Biryani Pot has what I Look for when I go to an Indian restaurant: substance. From the moment you enter you are surrounded by beautiful artwork an decor that has been tastefully curated to the space. The interior itself is clean and spacious, with booth seating options that I love. The service is always courteous and timely, though weekend can get busy and be a bit slower. The food itself is full of flavor and authenticity. I love the malai kofta, chicken karahi and the chicken biryani. The malai kofta is the perfect balance of sweet and savory, with a rich creamy curry and a delicious vegetable patty. The meat dishes have a bit of a kick, but lucky for me, has an adjustable spice level of you ask. The meat itself is tender and works well with the spices to really give you a truly unforgettable meal. An Indian restaurant I can endorse.

Not impressed. I ordered samosas when waitress asked what I wanted to drink. She disappeared for over 10 minutes when I was wanting to order. There were only 2 other tables & one was a single. I was going to say never mind on getting an entree after the long wait & wish that I had. I ordered the veggie biryani & was unimpressed. Veggies were in tiny pieces & not than plentiful in ratio to the abundant rice. I used all of the sauce & was unimpressed with the flavor. My onion samosas were ok. I prefer the kind with flaky pastry. Reviews state how friendly & helpful the waitresses are. Mine was not. She offered no suggestions when I asked about the veggie biryani. I would have loved if she had suggested something else. I don't plan on returning. I will go to Dumpling King in the same strip instead.

Nut allergy warning: The green sauce has coconut and peanut in it, so avoid that. The desserts on the thali had cashews as well. I hesitated on ordering the thali and just got a normal biryani, which ended up fine with avoiding the green sauce. Preface: My Indian palette is incredibly weak, as I grew up under the notion that Indian food was more dangerous for people with nut allergies. We got here around noon and there was plenty of seating for a small party. Parking is a little harder but there is space in the back. Service was prompt, with dishes coming out of my colleagues' thali regularly. My Chicken 65 biryani took the longest. Holy moly, the portions. For $14-$16, you get enough to feed yourself for at least two meals. I can usually put away a lot of food, but even I tapped out after half of the Chicken 65 Biryani. The thali had a great variety of dishes and chutneys. The Chicken 65 Biryani had a solid amount of meat buried under a mountain of rice. There was a decent amount of heat here, which was well balanced by the yogurt sauce provided. It was a really solid value and got a thumbs up from my Indian colleague. Would come back again.

I've been to Biryani Pot many times since it was recommended by a co-worker from Hyderabad. I've never had a bad meal and always leave with leftovers that are even better the next day!

Finally got to try Biryani Pot. I was told we had to get Chilli Chicken, so we started with it. I lived up to the hype, we loved it. We then got Naan, House special chicken curry, Kadai Chicken Masala, and Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani. The 2 chicken curries were good, we loved the biryani.

One of my top 2 Indian restaurants in Houston, recommended by Indians who know their food right. Apparently as authentic as it gets. Huge menu with lots of vegetarian and non veg options, making it a versatile restaurant for big groups. The biryani was very tasty, and the cauliflower appetizer was a huge hit. I also really enjoy the lollipops and have been ordering them consistently. Prices very reasonable for the quality. And obviously, great service. Overall- 10/10.

Dal makhani - fake.

Biryani Pot in Houston, TX, has consistently been a disappointment. After many years , I decided to revisit this place, hoping for some improvement, but to my dismay, it is still as bad as it was before, maybe even worse. The Dal Makhani was absolutely disgusting--a total scam! They show one thing on the menu, but what you get is far from it. It's an insult to call it Dal Makhani--it neither looks nor tastes like one. The Aloo Gobi Masala was a lazy hack job--no effort put into it at all. And don't get me started on the Paneer Butter Masala! Loaded with artificial food coloring--just awful! The Chicken Biryani was meh--not the best, not terrible, just okay. It was the better of the bunch but still not as good as Nawab's. I think this restaurant tries to have too many items on their menu when they clearly can't execute them well. Better to have fewer dishes done right than a huge menu done poorly. Honestly, this place needs a reality check. They should focus on quality and authenticity instead of deceiving customers with fake photos on their menu and poorly executed dishes. Save your money and go somewhere else!

After a long long Covid gap we ventured out Biryani Pot. We reached around 5.26 pm and a board stating " closed" was staring at us, we immediately started googling and realized that the restaurant reopens at 5.30.... oof.. (sigh of relief)! Obviously being the first, the restaurant was empty, but the lady who received us was not ' open' yet, we chose the 6 seater for 4 of us and she looked quite upset... can't understand why especially when I saw even a group of 3 ppl occupying the 6 seater close by when we left ! And then we started with an order of soup and immediately the response was that there was no soup, we explained that we came all the way in the cold rainy weather especially for the soup, then she accommodated the request... but somehow there was no warm feeling overall. Food, though, did not disappoint, and the saving grace for the service was this waiter Antonio. He was cheerful and helpful. We ordered the hot and sour, and the sweet corn vegetable soup. Pipping hot, it was perfect for the cold rainy weather. The rest of the food got delayed but when it came it felt fresh, hot and tasty. Our order continued with crispy corn ( A must try if u come here), chilly panner, naan, baingan bhartha, malai khofta ( I almost licked the bowl clean ) and of course veg biryani. All that wait had us terribly famished and we devoured the dishes one after another. We had no idea that the curries came with plain rice , so we had more than enough good food to go around.

