It isn't a huge restaurant, nor does it have great visibility, but they do serve great affordable Indian food. My wife and I ordered vegetable and chicken biriyani and chicken masala (which came with plain rice), and we ended up with a table full of food. For the price paid, we got a lot of food, that tasted great. The biriyani was amazing, with the right amount of heat. Adding in their raita, it was truly a great biriyani meal. I truly hope they stay in business so that I can go back again and try their other menu items. For those worried about parking, there is enough parking. read more

1st visit: Food was delicious, glad to have a new Indian food option near Gurnee Mills. For the restaurant, please ask customers if they want hot or mild :), the dishes we had were way too hot which I'm sure many prefer but it would be nice to have the option for mild. 2nd visit: Tried a couple different dishes this time; veg briyani and chicken masala, they were excellent! Side note: I'm tired of these restaurants getting bad reviews for a few service related issues. It's very spicy! My husband and I ate lunch here at Biryani Pointe in Gurnee recently, in March 2019. The food was fresh and light. The textures were all perfect; the food was not overcooked or mushy at all. The portion sizes were good. We appreciated the vegetarian options. The restaurant was not too warm or too stuffy inside, nor too chilly, and the music was not too loud. We were both comfortable there. The trouble for both of us was that the food was extremely spicy. It was so hot in terms of spice that I could eat only very little of mine, and even my husband could eat only part of his. He took it home and later was able to finish his and mine as leftovers for a couple of lunches the next days only after he cooked more basmati rice and some potatoes to add to the leftovers, to sort of try to dilute the spiciness of our two entrees. IF you enjoy food with a lot of heat to it, you should definitely come here. read more

The stars are for the server who let me enjoy my meal quietly and that the place was clean. Otherwise the food was just below ok. I got the mutton korma with saffron rice. Rice was very fragrant and looked lovely, but was just 'off' and actually almost mushy. Korma was far too oily and I practically had to strain it to get the meat out. Very disappointed with food they delivered. The quality was not worth the price we had paid. The food had an awful flavor and wasn't even close to the taste of real Indian food. Some of the food was bland and lacked flavor, and the naan was rubbery. The Butter Chicken seemed like frozen chicken mixed with cream and tomato paste which was never cooked together. Great little place for fast Indian/Pakistani food! Be prepared to take food home with you because the portions are huge! My husband ordered the Chicken Biryani and Butter Chicken curry and loved both. I, having given up beef/chicken for lent, ordered the shrimp biryani. I must say I've never tasted shrimp biryani before so I can't compare it to anything but it was tasty but not the typical biryani flavor I'm used to. The Best and authentic biryani from Hyderabad. I love the place and especially the Biryani. The other menu items are awesome. I have tried Biryani from several place in several state but at last I got the real taste after 20 years, The Mirchi Salan, not everyone can make like them. I felt like eating Biryani in Hyderabad. This place is a dressy casual Indian place disguised as your humble neighborhood Indo-Paki joint. Not only the best value but overall good too, in the far northeast suburbs. Nothing I've ordered has ever skimped on portion size so I'm never hesitant about paying more than at other suburban Indian establishments. The chicken is fall apart tender every time; honestly they make some of the most tender, juicy chicken I've ever had, and it's so perfectly seasoned and flavorful. It's such a stark contrast to many other Indian establishments in the suburbs (ahem, Vernon Hills) where the restaurant served meat on the drier side or cut into too tiny bits to feel like I'm biting into anything other than the sauce it's in. The biryani and korma I've ordered so far are perfectly seasoned every time (I have to ask for mild though). Will continue to come back again and again. Also forgot to mention - believe the other yelpers when they say that this place has such fantastically friendly service every time!! It makes me want to support their business that much more. Finally, note that if you order bone-in chicken (which is default), there are bits of chicken bone because they've cooked the chicken so tender, which although never so small that most adults couldn't just pick them out, would be worth warning a young kid or elderly. I was excited to have an Indian restaurant closer to home, but left disappointed. Bad: The palak paneer was a weirdly smooth consistency with an equally weird taste, somehow almost artificial. Based purely on yelp reviews, I drove 1hr 40 minutes round trip, just to try this place. It's a huge disappointment. Granted, I tried only two dishes. I was alone. 1. Fish biriyani. 1 star. They put some fish with spicy sauce and covered it with colored rice. The only good thing about it was that the rice was not oily. The spicy sauce was like it came out of a Shaan masala packet. 2. Lamb kabab. 1 star. Dry and not good. I ate better kabab out of frozen versions at Indian grocery shops. 3. Service is the highlight or shall I say low light! One manager (or owner?) and one server. The manager was talking loudly on his phone within earshot of the tables. "here's your food. Eat it and get lost" was his attitude. It makes me wonder how hygienic his management is. It's been almost a year since we've eaten at Biryani Pointe. Apparently in that time they changed cooks (based on other reviews I just read). The recipes are different and the Biryani is nowhere near as good as it used to be. We got the Shrimp Biryani which used to be flavorful with large pieces of shrimp. Now it's like they took regular rice, a few tiny tiny pieces of shrimp and some dried masala and called it Biryani. The name of the place suggests they pride themselves on their Biryani. I'm very disappointed. The Double Ka Meetha also isn't as good as it used to be. The Naan was good and the Chicken 65 was decent (again not quite as good as it used to be), and the butter chicken was good. If they went back to the old recipies I'd come back, but as it stands, we have to find another restaurant because we're very unimpressed. read more

