I've had Biscuits & Blues bookmarked for a long time, and I finally came here last Saturday night with my man. I randomly saw an ad on Instagram for Lavay Smith & Red Hot Skillet Lickers. They looked & sounded really swanky so I was intrigued. I'm glad that someone took a photo of the parking details on here so we parked at that garage. Upon walking into the place, I asked the front desk person about the parking, and he gave me the parking discount stub so we were able to just pay $10 for parking at that garage. We tried to find street parking, but it was impossible. The place looks swanky. The stairs were adorn with little blue lights and flowers, which was lovely. The room downstairs was dimly lit with each table having a touch lamp with 3 levels of brightness. The restrooms were individual gender neutral stall rooms with a sink area. When I walked into the restroom area, this guy just walked out of a stall, and he just smiled at me then walked out into the room without washing his hands!!! I later noticed him, and I pointed him out to my boyfriend. Lol... He was the trombone player of the band. Lol.. We ordered the following items: - Golden Hour Spritz - pretty refreshing & bright - Louisiana Lemonade - also refreshing & sweet - Biscuits - pretty yummy, I liked the butter - Jambalaya - pretty tasty - Shrimp & Grits - cheesy and tasty - Peach & Blueberry Cobbler - too much blueberry and not enough peach; this was okay Service... It was mixed. Our server didn't bring us waters that we told her when we were ordering. We had to flag someone down for waters. She didn't come by to check on us or refill out waters. They're pretty quick at clearing plates when we finish them. Then when the check came, they tried to charge us for posters...? We didn't get any posters. Wtf... weird. We told her about it, and she apologized and removed it. Nonetheless... We still have an enjoyable evening listening to live music with the lovely jazz band. We weren't a fan of the trumpet player as it was too loud and shrill sounding. read more

Cute little place to see a live jazz show. Very intimate and nice setup. But food is mediocre at best. If I come back I would only get drinks. Biscuits are dry and hard. The venue was nice. Front ticket guy with the curly hair was delightful. Tia Caroll was amazing as was the band accompanying her. The guitar player was Hella shredding! And the band was tight. Service was abysmal - Andrew was the main problem. We still tipped nicely as it seemd like the place may pool tips and we wanted to not allow the bad service we got from Andrew to affect the other people that were working. The food wasn't really great either and the drinks were mediocre. Very cheap sysco mass produced junk food. We ordered: Espresso martini-- watery with a huge amount of whipping cream---noooo! Biscuit-- cold, crunchy, undercooked-- I am not sure how they achieved this combo, but they did. Shrimp and grits--- bland as hell. Cream and shrimp over firm grits. Not good. Catfish nuggets-- these were okay- the jalapeno tarter was nice. Sweet potato fries-- were good. Not crispy or hot. We were hungry so we didn't mind. Our main server was Andrew-- a few others also were helping too. They were much nicer. Andrew seemed to be on an entirely different plane of understanding what hospitality is. Can't confirm, but he seemed like he was of an " enhanced" nature. All sped up and not really interested in working...irritated and agitated at us. Our drinks and food got mixed up and delivered to the wrong tables. He dropped of the credit card for the table next to us. When the table asked, Where's our check, he snapped that he dropped it off-- that's when we noticed that it was sitting on our table and handed to the people next to us. He was rude, held my sister's drink by the rim while dropping it off doing a weird back armed spin... never asked how anything was. My sister had to wipe the rim with a napkin before drinking-- but got grossed out and ordered a different drink. We were there for the second show and apparently they ran out of the macaroni croquettes. Andrew with ZERO finesse just states, were out of the macaroni -- you want something else? I said what do you have? He acted all put out when I asked for a menu. I was also asking what the joint had because they were out of food by the second show. We had light appetizers elsewhere thinking that we would have dinner at the show-- super disappointed with the food. If the band wasn't so amazing I would have gotten up and left due to the lack of hospitality and manners. Great venue, the sound and acoustics are fabulous. We had a comfortable side booth and were super happy with our seating location. I would go back for the music. But not for the food or service. read more

Phenomenal evening out in SF. This is a must do. I'm a local and love blues music. Food is exceptional, southern cuisine, so think jambalaya, fried chicken, fried okra, meatloaf etc... and of course amazing biscuits. I suggest buying a ticket beforehand to make sure you can get in, and if you get a general ticket, the line gets full quickly so be sure to get there early if you're picky about where you sit, but all tables are great. My only lil minor complaint is that service is a bit slow after your first order. read more