The service was amazing! Our food was phenomenal. I love butter chicken and this was my favorite that I've tried from any restaurant. We'll absolutely be back! It was also a relaxing and cozy environment.

My Thaali lunch plate. Huge amount of veggie food.

Had their Thaali lunch for $12 bucks and left stuffed. I'm vegetarian and this was spicy and tasty. I'll definitely be back. Great service.

They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions for no pork or shellfish. Thank you! Loved the tiny spoons filled with appetizers and desserts. The Thai High Tea is available Fridays to Sundays from 11:30-3PM. A deal at $35 for two people. Would definitely come back to enjoy another Thai High Tea or dinner. We appreciated that kind gesture. Every food item on the menu looked delicious. I decided on the Lamb Rack. Loved the texture of the lamb and loved the basmati rice. It wouldn't be a flavor for everyone, but to me, it was a perfect ending to a great entree as it was light and mildly sweet. Note that not all food options are halal. Their website is updated with the information and you could also ask the server for clarification. Absolutely adore the interior. The restaurant could get loud but still bearable. By the time we got to our table, we had only an hour to dine before the restaurant closes. Thankfully, our wonderful server was quick to get us settled in and that made up for the slow start. We tried a few dishes and found the starters to be more tasty than the main entree. Shirazi Salad, Rumi's Wings, Crispy Potato, Cremini & Oyster Mushroom Hummus was well worth sharing plates. Unfortunately, the Chicken Kabob lacked seasoning and any depth of flavor. It was the least favorite dish of the night. We also sampled every single desserts on the menu, but only the Majoon Toffee Cake won us over with its deliciously warm and comforting sweetness. While we enjoyed some dishes, the overall taste was just average for an upscale establishment. One major detail was the underwhelming of plating when it can play a vital role in how food is perceived. A little more finesse could really add value to the dining experience.

It just doesn't compare to the real BBQ joints in Houston. Somewhat tough in parts. Not much bark. The sausage was the absolute worst I've ever had anywhere in my life. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. It went in the trash. Saffron rice was my ok, pointless really. Mac 'n cheese very plain Jane. The ice in my soda smelled funny. They did have some good employees. Service was great. They get a second star just for that. Don't think I'll be going back. I just have to say that I've been to some really crappy, run-down BBQ restaurants over the years. Old places where the owners are burned out and the staff doesn't care. Corners are cut and they just barely try. I'm sure you can think of some BBQ hole in the walls like that. As bad as they are with their Ekrich sausage, Van Camps pork 'n beans, Walmart meats, and KC Masterpiece bbq sauce - even they are better than Levant BBQ.

As I see the entrance, love the decor, ambiance, and the whole seating area with bar in the middle, flowers and sculptures is cute and insta worthy. I was sat down at 8 pm, my server was great, he does talk a lot but that's his personality. From the server standpoint service was great. Now the food, I ordered Mithus shrimp and butter chicken experience. I asked for spicy for both dishes. Shrimp and the sauce, really good, came with soft buns. Delicious! Although it was not spicy at as asked. The butter chicken experience was very disappointing for me - it came in 3 sauces, white, tomatillo and traditional. I felt they needed a bit of flavor, something more bold. I felt meh the whole time as I have had better butter chicken. Mind you, I'm Punjabi and this is owned by Punjabis so I was surprised the food was tasted by someone and was said this is ok. The traditional was my biggest meh, as the sauce was way too tangy, that is not butter chicken though. Now service, although server was great, my food was severely late, I was literally scrolling on my phone starving. Nothing was offered by staff to make up for it. When I say late - I sat down at 8 pm, I ordered both - app and main dish at the same time. My butter chicken did not hit my table till 9:30 pm. I almost wanted to walk out. The restaurant really need to step up their flavor game and service game. Overall, nothing to rave about, or make an effort to come back unless they really make it better. I have had better Indian food let alone Michelin, which again has been a great experience in New York, Chicago, DC and in Europe. I think the severely late food service, and lack of flavors, and keeping it so bland despite asking for spicy, killed it for me.

I'm not a big plantain person, so I initially asked for mine without them. But, I decided to give them a try anyway, both with and without them. I'm glad I did because the plantains actually added a really nice balance to the dish. The combination of the rice, curry, and plantains was mostly savory with just a hint of sweetness. Hands down, this was my favorite dish. I also have to give a shout out to the woman out front handling the samples. I spoke with her the most, and she did a really good job of selling the restaurant. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Sometimes it's the little things, like someone taking the time to introduce you to the food and make recommendations, that can really make a difference. All in all, ChopNBlok was a great find, and I'm glad my friend recommended it. I don't live in the area, but if I ever find myself back there, I would definitely return for the Golden Bowl.
