I used to like this place. The Chicken Fried Rice is not chicken fried rice, it tastes boiled, no flavour, a few pieces of chicken and mushy onions, no eggs or vegetables. The food is fresh and wonderful. We use to live in Gurnee and we would order very often. We now live in Bartlett so when we come to Gurnee we order alot. The only down side is we order quarts of food. The containers that quarts are put in are not quarts size. They are flat rectangle containers that do not hold a quart. Had a great experience with this restaurant! I got the broccoli beef with white rice and it was absolutely delicious! My wife and MIL both loved their meals as well. I was excited to try somewhere new, saw some decent reviews so we opted for here for dinner. We had good service while here! We ordered online, process was easy and quick. Prices not too bad, lots of options. When we picked up the worker was kind and quick, food was ready to go. Because our total was $40+, we also got a free bottle of coke so that was nice too. The inside was small and has pics of the food. I kind of like the look of it. Unfortunately, the food was not it. The chicken in the fried rice was rubbery, ended up having to eat around it. The Rangoons were good, but not typical- kind of chunky, tasted more like sour cream and chive. Comes with 8 full size Rangoons so it is a decent serving. The chow mein was loaded with veggies so that was nice but it all had a weird flavor to it, I've had much better elsewhere. We received spoiled shrimp in our take out. We thought it was due to Covid and gave them another chance. Again it was old, stinky spoiled shrimp. When I went to pick it up I was sitting in my car directly in front of the restaurant looking in through the large glass door and windows. I watched the cashier take a customers card. I then saw her reach over onto the counter where a customer set her purse and into the customers purse. I would have given it 0 stars, but the price was cheap. We used to order from this place pre-COVID, but it had been going downhill so we stopped. Well, they've hit rock bottom. It's a dump. With all the masonite and plexiglass still up, I feel like I walked into some Detroit slum currency exchange (no offense intended to Detroit). The food was worse than anything that I had ever eaten, including the crappy food-court stalls in run-down malls. I ordered hot and sour soup. It was full of stuff, but lacked flavor - not "hot" not "sour" not even a dash of sesame oil floating on the top. The egg roll was obviously some cheap mass-manufactured product purchased from a supplier, not restaurant quality. Interestingly the inside of the egg roll had some bits of char siu style pork (the red-ish Chinese BBQ pork) but the only way I could tell was by seeing all the excess red dye that had spread all over the inside of the egg roll. I LOVE char siu pork - this wasn't it - this was more like some lab experiment that went really poorly. I ordered a combo platter with black pepper chicken and fried rice. I think that the chicken truly died in vain and that it had been cooked sometime last week. No crunch in the breading, no trace of black pepper flavor, just bland and boring. The fried rice was the same - and it had the same fake red-died pork in it. Next time I head that direction, it will be to pick up a pizza at the deep dish place next door. I used to frequent this establishment as a teen and college student (clc) many years ago. I just moved back to Gurnee and this place still does not disappoint. Fast, hot, and fresh service. I take-out ordered the moosho pork, pork egg roll, crab Rangoon, sesame shrimp & won ton soup. It was delicious. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed their fare. This year we got egg foo young, sweet snd sour chicken, hot and spicy beef, double cooked pork, garlic chicken, lo mien and crab Rangoon. It was all great but my favorite was surprisingly the hot and spicy beef. Give it a go, you won't regret it! Everything was cooked fresh. It wasn't oily or mushy, all very good. I wasn't thrilled at all that my dish, Singapore rice noodles, came with shrimp that weren't deveined. May not be an issue to some but complete no go for me. So after picking out all the meat, shrimp and chicken, I was able to enjoy the noodles. Also got steamed broccoli to go with the noodles which was spot in a great mix. The portion sizes are huge! If you're dining here for yourself be prepared to have a crap ton of food left over or to be throwing away a massive amount of food. For the price and amount of food you get it's a win! The woman working the phones claimed not to understand the English word "Rotten." So I used other descriptors to describe the foul odorous turned garbage swill they sold me for $63 dollars. My husband and I moved to Round Lake 2.5 yrs ago. We've tried many restaurants and a few Chinese places as well - between Gurnee, Grayslake & Round Lake. I can't say enough how amazing this Chinese place is! It's fresh, delicious and they serve a lot (except the sweet and sour shrimp). My husband and I usually share an entree but there are times when we want different things so we order separately. I'm rating on the dishes we've tried and the fact that everything is soooo fresh: 1) Sesame Chicken - 5 stars! The best sesame chicken we've had! Chicken is soft and fresh and the fried rice was so flavorful. 2) Crab Rangoon - 4 stars! Served a lot of pieces, tasty but could use more filling. 3) Egg drop soup - 5 stars! Delicious and perfect. Comes with little fried wontons to put in the soup. 4) Shrimp Egg Foo Young - 5 stars! Fresh, Served hot (not spicy), big portions (3 or 4 egg patties), tasty (the gravy that it came with - omg!) shrimp - was not greedy with the portions in the egg foo young. 5) Sweet and Sour Shrimp - 2 stars! Now this dish was a bit disappointing. $7.65 which is avg for their menu but only came with 3 fried shrimps :(. When I usually order sweet and sour shrimp from other Chinese restaurants - it's a huge portion with at least 8-10 pieces of shrimp. Now the taste was good, I'm only rating on the portion. Which is a big deal when you come home from work, your household is starving so you go to the convenience of ordering Chinese just to spend all this money with delivery and tip and only be able to whet 1 person's appetite vs feed a meal to a family. I would not order sweet and sour shrimp from here again, but it didn't deter me from taking away a star bc everything else has been amazing. I keep my expectations simple when I go to any strip mall Chinese restaurant. I want it to inexpensive, large-portioned, flavorful, and have minimal waiting time. This place hit all four of them. As part of a strip mall, there is ample parking, but I don't think anyone would come here to dine-in. They probably have 4-5 tables (4 chairs per table) but they probably get used while waiting for carryout orders. It took them less that 15 minutes to get my order together. They have ginormous pictures on the wall to help with visualizing some of the main menu items. As for taste and quantity, they were on par with my needs. My wife and I ended up making 2 meals out of what we ordered which was a quart of chicken friend rice, shrimp main fun, a pint order of roasted pork with mushrooms, and pint of sweet and sour chicken. I can definitely see myself picking up our future Chinese food cravings from this location. read more
