! I stopped for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. Despite the crowd we were seated quickly and had exceptional service from beginning to end. Not only was our server great but everyone we came in contact with was happy and eager to take care of us. The staff works together well, proven by the quick arrival of orders and turnaround of tables. Biscuits and gravy were delicious as was the veggie omelet. We're locals, and it's our favorite place to go for Sunday Brunch or a quick lunch during the week. There is often a wait, which tells you a lot; however, it usually goes quickly. The Washington location is smaller and busier, so you might want to try the St. George location. Out of the dozens of times we've been, we only had a bad experience once. I've eaten here before and everything was great. I assume the food would have been great this time but I didn't get that far as the service was not so good. Waited 10 minutes to be seated but they weren't very busy. Was told by 5 different people someone would be right with me but that wasn't true. Got seated and eventually was asked for my drink order, which I received in a normal amount of time and my order was taken. After that the waitress walked by several times without refilling my now empty cup. Food still hadn't come up after more time then I was willing to wait and decided to cut my losses and leave.