My friend bought tix for us to see The Cashbox Kings perform here. Seats are first come first serve, so we arrived early and sat on one of the few lounge booths near stage right. Cajun food's on the menu and we ordered okra bites, catfish nuggets ( a must!), string beans, biscuits, jambalaya, and pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, as well as drinks. Overall, the food was pretty tasty, though the okra had parts that was too hard and stringy to chew. The sound quality was great and the performance was magical! With a packed crowd, the vibe was uplifting and fun! read more

We absolutely loved this experience! Everything about it was great, and we'd absolutely be regulars if we lived in SF. The highlights are definitely the venue and the performance. The venue is very intimate, but spacious enough where you don't feel crammed together with people. If you arrive early, you can get your pick of tables, and our table along the back of the floor with the comfy banquet was perfect. There aren't bad seats, although some of the bigger booths are a U shape, where one person would be facing away from the stage. The blues and performance was excellent and we really enjoyed it. We also enjoyed drinks and food. I'd say the drinks were 4 stars and the food was 3.5-4 stars. We had the biscuits, garlic fries, hot chicken sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich. Everything was good, but not exceptional - about what you'd get at a gastropub. Everything was hot and fresh, though, and plentiful portions. The service was also great. With not many servers, they were super attentive throughout and nothing sat or was neglected. They also made it a great experience. This was one of our highlights of the city! read more

You can find this lively but humble place by it's blue neon sign lit one block west of Union Square . Open since 1995. I bought two tickets in advance on eventbrite to watch Tony Lindsay, and American Jazz legend. You must check in upon first entry before heading down to the underground jazz club. We were seated quickly by gracious hosts just before 6 pm on a Friday night for a 630-8pm show. . We were again greeted about a drink. I ordered food and drinks. The brisket, jambalaya, catfish, and Mac n cheese were made quickly, well, and were great. The drinks also were decent. Some danced, musicians came up close and performed in the audience, and the concert was intimate. Can't wait to return. read more

There are no official Blues bars back at home in LA, so I knew I needed to make a trip to Biscuits and Blues during my work trip up to SF. It was a great little start to my solo date night in the city. Arrived a bit early for my 7:30pm reservation and the place was super cute and intimate. After a little bit of menu looking, I decided on a few drinks and dinner. I cant remember the first drink I had, but that doesnt matter because the Mai Tai I had was excellent! I asked to make their virgin mai tai not so virgin and it was creamy and delicious. For food, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the brisket. It was paired perfectly with mashed potatoes and green beans that were crispy and great. Music was great as well! I wish it was a little more lively in there, but its Wednesday in a big city, so ill have to come back on a weekend. All in all, a great little start to my night of live music,next time in SF and in the mood for some blues, Ill be right here. read more

Enjoyed a new orleans jazz party with Gunhild Carling and her family of musicians this past Saturday. I've seen her perform live at least three times now, at various locations, and her shows never disappoint. Biscuits & Blues was an ideal venue for her performance, an intimate environment, great sound and lighting on stage, and an awesome crowd, a full house, but it didn't feel claustrophobic in the lower level lounge. A nice setup with lovely art and decor to set the mood, starting from the lobby upstairs on street level. Service was friendly and professional, our food was delayed (took a little over 30 minutes), but staff was apologetic. Got the shrimp and grits, grilled salmon fillet, and buttermilk biscuits. All of the items were delish, cooked just right and freshly made, even if the serving sizes were small. The drinks, king sazerac and louisiana lemonade, were tasty too, and the wait for this was not as long. Parking is difficult in the area, but I saw a sign posted on the wall in the lounge, noting they have a special deal with the Mason/O'Farrell parking garage, $10 for three hours, or $15 for 5 hours (see my attached photo for instructions). read more

We had a wonderful time at this venue and really enjoyed the food. We had the pork ribs, fried okras and spicy chicken sandwich and all of it was very good and way above our expectations. The service was good and the owner checked in with us after the show to make sure all was to our satisfaction. The sound was good also, not too loud and just right. Well I finally made it to a show came to see Fillmore Slim his show was very good.this place is nice intimate food is delicious The people were very friendly it was nice sitting in the second row any seat in the house would have a good view people were up dancing having a good time This ma put on a good show I hear all the shows are pretty good parking at a garage on Mason you get $10 off I recommend this place come listen to some good music and have some good food. We came here Tuesday night to see West Coast Blues Revue live and was blown away by how great they were, and it was only $15 per ticket! Fiance and I were surprised by the great customer service too by how the bartender gave us drinks and even poured my sparkling water for me. We did not expect that type of service at this venue considering it was smaller than other places we've went to. We tried the fried mac and cheese and garlic fries during the show and both are really tasty. Will be back next time to try the biscuits. The only thing that got to me was the little tables and how uncomfortable the seat got after a while. read more