Great food, nice place. Absolutely loved this place. Mostly I'm amazed at how spicy the food is (for the midwest, not for India). I had the Mutton biriyani which was delicious. No fancy toppings or hard boiled egg slice, but the mutton was seasoned amazingly well. Also had the beef kebab which tasted great. We came here about a year ago during a Six Flags trip. The food was good then and we were looking forward to stopping for lunch during another Six Flags trip. Unfortunately, the food was subpar this time around. We ordered vegetable samosas and they were parts of them that were still cold inside. Ordered the shish paneer extra spicy, and while it was spicy, it was extremely salty. It was tough to eat. In the special combo #1 the chicken was rubbery. There was either butter or ghee on the rice. It didn't say on the menu that it would be like that. Would probably have skipped the rice if we had known. We ran out of water and had to ask for it after we waited for them to give us more. Waited some time for our receipt. Disappointed it wasn't as good as the first time we had it. Since it was good the first time I'll give the place some credit and afford them two stars instead of one. We won't be returning though. read more

I knew this place should be good cause i was introduced to this restaurant by my business associate from China. The reason i say that is I work 10 min away from here and yet i had to be informed of this place by someone who lives 10,000 miles away. Last night was our first experience with Biryani Pointe in Gurnee. We ordered Mutton Biryani, which was very tasty and Chicken Tikka. This Chicken was flavorful and very moist and good. The portion on the biryani was very generous And provided leftovers to bring home. The Vegetable Samosas were good as were the sauces served with them. The "heat" in the foods was a good level. The Rai Ta was cooling and delicious. The people were very gracious. I had only two disappointments. I expected the milk tea to taste of some masala. But it did not. Also the nice casual atmosphere was spoiled by a lack of exhaust such that you left there with your hair and clothes smelling of your delicious meal. Perhaps I will try take out until the exhaust issue is addressed, for I would like to try more of their menu items. read more

Before mention anything else i would like to start with Chapli kabab. This was the Juiciest kabab i had for the first time in US. I am really fond of kababs and for me it was a absolute treat. I was a little weary of coming here based on previous reviews, but thankfully our experience wasn't horrible. There was a little bit of a wait for our food and our server seemed to not want to be there or be bothered by us. I got the chicken shawarma and it was good but nothing to write home about. The veggie samosas were fantastic though, and they're my favorite food on earth so it made up for the mediocre main dish. So after looking around i decided to give this restaurant a try and so glad i did. The food is spiced just right, i ordered the combination platter and it was enough for two people. My husband and I are huge fans of Indian food, so we stopped in for a Sunday lunch after seeing this place off of Grand Avenue. While the service is a little stilted, the food was fantastic and served promptly. I ordered mutter paneer (my favorite dish) and palak paneer, both with a side of their saffron rice. My husband ordered Karahi Gosht, goat meat cooked in a garlic, tomato, spicy stew with a side of saffron rice and garlic naan. He also ordered spring rolls for an appetizer, which I will say I was surprised to see on the menu as I associate that with a more Thai cuisine? But hey, he said they were good and were served with two different dipping sauces. My husband LOVED everything he ordered; the curry sauce with the goat was delicious, perfectly spicy (although he has a higher tolerance than I do) and the garlic naan was incredible. It was soft and had green onion pieces inside the actual bread. Very well made. I absolutely loved the mutter paneer, even if it was a little more spicy than I'm used to associating with this dish. I also ordered the palak paneer because it's another dish that I have been wanting to try. I'm not sure what I think about it, it had a unique flavor and was good but it was way too spicy for me. I won't reorder this when we go back, but it wasn't bad. The saffron rice is also incredible. I wasn't able to finish all of the food, so we left with quite a bit of leftovers for later, which was nice! Everything was very filling and tasty. The manager was present but not obtrusive or pushy and the restaurant had a nice amount of foot traffic and dining traffic.
