During our first visit, I took a chance and ordered the grits. I normally avoid restaurant grits because they're almost always bland, flavorless and gelatinous. But the grits at Easy Like Sunday were completely different in the best way. Creamy with the slightest grainy texture and so perfectly seasoned that you don't need to add butter, salt, pepper or anything else. I had been daydreaming about those grits for two years. We finally made it back this past Friday and arrived when the doors opened at 9:00am. We were seated immediately. I ordered the Little Bit of Everything with eggs, bacon, those unforgettable grits and a thick, fluffy, delicious buttermilk pancake. That first spoonful of grits tasted exactly the way I remembered, maybe even better. My eyes actually welled up with tears. I know that sounds extreme but I'm not exaggerating. After waiting two years to taste them again, they felt familiar and comforting, like coming home. Our waitress, Diana, made the morning even more special. She was warm, welcoming and accommodating. When I told her I could nearly cry over those grits, she didn't make me feel silly or dramatic. She agreed saying,"Oh, I know! We have the best grits!" She said she completely understood why that first bite made me feel emotional. Being served by Diana felt like being taken care of by an old friend. We had never met her before, yet she treated us as though she had known us for years. Easy Like Sunday is a hidden little treasure tucked away across the street from Park Road Shopping Center. And honestly, the time flew by... we weren't even finished with them before we were seated. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was on point from there. Someone filled our water glasses almost immediately after we sat down, and we never had a dry cup. Mimosa refills were quick, too! I also grabbed a chai latte that came in the cutest old-school homemade-looking cup and was perfectly warm and spiced. Soooo good! For food, two of us ordered the Fresh Pick Sandwich with fresh tomatoes, stracciatella, kale pesto aioli, arugula, fresh basil and balsamic glaze on perfectly toasted sourdough. I added avocado and bacon and basically turned it into the most deliciously elevated BLT of my life. I also made a pro side swap for my side and went with the cheesy grits. They were delicious. No notes! My friend got the Fresh Pick without tomatoes and added prosciutto, and another friend ordered The Grit with shrimp, and that plate was BEAUTIFUL. Sweet pepper and tomato sauce, mushrooms, crispy onions, arugula and an egg over a plate of grits. Between us, there were clean plates, full bellies and a whole lot of "what are we trying next time?" conversations happening. The food came out quickly, the service was great, the atmosphere was adorable, and it was just an all-around excellent brunch. So I noped put of the transaction and posted about my experience in one of those Facebook groups and someone else said they had the same charge before. So if you order from their website, double and triple check that transaction carefully. About a week later, I did order from there, but went through Uber Eats directly. N o $42 charge this time. As far as the food goes, the omelet was fantastic and stuffed full. The side of grits was good, not great. I look forward to eating in house.
