I brought my dad here for lunch while running errands. Things that stick out. No warning sign the palek paneer was spicy. Not just spicy HOT. We are not heat people, so it was an unpleasant surprise. Chicken biryani was mostly bone with a little meat. Like the scraps you leave after deboning. This must be a cooking style I'm unfamiliar with. The rice pudding was basically a soup with fruit. That was very tasty if not rice pidding. Soda & ice tea from cans only. No ice, the ice machine was broken. Soda was coldish. As much as I tried to find something redeeming the "rice pudding" was the closest I could get. It was runny but delicious. Service was adequate.

Great service and huge portions! I have not tried much Indian food but this tasted delicious to me. It was spicy and flavorful. Can't wait to try out more of the menu.

The WORST quality of Indian food. Thoroughly disappointed. The subji were all loaded with gravy and not much else. I had 5 cubes of paneer in the mater paneer. I poured out the gravy in my butter chicken to actually see any pieces of chicken. The chole channa tasted like unloaded an entire container of salt into it (which is saying a lot since my wife loves salt). Will never eat here again

First off, let me say that this place has some delicious butter chicken! It's not very spicy but I might have a higher tolerance for spicy foods, but it was really good, chicken is very tender and sauce was great. Only negatives - I absolutely do not recommend dining in here - come on, you don't have free cups of water? Made me pay for $3 bottles of water and rice is not free with entrees - another $4 per rice, kind of lame since most Indian places give it for free with entrees. Also, they have no real air conditioning in the restaraunt so it's very hot in the summer, our server (who was nice) gave us a fan to use in my picture below, but they need to get some actual AC for those Chicago July's, so overall, food good but overpriced experience.

Well, it was fine. I had a craving for Indian food but I wanted to stay in the area. Nothing impressive. What is in the picture and a serving of Aloo Gobi (stewed vegetables), no drinks totalled $42. The rest rooms are appalling - dirty, no soap, no paper towels.

That suited us as we were low on time and on our way to an event. Service was efficient and polite - a one man crew up front had everything easily under control. The atmosphere is spare and pretty basic, but that doesn't take away from the food experience. My mom's beef dish came out sizzling and spicy. She enjoyed it and the generous portions means she brought a lot home for an additional meal. BF had chicken tikka, which he also enjoyed. He's usually a lamb guy, but he finished his dish happily. I enjoyed my paneer - it had a good heat level and abundant fresh , whole spices and fresh ginger spears. It was not the more common creamy, mushy spinach, but a fresher version that I presume was more typically Pakistani. I had plenty for two meals. Our breads were good. My cheese bread tasted like cheese pizza and couldn't be terribly authentic, but hey - cheese and bread can't be wrong. Mom enjoyed a plain lassi. I did order a side of rice and was happy to have it with my dish, and while it was a generous portion, the price seemed a little high for a side. I would certainly eat at Peshawar again. Very good food with no bells and whistles.

We ordered a lot of food including goat biryani, chicken Kashmiri and highway goat Karahi. To our surprise goat Karahi was really skimpy quantity and when we started eating it almost90% of the goat pieces were all bones with very little flesh remain it. Together with the skimpy quantity and all boney pieces we were very disappointed. Chicken Kashmiri was of pretty good taste. We ordered a card different naans and some were left uncooked. Goat biryani was simply terrible and very very mediocre to bad taste. We also ordered a chicken kabob and they were so undercooked that we had to call them and we asked about it. They said they would replace it but we were not interested because we were so disappointed. Overall we are very disappointed Go try other options of similar food all around Devon Ave. Bundoo Khan is way overrated and we will not be going there again.

Since my nickname is Zahid and he knows how much I love nihari, he snapped a photo of the restaurant and sent it to me. I jokingly told him to bring some for the "owner" (meaning me), but I didn't expect him to take it seriously. He ended up dining there, loved the nihari, and decided to order an extra portion to go. Then he drove seven and a half hours all the way to Minneapolis and delivered it to me today. After reheating it, I can honestly say--it was absolutely delicious. I usually don't write reviews for places I haven't visited in person. However, after tasting the nihari from Zahid Nihari, I was genuinely impressed and felt compelled to share my experience. This restaurant is now at the top of my list for future trips to the greater Chicago area. Wishing them all the very best! P.S.: I'm not the owner and have no affiliation with Zahid Nihari--I just happen to share the same name.

Great selection of a few, expertly made dishes - most being vegetarian. Fun fact, the chicken dish usually runs out first. It's a lunch place and only open for a few hours each day, M-F. Pro tip - come at 11am to ensure you get your top meal choice. Sometimes I come through at 1:30pm (they close at 2pm) and there's really not much left. The portions are decent for lunch - two "mains" like I usually get daal and paneer plus basmati rice. That will run you $14 (without tip). The spice level is always very nice meaning there's heat but it doesn't overwhelm (at least I don't think it does; with the caveot being I love spicy food). People rave about the green sauce but I think the meal is always tasty without it. There's seating available if you want to dine in but everything is served in styrofoam and easily can be taken to go. I'm glad this place exists downtown and provides an excellent alternative to Third Ward dining options / meat-centric cuisine. The only potential issue you'll have is parking.