Fillmore Slim was performing and was an awesome show. Had to send my lemon drop and cosmopolitan back as the person they had making drinks was horrible !! Both tasted like dirty dishwater. Great place to go for music but definitely don't recommend eating there. We ordered a few appetizers that were just ok then split an order of their Jambalaya. It was definitely the worst jambalaya I ever had. This dish should be full of spices and flavor and it was as bland as could be with VERY little sausage and chicken. Biscuits & Blues has been around for THIRTY years in Union Square. It's well-known as a Blues venue, and you have the chance of seeing some amazing artists come through. The restaurant is underground and lit up with a bright blue bar. The space is intimate, and the acts sometime walk right up to you. I always love a good dinner and entertainment venue in one. The food was great. We had ceviche, gumbo, and of course, BISCUITS. They were so flaky and delicious, especially slathered with the accompanying honey butter. I was also surprised to see they had a wide cocktail and NA selection. Service was very attentive - there is a two-drink minimum after all. Great place for a date night! read more

The entertainment was amazing, and the atmosphere was just a lot of fun! The food was great, although I would get there early as possible so you can eat, and not have to deal with a dirty table during the concert. They cleaned it fast, but it would have been better if I had finished my food before the music started. My fault. The prices are affordable for me, and that's a big plus!! The ambiance was pleasant. I didn't like the ideal that we paid over $300 for our food, and told us that we has to pay another $40 for the show,this should be against the law. Mind you we were eating as the show came on. This is highway robbery. They should be ashamed of their self. I was celebrating my birthday and I was totally disappointed. Improperly made drink. How difficult is a margarita anyway? Sweet potato fries are the de facto fries. What if I don't like sweet potatoes? Some forewarning would have been appreciated. I was expecting very little entertainment venue inside the basement club with $40 cover charge for Blues band. But, when we sat down to sparsely attended club at the far corner of the big basement restaurant and bar, we were pleasantly surprised by the professional Blues Band with above average performance by the singer, lead guitarist, bassist and drummer as well as the conductor/pianist. The initial drinks were watered down and weak but the second set of cocktails were totally different from the first. We were all blown away by the concert and the proficiency of the musicians overall. The sweet potato and garlic toasted asparagus and their famous biscuits with honey butter spread were all decent. I have to say that the band was pretty good. They played nonstop for two hours. The lady was truly amazing blues singer who also sang some of her original songs that were very good. Nice gem. We used to go to B&Bs quite often before they closed. We went last night. I am wondering if they were having staffing issues. We got there 40 minutes early, ordered a drink as soon as we got there. Took over 30 minutes, looked like the bartender could have used some help. There were 4 of us for dinner. It took about 45 min to get 2 Caesar salads for dinner . I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. I had 3 small pieces of chicken. The pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken for the other 2 people came about 20 minutes later. It's a great venue with good music. I will definitely try it again. read more

The food, ambiance, music and service were magnificent, and I will definitely be coming back on a regular basis.

The male bartender with a hat and mustache ripped me & my partner off, told us both our drinks were $9 then charged us $11 & $13 dollars. When I took the issue to the bartender he said, "I didn't know you had a budget," and called us cheapskates, telling us the drinks varied in price despite telling us before charge both drinks were $9. One drink was a non-draft beer that he said should be $9 at most, other was a vodka drink which I was told was also $9, and not only did it have no vodka but like I said they overcharged me. Not to mention, IT IS ILLEGAL to charge without informed consent. I would not come here, food is fine, however you will likely be overcharged. Everything here is overpriced. Incredibly disrespectful bartender, but all other staff was very nice and tried to help me out with the faulty transaction. Music here is always great though read more

After having been closed for several years, I was over the moon to hear that Biscuits and Blues was open again. On top of that, one of my favorite performers was on stage for my birthday weekend, Earl Thomas! And, with this being a big birthday event (my 50th), the stars were aligned for the perfect way to celebrate this special occasion! As I remember, the food and drinks were great! Between the whole table, we ordered almost every single appetizer and kept the drinks flowing! Shout out to the great staff who kept running back and forth to our table with food and drink. And Earl Thomas always puts on a great show! Last night was such a good time! If you're looking for an old-fashioned blues club that's down in a dark basement, then Biscuits & Blues is the spot!
